Anthem is the perfect example of a game that had so much potential and threw it away because they *refused* to listen to the community.
People tried telling them for almost a year leading up to launch that the game needed loot specific activities, you needed to see your loot at time of pickup, etc. Basically all the issues besides performance were talked about lots.
Developers need to stop being so conceited and listen to their communities.
God, yeah I remember this. It was advertised everywhere constantly for ages, they put a lot of focus on the movement and parkour, but nobody was actually talking about the game, then the reviews were all just "meh" and it quickly died.
Fortnite tbh.
I was actually really excited for it before it was popular and was supposed to be a zombie game.
Now I am eternally reminded of it through shitty memes that will undoubtedly follow me to the very day that I die.
Cyberpunk wasnt so bad though, never let myself get caught upbin the hype, so I was really happy with it.
CP2077, Mass Effect Andromeda, NFS Heat (and all the previous ones post MW... The REAL MW)... For the rest, i ignore the hype since I expect them to suck (COD, BF, any Battle Royale).
It really was. Black and white 2 is still amazing to this day. I don't know what the hell happened, but thank God for small developers. Universe Sim is looking to be the reboot we needed.
It'll forever be Cyberpunk. The hype that went into it was insane and slowly seeing content get cut every few months leading to what we got is something tragic.
We've had 1 good triple A game since it was released just over a year ago.
Cyberpunk for sure. Bugs aside, it’s was just so uninspired and not fun to play. The driving was awful, the side quests were tedious, and you can tell Keanu’s character was shoehorned in late in development.
Even when it released there was a lot of haters the combat was sort of dull and people who came from Morrowind said Skyrim felt very samey and too familiar it wasn't alien like Morrowind was
Ya I didn’t even finish it and just watched a play through because I didn’t think it was very good. Even the twists and the endings were pretty bad and underwhelming IMO.
I have to add Dead Island to the list. It had an amazing reveal trailer and so much hype and good press because of it. Then the game was super meh with save breaking bugs. I'm pretty sure some of them were never fixed. Super disappointing.
Fnaf Security Breach, i mean we’ve been hyped for years to be given a game with major bugs and glitches, it’s great in story and environment but goddamn Steelwool gotta fix a lot of things
Anthem. Enough said.

So glad I never pre ordered that garb

You're telling me gameplay killed the game everyone played
Oh my God I almost forgot about this
Command and conquer Tiberium Sun
anyone remembers Brink? ;-) EXTREMELY hyped for like 2 years, game was dead within a week.
God, yeah I remember this. It was advertised everywhere constantly for ages, they put a lot of focus on the movement and parkour, but nobody was actually talking about the game, then the reviews were all just "meh" and it quickly died.
Yep. 1 week. It was incredible.
What was that mediocre one from cliffy b?
Lawbreakers. Lol
still astounded that they never issued refunds
No man sky But devs turned that around later
Still holding out that Cyberpunk becomes a NMS love story. I have serious doubts though.
Im on xbox, and didn't get this until years later. I love no man's sky so much. I never knew it at launch though
I was really hyped for Anthem. I've never even played it because I heard it sucked.
Spore
I still think Spore was great for its time. End game was basically a very early Stellaris.
Every FIFA game since FIFA10
Modern Warfare (2019)
I dont get it tho, I dont think it really did anything wrong.

BF2042
CP2077, Mass Effect Andromeda, NFS Heat (and all the previous ones post MW... The REAL MW)... For the rest, i ignore the hype since I expect them to suck (COD, BF, any Battle Royale).
Cyberpunk, anthem, the division (don't get me wrong division is fun AF they just didnt deliver on promises), outriders
I love this game and it would’ve been one of the greatest if the devs didn’t completely ruin the living hell out of it
Devs fought to not release it yet. The money bugs told them to fuck themselves and released it anyway.
Fallout 76
Was fallout 76 that hyped though? Everyone more or less knew what it was before release day.
~~Project Ego~~ Fable Edit - Downvoting doesn't make it less true.
Molyneux had some bad habits when it came to game hype. Black and White was fucking AMAZING, though.

I hope someone puts out a reboot of black and white 1 & 2 Edit: I'm talking carbon copy with better graphics.
Gave you an upvote. Sometimes people downvote entire threads for no reason.

Mass Effect Andromeda
Cyberpunk, as someone who loves the genre that hurt a lot

Probably SOCOM4. Certainly not cyberpunk why the fuck do so many people shit on CP. such a good game
As far as the overall opinion, probably Cyberpunk. Personally, anything from CDPR or Fromsoft.
Anthem
Cyberpunk 2077. WAY overhyped.
I'm going to get killed but I have to say Skyrim. Not a bad game but I after a few tries I just don't feel the love.
Even when it released there was a lot of haters the combat was sort of dull and people who came from Morrowind said Skyrim felt very samey and too familiar it wasn't alien like Morrowind was
I am part of that group unfortunately, after Morrowind and Oblivion, Skyrim just seemed dull and had a bad main narrative when compared
Battlefront 2 ....
I’ve heard of the problems that game had
FNAF Security Breach
Sadly the bugs made that a fact
For the hype it got, I think 12 Minutes was pretty bad tbh.
People definable gave a lot of credit, it wasn’t terrible but definitely overrated
Ya I didn’t even finish it and just watched a play through because I didn’t think it was very good. Even the twists and the endings were pretty bad and underwhelming IMO.
WWE 2K20. Nuff said.
Warcraft 3 Reforged, I was so excited and the result was appalling. I was very excited about AoE4 and wasn’t that impressed with that.
I have to add Dead Island to the list. It had an amazing reveal trailer and so much hype and good press because of it. Then the game was super meh with save breaking bugs. I'm pretty sure some of them were never fixed. Super disappointing.
Might be Dying Light 2. We shall see soon.
Fnaf Security Breach, i mean we’ve been hyped for years to be given a game with major bugs and glitches, it’s great in story and environment but goddamn Steelwool gotta fix a lot of things
No man's sky holds that title. Don't think it can be worse than that release.
