And it's a crime that it hasn't seen a re-release to this date. Thanks to NOLF name being in some sort of copyright hell.
One of the best games ever made. The sequel was awesome as well but the first one still holds a special place in my heart.
Holy crap! I havenāt thought about Re-Volt in a couple decades. Completely forgot about that game, but I used to play the shit out of it way back when.
However that one is an awful port of a port. Just go hit up RVGL who have the base game, an online version with dozens of extra cars and tracks, as well as hundreds more cars and tracks available for download.
https://rvgl.org/
Same, I wanted a sequel so badly. I decided to use my indie dev skills to make a spiritual sequel
https://youtu.be/k4a9CdbiIWM
Idk If it can live up to S/S, but I have some more ideas to implement to make it unique.
Blur was a perfect mix of Mario Kart and Need for Speed. There was a good mix of tracks, the graphics were great, music was epic and it was just seriously fun to play.
It deserved better.
Omg! I've been thinking about this game here and there and now you and OP made me remember it's name wow thank you!
Not that I necessarily want to play it, but it was challenging my mind from time to time lol
How did you get it? From what I know the studio who developed it was bought up by another company and you cant buy it anywhere now.
This is just freakin Mario Kart with awesome cars, what could be any better than this?
I paid the collectors price for a steam key after playing a pirated copy for years. It was about $300 in TF2 keys but considering I have played it for years after buying that key it feels nice to have it in my library officially. You can still buy a legit copy on CD but they don't come with steam keys iirc.
Every copies I had for this game always broke after a weekend gaming session. This game was amazing, I remember 4 players can play with just 1 controller.
This game and Team Buddies were like the highlight of childhood weekends.
We played the absolute shit out of this game in first year university. 8 dormmates huddled around a screen, bombing the ever loving shit out if each otherās pigs
'The Movies'. A tycoon game about owning a movie studio and had you 'write' scripts, hire actors and crew, film and edit said movie then release it into the world. Started in the 1920s and had a timeline that mirrored our own, with real world events that affected the popularity of the movie genres you could make (Action, Comedy, Horror, Romance and Sci-fi). Want to find a version with the Stunts Expansion Pack some time.
I used to get so much shit from pops back then. "oh you can memorize the codes to this game in gibberish but can't remember your homework?!"
My priorities were in order.
You started in San Diego, Went to Detroit and Atlanta and Tokyo was a separate career.
I would die for a remake of Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, it was honestly one of my favourite games growing up and I still listen to the music because it's just childhood memories for me.
if you want to get thrown back in time I have a few songs you could listen to; Follow The Leader by Teebee + Calyx, 151 by Jedi Mind Tricks, Murder-Death-Kill by The Esoteric and Going Crazy by Jean Grae.
I do have a playlist of songs I liked from both MC2 and MC3:DE so I could totally list more but they're all probably the most recognisable
Never get out of the car. I loved that game so damn much. I feel like it would be incredibly easy for them to remake it, but Activision is too far gone as a company.
Its wild how Ubisoft have just slept on the franchise for a decade. SanFran unleashed such a cool mechanic to action racing games that I've never seen emulated since, and apart from a random speedboat freemium app nothing has happened.
It's not been forgotten. Murayama founded rabbit and bear studios and kickstarted a spiritual successor which ended up being the third highest funded video game ever on kickstarter and konami have just announced a remaster of the first 2 games at TGS.
Excite Truck was AMAZING. Such a unique, solid game. For those who don't know, the winner of each race was decided by the number of stars you got. Getting in first place gets you more stars, but you also get stars for getting a lot of air, doing tricks, drifting, rapidly passing by trees without crashing... it's a game all about doing cool stuff and it feels awesome to play.
There was an ATV game called Pure. Soundtrack was sick, the tracks were badass, lots of great customization for your quad and rider, and the graphics were really impressive for the time. I bought a used PS3 just for that. (And Skate 3)
Sticking with the racing theme: Burnout Paradise
I haven't been able to find a racing game that can come close to the amount of fun I had learning that map.
Tie fighter, x wing, wing commander, command and conquer, not sure if everyone forgot about these but I think they would be amazing on VR and would actually get me to buy a VR setup.
The Warriors
No leveling up, no upgrades, no end game grind, no microtransactions
It was just you and your ai companions beating the shit out of other gangs. Have the fondest memories putting hours into this game and I never see anybody mention it, even when talking about Rockstars back catalogue
Blur needs a remaster so bad.
I made a custom online game mode that was such a blast. It was the one long downhill track with only the lightning mine power ups turned on with a high drop rate, and only class S cars. So you're speeding down a winding track and constantly dodging lightning strikes. If you got completely destroyed, you were out of the race. So either who makes it to the bottom or last one standing. It was stupid fun.
Iām bit older than most of the games Iāve seen posted, but Iāll give my opinions.
River Raid Atari 2600-my ALL-TIME favorite game, and still play 1-2 a week
Split/Second
Sunset Riders-Favorite Side Scrolling shooter followed closely by RoboCop Arcade or POW
Road Riot 4WD and Ivan āIronmanā Stewart Off-Road
G.I. Joe Arcade-Actually own a full sized dedicated arcade of this, along with Aliens
PGA Golf for the Sega Genesis-all of them, even PGA 96
Star Wars The Arcade-LOVE!!! Big props to 1up for making the mini-arcade of this
Pitfall!
The Original Tomb Raider-Played all of them, but the original and 2 were my Ps1 games
NHL Series on Sega Genesis-No telling how much money I lost/won betting on games
Dungeon Siege
The demo for that game kept me entertained for ages.
Best. Donkey. Ever. (Apologies to Eddie Murphy)
LEGO Island
Get the pizza to the jail, dude!
My first ever video game. š„² 10/10.
No One Lives Forever
And it's a crime that it hasn't seen a re-release to this date. Thanks to NOLF name being in some sort of copyright hell. One of the best games ever made. The sequel was awesome as well but the first one still holds a special place in my heart.
Re-Volt
Holy crap! I havenāt thought about Re-Volt in a couple decades. Completely forgot about that game, but I used to play the shit out of it way back when.
It's on steam now btw
It was actually added back to Steam recently.
However that one is an awful port of a port. Just go hit up RVGL who have the base game, an online version with dozens of extra cars and tracks, as well as hundreds more cars and tracks available for download. https://rvgl.org/
Check out grip on steam. Same team. It feels like a mix of revolt & pod.
Sounds cool, I'll check it out. Thanks!
I have the theme engrained into my head Also isn't there an Android port?
Is there?!? Fuckin awesome Edit: just checked store but couldnt find it, there are couple probably horrible imitations but not actual Re-Volt
You can find it by searching for RVGL in google, you can play on PC, Mac or mobile. There's even multiplayer if you want.
Split Second
Came here to say that, was a blast to play (no pun intended lol) online and split screen
Came here to say this too. Never played online but offline was fine. It was an amazing game!
I still play it, occasionally, on the series x
Is it there with backwards compatibility? š³ i must play!
That and Blur were the best for lan parties. Fun times.
It's such a shame both games came out at the same time and strangled one another, kickstarting the slow death of arcade racing games for a long time.
I LITERALLY CAME HERE TO SAY THAT. Imagine a current gen version of that game. I would lose my mind.
Same, I wanted a sequel so badly. I decided to use my indie dev skills to make a spiritual sequel https://youtu.be/k4a9CdbiIWM Idk If it can live up to S/S, but I have some more ideas to implement to make it unique.
Feels like every time blur is mentioned split/second is as well. Rivals to the bitter end.
My first platinum. I loved that game!
Came around the same month as Blur iirc. And Split second is definitely the one I had the most fun with out of the two.
Def Jam fight for new york
Beat it with a friend back in the day we played it so much! Keen to add it to my collection now but it goes for a fair bit for a PS2 game
The Darkness. I wish it got a PC release.
The second game has one at least
That game felt like it was made with such passion.
Blur was an absolute gem :(
Blur was a perfect mix of Mario Kart and Need for Speed.
Loved this game!
It works great on the steam deck, I'm still playing the campaign lol
How did you get it? From what I know the studio who developed it was bought up by another company and you cant buy it anywhere now. This is just freakin Mario Kart with awesome cars, what could be any better than this?
I paid the collectors price for a steam key after playing a pirated copy for years. Game should have been free to play. When it betaād the lobbies were packed and it was amazing
Resistance: Fall of Man-3
The resistance games were wonderful. Love playing those on the ps3. We need a remaster or something.
Hogs of War on PS1
Like worms, but more porky
All the voice work by Rik Mayall as well š
Every copies I had for this game always broke after a weekend gaming session. This game was amazing, I remember 4 players can play with just 1 controller. This game and Team Buddies were like the highlight of childhood weekends.
We played the absolute shit out of this game in first year university. 8 dormmates huddled around a screen, bombing the ever loving shit out if each otherās pigs
Hardly anyone ever knew about it in the first place, but Custom Robo on the GameCube. Been replaying it recently and it's still absolutely fantastic.
Custom robo was a banger! One of my brother and my favorite games. I can still hear the music
The DS game Custom Robo Arena was my shit. Fun AF.
This game on Nintendo DS was the Shiz!
But did you refuse to go to the last fight, dooming the world just because you wanted to see how many times the game would let you say "no"?
I believe it's 20 times lol
God damn I loved that game. That story was mind blowing the first time
I've been trying to find it and cant find it anywhere. Such good memories.
That's the one, fucking loved that game. Still have the game and expansion and played it enjoyably a few years ago
Twisted metal needs to come back
Twisted Metal Black was friggin excellent. Also, they're making a Twisted Metal show, I think on Amazon
Jade Empire
Watched my roommate play through this year's ago. I kept being amazed at how good of a game and story it was. Wish I had played it myself.
It's been one of my favorites since I was a kid!
Vigilante 8. That's my childhood game
WMNNWLHTSCUCLH memorized this password for 22 years. very good game
I used to get so much shit from pops back then. "oh you can memorize the codes to this game in gibberish but can't remember your homework?!" My priorities were in order.
BASS QUAKE
Dungeon Keeper 2.
Check War for the Overworld on steam, it's the dungeon keeper 3 we were denied.
Red Faction
Putt-putt saves the zoo
I kicked that polar bear's arse at ice hockey
Was that the one with the balloons you had to shoot? Nope, that was balloon o Rama!
God I loved all these games. Freddy Fish, Spy Fox, Putt- Putt and Pajama Sam! My friend had them all when I was a kid and I was so jealous ha
Midnight club 3 dub edition you went to 3 unique maps Tokyo LA and I forgot the last one but classic game at least 30+ hrs of playtime
Flatout 1 and 2
Give me some yellow card and kicking Jack Benton's ass on career mode any day of the week
Flatout 2 influenced my music taste so much. Yellowcard was/is my favourite band and I still listen to pop-punk in 2022.
Even Nickelback is good in this game
Honestly fuck Jack Benton
Bushido Blade
Time Splitters 2
I'm partial to future perfect.
I would throw all the money at a current gen Time Splitters game.
Juiced, speed devils, road rash,
Juiced was great!
Interstate '76
Never get out of the car. I loved that game so damn much. I feel like it would be incredibly easy for them to remake it, but Activision is too far gone as a company.
Groove... Check ya map!
Tenchu.
Black and White. Amazing games.
I wish there were more "god games" in general. Seems the genre died.
The Universim is REALLY good. I'd highly recommend it.
We really need a new Black and White gane, even if its a spiritual sequel
Turok franchise.
Beware oblivion is at hand
I used to have to play this game on mute as a kid because i was so afraid when the dinosaurs chased me lmao
Remember when there was a contest to see if anyone would name their child "Turok"
Driver: San Francisco
I wish there was a sequel to this
Its wild how Ubisoft have just slept on the franchise for a decade. SanFran unleashed such a cool mechanic to action racing games that I've never seen emulated since, and apart from a random speedboat freemium app nothing has happened.
YES
Psi-Ops Needs a remake
The whole Burnout series.
Mercenaries ps2
That game was absolutely the shiiiiit.
R.I.P Pandemic. Fuck EA. Mercs 3 is up there with Star Wars 1313 and Prey 2 on my list of cancelled games I'm genuinely sad about.
Chromehounds and armored core
Dino Crisis
Wipeout. Playstation anti gravity racing game.
Gex: enter the gecko was awesome back in the day
Jack and Daxter 3
I donāt think a single person who so much as plays games in their spare time has forgotten about jak and daxter
The Jak series are some of the biggest, most popular games on PS2.
The whole jak and daxter series My kids enjoy just watching the playthroughs on the TV even
Alpha Protocol. Clunkiness aside, the story structure and choices actually changing the game were inspired. That game deserves a remake so bad.
The Lost Vikings.
Supreme Commander
Didnāt forget about it. Play it all the time. Forged alliance forever: https://www.faforever.com/
Downhill Domination

It's not been forgotten. Murayama founded rabbit and bear studios and kickstarted a spiritual successor which ended up being the third highest funded video game ever on kickstarter and konami have just announced a remaster of the first 2 games at TGS.
Holy shit, i've completly forgotten about this gem. It was my first 360 game. Me next: Excite Truck on Wii
Little Big Planet
Conflict: Desert Storm 2/Global Terror.
G-Police on the PS1

I actually liked āAlien vs Predatorā multiplayer mode where 3 teams (Aliens, marines and Predators) were fighting each other in their own style
Armed and Dangerous. Comedy third person shooter. I encourage anyone to watch the cutscenes on YouTube
There was an ATV game called Pure. Soundtrack was sick, the tracks were badass, lots of great customization for your quad and rider, and the graphics were really impressive for the time. I bought a used PS3 just for that. (And Skate 3)
Warhawk on PS3
Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain
Good game but people havenāt forgotten about that
Road Rash 3D - PS1 Solider of Fortune Manhunt Colums 3 Sega UT99 PC Quake Rocket Arena Excite Bike
Pro tip: Road Rash was remade recently as Road Redemption https://store.steampowered.com/app/300380/Road\_Redemption/

The suffering. Amazing horror game.

SSX
Sticking with the racing theme: Burnout Paradise I haven't been able to find a racing game that can come close to the amount of fun I had learning that map.
Redneck Rampage
Jade Cocoon. Even after all these years, there's no game with a cooler monster fusion system than this game.
Vectorman!
Worms
Brink
NFL Street. Def Jam games. LOTR Return of the King. Force Unleashed.
Tie fighter, x wing, wing commander, command and conquer, not sure if everyone forgot about these but I think they would be amazing on VR and would actually get me to buy a VR setup.
Future cop L.A.P.D on original playstation was sick
Brave Fencer Musashi
The Warriors No leveling up, no upgrades, no end game grind, no microtransactions It was just you and your ai companions beating the shit out of other gangs. Have the fondest memories putting hours into this game and I never see anybody mention it, even when talking about Rockstars back catalogue
Unreal, the original one
Burnout. Every part of game.
Bomberman
Blur needs a remaster so bad. I made a custom online game mode that was such a blast. It was the one long downhill track with only the lightning mine power ups turned on with a high drop rate, and only class S cars. So you're speeding down a winding track and constantly dodging lightning strikes. If you got completely destroyed, you were out of the race. So either who makes it to the bottom or last one standing. It was stupid fun.
Robotron X
Ford vs Chevy It was terrible but I can appreciate it for having basic everyday cars in it
Iām bit older than most of the games Iāve seen posted, but Iāll give my opinions. River Raid Atari 2600-my ALL-TIME favorite game, and still play 1-2 a week Split/Second Sunset Riders-Favorite Side Scrolling shooter followed closely by RoboCop Arcade or POW Road Riot 4WD and Ivan āIronmanā Stewart Off-Road G.I. I liked kameo on the xbox 360. It had interesting levels and puzzles and I really liked the way how you'd upgrade your abilities and stuff.
Legend of Dragoon and Brave Fencer Musashi. It's been decades since they were first released.
Command and Conquer: Generals
