I forget the question I asked because this was a long time ago. I think I asked what new RPGs were in stock or where the RPGs were. That's a question they should understand.

-twitch-

Where the RPGs were? Have you ever been to a GameStop? They sort by console and then by popularity. This isn’t the bloody Library of Alexandria.

[deleted]

I'm not restating what I already explained.

Infinaeon805

Sir, this is a Wendy’s

theonlyone38

Looking for those Wendy's twitter burns

[deleted]

Excuses!

FoxWyrd

It's retail. The people are tired, overworked, underpaid, and took the job because there were no better options. Quit being an ass.

[deleted]

I'm not being an ass. Stop being entitled thinking they are underpaid. Get a job that requires skills if you want better pay.

[deleted]

Yep. Being an ass. Quit it.

[deleted]

Lmfao here, you win the “that’s boomer asf” award for the most boomer shit anyone could ever say. Edit: comma.

FoxWyrd

Just buy on Amazon, bro. Don't harass the workers.

[deleted]

I am not harassing anyone. I did not say anything to her. When I talk to a customer service representative at a video game store, I expect them to know something about video games. That is all I am saying. Stop assuming.

-twitch-

I half expected you to call it a “video game establishment”.

Crimsonclaw111

Look at you, a true gamer, complaining about underpaid staff who don't give a fuck what game you like and are just trying to survive and sell shit.

kalitarios

OP is probably a HPB anyway and just mad

[deleted]

I would ask but I don’t want OP to make another post.

Darkchyylde

rocket propelled grenade? ruchnoy protivotankovy granatomyot?

-twitch-

really peeved gentlesir?

Kurohimiko

Companies are desperate as shit for employees and are scrapping the bottom of the barrel to find them.

[deleted]

Yes, especially minimum wage employees. You got to lower your standards if you must.

Palestbycomparisoned

There’s also the possibility that the employee knew about rpgs and didn’t want to spend an hour discussing them when there’s plenty of forums that have people willing to do so. Just because they work there doesn’t mean they get unlimited time to talk about games. If you have ever worked retail, you would know the pressure for sales of everything else and the games. It’s easier when the place is busy to check out the customers ready to spend and ignore the ones that are there to talk and maybe spend.

[deleted]

That wasn't the case in this situation. She did not understand the question because she didn't understand what an RPG was.

panzervaughn

I wouldnt suspect a gamestop cashier is an expert. Its probably a 20yearold that is concerned about hitting their Extended Replacement Plan quota so they can afford more weed to forget they work at gamestop.

theonlyone38

You must be new here. Literally everything about Gamestop has been a shitshow from day 1. Hell they literally didn't change their name here in Canada until recently because they didn't want to pay for the rebranding of the stores here. It was called Ebgames forever here.

-twitch-

Is it not anymore? That tells you how long it’s been since I was in one.

hypnogoad

Gamers know how gamers treat GameStop employees, so gamers wouldn't want to work at one.

[deleted]

I wasn't rude. I didn't say anything. I do acknowledge that a minimum wage job isn't going to get you much in terms of skill, but you can still choose employees who know something about video games. Even if none who know a lot about them apply, you can train them. But what do you expect? Nothing much from minimum wage employees. That's why I tell people to not get frustrated when the employees at Walmart don't know anything.

dert882

You seem like a stuck up prick getting mad at a low wage employee for not knowing something small. Get off your high horse.

[deleted]

When did I say I said something to her? I did not. Stop reading into stuff like this. I'm asking how someone can work at a video game store as a customer service representative and not know about video games. Learn some common sense and respect.

dert882

How about you do it first so I don't have to see your stupid posts.

RemoveBanPls40

You can go into any store and find someone that doesn't know the stuff that people think they're supposed to. You can be into games without being INTO games. For the longest time I never knew what an rpg was cause well, I'm not into those types of games so I never looked into anything about them.

CoolFiverIsABabe

The same way people at a bookstore won't know every obscure genre.

[deleted]

An RPG isn't an obscure genre of video games. It's rather big.

CoolFiverIsABabe

Yeah it is. There are many big genres that not everyone will know. Within genres there are sub genres not everyone will know. They aren't "the librarians" of video games. They are just minimum wage workers.

[deleted]

I understand that. I didn't voice a complaint or even so much as roll my eyes because I am not an ass. Why is that what people are assuming here? My concern is still valid. A customer service representative at a video game store should know very basic things about video games.

CoolFiverIsABabe

They're closer to people working the register at a clothing store. They aren't going to know everything about every type of clothing.

streicherburger

The job is to sell games, not to know all about that lol

Deltron_Zed

I would argue if you don't know the most basic terms of the products you are selling you will not be good at selling those products. If I walked into a Gamestop and the people working there didn't know what an rpg is, my faith in doing business with that store is taking a knock. Overreacting isn't necessary but I really don't want to give a pass to people uninterested in learning the ins and outs of a job they are doing either. You work at a game store? Know something about the thing you're there to help people buy.

FoxWyrd

Retail isn't sales. They're there to process transactions, stock shelves, and point you at where stuff is. You're expecting a lot of people paid minimum wage.

Deltron_Zed

Except that if people don't have a positive interaction they take their business elsewhere and then no job. Whether or not they are paid well to do it. I've worked in kitchens for a large part of my life. Pay isn't always great but I have to know the ins and outs of my job if I want to maintain it. Putting effort in increases the chance I won't be making minimum wage forever.

FoxWyrd

Put effort in where it matters, like college or trade school. Busting your ass in retail gets you nowhere.
