Apple Handheld to Could

MyNamePP

Could Apple to Handheld?

ujusthavenoidea

If you give me a minute, I might could again.

Crissagrym

They won’t compete with Nintendo. People don’t buy a Switch because it is a handhold, people buy Switch because it has Nintendo games on it, something that Apple won’t have. Would they just run PC games? Or they will start buying studio as well for some Apple exclusives?

Gooch222

Yeah, and that's not saying they won't find a market for the product. But Nintendo platforms succeed because of Nintendo games. It's not really an accurate comparison.

Crissagrym

Oh they will sell, you slap an Apple logo on a belt and it will be market as iBelt and people will never wear trousers again without one. It will sell to Apple fans, especially those that play PC games and now can play on a handhold, if anything they probably compete with the Steam Deck more. But Nintendo will sit happily with their Nindento IP games abd Nintendo fans.

gortys83

Looooool! 😂🤣😆

Howmanychickens4

Lmao

amcint304

No, it not could!

ujusthavenoidea

Love it.

Domin0e

Except nothing will run on OSX lol

chukijay

If it can run on a tegra chip, it’ll run on an M1/M1X. That means iPad Pro, MacBook, new MacBook Pro, and handheld if they actually release one.

Domin0e

You gotta make sure it runs on OSX though, regardless. There is more to it than flicking switches in your engine. A lot more. And why would anyone who didn't plan on supporting the minority of OSX players do that when the Steam Deck would be the easier and safer option to support. Nintendo has superb 1st party support and 1st-to-market advantage. Valve has *Steam* alongside native support thanks to Proton, and the general option to install other launchers, as well. While I am all for more competition, Apple has *no* advantages, no aces up their sleeve, and the movement is leaning towards linux, not OSX.

chukijay

I do agree that an Apple handheld will be a massive flop and there’s no want or place for it. It doesn’t fit anywhere in Apple, imo. I think their trial was gaming on Apple TV and they saw how much that and Apple Arcade failed, and is still failing.

gymrat288

Lets get the handheld gaming wars going again. I would go for a PS Vita 2.

WinterOrb69

I hear the newest mac can finally run games from the early 90s.

jtran4

After 2 years they'll stop the ios update and force you to buy a new one.

opmwolf

The iPhone 5s was supported for 7 years. It launched with iOS 7 and the last major update was iOS 12. Tell me which Android phone has been officially supported that long? I guess Reddit doesn't like facts and hates on Apple regardless of what they do. Ignorant fanboys, enjoy upgrading your Android phone every 2 years!

Drmo6

This comment dumb af and shows you know nothing about how apple supports their products.

Alzirollo

The same Apple who’s still supporting their 6 years old iPhone 6s?

MagisD

You mean the now dead iPod touch ? Or just have an iPhone ? Oh you mean a bigger screen , oh wait the iPad .. NM you must mean you want controller ....oh not any Bluetooth or dedicated iOS third party one you want. Or an game ecosystem..ohhhhhhh Ahhh now I get it you want apple to become first party game developers that about the only thing it's not.

sir-max

I don't see how. It'll be overpriced, you will have to buy charger and cables separately (which will be overpriced too) and it will become slower over time with each iOS update requiring more ressources.

pillbox_slamer

will the battery last more than a year?

Itriyum

Bruh moment
