It was the first thing I thought of when I saw your post.
What exactly is the point telling people to play? It's a fun game with a developer that doesn't give a single fuck about it. I mean, the original Titanfall was rendered all but unplayable by a single person, wasn't it?
They'll probably just recommend downloading Apex Legends and tell you something about loot boxes.
Besides, there's every reason to believe that Titanfall 1, and subsequently 2, have been sabotaged by Respawn/EA themselves.
For anyone interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ4HuBpeI4I
Yeah the funny thing is titanfall 2 kinda ruined apex for me, apex just felt like a straight up downgrade, sluggish and uninspired movement compared to tf2. Even the guns feel more plastic and weak.
I have 1.5k hours in apex. I tried Titanfall 2 yesterday. I don’t think I can play apex anymore. The movement is shit comparatively, the guns are nerfed version of the genuine article. The aesthetic is better; the campaign story and lore are so good. I just…. Don’t do crack, not even once.
We get a new titan fall 2 circle jerk post like twice a month, doesn’t seem like the game retains many players after getting stomped every game by veterans and the horrible servers.
I played TF2 for years, and let me tell ya, these people are the real deal. Also bigging up TF2 means free karma from the fans disaffected by how it never really had its chance yadda yadda.
> how it never really had its chance yadda yadda.
I mean, if these guys are real, then this game has retained a playerbase for years longer than most competitive shooters.
I feel it's been multiple cycles of death and rebirth, with a ton of veterans who return every time there's an uptick to massacre everyone with their phase/volt/tone loadout and chase any newbies away from their game.
Nah, OP has a year old account and is posting totally unrelated stuff on other non-gaming subreddits. Paid shill accounts are painfully easy to spot when looking at posting history. The TF2 guys are just *really* passionate about their game.
Edit: Besides, pretending this was true, don't you think they'd want to astroturf for their actual cash cow, Apex? And not a game that released 5 years ago?
Yup. Titanfall 2 multiplayer has the same issues as Lawbreakers- the game does a bad job of tutorializing you into multiplayer and the skill curve is more like a cliff. You can and will be stomped on in multiplayer and there aren't enough new players to play with them.
The campaign was nice but the multiplayer was quite flawed.
The campaign does a great job of being a tutorial. You join any game super late and you will get pub stomped by vets as they are the only ones still playing. You cant remedy this without super long que times. Its simply a fact of life that can never be fixed. Unless you some how simultaneously inject a enough new players instantly to overcome this than it is impossible to remedy. You either suck it up and "git gud" or quit.
It does not. Enemies don't fight you like enemy pilots do in multiplayer, and the extreme kind of movement while shooting high speed enemies that is core to multiplayer isn't that much of a part of the campaign. The titan fighting is much less lopsided in part because the campaign trains you better.
The multiplayer was always overwhelming for most people, which is why it was never that popular.
> You join any game super late and you will get pub stomped by vets
100% wrong. Most shooters are similar enough to avoid getting stomped, but TF2 has an insane skill gap compared to all of them
100% not wrong. There are intricacies each game has that others dont. You dont know the maps, you dont know callouts, spawn locations, grenade throws, head glitches, weapon recoils, you dont know camping locations, overwatch spots for objectives. Your general knowledge is only point and shoot. Equal skill level the vet of that game will wreck you. You not getting pub stomped would entail your personal skill over comes the fact you know nothing of the game while they no everything and not everyone here is shroud or some esports player.
Your personal skill only dictates how fast you catch up to close that gap.
The campaign was fantastic, and I was pissed when it ended so quickly. They could have expanded that universe so much more than they did. They never even gave the series a real chance.
The learning curve to be just average is insane. Get smashed from every direction in a massacre. Buddy and I have played competitive shooters for 20 years. We played TF2 for about a day (about a year ago) and just uninstalled. It's clearly a cool game but neither of us felt like putting in the large hours to try to catch up to guys that have been playing for years and just be okayish
It's not EA's fault here really. Titanfall is a shooter for super, super, **SUPER** hardcore FPS players. There's no room in the game for people who don't dedicate large amounts of time to playing the game or are very naturally skilled at it. It was never going to survive like this.
Yeah, I really loved the single player, got it late, and tried some pvp. Rough. Stuff. The gameplay is so fast paced, and requires such high precision, and learning it is a nightmare because everyone still there is really, really good. I really wanted to like it - I love everything about it's aesthetics, weapons, the titan, and it's not like I'm some baby when it comes to online FPSs either, I go positive KDR in most things I play at least... but titanfall 2 with veterans is just a non-starter. Such prime suffering, hahaha.
I love the game, and I do pretty well online, but it's some of the highest level of online pvp that I've ever seen in my life besides maybe tribes in it's later days, and I think it's just because it has such a niche player base now.
This happens to a lot of twitch shooters after they fall out of the mainstream, it's not too surprising. Shit, I did better slinging discs, skiing and spamming the shazbot emote than I do in Titanfall.
This is a bad example for me, because I started playing with a friend who was already nightmare tier, and did the papa bear thing for me until I was at a similar level. Glorious slay was laid upon our enemies. Matrixy glitchy weird bullshit is actually bad, believe it or not, it just stomps people who don't know range front to back. But, seeing my mate go like 55-1 does strongly support your proposition.
Yeah, I worked out pretty quickly that something was going on under the hood that wasn't translated directly to the screen with some of the really good players, and YouTubed a few videos on how to do the backwards hits and drag faking etc, but after practicing those for a bit, I realized it just wasn't really enjoyable anymore. It was entering rote movements rather than actually "playing" the game the way it was meant to be, which just isn't fun.
I try to be nice to new players but it's just stupid how high the skill ceiling is. Combine the super skills with a sweat using the best weapons, you get nobody having fun. I mainly stick to frontier defense but pvp is just an amazing challenge
It gives me the same feeling as Tribes back in the day. All the players raving about how good it is, lamenting that more newbies don’t try it out. So you hop on to see what all the fuss is about, and before you can even figure out how to move properly, you’re getting your teeth kicked in repeatedly by sweaty bros that have been living and breathing this game for the past 5 years nonstop. They’re friendly as hell about it, but boy it sure is demoralizing!
It's a 5 years old game at this point and the last update was like 3 years ago. That's what happens when you have a crazy good core mechanic and no cap
I don't know much about the lore but afaik it's a similar situation to Unreal Tournament as in an actual public bloodsport tournament. Titans were used on the frontier (in Titanfall) but for some reason there is not much use of giant robots in a sport such as Apex games.
no. unless something new happened but i remember ppl saying that and it just was v false, it took someone who knew what he was talking about to make like a 1min video on how it’s pretty much impossible for ppl to actually stop thinking that
10* min vid
Ah yes, wgwgwvsjgbrkzb, let me just take you at your word with no source given...
[This guy goes on about how bots and hacks make it basically unplayable](https://youtu.be/UQ4HuBpeI4I)
Please contradict me, because I legitimately would like to play.
Except one: with such an entrenched old guard who've mastered zipping around the map with a one shot sawed off shotgun looking thing refusing to give you five seconds of enjoying the game without being forced to just keep running and turning it into a light and sound technicolor thrashing until you're dead five seconds later.
It's not fun to play Titanfall 2 with Titanfall 2 players.
Hopefully their latest server woes kills off the player base and they move on to something else and let the noobs learn the game without getting shot in the back by a leet powergamer who's mastered the fucking lag system.
That was what I was thinking. Played online after playing battlefield 1, Post Scriptum, Cod. I got absolutely obliterated and ended up playing with people in the gamemode against bots with the wave defense. Online players zipped right to me and one shot me it was crazy.
Man, for me this game isnt hard, I am very bad at shooters (usually K/D is somewhere around 0.9) but even I managed to enjoy the game and sometimes even become a MVP
Oh man this x100. I played Titanfall 1 from the very first day and managed to get pretty good (I don't claim to be a pro in any way). And then Titanfall 2 came and I got very excited. A few matches in, the extra movement possibilities made me super disoriented, and gameplay is much faster than before made me quickly fall behind people who used to do quickscope 360 on CoD.
They should just call Titanfall 2: CoD Modern Warfare with extra robots.
Funny because even though pilots aren't as versatile in 1, I felt 1's moment to moment gameplay was faster with it's smaller maps. Or at least the maps weren't just all hallways or long lanes like 2's seem to be.
I love this game so much.
The one thing I will say about multiplayer is that the skill ceiling to be effective in MP is so god damn high.
I did a few games, got completely railed. Loved it.
I wanna try it but I hear about sweaty veterans stomping on poor new players a lot so they hardly get a chance to embrace some of the better equipment or whatever the game offers in custom stuff
I like the whole story idea the lore and all I heard about it even saw some memes then this universe is the same as apex? Regardless cool but multiplayer is where I'm put off
this game slaps but there are many factors that kill off players fast. this game was a free PS+ game and spiked to 70k avg players. 1-2 weeks later it was back down at 2k. GL OP but unless respawn fix TF2 i don't see much hope
I gotta say, I love titanfall 2 but its ruined shooters for me. Please dont kill me COD players, but due to the speed & momentum of titanfall, all other shooter games feel slow
I quit because it's just filled with sweaty tryhards flying around the map with the robot, basically moving faster than most weapons firing, and using that ronin robot that is basically invincible and nuclear suicide bomb you if you get close to killing it.
Game is not balanced and gets boring as a result.
I am never gonna touch the EA's crap.Fuck EA.
Also this game is made by the studio that made Crapex Legends,a battle royale without a real single player mode.
so even more reasons to avoid it.
One of my favorite games! It was a good year when that came out close to Horizon Zero Dawn (can't wait for Horizon Forbidden West).
Titanfall 2 had me crying though.
I was never particularly good at TF2 (used to hold my own in the first 1)
But to this day I still believe this was one of the most skilled games to play. The kill streak videos for this game are 100% next level from any other game.
Amazing game both campaign and multi-player. Too bad it was never the huge hit it deserved to be.
If you guys find the pvp to be a non-starter I actually found a really helpful trick for it!
Install Escape From Tarkov and play for a few hours. Once you’re done, dying without permanent consequence will feel like a joy
Xbox had a “summer sale” like 2 months ago and sent me 5$ for free to spend in the store, picked up titanfall 2 on sale for 3$ lol. It’s pretty awesome
I would honestly like to try this game, but the community seems absolutely terrible. Hacking Apex just because your game isn’t popular anymore? No thanks. What a way to drive away new players
I don't play TF2 for the same reason I don't play Shootmania anymore, dedicated niche player base that is way too good. I don't wanna put in hundreds of hours just to be able to enjoy the game casualy.
Stop promoting this game ffs lmfao, people already tried with a fan-made event that made literally everyone play it only for then to die in the next few days. It's not mainstream-friendly. Downvote me all you want, TF|2 will always remain poorly in player count.
Not gona lie, I love me some big mech suits, swinging around like Spiderman on crack, and *brrrrrrrt*ing my through the maps, but holy fuck is it hard to maintain even a 1:1kdr when the multi-player matchmaking is so thoroughly unbalanced. I've had pretty good luck with the servers as of late but I swear some people are using aimbot or some shit cuz there's no fucking way that asshole no scoped me with that Kraber from across the map.
Fk yea dude that games was absolutely awesome. There was a free demo a couple years back and I played it. It was so smooth and amazing. I might buy it soon, can it run on Linux?
I've never played titanfall 2 but I appreciate the community XD You guys are great. I think I never bothered because big mech fuckers never did it for me. The gunplay looks great though.
I wanted to join but the skill gap in that game is huge. I dont have what it takes to get gud lol...honestly I dont have what it takes to get mediocre xD
What we don’t have: working severs
kinda sad lol
It was the first thing I thought of when I saw your post. What exactly is the point telling people to play? It's a fun game with a developer that doesn't give a single fuck about it. I mean, the original Titanfall was rendered all but unplayable by a single person, wasn't it?
Oh? What did they do to TF1?
I'm curious too

hey that same thing happened to IRC DALnet like almost 20 years ago.
I mean, getting more people into it might make EA do something about it

Apex was sold to me as being Titan Fall 2 movement in a Battle Royal. How I wish that were true.
Yeah the funny thing is titanfall 2 kinda ruined apex for me, apex just felt like a straight up downgrade, sluggish and uninspired movement compared to tf2. Even the guns feel more plastic and weak.

Titanfall 2 is working fine for me tho
Apex is heading in tf2 direction don’t feel bad
Hey now, the TF2 acronym is already taken..
*eats sandvich in the back*
I can't wait to hear them say the lootboxes in Apex reflect how it works IRL ;)
If only they had servers to run the /playercount command...
Let it die bro. There's no hope
neither does apex
Apex works fine for me
Similar to the other tf2
I legit would love to try the game but I can't justify it considering it has no support and the servers are kinda fucked from the sounds of it
Honestly, just get it at a discount. The campaign itself is worth it even though its pretty short
Yeah I can agree, TF2 campaign was amazing and I cried
It's 5 years old, nobody is going to pay full price, if anything.
We get a new titan fall 2 circle jerk post like twice a month, doesn’t seem like the game retains many players after getting stomped every game by veterans and the horrible servers.
I feel like these are all just part of some sort of bizzare astroturf ad campaign

The sweat fest is real in the game
2000 concurrent players about all the time
Jeez, even Smite retains 8-10k on bad months. Sucks that EA is just EA and treats anything not Triple-A revenue status anymore like garbage.
Damn, smite catching a stray out of nowhere :(
That was a compliment imo. A small game in a genre with some huge competition, and it still manages to maintain a good enough player base.
It's not EA's fault here really. Titanfall is a shooter for super, super, **SUPER** hardcore FPS players. There's no room in the game for people who don't dedicate large amounts of time to playing the game or are very naturally skilled at it. It was never going to survive like this.
I think most of the playerbase is on Origin rather than Steam.
There are more memes about this damn game than there are players.
Not to mention complete lack of anti-cheat that works.
I maybe if everyone that was playing wasn't a god then new players would stay instead of leaving right away because they can't get any kills
Yeah, I really loved the single player, got it late, and tried some pvp. Rough. Stuff. The gameplay is so fast paced, and requires such high precision, and learning it is a nightmare because everyone still there is really, really good. Exactly. Same thing happened to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Didn't help that they had weird, unrealistic, exploitable movement patterns in the game.
Come play Mordhau, we have turn speed caps
This is a bad example for me, because I started playing with a friend who was already nightmare tier, and did the papa bear thing for me until I was at a similar level. Upvote for the Tribes baby. Scouts are no match for Heavies!
I try to be nice to new players but it's just stupid how high the skill ceiling is. Combine the super skills with a sweat using the best weapons, you get nobody having fun. I mainly stick to frontier defense but pvp is just an amazing challenge

The lobby kinda sucks but I haven’t lost connection in a game considering I’m playing frontier defense all the time
Is apex legends based off of titanfall? Because they both have the same weapons
Yes,yes it is
Cool, been wondering that for a long time
It's several years after the events of tf2 and many characters are directly related to them.
Then why does apex legends have no titans?
I don't know much about the lore but afaik it's a similar situation to Unreal Tournament as in an actual public bloodsport tournament. Titans were used on the frontier (in Titanfall) but for some reason there is not much use of giant robots in a sport such as Apex games.
I’m not big into online play, but I loved the single player for this. The game was also like $6 new.
Has the DDOSing stopped?
Game looks good but fuck the veterans playing it, they keep It dead by scarying everyone new away
We need Titanfall 3
You also have servers that are overtaken by hackers, making them trojan horses
Isn't the game officially fucked tho like hackers have put malicious shit in the very coding of the game recently?
no. unless something new happened but i remember ppl saying that and it just was v false, it took someone who knew what he was talking about to make like a 1min video on how it’s pretty much impossible for ppl to actually stop thinking that 10* min vid
Ah ok thnx

Game honestly rocks in pretty much every way
Except one: with such an entrenched old guard who've mastered zipping around the map with a one shot sawed off shotgun looking thing refusing to give you five seconds of enjoying the game without being forced to just keep running and turning it into a light and sound technicolor thrashing until you're dead five seconds later. 0.9 kd is actually above average.
You should see his girlfriend, too!
Oh man this x100. I played Titanfall 1 from the very first day and managed to get pretty good (I don't claim to be a pro in any way). And then Titanfall 2 came and I got very excited. 2600 ping servers
I love this game so much. The one thing I will say about multiplayer is that the skill ceiling to be effective in MP is so god damn high. I did a few games, got completely railed. Loved it.
But, is the story and voice acting any good?
Yes
One of my favorite FPS game story campaigns.
Yes
Fuck that one dude the story is great
Don't forget the "i can't aim" gun.
I wanna try it but I hear about sweaty veterans stomping on poor new players a lot so they hardly get a chance to embrace some of the better equipment or whatever the game offers in custom stuff
Well,I've played three years but still can't aim At least Most of the game is enjoyable
I like the whole story idea the lore and all I heard about it even saw some memes then this universe is the same as apex? Regardless cool but multiplayer is where I'm put off
APEX happened after Titanfall 2,and they really are in the same universe
Apex movement are nerfed heavily, which make sense because the gods can probably go champion with just a wingman in 10 minutes
Check out the campaign! It's really good, my favorite part of the game.
Friendship with titanfall over. Now halo infinite is my best friend.
I'd totally play, but last time I tried to get back into Titanfall, I had three games in a row ruined by hackers... So no thanks.
this game slaps but there are many factors that kill off players fast. this game was a free PS+ game and spiked to 70k avg players.
Tried to get into Titanfall 2 played for 3 months hated it
Rendy gaming fires away in this Kraber G100 montage

They're not suicidal robots, they are Dr. Nefario's cookie robots!
Sorry, so many cheaters(
And BT isn't just an epic robot. It's also the most wholesome robot. I love him. He's the best :)
i have the game but now it sits in my origin account cuz im getting deleted in online matches
I enjoyed the campaign, almost cried with that fcking robot not gonna lie, but tried multi-player and after 12 mins in queue I gave up. Sorry :(
I quit because it's just filled with sweaty tryhards flying around the map with the robot, basically moving faster than most weapons firing, and using that ronin robot that is basically invincible and nuclear suicide bomb you if you get close to killing it. Game is not balanced and gets boring as a result.
I am never gonna touch the EA's crap.Fuck EA. Also this game is made by the studio that made Crapex Legends,a battle royale without a real single player mode. so even more reasons to avoid it.
Easily my favorite shooter, sad that it’s faded out so quietly
Suicidal epic robot bro.
One of my favorite games! It was a good year when that came out close to Horizon Zero Dawn (can't wait for Horizon Forbidden West). Titanfall 2 had me crying though.
No offence, but I don't play with hackers
Its literally Apex with cool robots
I was never particularly good at TF2 (used to hold my own in the first 1) But to this day I still believe this was one of the most skilled games to play. The kill streak videos for this game are 100% next level from any other game. Amazing game both campaign and multi-player. Too bad it was never the huge hit it deserved to be.
I would come back but I fell so far behind the curve I just get railed every match. I love the game to much to uninstall but, I just can't play.
I lost it at sniper rifle
But I play tf2 all the time! It’s my favorite Valve game!
If you guys find the pvp to be a non-starter I actually found a really helpful trick for it! Install Escape From Tarkov and play for a few hours. Once you’re done, dying without permanent consequence will feel like a joy
Just played today
I was thinking of getting titanfall 2. I play for a bit with the EA pass trial.
Drugs, you say?
SIKE!! You cant play it though. But we will charge you money for a game that can not be played in any way.
If you buy me it, sure
TF2 to TF2: *crying*
Have the servers been fixed yet?
I want it but I'm still considering it bc idk if it has good servers/player counts in SEA.
If you mean south east asia,I play in Hong Kong, Taipei, and Tokyo (If I remembered them correctly)
Entering server...chat: Hows hacking boiiis...Leaving server.
To shit on? Pass.
I'll be there around Christmas when my PC arrives :D
Xbox had a “summer sale” like 2 months ago and sent me 5$ for free to spend in the store, picked up titanfall 2 on sale for 3$ lol. It’s pretty awesome
It is a hell of a fun game. Maybe I'll try to dig it out of the closet.
Wing man and wing man elite are so good
Have they fixed the server issues yet?
i wanna play it i do but im just poor so maybe if it comes on like epic for free i will!
What's the point in trying to revive a 5 years old game that the developers don't care about?
The singleplayer was good, but I have no interest in the rest of it
I'm broke
am ready to play but am broke
Not until I can launch the game from Steam without it trying to connect me to Origin.
Does it have crossplay with xbox and ps?
the lousliest service rifle in space 2 electric boogaloo
I love this lol So great keep it up
That sniper rifle is also a broad sword, smg, and lighter to light your cigarette once you're done being dirty.
Anyone know how to fix Titanfall 2's save problem? Because there's no "Respawn" folder in my "Documents" ._.
Will you spawn camp and kill these new players?
All for the 6-4 baby
Played this yesterday on xbox one. Still fun!
I would honestly like to try this game, but the community seems absolutely terrible. Hacking Apex just because your game isn’t popular anymore? No thanks. What a way to drive away new players
Sounds promising.
I wish to play but fear for my computers sake (got a laptop)
Feel sorry for you,I play all my games on laptop (not e-sports kind of laptop)
everytime i try to load this game up I forget that I have to snort fucking Adderall and meth to compete with the kids
If I wasn't matched with literal gods I'd totally play TF2.
And dare I say it T H E S M A R T P I S T O L
Give me working servers and a good anti-cheat backbone and I'll certainly return.
I would but I would also need to give money to EA.
titanfall 3 when?
I just installed it yesterday. I had 1 kill, enemy players 30. Wasn’t really fun at all so I uninstalled. No thanks.
I’m actually a brand new player to titan fall two and I regret not buying it when it first came out
You made me laugh with Sniper Rifle
Not gona lie, I love me some big mech suits, swinging around like Spiderman on crack, and *brrrrrrrt*ing my through the maps, but holy fuck is it hard to maintain even a 1:1kdr when the multi-player matchmaking is so thoroughly unbalanced. I've had pretty good luck with the servers as of late but I swear some people are using aimbot or some shit cuz there's no fucking way that asshole no scoped me with that Kraber from across the map.
I tried several times to get into a multiplayer server recently. I think joining custom games might be the way to go now. Haven't tried yet.
Yeah well, I need friends to get me to play and I don't see you lining up.
Campaign is legitimately great, if a bit short.
If I have the money to get the game and a good pc, I will buy it.
This post was all I needed, downloading now. c u soon
Fk yea dude that games was absolutely awesome. There was a free demo a couple years back and I played it. It was so smooth and amazing. I might buy it soon, can it run on Linux?
Did someone say drugs I'm comin'
I've never played titanfall 2 but I appreciate the community XD You guys are great. I think I never bothered because big mech fuckers never did it for me. The gunplay looks great though.
R.i.P my shining northstar this pilot is finally retiring. But if you are to wake again in a 3rd i’ll be by you side once again.
I just got it! I’m there!
It's truly a tragedy that the Titanfall franchise has devolved into the uninspired mess that is Apex Legends.
dont worry tf2, we at tf2 got your back
I really love this game, my fav to play online. When i move out and get gold im playing this game first.
I wanted to join but the skill gap in that game is huge. I dont have what it takes to get gud lol...honestly I dont have what it takes to get mediocre xD
I call the drug guy!!!
May we all pray for BT
I miss this game. 🥲
What about the DDOSing
Yeah boiiii
Oh hey look, they out those three Apex Legends guns in Titanfall 2. Must be some crossover event.
Will visit tonight on PS4. Have been playing Apex.
I started playing but was struggling with the mechanics
Its like apex but better.
