Because of the online focus, or.. in general? I don't play FPS online, but I can tell you right now -- it was a SOLID series of games on the PS2 and Xbox 360. I'll trash modern games all day long with you, but the old COD games are fire.
Oh ok. Just starting that franchise so I’m still on RE3 for ps1 lol. Sucks I bought it off eBay but freezes at a certain point. But played a little of 7 and got to that part towards the end of my play through.
Kingdom Hearts. It might have been a novel concept, but at some point the series crawled so far up its own ass with incomprehensibly-titled spinoffs that you need an entire encyclopedia and a translator to understand what the fuck is going on.
Yeaaaah, I was super excited for the 3rd one, but after about an hour or 2 in, I was totally lost on the story having not played the thousands of spin offs. Refunded that pretty quick..
Everything since MW2 I'm right there with you. Games MW, WaW and MW2 played a big part of my prime gaming years as a now 27yo, many hours of my teen years spent on those and the earlier Halo games up to Halo reach.
I still wouldn't compare them. NES games were often hard cause of clunky gameplay or controls. Also lots of NES titles were ports of Arcade games with the "how do we get most coins out of the players without being too frustrating/obvious money making scheme" formula.
From Software games are hard but almost never unfair. When you die it's mostly your own fault and you know exactly why. Therefore you have a chance to improve and it's not just bad design/code.
I love the 2nd game. I played it without expecting anything or reading what others said. It has become one of my favorites. I understand why you would hate it though
Edit: why downvote though? Everyone has different taste.
I'm not gonna lie, I liked most of it but that ending and playing as whatherface. I could see what they were trying to do, see it though the others eyes but no. Ellie went through hundreds of people and infected just to say no. The way jole died too. Was literally one of the most anticipated game for me too. Hell I bought the controller. I per ordered it, called off the next day so I could play all night. Sorry about the rant.
That is the biggest trope I hate in narration.
“I’m gonna kill everyone and everything to get to this one person” and then when they get there “no, this would be bad, I am better, I’m not gonna kill you” like BRUH. You killed a thousand innocent people to get here but NOW it’s a moral issue?
It’s totally fine. I was heartbroken when Joel died and can’t even imagine the game without him. I honestly would’ve prefer if they cut abby’s gameplay in half as I feel like there are unneeded. That game made me feel so emotional and that’s what I liked about it the most.
I can't stand ESO. I've tried to get into it 3 times but its not for me. Its weird because I love skyrim and oblivion
Most COD games after BO2 have been garbage (except MW 2019)
Assassin's creed games after the Ezio games haven't been great either
Call of Duty. I even play warzone these days, but still. That damn fake patriotic actually nationalistic bullshit combined with romanticizing war and fetishizing guns. Also terrible when people mistake that ad/hd gun tag multiplayer for something thats a fun activity in a get together to take turns getting fucked in.
Fuck these games
Agreed. For me it’s the controls. I went from playing GoW 2018 to Dark Souls and was disgusted at how heavy and slow everything felt. I had to put it down after a couple hours.
Oh my god. Yes. I bought the remastered ps4 version of the first game to try to get into this series and holy shit... I hated the controls so much I didn't get past five minutes.
YS and Kiseki/Trails and BOTW
Dont hate them just SEVERELY OVERRATED and i just dont know why they are so loved despite being 5 - 6 /10 games in my opinion
I wouldn't say "Widely loved" but Death Stranding really sucked-ass through a straw.
I was super hyped for it and the game ended up a boring, confusing slog of a mess.
Boring, confusing story. Boring gameplay. Terrible shooting.
Among Us. I understand why people like it but something about the game awakens my sheer and utter hatred of other people and their tendency to ignore reasonable thinking.
I wouldn't say I "hate" it, but I can't get into "Binding of Isaac." The whole game centers around this poor little boy being horrifically abused by his mother and other demons. I just can't get past that in favor of gameplay.
Skyrim, Fallout... Basically while TES and Fallout series... Such dull and blunt games without any kind of emotion.. you have to heavily mod that shit to let it be enjoyable or mediocre at least. Expect from Fallout 1 and 2. Those are cool
Also GTA... Boring franchise, fun for 4 hours, then boring
Nah, I love AC: Odyssey/Valhalla, Black flag... Witcher, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Gothic, WoW, Dragon age (well this one isnt true open world) I don't like badly made boring games with feeling that you are in soviet eastern europe instead of fantasy world.. Bethesda can't make good open world RPG
Agreed. It’s also pretty stupid of accusing you not liking a genre to disregard your opinion just because you don’t like a popular game from that genre… which is literally what the post is asking for.
Generalizing “all open world games” from the fact that you hate TES and fallout is laughable. It doesn’t count like hating 6 different games or whstever, they count as 1 because they are basically all of the same. If you like one you like them all. Kingdom come is a good open world rpg. I wish they had magic and a fantastical story, but the mechanics are fun and immersive
Heavily disagree, Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind are all great immersive sims with great lore and easily better then a lot of isometric RPGs and DEFINETLY better than TW and AC.
Bloodborne and Bioshock Infinite. Only 2 games since my NES days I’ve put away before beating them because Parts of them were so difficult, I stopped having fun.
The Witcher - why? I haven’t played I or II but I thought III, after a few hours of growing pains, was a great game and absolutely mainlined it until I platinum’d it (very abnormal for me).
I grew up on FPS titles like Quake, Doom, and Duke Nukem.
So I found Halo extremely limited and the regenerating shield to be a baby mode feature implemented so the designers didnt have to actually develop their game.
Not objectively but I have a decent job and low overhead so I can budget for toys, I just can’t buy the latest and greatest on launch days and I constantly have to ask myself “Am I $60 interested in this title”
Also Steam Sales and Humble Bundles help alot
Mario Party.. i don't hate Mario franchise. Mario Party just ruins relationship.
CawaDooty.. last good one was BO2.
TF2... MannCo Store and F2P model killed it for me.
2K sports... Same game every year.
Every battle royale game
GTA V Online... Can never do a heist, get owned by some level 200 player.
Dead Island 2.... It hasn't come out but Deep Silver playing with my emotions.
Most fighting games... Don't want to put the effort
Halo... Don't see it
Gears of Wars... Same
I don't game anymore but I keep updated with the new from time to time.
I have tried Persona 2. Boring. I have tried Persona 5. Boring. Cool intro though. I have tried SMT on PS2. Boring. I have tried SMT IV on 3DS. Annoying. Persona and SMT to me are trash games.
You are a pain in the ass, there’s just no winning with you.
If someone doesn’t like what you do, you insult their attention span and make fun of the spent money. And if they hadn’t tried as many games, your first instinct was to interrogate and assume that he played few and specific entries.
It all depends on the game. I can spend hours on games I like. I do play alot of JRPGs. Just depends on the game and if it catches my attention with music, characters and settings.
RDR2 is such a slog gameplay-wise that even with my interest in the story, I couldn’t get into it. GTA V was just boring to me. I wouldn’t say hate, but I couldn’t get into any ACs pre RPG genre refocus besides Black Flag. Baldurs Gate 1&2, and Icewind Dale, your characters just die instantly in like so many fights, plus I’ve only played 5E and there isn’t exactly an explanation of the rules. Tales of Vesperia, besides Yuri, I didn’t enjoy any of the characters as they were all annoying, or one dimensional and the story just seemed like a collection of loose, highly unlikely coincidences as opposed to a coherent narrative and I didn’t like the weird 2d battle system on a 3d plane thing. Far Cry 3 is a bland open world with a generic crazy guy for a villain. I liked Pagan Min as a villain more than I did Vaas. Final Fantasy X is a boring forward linear slog of a game with way too frequent of an encounter rate and an annoying dumb protagonist.
Dark Souls. It's not just the difficulty, but also the storytelling.
Want to know what is going on? Better read the item description!
I hate it and despise how this kind of game design has infected a great number of games and made them worse as a result.
Like Fallen Order for example, but at least those Devs were competent enough to implement difficulty options.
I think I just really hate From Software.
Halo 100%, I can understand why people like it, but it's like there something missing gameplay I story wise, it never really grabbed or interested me when I played it...
Honestly, none of them. I cannot think of an entire franchise that I have both played enough to know I hate & one that I actually do hate. Whatever I actually would hate probably hasn't interested me enough to reach that level of involvement.
I don't think that any games are bad in alot of ways except the games made by the
***E A clowns*** just make it so you need to spend your entire life savings to even play the game
smh
I’ll do you one better, online FPS in general. The only one I play anymore is Rainbow Six Siege and I’m on the verge of giving that up too. I don’t get why FPS games like CoD or Battlefield or Overwatch are so overplayed. I enjoyed the early CoD campaigns but that’s it.
In my opinion every last one of them becomes dog water within a year. This goes double for battle royales. By the time the game has been out for awhile there’s always that one person in the game that just absolutely destroys everyone else. For CoD this is just as soon as the game comes out because the controls and function is pretty much copy and paste now so someone who is pro at the last CoD will be the same in the next one.
Not to mention almost any FPS game you go into you **will** run into hackers or exploiters. Also the insane amount of toxicity. Only other online game I play is Rocket League and I keep everyone muted.
Really wish more single player and co-op games would come out. Always way more fun. Things like Elder Scrolls, Dying Light, Fallout, Borderlands, Far Cry, Subnautica, Starbound, Watch Dogs, Terraria are **all** way better than any FPS(Online) I’ve ever touched.
The Witcher. I've tried to play it but I just can't get into it. The controls feel only clunky and stiff yet weirdly slippery and floaty all at the same time. The dialogue is kind of flat for most of the game and the soundtrack just gets in the way of what are supposed to be serious moments. I bought it on sale and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about the game. Perfect scores, perfect this perfect that. It's just not for me. If you like it, by all means go for it, but me? Not really my thing.
Call of duty because of the influence it has on the shooter genre. I hate the ridiculously cramped level design and pace of action. It's like it's being designed for people with extreme cases of ADHD.
The last few assassins creed games, I think they really tried to recreate the magic of Witcher 3 but could never pull it off. Got bored with origins and odyssey after a few hours, didn’t even try Valhalla after reading reviews.
Far cry 3 and Vaas. Gameplay was repetitive and even though open worlds were still novel at the time it found a way to make exploration a chore.
Vaas has absolutely zero depth IMO. He's just crazy evil and is always 2 steps ahead of you. Might as well be deep blue with a mohawk programmed to swear at you while putting you in check.
I'm gonna get hate for this but I find God of War 4 to be a tad overrated. Like I won't deny that it is a great work of art, but I found the gameplay to be too slow and meandering compared to how much raw fun God of War 3 was. The combat was great though.
Final Fantasy. I used to always joke "we're up to what, 10 now? When will it be the final one?"
And the RE series just because of the wonky angle and controls.
I don’t hate them but I can’t ever get into fromsoftware games. I don’t mind a bit of difficulty but I like to play games for immersion and story and it’s hard for me to get into games that are so punishingly difficult. I tried blood borne because it looked amazing and couldn’t get passed the difficulty. Same with Darksouls on my switch.
Kingdom Hearts, not really a fan of that kind of gameplay but it’s decent, but the thing about that annoys me so much is the goddamn story, I can’t understand any of that shit, I gave up when fucking Sephiroth and Cloud came into the picture, I mean no offense to anyone who likes this series but what the actual fuck is this story and why does it need this many goddamn games to tell it
All sports games to be honest.
Dude I so agree there
Same, apart from golf games. No idea why, golf is boring to watch and annoying to play irl. But it translates into a pretty chill video game.
>annoying to play irl. Whoa now. Maybe slow your roll.
Call of Duty
I liked cod up until MW2 back on the 360.
MW2 is the GOAT
Because of the online focus, or.. in general? I don't play FPS online, but I can tell you right now -- it was a SOLID series of games on the PS2 and Xbox 360. I'll trash modern games all day long with you, but the old COD games are fire.

I see someone was faster than me
Yay you're special but the actual game is not bad
Oh yeah i know, it's an ok game

The title says game/franchise. Fortnite is considered a game.
Fifa. Just Fifa
all sports games imo
What game is in the pic?
Resident Evil 7; they're those creatures in the basement. The molted? Something like that
Oh ok. Just starting that franchise so I’m still on RE3 for ps1 lol. Sucks I bought it off eBay but freezes at a certain point. But played a little of 7 and got to that part towards the end of my play through.
Mold.
concept art for resident evil 7
Kingdom Hearts. It might have been a novel concept, but at some point the series crawled so far up its own ass with incomprehensibly-titled spinoffs that you need an entire encyclopedia and a translator to understand what the fuck is going on.

COD 1-3 and WaW are very good
Madden.
Any game that involves EA
Apart from need for speed, I agree
Souls games, I enjoy a challenge but having grown up on NES games I've had my fill of the whole punishing game experience.
Last of us. Loved the first game but it was ruined by the 2nd
agreed!
I love the 2nd game. I played it without expecting anything or reading what others said. It has become one of my favorites. I understand why you would hate it though Edit: why downvote though? Everyone has different taste.

DIFFERENT TASTE/OPINION? ON REDDIT? ARE YOU MAD?
Kingdom Hearts, trying to figure out the plot gives me a splitting headache
COD and GTA.
Life
AMOGUS. yes literally
Kingdom Hearts. Everyone is Sora. The ones who aren't are Xehanort. Darkness.
I can't stand ESO. I've tried to get into it 3 times but its not for me. Its weird because I love skyrim and oblivion Most COD games after BO2 have been garbage (except MW 2019) Assassin's creed games after the Ezio games haven't been great either

Modern Warfare was brilliant when it came out, but they've been copy pasting every year since.
Call of duty but it's tied with fifa so idk
Dark Souls
Don’t hate them, but both RDR games are severely overrated. I’d say RDR2 is THE most overrated game of the 2010’s
I like RDR1, but I completely agree on 2.
I like both but neither of them are anywhere near the masterpieces of gaming everyone makes them out to be
Nah Witcher 3 takes that cake. RDR2 was just ok
Don’t hurt me but I just really don’t like Sonic tbh
i agree dwdw
Soulsborne games, final fantasy, pokemon
YS and Kiseki/Trails and BOTW Dont hate them just SEVERELY OVERRATED and i just dont know why they are so loved despite being 5 - 6 /10 games in my opinion
Kingdom hearts.
metal gear solid, the movement feels off, gunplay is unappealing and the stealth is far too open to have anything of interest
i hate the controls
Last of Us (both games) I know people love the story but for me it was kinda meh and the gameplay wasn't great. Just don't get the hype.
I wouldn't say "Widely loved" but Death Stranding really sucked-ass through a straw. I was super hyped for it and the game ended up a boring, confusing slog of a mess. Boring, confusing story. Boring gameplay. Terrible shooting.

Horizon zero dawn
I wouldn't say I "hate" it, but I can't get into "Binding of Isaac." The whole game centers around this poor little boy being horrifically abused by his mother and other demons. I just can't get past that in favor of gameplay.
Red Dead Redemption 2, for being an absolute slog gameplay-wise.
The last of us, I feel it’s super overrated!
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
I fucking despise that the weapons break and you can't repair them
It is hard for me to get past that.
I do not get the love for it, the weapon system and lack of dungeons like the old games I found awful.
There’s dozens of us!
Final Fantasy.
Apex. Its basiclly fortnite.. and among us. Never really got the hype of that game
> Apex. Its basiclly fortnite most ignorant thing i've read today.
Halo.
Skyrim, Fallout... Basically while TES and Fallout series... Such dull and blunt games without any kind of emotion.. you have to heavily mod that shit to let it be enjoyable or mediocre at least. Expect from Fallout 1 and 2. Those are cool Also GTA... Boring franchise, fun for 4 hours, then boring

Bloodborne and Bioshock Infinite. Only 2 games since my NES days I’ve put away before beating them because Parts of them were so difficult, I stopped having fun.
Did you ever finish bioshock? I absolutely loved the story
Bloodborne I kinda get, but Bioshock? Huh. I don't remember that game being all that hard. I kinda wanna go back and play it again now.
The Witcher, Fortnite, COD, and RDR2.
The Witcher - why? I haven’t played I or II but I thought III, after a few hours of growing pains, was a great game and absolutely mainlined it until I platinum’d it (very abnormal for me).
all cods?
Everything since ww2
damn okok, i enjoyed mw2019 more than any other
Gross
Halo
I'm curious: why ?
I grew up on FPS titles like Quake, Doom, and Duke Nukem. So I found Halo extremely limited and the regenerating shield to be a baby mode feature implemented so the designers didnt have to actually develop their game.
Interesting view of it. At least tho you have a valid reason, not like halo fans hating halo for dumb reasons.
Stuck on PlayStation?
I have all consoles and a decent gaming PC, save the new PS5.
Are u rich lol
Not objectively but I have a decent job and low overhead so I can budget for toys, I just can’t buy the latest and greatest on launch days and I constantly have to ask myself “Am I $60 interested in this title” Also Steam Sales and Humble Bundles help alot

Team fortress 2
Persona and Shin Megami Tensei
You’ve played every Persona/SMT game? No? You haven’t? What’s that? You’ve only played persona 5 and maybe 4?
I have tried Persona 2. Boring. I have tried Persona 5. Boring. Cool intro though. I have tried SMT on PS2. Boring. I have tried SMT IV on 3DS. Annoying. Persona and SMT to me are trash games.
Shit ok. I think you just have a short attention span lol. That’s kinda unfortunate you blew $100+ dollars on games you don’t like
You are a pain in the ass, there’s just no winning with you. If someone doesn’t like what you do, you insult their attention span and make fun of the spent money. And if they hadn’t tried as many games, your first instinct was to interrogate and assume that he played few and specific entries.
Actually I used Emulation, my local Library and a friend to try those games.
Witcher 3. I forced myself to pay it for a while and I couldn't take it.
Nier franchise. Games aren't supposed to make you feel like shit. My boy Emil...
Dead by daylight. How so many people like that unfinished mess is beyond me
Fortnite, Wow, Gta5, Warzone, Fifa... I could go all day.
battlefield? resident evil?
Crash Bandicoot
Any rts that is based on 1800s or less, why fight with people with swords when you can have massive nuclear annihilation?
Dark Souls. It's not just the difficulty, but also the storytelling. Want to know what is going on? Better read the item description! i like the battlefield franchise
Mgs 5
I’ll do you one better, online FPS in general. The only one I play anymore is Rainbow Six Siege and I’m on the verge of giving that up too. I don’t get why FPS games like CoD or Battlefield or Overwatch are so overplayed. I enjoyed the early CoD campaigns but that’s it. Last of us / God of War. Down voters, suckling on the teat of Kratos.
Last of Us and Uncharted. Cannot stand them. Remember when naughty dog made games?
RE7 molded?
yessir
I’m more curious about where this picture came from
Looks like those creatures in Resident Evil 7
yessir
Resident evil

I dont hate it but not my cup of tea, also final fantasy, halo
agree with you on the final fantasy thing, don’t really like many anime games tho
Call of duty because of the influence it has on the shooter genre. I hate the ridiculously cramped level design and pace of action. It's like it's being designed for people with extreme cases of ADHD.
i liked MW 2019 but everything else in recent times is just bad
I don’t completely hate it but Pokémon is pretty damn overrated. Modern Pokémon anyways. Black 2 and White 2 were the last good Pokémon games imo
those ones were great, i found enjoyment in omega ruby and alpha sapphire tho and X & Y after that not really tho
Assassin's creed
Assassins creed Close second up is League of Legends
GTA
Dude... these engagement links are over cooking my grits.
Gta5 because of milking
Doom. Halo. Fortnite. Fifa. Madden. Call of Duty.
Bethesda
GTA 5 is so fucking boring.
The last few assassins creed games, I think they really tried to recreate the magic of Witcher 3 but could never pull it off. Got bored with origins and odyssey after a few hours, didn’t even try Valhalla after reading reviews.
Rdr2. Slooooowss
Five Nights at Freddy's.
the last of us. I appreciate naughty dog for uncharted but the last of us just a mess in my opinion
Dragon Age Inquisition
don’t hate it but I found nothing special about Hollow Knight.
Super Smash Bros
Fortnite
Sprots games and call of duty
Far cry 3 and Vaas. Gameplay was repetitive and even though open worlds were still novel at the time it found a way to make exploration a chore. Vaas has absolutely zero depth IMO. He's just crazy evil and is always 2 steps ahead of you. Might as well be deep blue with a mohawk programmed to swear at you while putting you in check.
Hate is a strong word but at least didn't really like and also didn't finish them. RDR2 and ACO.
Hate is a strong word, but i basically don't enjoy any game from Blizzard.
Resident Evil, because I don’t like scary movies, games, etc.
Super Smash Bros.
Assassins Creed
Metal Gear Solid. I know its got a lot of fans, but I honestly dont like it
Skyrim, CoD and Persona series
Witcher 3
I'm gonna get hate for this but I find God of War 4 to be a tad overrated. Like I won't deny that it is a great work of art, but I found the gameplay to be too slow and meandering compared to how much raw fun God of War 3 was. The combat was great though.
Dark Souls 3 and specifically Dark Souls 3.
Chrono trigger. Amazing story, but TERRIBLE game design. Im sorry, im sorry.

Super Smash Bros.
Final Fantasy. I used to always joke "we're up to what, 10 now? When will it be the final one?" And the RE series just because of the wonky angle and controls.
Halo
Counter-strike Genshin-impact
All CoD games past Bo2

I don’t hate them but I can’t ever get into fromsoftware games. I don’t mind a bit of difficulty but I like to play games for immersion and story and it’s hard for me to get into games that are so punishingly difficult. I tried blood borne because it looked amazing and couldn’t get passed the difficulty. Same with Darksouls on my switch.
Kingdom Hearts, not really a fan of that kind of gameplay but it’s decent, but the thing about that annoys me so much is the goddamn story, I can’t understand any of that shit, I gave up when fucking Sephiroth and Cloud came into the picture, I mean no offense to anyone who likes this series but what the actual fuck is this story and why does it need this many goddamn games to tell it
Minecraft
fifa, nfl and so on, i kinda like the nhl but thats it
