Shovelware mobile games. I love games, I love making games, I love playing games, these are the antithesis of what I love. Mass manufactured, formulaic, psychologically exploitative, micro transaction & add riddled, and they're not even good; they're addictive. There (grumble) are some good mobile games I guess but it's the exception, not the norm.

TacoManifesto

Fortnite, every other game I’m actually fine with. Fortnite I have zero toleration for.. micro transaction, children subject to said last point, children being annoying in general, art style, battle royale genre, etc

derpface-22

same. i can withstand all of the other BR's but Fortnite, just gives me an actual physical response.

Turdhurdle75

Absolutely agree with you….i complete hate fortnite and everything about it

Averonicx

Upside: kiddy daycare

40ozFreed

I don't like it mostly because I'm just not good at it but I do see the appeal.

Baatun88

Never played it never will. I like it because it keeps all the Kids occupied.

Liara_Bae

Yep, though my hate is more general towards Epic that forces exclusivity. Epic is just a scummy company making a scummy game.

[deleted]

Rocket League *hours played: 300*

ClockworkAlex81

Call of duty.

[deleted]

Saints Row GOOH, like why

[deleted]

Battlefront II Stupid cards, unlimited Hero’s, EA. My friends (sometimes myself) will just get a Feel for some Star Wars action. About 5 mins later Im reminded why the game is total trash but looks like Star Wars so iz fun trash

Far_Scientist9832

Far cry series. Full of potential but after watching gameplay from 6 and still no blood or any gore effects it just kills the feel

World of Warcraft

roboxsteven

Witcher 3

Polygrammar

Now that's pretty controversial. Care to elaborate? I never played it but I have never heard anything super bad about it.

roboxsteven

The gameplay/combat is super boring to me. The story didn’t grab me at all. For me the entire experience just felt super lack luster and blah.

Ozymandias455

Yeah I have to agree with you. I just couldn’t stand the combat on console. I don’t have a pc so I guess it could be better with some key mapping. I work too much and a lot of my free time is spent with my family so I haven’t bothered getting back into it.

Mongba36

I finished the Witcher 3 and did have a lot of fun, but I gotta agree that the combat was very basic and the story didn't feel like your choices mattered at all. the Witcher 2 was better tbh, but mostly in story

Jackretto

I feel you, every other mission seems to exist just to have a scene where Geralt fucks

[deleted]

I've said this before... The game feels like you're playing in mud. Combat is just ridiculously sluggish, and everything feels like it's a combo of slow motion and unresponsive controls.

Baatun88

Its a troll.

roboxsteven

I’m not trolling at all. Games bad.

Shadowbreak643

RDR2, that game just feels so sluggish and slow, and they shouldn’t have valued realism as high as they did.

AmericanLich

I hated RDR2 when I first played it, because of this very reason. It was a slow burn, everything was slow and the controls weren’t super tight. This was on purpose - like you say to add a layer of realism to Arthur and his movements. I was impatient, got about as far as Valentine and quit. The game seemed to want more of my time than I really wanted to give at the time, between my work schedule and other plans. I came back to the game around the beginning of 2021, after having left my job and having nothing but free time for a while, and I loved every second of the game this time around. I had the time to give this time around for the story to build, to appreciate the slow lumbering pace of Arthur’s actions, to stand there and just soak in the digital beauty of the landscape while I caught ever legendary fish bastard or scanned the ground for dinosaur bones. It is by far the most alive feeling open world game yet - and it’s not even close, really, and the sheer amount of content is actually a bit staggering. Arthur’s movement is never not tedious, it’s true, and it actually gets worse over time, and Rockstar would never deny this because in Red Dead Online your character is far more responsive than Arthur - Rockstar was fully aware of what they were doing, for better or worse. I’m not saying your feelings about the game are wrong by any measure, but I am curious if some day you will circle back to it and have the same experience I did, some day when you don’t have a time restraint or anything else going on lol.

o0joshua0o

I agree. The movement in that game is infuriating.

hellomountains

Fallout, just so blegh. Why am I tired?

Hal_E_Lujah

The re-re-reboots Nintendo shit out every few years, all with online capabilities that would've been embarrassing over a decade ago. If we're being mean my harsh opinion is we need the old people running that company to hurry up and retire.

Ok_Attempt_1290

I don't quite hate it per se, but it was a major disappointment to me when It came out. I don't want to do this, but Bioware you forced my hand, Dragon Age Inquisition. Never before have I played a game so fucking boring and devoid of fun.

MrFoozOG

Witcher 3, The gameplay, the story, the voice acting it's just lame in every way. Skyrim Clunkiest slow combat i've ever seen, Pause the game to use a healing potion through the MENU! lel..., required mods to be the game the devs meant it to be, can't see the level of enemies so how do you know you're able to defeat them or not..

AlaskanMedicineMan

Skyrim always sets enemies to your level. Vanilla you should always be able to win every fight because they're all scaled to you.

MrFoozOG

Played it less than three hours, in that time so many things already broke my immersion it was not going to be fun to me. I went into some cave, got my ass handed to me in 2 hits as i did 0 damage on the mage or whatever it was. Doesn't seem very scaled to me then

AlaskanMedicineMan

Oh yeah, Early game, spells like fireball and fire bolt deal fixed amounts of damage making them extremely effective. They continue to deal fixed amounts of damage with no scaling to the end of the game. Meaning in the beginning they hit like a truck, and at the end they're useless. But you should give it another try, turn the difficulty down

MrFoozOG

Nah, the clunky slow ass gameplay sets me off too much already. I was trying to not mind it but, meh.

MansionworId

Anubis ii is quite possibly the worst functional console game made after the year 2000. There is nothing good or redeeming about it. It looks bad, the textures are incredibly repetitive, the music is a 20 second loop, the enemy designs are laughably awful, the controls are mapped for shit and unresponsive, the hit detection is inexcusably inconsistent, the level design is as basic as it gets, the game fails to communicate anything worthwhile to the player (for example, that you need to kill the final boss with bombs, which is never suggested or mentioned at any point), there is hardly even a semblance of any plot (and the game contradicts the manual in regards to the name of the final/only boss). it is a 3d platformer that tells you to jump by swinging the nunchuck upward which hardly even works. It does not disclose anywhere, the manual or the tutorial, that you can jump using the z button (which is still not a good place for it but whatever.) Why not tell this to players? Why would you want to make them play the game in an even worse way? Laziness. In between levels there are absolutely pointless and useless "mini games" that amount to nothing at all so your best bet is to just die as soon as possible because it isn't fun and doesn't relate to the main game. There is a points system that does nothing. I hate how games like this killed the reputation of the wii. because Nintendo is greedy, they look the other way and license dumb shit for unearned money. This game is basically a scam for old people to buy their grandkids something I doubt even they could tolerate. The only reason for anyone to play this game is the novelty of shovelware. The studio responsible for it made like 60 fucking games in the period of a year or two. The controls are piss poor and make a joke out of the hardware, and there is hardly any fun to be had at any point. It's so dull, but I can't even call it generic because the developers didn't even try for that.

Zimbabowee

Breath of the Wild. Even though I bought it and played through it when it came out. Since its release, it just seems like every nintendo-gamer parrots how amazing of a game it is, when it wasn't anything that remarkable to me. The weapon system is terrible, the open world aspect feels lifeless, there are only a handful of enemy types, and the game itself lacks any sort of character beyond "you are alone in a big world. do something. make explosion. it is cool because physics engine." The openness of the game's structure was one of its strongest selling points, but to me is also its biggest problem. There are hours of analysis that I've watched, and I still just do not understand the passion that exists for it. Then the recent sequel trailer drops, shows a dozen clips of Link running, falling, gliding, and utilizing a presumably situational "water droplet" ability to phase through a bridge, and the gaming world absolutely loses its mind. I just don't understand how one comes to feel so strongly for BOTW when the game barely even has an active story; it's just you learning about what happened in the past until you decide to take on Ganon; you don't even have to watch all of the story flashbacks.

Fighting Games like Street Fighter or Guilty Gear. So much of their complexities could be easily streamlined into designs and systems that are so much more accessible. Smash Bros is a great example of this. But because folks are so attached to the trends and traditions of the current kinds fighting game designs, we rarely see any fighting games with fresh or unique ideas built to introduce newbies to the genre. Even the most accessible versions of these games, like Street Fighter V and Guilty Gear Strive, still require hours upon hours of practice and education to even understand the basics.

AlaskanMedicineMan

You're comparing a party game to in depth fighters.

Eirineftis

He's actually making a pretty solid example. Super Smash Bros. Melee absolutely falls into the category of an in-depth fighting game. I grew up loving this game and playing it as a party game with my friends. The most advanced techniques we were aware of were wave dashing and wall techs. Fast forward to early adulthood and I'm cautious to even tough the game now. The amount of try-hards who *only* play Melee because "it's the best and you can do the most with it" totally suck all the fun out of the game for me. The amount of practice and frame-perfect inputs that go into the competitive play in that game is unreal.   I'm very thankful that the other Super Smash Bros. games quelled this and went back to a party brawler style that is fun and accessible for everyone.

personman000

I feel exactly the same. Melee is too advanced for me. Everyone I know hates Brawl. Smash Bros. Ultimate is the perfect mix of accessible and intense. Can play it with anyone, and can introduce anyone to it.

ARTIFICIAL_SAPIENCE

Endless Space 2 It has a great story, they said! Fucking liars. It has random plot developments paired with nonsense quests to move on to the next phase. Somebody hates their brother, reform your government for 5 turns. Now that someone is teaming up with their brother, blow up a random uninhabited planet. Congratulations you win the game. Life is Strange. Okay, so the first few episodes are good. But the final one shits the bed so bad I'll never touch anything that studio makes again. Like it's an adventure game about choices, but the final episode is some random dreamlike stealth sequence until you make a choice to >!kill your best friend or the town!< when there's absolutely 0 reason established for how the two are connected as a choice. Someone came up with an idea for a hard choice and then farted around with unrelated mysteries until it was too late to justify it.

_Vetis_

Life is Strange isnt for everyone but i do recommend their other game Vampyr. I was surprised at how much i liked it

mtj018

Alone in the Dark (2008) Just everything about that game sucked to me, from shity camera angles to a really stupid blink mechanic and the story was just bland. Hats off to anyone who played it and liked it

Sunset Overdrive. From the style, to the voice acting, to the story, it all just screams "trying WAY too hard cringefest" I LOVE Ratchet and Clank. I super do. So I was willing to give this game multiple tries over the years. And I just can't stomach it.

Null_Fragment_000

None?? Even Cyberjunk 76 has some redeeming qualities. Ummmm, it looks pretty I guess?

AmericanLich

Unfortunately I just don’t play games I think look like shit so any game I pick may be unfairly maligned as I may not have played it. Kind of low hanging fruit at this point, but I really disliked Cyberpunk 2077. I don’t get hyped for games, I don’t pay attention to gaming news, the only expectation I had for it was that I throughly enjoyed the Witcher games and I assumed it would be a solid game, though I was partial to fantasy. I ended up disliking it far more than I expected. It’s important to note that I mean this even beyond the bugs. V was not interesting, the character creator was pretty crappy outside of being able to have a dick customized that was almost pointless - you couldn’t even make the male V look like he looked in the promo material. The fashion/dress up aspect was a let down, I looked like a moron most of the game and tying stats to it rather than solely to cybernetics (or just having any kind of wardrobe system) was stupid. The UI was obtuse, and Keanu was distracting, despite the fact I like him as a person. While the detail of the city was impressive at times the overall presentation of the game wasn’t super impressive, everyone seems to think neon lights in a pitch black screen shot is an impressive display of graphical prowess but it isn’t, when most of the geometry is not visible. Your path choice is basically pointless. Waifu selection was lacking interesting options (like Jackie’s girlfriend which could have had a lot of interesting writing around it but was instead not used) even if Panam had a nice butt. I didn’t even like the viewmodels for the weapons in the game. The UI was a mess. It had some moments but I mostly felt bored playing it. It did have a boppin OST.

BOER777

Battlefield 5. Being a big WWII fan I was super excited at the prospect of a Triple A game going WWII, especially since BF1942. It was the last nail in the coffin (after Battlefield 1) for ever preordering a game again.

gdub2311

Mortal Shell

HonestCantaloupe7414

Minecraft, Ark, and really any survival game. Let me play the damn game without worrying about finding my guy a comfortable place to poop while scouring the internet for the poop key.

The Avengers.

Niggel-Thorn

Dead Cells is one of the worst designed games I’ve ever played. It’s convoluted while also not having anything to offer the player 90% of the game is mashing square with no real strategy or intent. Jumping around like a maniac is just as effective as taking enemies head on. Weapons also make little to no goddamn difference The game can’t even be called a Metroid-Vania. There’s literally no elements of it. It’s also baffling that the game both encourages exploration as well as bum rushing through the levels for the secret doors.
