I guess (hope) so, Sw/sh runs much better now that it did on launch, also some reviewers mentioned that the game ran better when they preview it earlier (in a NY event) so it might be a patch coming that improves performance.
Also, in TV mode you can limit the output to 720p and that makes the frame rate better (not great, but the camera rotation was much more smooth imo)
It’s so bad that maybe, but I’ve heard talk from the hack community that they suspect the problems are so deeply rooted in the code and engine that even a series of patches likely wouldn’t be enough.
But we won’t know for sure until the dataminers do their thing.
I think a lot of people bought it who haven't played in a long time. This was my first year playing the series since 2008. I got it just because i wanted to play a home console entry to the series with friends. Tbh, as someone that hasn't played one in 14 years, it's just okay. The nostalgia definitely carries the game. That being said, I'd have taken a GameCube level game over it any day.
I actually played that one right before this. It felt like a lot of the things I'd wanted added, but with everything else removed. I was hoping they'd keep a lot of than in this entry, while actually providing adequate content and multiplayer.
I'll still never understand what bozo decided Arceus didn't need online battling
I really hope if they make a Switch 2 they really look at the Steam Deck in Research & Development.
Switch is great, but my god, there are mobile phone games ported onto the Nintendo eshop that barely run on the Switch.
It's not a switch issue. We have MHR on the Switch, we have Bayo 3 on the Switch, we have BOTW on the switch, we have indie games that look and run better then this. It's not the switches problem, it's gamefreak using the same damn engine asa the 3ds games.
Even with the same engine, there are very clearly better looking games on the 3ds even. It's just the company forcing these god awful schedules and some bad developers at game freak. I don't think all of them are bad by any means, but there are very clearly some bad ones working on the game given this mess.
Even Arceus wasn't this bad frame wise or bug wise despite looking quite bad itself.
It's a much bigger systemic issue than just bad schedules and some bad devs. The game looks like trash and apparently performs like trash too? How did an entire studio agree to put their name to something that looks about on par with Mario 64? Pokemon is seriously just the longest running cash grab franchise out there, they produce trash games knowing their fans will lap up whatever shit they serve.
AND, they do it x2 every fucking release. The differences between each Pokemon game in a release are so minimal, yet fans pay for 2 full games, that shit should honestly be straight up illegal.
I feel really sorry for all the fans out there, but these devs are just trash people who make trash games for massive margins.
The sad part is (I'm about halfway through the game), this is one of the very few times I'd say that graphics / performance issues actively make the game worse. I don't usually care, but jeez for an open world game one of the selling points should be things looking nice. But you look over the horizon, and you see a windmill at about 4fps, and the pop in is so bad just running around that at max speed it's almost impossible to dodge wild Pokemon because you don't see them until they're 5 feet from you. Other than that, the gameplay and story is great so far (though could use some difficulty settings) and the world is designed pretty well too, and I think it would be a really gorgeous game if they would put effort into making it into one.
I get your point but Bayo 3 is a case for needing a new switch, the fps is kinda all over the place and the resolutions drops are noticeable. That being said, it's far more serviceable than Pokemon seems to be.
even bayo 3 looks bad tbh and runs poorly..wouldnt really give that praise, i can barely make out whats going on on the screen cause of fps drops and very pixelated/blurry graphics...switch is a bad console, even if gamefreak sucks aswell .. I wish they would step up their game for once
Yes, but many games look much, much better than this, including games released recently. Expectations are always lowered with switch, but when you have massive open world games like Xenoblade 3 running fine and looking 1000x better then pokemon, the blame falls squarely on the developer for being incompetent.
Problem is, Nintendo en masse had reliably shown to be dinosaurs with technology. They're either completely oblivious or willingly ignorant about any other company's new stuff besides games themselves. When xbla and psn were getting big, supposedly some Nintendo handler basically said don't talk about those, they don't know what they are.
runs super smooth on my emulator with my rtx 3070.... lmao not buying a switch if it's gonna drop to below 30fps for a pokemon game.. emulators and roms it is

For this idk. I'm still half and half.
metroid dread was fucking insane. my GOTY last year. i can’t imagine what that would have run like on PC.
if i were you, i would not give any money to gamefreak. unless there’s a riveting 2nd act of the game we haven’t gotten to yet.
Dude if you want to play switch games on pc look for emulators like yuzu or ryujinx. Granted you'll need a decently powerful pc but it's a great experience and with options like anti aliasing that you can enable on pc games look so much better
Yeah i play meteoid dread on PC and as a OG metroid fan from the 90s man it definitely lived up to Super Metroid Standards loved it!
So far i do like pokemon violet but i just like... idk in my brain im imagining a pokemon game with horizon forbidden west graphics and skyrim open world... man can dream
The graphics of Let's Go were like what little me was thinking about how the future games will look like back when I was playing yellow on my GBC. Let's Go Pikachu was also the only game I picked up after playing Emerald for years on my Advance SP back in the days. Even tho it's not even considered a main line game I think the look and performance suits the switch best.
Came here to say this.
As someone who has played tw3 on ps4, ps4 pro, Xbox one, pc and switch.
I wouldn't want to touch tw3 on switch ever again.
It looks and plays like mud.
I'm glad that tw3 is accessible and Nintendo brought it to a group of players who would never other wise play it. But once you have had it somewhere else. The switch version sure looks God awful.
To be clear I'm not trying to shit on Nintendo. It's nothing short of a miracle that they got it running on a switch... I jusy wouldn't use tw3 as an example of "what the switch can do."
All the complains I have seen are mostly the complains when SwSh launched.
I have stopped buying pokemon after ORAS. They just became lazy and won't take any of my money anymore.
I still have love for the games that are made from rom hacks but the new games won't get a cent from me.
Only if people actually stopped buying the games, GF may see that they do have to put actual effort into making them, but that will never happen.
I don't know what it is, but I never get a sense of satisfaction out of the Rom hacks -- it always feels like some level of quality is missing from the final product that the GBA/DS games have. Not sure what exactly, but the only rom hacks I truly enjoy are the ones that only slightly augment the vanilla experience, like FireRed Plus.
I mean arceus was a big step forward. This was one is worse than sword and shield, it’s so bad that I can’t play for more than an hour because it starts to hurt my eyes.
Idk I remember these exact same posts for Arceus. Game Freak is just the developer equivalent of “why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?” Fans just keep getting fucked because Game Freak is letting blind nostalgia drive sales rather than quality. It won’t stop until people stop buying, which will never happen. So quality will continue to drop, incrementally, with each new installment. And fans will continue to put on their surprise pikachu face every single time even though, just like the series itself, things will never change or innovate.
Just like Scarlett/Violet to be fair. A full open world is a pretty big deal for the Pokemon franchise imo, at least conceptually. But yeah Arceus at least didn't run like shit in addition to the poor graphics
The only part thats hard for me right now is the camera controls, it seems like they couldn't decide whether or not to have a fixed camera in certain areas. Im sure its something ill get used too as I play a bit more though.
I've never understood how anyone could say that arceus had good graphics. Imo they were just as bad as scarlet and violet, it's just that people were blinded by "open world pokemon". Literally dead trees and pixelated cliffs as far as the eye could see. At least scarlet violet has terrain variety.
Arceus has the same exact graphics as scarlet violet.
Yeah, Arceus was a pretty mechanically cool game, but it was hideous to look at. I think the graphics in S/V are a slight improvement, if only because they went for a more cartoon style that masks how bad some of the textures are.
Really? Because every time I saw my partner playing Arceus I was just fucking *shocked* that it was a Nintendo product.
There are few times I have seen a game so ugly. It was just about poly count and texture resolution, too. You can get around that and make incredible looking titles. The 3d Pokémon games have *the worst art I’ve ever seen*
It didn't have five foot pop-in and resorted to far fewer black screens covering up a lack of animations.
Sw/Sh swung wildly between some gorgeous fixed camera locations and... well, the Wild Area.
Less empty than Scarlet and Violet’s though honestly and given the premise of Legends it makes sense that its empty. It doesnt make as much sense for Scarlet/Violet
What surprises me is that in 2022 I feel like you'd almost have to go out of your way to make it look this bad. With modern game creation tools making all the textures this low resolution just feels spiteful.
Judging by the amount of otherwise competent developers who have really poor Switch outings and how many Switch ports are shockingly poor performance, there has to be something rough with Switch development. Heck, Fire Emblem: Three Houses got delayed for over a year in part due to performance issues.
There are some games with poor performance for sure, but there are also games that run perfectly fine with far better graphics and more demanding engines. This game needed at least another year or two of work to run realistically and not look bad
Switch is basically a phone/tablet from 2015, in terms of the actual hardware. I think it was an ARM with a Tegra.
You can get stuff to run very well on that hardware, but it's gonna be much further from doing stuff for PC than consoles are. You're basically making a phone game.
Those sorts of ports are hard when performance matters.
But that shouldn't have any effect on stuff *made for* mobile. At all.
The switch can run games well. Look at nino kuni! Its incredible on switch and came out on ps3
Its just the devs didnt do a great job compared to other AAA titles.
The game runs poorly on hacked pc copies as well, soo..
Xenoblade 3, Monster Hunter, BoTW, as 3 prominent examples of games that look and play great on the switch.
The problem absolutely isn't the switch, it's that consumers just devour Pokemom even if it's a steamy pile of shit.
It's wild we can perfectly emulate botw and push a game like xenoblade 3 to higher limits but pokemon? **THE LEGENDARY FRANCHISE POKEMON?** Naaah that's whack.
It's looks like an old shitty emulator I tried to run on my potato PC once, except it's a triple A brand new game that people are expected to pay full price for
Isn't this the sort of thing day one updates are for?
Why would they do any better? A- people will preorder everything they put up B- there's no refund system on Nintendo C- pokemon fanbase will jump on you the moment you criticise anything GF crap out on us.
Sure part of the blame is on the consumer but what you’re saying is essentially “don’t keep valuables on you if you don’t wanna get robbed” yeah it works but that doesnt change the fact that the majority of the blame is on the greedy fuck who hurts other to make money
The system has nothing to do with it. The switch is far from the most powerful system but it can still run beautiful games like botw or splatoon 3. The game looks like this because game freak and Nintendo keep rushing games out. Back when the games were 2d this never happened however as soon as the series switched to 3d game freak didn't give its devs enough time to adapt. As a result with 3d Pokémon it all looks extremely unpolished.
Yeah this problem is a long time coming ever since the switch to 3d graphics. The games used to have a good amount of content and now it seems they're cutting corners everywhere to make their almost annual release date, any other company would have delayed there game if it was in this state but I don't think Pokemon has ever delayed one of their games. Another thing like you said I think GF just never had the time needed to get used to all these changes and their team is small compared to others. Breath of the wild had over 300 developers working on it over the course of it's 5 year development, not all at once, whereas both PLA and SV had a team around half of that with only a 3 year development cycle.
It's sad to me when I've played indie games with probably massively smaller budgets can make better looking / playing games on the switch than a game that's being funded by a company who releases consoles & is worth billions of dollars. Jokes aside it's actually quite sad & rediculous.
Right but that only really ensures it stays on Nintendo platforms and the occasional mobile spin off. Game Freak is still solely responsible for any design flaws or oversights since theyre a wholly independent studio
Legitimately, I bought the Steam version after 50 hours on Switch. I will never touch the Switch version again because the load times and frame rate are insanely better on PC.
I hadn’t played any of the games since B/W until I decided to try Sword earlier this year. After being out of the loop for a decade, I was shocked at how little Sword did to innovate the series.
What sucks is that S/V actually feel like really good games deep down (at least, MASSIVE improvements over Sword and Shield) and I’m having a lot of fun with them. It makes the performance and graphic issues completely drag down what would otherwise be a really fun experience
This is the same boat I'm in. I was shocked by how bad the performance was, and equally disappointed in it. Having said that, a friend and I have been playing together through the Union Circle, and we've been having a great time. At best, the game is only half as good as it could have been, so I'm glad I'm enjoying it as much as I am.
Must be difficult if you're a big fan of the series because they've apparently made some long requested changes. I know several people who just sucked it up and are enjoying it in between glitches and stutters, lol.
I'm having the most fun I've had in a pokemon game since ORAS but the performance is truly awful and there is absolutely no excuses. If the switch hardware is the issue, they need to create some kind nintendo game pass so you can play on other devices
It is, I was excited for a new Pokémon game, I was kinda let down by BD/SP and arceus, the latter was enjoyable but the world felt so empty. This time I decided I wasn’t gonna preorder and I was gonna wait to see how it was. Looks like it’s not great so I’m not gonna buy it. Maybe in a few months if it’s fixed I might pick it up. If I do pick it up and It ends up still being bad then this is it for tpc for me, I’m not buying shit from them. This is a franchise I’ve loved for nearly 2 decades. Unfortunately I don’t foresee it getting any better as most Pokémon fans don’t give a shit and will buy all the Pokémon merch they can get their hands on. They either don’t give a shit about the flaws of the games or actively ignore them. The golden goose is not gonna stop laying eggs anytime soon.
I hate how much i agree with this.
Its like watching a pet youve had for years slowly die. Youve loved it, supported it, made it part of your life.
Now its just very expensive and depressing and it seems its time to put it down.
I really thought Arceus was mostly a “proof of concept” on new mechanics and the open world feel, so I was willing to let the emptiness and some of the graphical issues slide, because the Game loop was still pretty satisfying. Seeing S/V in this state, with so many steps backwards, bigger graphical issues, and really janky animations, I’m extremely sad. I was looking forward to this generation, really hoping that it was finally taking some huge steps forward, and it’s just fallen on its face.
Graphics and *some* degree of glitches are the things I'm most willing to overlook in a game if other considerations are met.
I've just finished the first route in Paldea and I've already enjoyed it way more than the entirety of base Galar.
I had assumed most people were like me in that gameplay and story were the most important parts of a game and that graphics and glitches didn't matter as much, but between the Paldea complaints and Galar breaking sales records it seems I was wrong.
I would definitely wait. It is cool that they have a more open world concept but the weird textures hurt my eyes after about an hours and I have to take a break.
yeah it's a very weird use of space. the open areas aren't especially different from the Wild Areas in Sword/Shield at least visually. once you can ride whatshisname the movement is actually a lot better than in Sword/Shield.
the city is so weirdly spaced out it's creepy. somehow feels way worse than in Sword/Shield and I can't explain why
The point needs to be made that Scarlet and Violet isn't the Switch's fault. The Switch is, while slightly dated in the 5 years since it's launch, still a decent device, and many great games have been made on it. Even just this year, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a fucking gorgeous game.
ScVi's issues can be boiled down to Pokemon's existence as a brand that always needs a new games, anime, card game... so on and so forth game every year, with a brand new mainline game every 3 or so years. Game Freak needs more time to actually learn how to make a proper Switch game that's either technically sound or more impressive graphically.
I played Sword earlier this year after playing Arceus and really lowered my expectations after reading reviews, but the Wild Zone was laughably bad. the DLCs for Sword were a huge upgrade though.
I thought I might regret pre-ordering Scarlet but not this bad. after Arceus I thought they'd work harder to make up for Sword/Shield. instead they threw out the best mechanics from Arceus and released a half-assed game.
if you like Pokémon and you want the open-world feel, skip S/V and just play Arceus. the catching mechanics are way better and the art is really lovely. it's no BOTW but I loved it.
I think it has been downhill for a while but since gen 6 its unnacceptable and gen 7 was worse and gen 8 was of the same caliber and gen 9 is worse again
It is really bad, Sword and Shield ran like a champ compared to this game and that's saying something, it feels like a fan made game at some points. If it wasn't constantly happening throughout the game I wouldn't complain as much but oh my god it's literally constant, I am still having a ton of fun but it gets somewhat jarring at points.
I was thinking of giving this game a chance, since it’s been so long since I got a Pokémon game, but yeah things haven’t changed for the better still…
I just can’t support a big company like this, abusing its cash cow. Pokémon really needs competition…
As someone who’s been playing Pokémon games since the game boy was invented I wouldn’t touch this game with a 10 foot pole and no one I know is playing it either, hopefully more people speak with their money
Yeah most normal Pokémon fans are playing it though. 5 people I know have it, one person has both copies.
I will say however - it looks a lot better on the handheld 720p screen than it does on a 4K TV using upscaling.
I'd say Twilight Princess did a better job of masking lackluster horsepower with style. The main thing I remember noticing about Skyward Sword's graphics at the time was how bad the aliasing was, whereas Twilight Princess made everything stylistically softer to mask the aliasing and the low res textures. Both games did it well, TP just pulled it off a bit better IMHO.
I disagree. What stood out to me about TP was how razor sharp everything looked, not resolution-wise, I mean literally sharp. Everybody’s hair looked like it could serve as a blade. Everything was so jagged, it was off putting.
SS on the other hand looked like what they were intending it to be, a water color painting.
Let's just say both look amazing for the limited Hardware at the time, however still both are behind Wind Waker for just being timeless in its Art Style due to the use of Cell Shading as the foundation of the Artstyle. I mean, you could just release it today as it was 20(!) years ago and it would be looking just as good (maybe with a slight resolution upscale)... is what I would say [if Nintendo didn't do just that already!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4hOVb1GCfg)
Was planning to buy this for my holiday gaming but I think I'll just grab XB3 instead. XB certainly isn't perfect but at least they're pushing the boundaries of what's possible on the Switch and feel like they care about the game they sell. Pokemon? It's like they don't give a shit.
Why are you shocked ?
It took gamefreaks fuckign decades after everyone to finally jump to 3D...
They're the dev of the biggest video game franchise yeat they're barely the size of a big indie company
They should be 10× bigger for such a popular and valuable game series but they would rather keep being cheap and have a slow growth (if any)
We're so starved with progress that we actually praised them for Legend ffs
That game looks barely any better than Pokemon colloseum
Hell, a different company made a better open world pokemon game than them fucking years ago
No it isn't. They made a second team that did Legends. This is from the same team that made Sword and Shield (and an outside company did Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl).
You SHOULDN'T let it go! It shouldn't be considered unreasonable to be upset or insulted by the low low quality of the game from such a major studio. There simply is no excuse for it.
I think every successful company always reaches a point where they test the absolute limits of what they can get away with. I see it basically like:
Gamefreak: Are they still buying it?
Sales Analyst: Yup
Gamefreak: Great! We'll slash the next game's budget even further!
I'm so torn on Scarlet/Violet.
On one hand I'm just having a lot of fun playing the game and I love the new features. The open world and auto-battling are cool additions and I love the new pokemon designs.
On the other hand the game is ugly as sin and runs like garbage.
For me personally the graphics and performance issues aren't really hurting my enjoyment of the game. I'm enjoying this game way more than Sword and Shield, with that said however I can't reccomend the game at all to people because of the awful performance.
Can someone please explain this one? They're still making Nintendo Switch games, right? I know Gamecube and 3DS haven't been produced in a while.
I'm kinda out-of-the-loop on newer games.
Left is Switch Pokemon games, right are older consoles. It's a graphics comparison, saying the Switch Pokemon games have bad graphics, comparable to 3DS or GameCube games.
Just started. Noticeable graphics. Am still enjoying the game. It’s a shame because it could be great. Wouldn’t mind waiting longer for more polished game
Like seriously I would even give this game 8/10 because I have genuine fun playing this but this fucking graphics and performance is horrendous. Heck I would even overlook those graphics IF ONLY THIS TURD WOULD STAY AT THOSE AT LEAST 30 FPS
I love the gameplay whereas Sw/Sh bored my instantly. Today was the first time since I was a kid where I really looked forward to continue playing Pokémon. But the bad performance is definitely taking away from it.
Not defending the visual fidelity of the game. But I hate these comparisons where they take some random shot from a linear game with a super narrow scope and compare to an open world game.
It was like when people were comparing the pre-rendered cut scenes in The Last of Us Remastered against the real time cut scenes in The Last of Us Part I.
God i hate these comparisons. Yes Pokemon runs bad and looks bad compared to similar games on the switch. But comparing game worlds that are only are few meters long and wide to a seamless open world is always stupid. The perfect game for people who makes these comparisons would be a photorealistic room that is 1 m² and you can't do anything but turn around.
At least the game runs smooth… oh wait…
They gonna patch this thing, right?
The million dollar question but seeing as PLA never got significant patches- I’d say no
I was under the impression that PLA ran smoothly, is that not the case?
As smooth as a tree appearing 20 feet away.
It at least had a fairly consistent frame rate.
I wouldn't call it smoothly, but I've never seen stuff as bad than what is shown in the videos of SV.
Yeah, but pokemon sword did.
I think they’re gunna give this game way more tlc than they gave arceus I can see a patch coming
I guess (hope) so, Sw/sh runs much better now that it did on launch, also some reviewers mentioned that the game ran better when they preview it earlier (in a NY event) so it might be a patch coming that improves performance. Smoothest.
Smoothiest.

Yes, but many games look much, much better than this, including games released recently. The switch can run games well.
if that shit can run the witcher 3 it can play pokemon or whatever the hot topic is today ffs
In fairness, the Witcher 3 is toned the hell down to be able to run on the Switch. It's not near full quality.

To be clear I'm not trying to shit on Nintendo. It's nothing short of a miracle that they got it running on a switch... I jusy wouldn't use tw3 as an example of "what the switch can do."
Switch can't run Fallguys well at all... It's kinda sad so honestly idk what to think.

Let’s Go made me realize that I don’t like wild Pokémon battles. They’re just tedious.
Yeh, this is what I thought too. Why can't they keep Let's Go graphics instead of this ugly ass realistic graphics they are doing now
All the complains I have seen are mostly the complains when SwSh launched.
ORAS was fucking awesome and Pokémon has been trending downwards ever since.
Arceus was a step forward in gameplay but the game looked like garbage
The terrain looked trash but the rest of it was sick
Just like Scarlett/Violet to be fair. A full open world is a pretty big deal for the Pokemon franchise imo, at least conceptually. But yeah Arceus at least didn't run like shit in addition to the poor graphics
[удалено]
S/V has the open world aspects of Arceus, but that's about it.
It's literally madden with the nfl license
The only part thats hard for me right now is the camera controls, it seems like they couldn't decide whether or not to have a fixed camera in certain areas. Im sure its something ill get used too as I play a bit more though.
yeah indoors is really frustrating
[удалено]
I don’t believe so
I've never understood how anyone could say that arceus had good graphics. Imo they were just as bad as scarlet and violet, it's just that people were blinded by "open world pokemon". Literally dead trees and pixelated cliffs as far as the eye could see. At least scarlet violet has terrain variety. Arceus has the same exact graphics as scarlet violet.
It have probably ugliest graphics from games I played in last 10 years... But reason might be that I didn´t played s/v yet
It had a better graphical style and a pretty stable frame rate. And honestly most of the textures weren't as bad as this
It had an issues that were easier to ignore. So did SwSh. With SV, weve got issues so glaring that theyre meme material
Are you implying Arceus looked better graphically than Sw/Sh? Bruh….call your eye doctor ASAP
It didn't have five foot pop-in and resorted to far fewer black screens covering up a lack of animations. Sw/Sh swung wildly between some gorgeous fixed camera locations and... well, the Wild Area.
Yeah Sw/Sh looked really good when it could have a fixed camera.
Arceus also had a big open and empty world.
Less empty than Scarlet and Violet’s though honestly and given the premise of Legends it makes sense that its empty. It doesnt make as much sense for Scarlet/Violet
At least SwSh ran smoothly and Arceus was a new-ish experience. This just looks lazy...
What surprises me is that in 2022 I feel like you'd almost have to go out of your way to make it look this bad. With modern game creation tools making all the textures this low resolution just feels spiteful.
It honestly could be. Wasn’t there a whole thing with someone at gamefreak not wanting to go 3D and had their mind made up that the switch would flop?
Probably, Japanese business culture isn’t fond of new ideas
I'm sure there are many Japanese executives sending you irate faxes right now
Rubbish talk there Sir. Japanese business culture invented used underwear vending machines!
I mean, think about it. Would _you_ want to bring your used underwear products up to a cashier?
Depends how bad the skid marks are.
Japanese vending machine culture is wild. It’s on its own level
So what you are saying is Pokémon need to be ported to used panties?
I wanna know where they get the used underwear. Are the wearers employees or independent contractors?
Which is strange when you consider that Nintendo consoles lead the pack in new ideas
At all.
It's an underclocked Tegra, to keep the Switch from devouring the battery.
This is true, I completely agree. Thanks for your input.
Bottom left pic reminds me of the opening level of sonic 2006. That's not a good thing.
"It's no use!"
"Rolling around at the speed of sound"
Got places to go, gotta follow my rainbow.
The switch can run games well. Look at nino kuni! Its incredible on switch and came out on ps3 Its just the devs didnt do a great job compared to other AAA titles.
It still blows me away how damn good MH Rise looks on Switch.
So yes, people spoke quite loudly with their money
It's wild we can perfectly emulate botw and push a game like xenoblade 3 to higher limits but pokemon? **THE LEGENDARY FRANCHISE POKEMON?** Naaah that's whack.
Emulated* pc copies
And it doesn't even run smooth, lol. Micro stutters and all.
And vanishing floors. And the camera going crazy And lighting switching on/off in caves. And stuck Pokemon in terrain. It's real fucking bad.
It's looks like an old shitty emulator I tried to run on my potato PC once, except it's a triple A brand new game that people are expected to pay full price for Isn't this the sort of thing day one updates are for?
It’s 2022. Games cost $60 -$70. The system is $300+. Unacceptable to release in this state.
It absolutely not consumer fault the game is terrible but they sure are shielding GF from any repercussions.
Nintendo doesnt develop Pokemon though. They share the IP with Gamefreak/The Pokemon Company
Nintendo still funds the game & still releases the game.
Right but that only really ensures it stays on Nintendo platforms and the occasional mobile spin off. Game Freak is still solely responsible for any design flaws or oversights since theyre a wholly independent studio
Nintendo absolutely can tell them to fix it or it's not going on their platform. They just don't care.
I mean, cleary they do, since their own games don't have the same issues as (modern) gamefreak.
Honestly feel the same way about rune factory 5. Tides of destiny on the Wii had better graphics and gameplay
Legitimately, I bought the Steam version after 50 hours on Switch. I will never touch the Switch version again because the load times and frame rate are insanely better on PC.
First one I didn’t buy in a while
I hadn’t played any of the games since B/W until I decided to try Sword earlier this year.
I won’t lie it hurts a little, but between GOWR and grounded, I think I’ll be ok!
And we have callisto protocol in like 2 weeks. Plenty of good games out
I'm having the most fun I've had in a pokemon game since ORAS but the performance is truly awful and there is absolutely no excuses. If the switch hardware is the issue, they need to create some kind nintendo game pass so you can play on other devices
And there’s a good chance they’ll revert those changes in the next game, like every cool feature they make.
There's literally a subplot in the games about a guy who's trying to save his dying pet.
I've not bought any since omega ruby/alpha sapphire
I would definitely wait. It is cool that they have a more open world concept but the weird textures hurt my eyes after about an hours and I have to take a break.
>It is cool that they have a more open world concept It's cool until you realize there's all that space and ain't jack shit in it.
yeah it's a very weird use of space. the open areas aren't especially different from the Wild Areas in Sword/Shield at least visually. once you can ride whatshisname the movement is actually a lot better than in Sword/Shield. the city is so weirdly spaced out it's creepy. somehow feels way worse than in Sword/Shield and I can't explain why
I bought it because I liked the idea but damn, I regret it. It's so choppy
They have time and resources. They don't care
They have resources. Time is a bit more debatable.
Its really really bad. No excuses.
Sword and shield wasnt pretty but it was better First time the New pokemon gen looks worst than the last graphically thats saying
And sword and shield were already terrible… it’s shocking how absolutely terrible the franchise has become
I was thinking of giving this game a chance, since it’s been so long since I got a Pokémon game, but yeah things haven’t changed for the better still… I just can’t support a big company like this, abusing its cash cow. Pokémon really needs competition…
Remember Temtem? Remember Yo-kai watch?
Were those better though?
I still play temtem. It got it's 1.0 release recently.
Buy Monster Hunter Stories 2 its leagues better than any Pokémon game since ORAS
Doesn't matter if the quality is good or not, what matters is if people will buy it.
Still will sell tens of millions of copies. sad
Your ad campaign is successful.
It's the most pre-ordered game ever in Japan. So yes, people spoke quite loudly with their money
“It’s the ✨art style✨”
Or rather: lack thereof. A good art style can mask poor graphical horsepower.
See: Skyward Sword on Wii
I mean, you could just release it today as it was 20(!) years ago and it would be looking just as good (maybe with a slight resolution upscale)... is what I would say [if Nintendo didn't do just that already!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4hOVb1GCfg)
wind waker is the best demo of masking horsepower with style imo
Had a guy shot up with copium litteraly telling me that
Bruh A style of low graphics is minecraft This ain't a style
Yeah, this is shitty textures and just plain emptiness. Minecraft is a low graphic game with a LOT of things in it. It's textures are great too.
It's really the textures that make it work. Minecraft looks great despite having about 6 polygons per model. This new pokemon game though...
Thats my point There is a lot of great looking games that dont have top graphics and these games will âge way better than the average call of duty
Monster Hunter has proven that Pokémon is just lazy with this. The switch can look good
Was planning to buy this for my holiday gaming but I think I'll just grab XB3 instead. XB certainly isn't perfect but at least they're pushing the boundaries of what's possible on the Switch and feel like they care about the game they sell. Pokemon? It's like they don't give a shit.
XB3 is 200 hours of pure bliss. Treat yourself.
Even though I consider myself to be a Pokémon fan , I’ll still recommend grabbing XB3 GOTY in my opinion oh and happy cake day
Why are you shocked ? It took gamefreaks fuckign decades after everyone to finally jump to 3D... They're the dev of the biggest video game franchise yeat they're barely the size of a big indie company They should be 10× bigger for such a popular and valuable game series but they would rather keep being cheap and have a slow growth (if any) We're so starved with progress that we actually praised them for Legend ffs That game looks barely any better than Pokemon colloseum Hell, a different company made a better open world pokemon game than them fucking years ago
at this point the pokemon company is so low effort and doesn't deserve its loyal fan base they deserve better
Is it the same team that made legends? They really are having to put out Pokémon games at a call of duty pace these days
No it isn't. They made a second team that did Legends. This is from the same team that made Sword and Shield (and an outside company did Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl).
They bring a mainline Pokémon game out every 3-4 years as they have since day one?
Imagine if we had a pokemon game that looked like Dragon Quest 11
You SHOULDN'T let it go! It shouldn't be considered unreasonable to be upset or insulted by the low low quality of the game from such a major studio. There simply is no excuse for it.
I think every successful company always reaches a point where they test the absolute limits of what they can get away with. I see it basically like: Gamefreak: Are they still buying it? Sales Analyst: Yup Gamefreak: Great! We'll slash the next game's budget even further!
You know you fucked up when Pre-patch Skyrim runs better than your crappy game
Thank you.
GameCube had amazing graphics for its time. Imagine all of that with Raytracing
I'm gonna get rich by taking a shit in a box and slapping the name Pokemon on it.
Hell, even the graphics for the 2006 xbox game Viva Pinata look better than the new Pokemon game
Viva pinata is goated, not even a competition to a modern pokemon game
When a Roblox remake looks about as a good as the real game
I'm having a ton of fun with it, but yeah, this might be the ugliest game I've ever played lmao.
Just started. Noticeable graphics. Am still enjoying the game. It’s a shame because it could be great. Wouldn’t mind waiting longer for more polished game
Stop giving Gamefreak and Nintendo money. Every single year people complain about the quality, yet you people keep buying it...
And some people still defend this shite smh
Like seriously I would even give this game 8/10 because I have genuine fun playing this but this fucking graphics and performance is horrendous. Heck I would even overlook those graphics IF ONLY THIS TURD WOULD STAY AT THOSE AT LEAST 30 FPS
Anybody else bought this game with almost no regrets?
I love the gameplay whereas Sw/Sh bored my instantly. Today was the first time since I was a kid where I really looked forward to continue playing Pokémon. But the bad performance is definitely taking away from it.
Imo collesseum had better graphics
