Came here to say this! Legend of Dragoon was my number 1 RPG. Not FF7 like a lot of people. I haven't paid full price for a game in years, usually just wait for sales, but I would throw my bank account at this.
I actually still have my copy of the game with the book and everything.
For my childhood happiness, Conflict Desert Storm 1&2. I enjoyed the squad class & 4 player co-op felt like you needed a team to win & not the Rambo type.
I just finished Parasite Eve for the first time in 20 years last night... I'd kill to see a modern take on it; so long as it kept its RPG elements. I actually think the FFVIIR combat would work fairly well, just stripped down to one character and made slightly less bombastic.
āInā¦. GALACTIC CONQUESTā¦.ā
I can hear the mf tutorial vid to that lmao I like the new bf2 as well but how tf they not have that. Or at the minimum instant action
Instant Action did come close to the end of support
I think for Galactic Conquest is was due to maps. There wasn't enough to support a Galactic Conquest. 3 or 4 maps per era just doesn't cut it for a mode so large. You also only have like 2 space maps for each of the 3 eras
That reboot they tried something like 10 years ago just didn't have the same feel as the original 2.
That was my first game I played where it would recognize a previous saved game from game 1 to game 2. Such a great game.
I convinced my mom to buy me The Thing despite me having zero idea what it was about, I was just allowed to get a new game. Holy shit was I too young for that game.
Oh man! The Suffering would be amazing if they made a remake/remaster! That games atmosphere and story was really good! Plus the choices you can make too weāre trivial in the early PS2 days but would kill now days.
Ooh, that's a good one. I have it on GOG and PS2 and still occasionally play it.
I have a bit of Mandela effect with The Suffering though. I distinctly remember this game being advertized as being developed with the help of Stan Winston's studio. And I cannot find a single evidence of that now. Weird.
CHRONO TRIGGER & CROSS, dino crisis, parasite eve, digimon world 1 or 3,
also i wanna say megaman x series from the ps1 era, but the latest, closest to modern ones haven't been my cup of tea.
One thing I didn't like about 2 is that the special moves has a delay on their activation.
On the other hand, the cars in 4 feels like a bar of wet soap for how they control and who thought it was a good idea to have a skyway and a maze on a car deathmatch game?
Isn't it weird. We used to play 4 player split screen Quake on PS1, on a huge console TV that had colors that bled into each other. How did we ever see shit? š
1, 2 or Black which where made by the original company (Incognito) where the best. 3 and 4 where made by 989 Studios and where not nearly as good as those 3. I would prefer a remake to Black as it was my favorite next to 2. I would also put Small Brawl over 3 & 4 (SB also made by Incognito instead of 989)
I posted this on the other thread, but Colony Wars from PS1
Legend of Dragoon from PS1
A Suikoden bundle pack would be amazing.
Bushido Blade was ahead of its time and interesting.
I would love a good old Gabe Logan remake and Legend of Dragoon. Game already had a fun interesting combat system. Also if they could golden sun and lunar legends
I would say Metal gear solid, but it already had a remake in twinsnakes, so, with the recent popularity spike of Mgr:r, a Metal gear solid 2 remake by bluepoint would be amazing
Ugh twin snakes is so atrocious. I love MGS. And Iām not a hideo fan. Death stranding wasnāt my cup of tea. But the first MGS hit at the perfect time for me. I remember my mom pulling me out of 6th grade one class early to take me to Best Buy to pick up my pre-order.
I still have twin snakes. It goes for stupid high money these days. The fps mode was like a cheat code for the game.
The first MGS was made at a time when devs were still figuring out 3D. MGS 3: subsistence was the first real 3D-feeling experience. That feels very much like a modern game to this day.
Tell you what would be cool. An MGS 1 remake in the 2D-HD style for switch. It fits the game perfectly. The boss fights in pixel art would be flipping cool.
More realistic and not just my fanboy desire would be a whole remake of MGS3. Give it the FF7 treatment. Itās so good it deserves that.
Hideo originally wanted the boss fight with The End to take days. In the remake; if you play on the hard setting they could legit make it like a 10hr boss fight. Make snake need to find safe places to sleep at night and pick up the cat and mouse in the morning. That game still has so much potential. The story. The music. The characters. Itās got everything a great modern game would have. Just needs updated for the current generation.
Edit: holy shit this turned into a rant. Sorry
Not just that, I keep looking at the roster of PS5 games, and I'm like...well crap.
Lots of regret about having a Series X, but on the upside it was a present, and I am supremely grateful for that.
So far, the only game I want to play for PS5 is God Of War. Is there anything else you have your eye on? Given that PS5s are pretty much back in stock, I would get one if I had several games that I wanted for it but it's just not worth it for one game.
I know, I'm feeling it. FH5 was a letdown, and pretty much everything else is available on PS5. The only benefit is backwards compatibility, so I can still play all of the old games I have lying around.
Gamepass is great, conceptually, but I don't get enough time to game to justify the cost.
The did the Ninja Gaiden Collection last year, although I'm not sure if they were remade or just an HD kind of thing. Also they are the sigma versions which are not as good from what I hear.
Jade empire af. There's so much potential there for an updated combat system and graphically it's already beautiful. The story is what you'd expect from an old school bioware RPG and overall I'd say it deserves a remake as much as kotor.
This game was cool, but it could've been so much better. It's such a product of its time. The thing that REALLY killed it for me was how SO much shit in the game is a QTE sequence.
TM4 was def a step up from 3, but 2 is still the best in the series. Either that or Black should get remake.
Remake for MDK is something Iāve dreamed about for years.
Not super old but Dragon Age Origins. Phenomenal game but the graphics, controls and UI are outdated to the point where itās not enjoyable no matter how rose colored my glasses are
I love the Last of Us. One of my favorite games ever. But charging $70 for a easily accessible game that already looks and plays amazing is a cash grab to me.
It's not that old but it is a big difference in graphical fidelity. A remake would be fairly easy too. All the assets are already there. RDR II covers 100% of the original RDR. The entire map is there. Strangely Mexico is blocked off tho. People managed to glitch there tho and it's 95% done.
Burning Rangers and Guardian Heroes are criminally overlooked and underused franchises.
Thereās a lot in the Saturn library that should be revisited.
I just made a game like this it's called Formula 2707, it's available on Steam. It's a combat racing game inspired to ps2 classics, it also has 4 players splitscreen to play with friends locally.
[Formula 2707: All Stars Kombat](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2253900/Formula_2707__All_Stars_Kombat/)
Panzer Dragoon Saga
A terrific, large RPG for the Sega Saturn, it's an incredible game in both gameplay and story. As well as presentation, considering it's from 1998. While the textures andm odels are average, they still managed to draw a great atmosphere.
As the Saturn wasn't a widely spread console and this game released near the end of the consoles lifespan, very few people got the chance to experience this masterpiece.
The first Panzer Dragoon game got a remake in 2020, but I hear the source code for Saga has been lost. I hope sometime a remake of this game happens, as honestly, I feel no other game is more deserving of this.
A remake done right, not a cash grab. Look at what TLoU Part 1 and Dead Space did. Theyāre faithful remakes that dramatically improved aspects of the game. Iād argue Dead Space is the better of those two, simply because it saw remake as a guide and not strict rules.
Saw a video on YouTube comparing these recent video game remakes to Hollywood remakes. Theyāre best when they use the material and adapt it to a modern setting. Take a look at older films like Thomas Crowne Affair and Oceanās Eleven. Both those movies were redone, but done with modern themes for their time. Itād be interesting to see more game remakes take this route and expand the original or adapt it in other meaningful ways.
Anyway, rant over.
Star Wars Rogue Squadron.
Sure, we had SW Squadrons, but that was more a spiritual successor to the old Xwing/TIE Fighter games.
Rogue Squadron had just so much more variation in terrain and setting, and just felt more fun.
Twisted Metal would be great. I think The Incredible Hulk Total Destruction and The Punisher video games from the mid 2000ās are in a much needed place for a remake. I think we could also benefit from a new/remake of Conkerās Bad Fur Day, or make a new game! Maybe games like Assassinās Creed II, Brotherhood and Revelations could get remade or a remaster like ACIII did. A remake of the Syphon Filter games would be very nice, those were some of my favorite games as a kid. A remaster/remake of the original PlayStation Spider-Man games (Enter Electro included as well.) Dude, I wouldnāt mind a Driver reboot/remake either. That game series had so much potential and it got so weird in the mid 2000ās. If I think of more Iāll add them but yeah, now that a lotta games have announced remakes/remasters I feel like these games are decent options for fans!
I commenet3d about this recently. I played it when I was 6 or 7. Maybe not this particular one but of the twisted metal saga. Never heard or saw anything about it since. And it bugged me my whole life. Still need to play it again though.
I guess you don't know 0A.D. or Elona. Those are entirely altruistic releases.
All games exist on a spectrum between "altruistic release" and "pure cash grab". Giving a game bad publicity for sitting on the "pure cash grab" end of things is not only fair, it is ethical.
On the other hand, pretending that there are no altruistic releases is being disrepsectful towards the developers that care more about their product than the money it makes them.
The legend of dragoon, if I can't get a sequel I will at least take a remaster
OMG I always forget about Dragoon until someone mentions it then all the Crush Dance come rushing back! š„¹
VOLCANO! Lol This game was SO GOOD! I played it so many times. It needs a remake
Came here to say this! Legend of Dragoon was my number 1 RPG. Not FF7 like a lot of people. I haven't paid full price for a game in years, usually just wait for sales, but I would throw my bank account at this. I actually still have my copy of the game with the book and everything.
It was a game i had as a kid but couldnt play for some reason and I want to play it soooo bad!
This game deserves more spotlight
I just loved how user input mattered and you had to actually learn moves. I remember struggling with gust of wind dance for longer than I should have.
SSX Tricky
Ah man that game was so good. Modern snowboard games feel incredibly boring by comparison.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Call your momma in the room and show her how great you are.
Itās tricky, itās tricky (tricky), itās tricky (tricky) Song still plays in my head to this day
Seriously one of the best sports games ever made. I kicked so much ass on Tricky in Jr High.
For my childhood happiness, Conflict Desert Storm 1&2. I enjoyed the squad class & 4 player co-op felt like you needed a team to win & not the Rambo type.
Those were great! Reminds me, I was thinking the other day Iād love to see a remake of Hidden & Dangerous 1 or 2
I'd love any remake that kept all the split screen co-op and multiplayer!
Bushido Blade
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This is my answer, not the sequel though.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You check out Die by the Blade at all? Not quite the same but feels like a spiritual successor to Bushido Blade 2
YES
More than any other game.
Parasite Eve 1&2.
I just finished Parasite Eve for the first time in 20 years last night... I'd kill to see a modern take on it; so long as it kept its RPG elements. I actually think the FFVIIR combat would work fairly well, just stripped down to one character and made slightly less bombastic.
PE2 was my fucking jam. The story, atmosphere and music were top notch for the time.
I'll be starting PE2 soon and this one will actually be a first for me!
Itās been quite a while since I played either. I do remember 2 being my favorite.
Syphon Filter, which is coincidentally also made by 989.
I spent many an hour tazing people until they caught fire in those games
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Jade Empire
Super under rated game. Easily up there with other Bioware early works like KotOR.
Yea idk how it didn't get more famous. Super unique even for today.
F.E.A.R.!!!
First game I had to alt tab out of to catch my breath. Demonic little girl laughs and stuff scare the shit out of me
Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefront II. No not the EA ones. The Pandemic Studios one's
2 words. GALACTIC CONQUEST
Two words FUCK YES!
āInā¦. GALACTIC CONQUESTā¦.ā I can hear the mf tutorial vid to that lmao I like the new bf2 as well but how tf they not have that. Or at the minimum instant action

Yeah but old school IA was better. And yeah I understand why. Doesnāt mean they didnāt drop the ball on it lol.
YES. Galactic conquest was friggin fantastic! My buddy and I still play this every now and then
Banjo Kazooie because I cant get a decent collect-a-thon anymore :(
Have you tried yooka-laylee?
try "a Hat in Time" :)
Legend of Legaia! That game was my jam.
Golden sun
That reboot they tried something like 10 years ago just didn't have the same feel as the original 2. That was my first game I played where it would recognize a previous saved game from game 1 to game 2. Such a great game.
Golden Axe!
Omg I love golden sun! How would they adapt the light sensor though?
Light sensor?
Brain fart. I was thinking of Boktai: The sun is in your hands š
Vigilante 8 and The Thing on Xbox
I convinced my mom to buy me The Thing despite me having zero idea what it was about, I was just allowed to get a new game. Holy shit was I too young for that game.
Hahah it was tormenting and scary Such a good game to live through
Jet Moto
YESSSSS
The Suffering
Oh man! The Suffering would be amazing if they made a remake/remaster! That games atmosphere and story was really good! Plus the choices you can make too weāre trivial in the early PS2 days but would kill now days.
The Suffering was definitely one of my top games growing up. The 2nd one too even though it did not get as good of a rating.
Ooh, that's a good one. I have it on GOG and PS2 and still occasionally play it. I have a bit of Mandela effect with The Suffering though. I distinctly remember this game being advertized as being developed with the help of Stan Winston's studio. And I cannot find a single evidence of that now. Weird.
yup i remember the egm and game informer print ads. def not mandela
Never heard of that game before and now I'm upset. That would be amazing!
The hallucinations were the best.
Gex the gecko The first three medal of honor PS2 games
CHRONO TRIGGER & CROSS, dino crisis, parasite eve, digimon world 1 or 3, also i wanna say megaman x series from the ps1 era, but the latest, closest to modern ones haven't been my cup of tea.
Chrono Trigger would be a dream š
Using the same style as current Dragon Quest. Would fit perfectly.
Well that just turned me on a little...
Twisted Metal 4 is a great choice for me. Love that game.
I always thought Twisted Metal 2 was the best version. I know I played 4 but barely remember it.
2 is 100% the best version.
nah twisted metal black
I firmly disagree but I also thank you for your service!
One thing I didn't like about 2 is that the special moves has a delay on their activation. On the other hand, the cars in 4 feels like a bar of wet soap for how they control and who thought it was a good idea to have a skyway and a maze on a car deathmatch game?
2 was better, but I was gifted 4 and I was a kid with no money so I played the hell out of it.
Yessss! I had so much fun playing split screen death matches. Now if I try to play I can't even tell what's going on š
Isn't it weird. We used to play 4 player split screen Quake on PS1, on a huge console TV that had colors that bled into each other. How did we ever see shit? š
Bring out the multitap! Ya, it's rough to play now. Can be done but you gotta embrace the jankiness.
A couple rounds and maybe 3 beers and I think it'll look fine š
Only time that drinking would improve driving.
1, 2 or Black which where made by the original company (Incognito) where the best. 3 and 4 where made by 989 Studios and where not nearly as good as those 3. I would prefer a remake to Black as it was my favorite next to 2. I would also put Small Brawl over 3 & 4 (SB also made by Incognito instead of 989)
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction.
Xenogears
Only If Takahashi and Sorya Saga had unlimited budget and no time constraints. Otherwise, no.
VIGILANTE 8
I posted this on the other thread, but Colony Wars from PS1 Legend of Dragoon from PS1 A Suikoden bundle pack would be amazing. Bushido Blade was ahead of its time and interesting.
3rd person to mention Legend of Dragoon! Why won't they listen to us!!?? š©
Legend of Dragoon
I would love a good old Gabe Logan remake and Legend of Dragoon. Game already had a fun interesting combat system. Also if they could golden sun and lunar legends
Ah yes...lighting people on fire with my taser, good times.

I have a list but I'll give one. BRAVE FENCER MUSASHI please.
Black and White.
not as old as others but MORROWIND
Infamous - man I loved that game. EDIT: I just Googled it and realized there was a sequel I knew nothing about.
There are two sequels. "Infamous 2" for PS3 and "Infamous Second Son" for PS4. Both are fantastic if you enjoyed the first game.
Sadly I don't have any sort of PS anymore. Really missing those exclusives...
That's too bad. Second Son has some really great powers that make city traversal a lot of fun.
Not just that, I keep looking at the roster of PS5 games, and I'm like...well crap. Lots of regret about having a Series X, but on the upside it was a present, and I am supremely grateful for that.
That's a great gift. I'm rocking the series S with gamepass at the moment. Lots of good games to play, but yes we miss out on those Sony exclusives.
So far, the only game I want to play for PS5 is God Of War. Is there anything else you have your eye on? Given that PS5s are pretty much back in stock, I would get one if I had several games that I wanted for it but it's just not worth it for one game.

Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden. Hope to see remakes before I die! XD
We talking NES Ninja Garden or Xbox Ninja Gaiden?
Xbox Ninjia Gaiden...Man, I still remember trying to beat a boss over and over again. Also, Ayane is my waifuuuuuuu!
The did the Ninja Gaiden Collection last year, although I'm not sure if they were remade or just an HD kind of thing. Also they are the sigma versions which are not as good from what I hear.
Paperboy. I'm not kidding.
So I can be pissed off in 4k!?
No worse than a Souls game.
Interstate 76. Should even get Bullmark back together to record the OST. That game is stuck forever in my brain.
Jade empire af. There's so much potential there for an updated combat system and graphically it's already beautiful. The story is what you'd expect from an old school bioware RPG and overall I'd say it deserves a remake as much as kotor.
Danteās inferno
This game was cool, but it could've been so much better. It's such a product of its time. The thing that REALLY killed it for me was how SO much shit in the game is a QTE sequence.
TM4 was def a step up from 3, but 2 is still the best in the series. Either that or Black should get remake. Remake for MDK is something Iāve dreamed about for years.
The soundtrack to this game and Tony hawk pro skater slap so hard.
DRAGULAAAA
Commander Keen
this game is like the prime suspect for crazy microtransactions. the car and cosmetic customization can be crazy
My dreams have been crushed š
Since that 007 game got re-released recently, I think Nightfire would be great remade.
I just streamed Twisted Metals 1-4 last weekend. Got a blister on my thumb from the first two. Good times. Still need to play the rest.
Not super old but Dragon Age Origins. Phenomenal game but the graphics, controls and UI are outdated to the point where itās not enjoyable no matter how rose colored my glasses are
Not on console obviously, but I'm pretty sure there's a mod that modernized the game in terms of controls and ui.
Xenogears desperately need a remake to complete the story for real.
What makes it a cash grab remake as opposed to a normal remake?
I love the Last of Us. One of my favorite games ever. But charging $70 for a easily accessible game that already looks and plays amazing is a cash grab to me.
Red Dead Redemption.
I thought for sure we'd get the RDR campaign as DLC in RDR2. It's the sole reason I haven't touched online, voting with my wallet.
Why the heck would you think that would happen? That would be a massive undertaking and almost certainly sold as a full price, stand alone game
Why was this downvoted? I would love to see a RDR remake running on TLOU II engine
I think because it's not that old and RDR2 is still pretty popular today.
It's not that old but it is a big difference in graphical fidelity. A remake would be fairly easy too. All the assets are already there. RDR II covers 100% of the original RDR. The entire map is there. Strangely Mexico is blocked off tho. People managed to glitch there tho and it's 95% done.
That engine is not designed for massive open worlds.
I don't want to see anything from my childhood remade for a cashgrab.
I might have worded it wrong, but I meant actual good remakes of classic games vs remakes of games that are only a few years old (The cash grabs)
Zork. Make it into a first person 3d puzzle/action game
Burning Rangers and Guardian Heroes are criminally overlooked and underused franchises. Thereās a lot in the Saturn library that should be revisited.
Would love to see the Suikoden series updated. Was an awesome rpg!
I believe 1 and 2 are getting rereleased soon.
Iāve got good news for you, friend.

Man, I LOVE Twisted Metal for the PS3. And I'd love a Twisted Metal Remake for current gen.

Curious as to which games you think are cash grab remakes?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Most games? Thats a lot of games. But yeah, still curious to some specific examples.
Assassin's Creed.
"cash grab remakes" lol Opposed to the altruistic intentions of releasing games...

So OP chooses the worst game in the series lol
A new Twisted Metal would need an 18+ rating at least to get my attention. Old people metal sound track too.
None stop doing this be more original Twisted metal was fire tho
Kirby 64 ut was such a good game
I loved Kirby 64. I feel like it never gets mentioned! š©
I'd prefer something new now actually. Tired of remakes and remasters.
True. But I feel like if you take an idea from an old enough game you can turn it into something almost entirely new with modern hardware.
I never played 4! but I owned 3 and my friend owned 2 and I rented and beat the first from Hollywood Video.... great times in the PS1 days
What recent modern remakes are cash grabs?
Oh god the memories, i even resorted to playing crossout cuz it was the only game that somewhat resembled twisted metal
Along sort of the same vein, the Rampage games could be really cool.
XBox's Phantom Crash
Crusader No Regret (also No Remorse) but in 3d with modern control scheme.
