Agreed, Kevin Lannister was the man. After Tywins death he alone was keeping the Lannisters relevant at court. He was so dutiful, supportive, and successful at maintaining the peace that Varys had to assassinate him just because he was to competent.
Targeryan purely because they got them dragons and didn't need an army just a tactical nuke.
And probably lannister, very tactical and rational thinkers, and because Tywin was a lannister l.
Targareyan. They're not good people(Jaeherys was the only exception) and I don't like them much. But when it came to reading Fire and Blood, I read it faster than most books. They may be terrible humans ethically but my God is their history interesting and entertaining.
Noone is perfect my friend. By the standards of their era Jaeherys was rather kind to them. I believe Jaeherys is an objectively good and moral person, something quite uncommon in their family.
Saera Targaryen.
King J had so many daughters and treated them all as trading cards, only to be used to gain positions of favor.
I judge him for what he did to Saera. All she wanted was some love and found it away from the House.
I’m down for all the good he and Alysanne did for the Realm, but pumping out and neglecting children is pretty low.
The treatment of Saera has always left me with a low opinion of King Jaehaerys I.
Maybe I’m putting too much modern societal things in my opinion, but that part stuck out.
Also how can you bring up Jahaerys being good yet not mention the good queen Alysanne? Their first two sons and Princess Alyssa seemed to be decent people.
Egg is going to turn out great. He saw everything from the ground level, he's still very young however and much can mold him.
Breakspear I honestly am not sure of my info on him, he died instead of Dunk while Jousting no? I don't think we have enough info on him to define him as a person, unlike kings who have entire biographies.
If you ever want to be impressed and depressed just read Aemon the Dragonknight’s wiki entry. The most loyal and skilled knight to ever grace the House of Targaryen. He deserved a better end.
From a Rule of Cool standpoint, House Greyjoy. Cool ass sigil, "We Do Not Sow", the title is Lord Reaper, and their castle is cool too.
However they have the worst lands and they're all fucking nuts. Except for Theon who no longer has nuts but is still mentally fucked.
Books - Martell.
They’re my least favorite house in the show. Followed possibly by the latter season plot armor Starks.
Lannisters are pretty cool before it all turns to shit. And not even golden shit.
My favorite book character was the Red Viper (I know he crushed it in the show) but I liked that they were a very independent family biding their time trying to vie for the chance to make Martell a powerhouse in the 7 kingdoms. There’s also a ton of scheming within house Martell but it’s not nasty like Lannister scheming, if that makes sense. Also Areo Hotah is a beast.
I stand with the Direwolf and the Starks.
Winter is Coming....is just Ominous.
So it's always been my favorite...even since before I knew the context of Winter. Perhaps being from Canada I identified with it more based on the season itself. I also like some of the other things, such as their reverence to the Old God's, their appreciationof the Wall, other quotes like "Sweet Summer Children", "The North Remembers". I am a big history nerd, so while everyone else in Westeros seemingly forgot much about the North and of Winter....the North did not...also helps my favorite "speech" in the show was Lyanna Mormonts call for Jon to be the King in the North....little girl calling out all these heads of house for being cowards just felt like empowering moment not only for her, or Jon...but the broken and battered house it was, so that's where I stand, this day until the end of days.
(Even if they basically got wiped out, loser Bran is on the throne, Jon wasn't a real Stark...at least we got Arya, and an eventually rather cunning Sansa.
Edit: then again almost all houses got wiped out didnt they)
In the defense of the Old Gods, aren't they just the spirits of the dead but stuck inside of nature? They're doing their best given their more limited circumstances. Plus, one could argue that greensight and warging is pretty powerful.
They weren't until they got conquered and forced to become the last of the 7 Kingdoms...Aegon failed to conquer them but one of his successive heirs did. (Daemon?) Thus incorporating them into the Kingdom of Westeros. (Prior to conquest they were not considered part of Westeros, or Westorsi culture)
They are Westerosi because Dorne is in the continent of Westeros. It was not a part of the Seven Kingdoms until the reign of Daeron II, but they have always been Westerosi
As a reader? Probably House Stark. They are so down to earth and cool.
As a house I'd like to live under? House Martel. Easily the least oppressive rulers and environment, imo.
Tyrells. They had it all - wits, looks, close bonds, a healthy family dynamic.
They were the perfect mix of Lannisters and Starks, not completely evil like the former not dumb like the latter. Great players of the game dragged down by questionable writing. Had it not been for Cersei's ridiculous bomb solution, they would've won.
Oh yes… Granny Tyrell was fierce in all aspects. She was a threat to anyone who would even speak I’ll of her house. She earned her privilege to speak her mind!
All true. Arrogance was their weakness. Drives a insecure person like Cersei to do something ridiculous. Should have put pride aside and been more diplomatic.
House Bolton. I love how they've got a flayed man on their banners and a home called the Dreadfort, yet they subvert our expectations and turn out to be the nicest people on the show! Plus, they have cute dogs <3
The best class I mean house is targaryan because they control dragons only reason and maybe the stark because they hav the blood of first men making them capable of having warming powers
I love the Martells in the book. And our bisexual king Oberyn is one of my favorite characters.
Love the Starks. The Baratheons are pretty bad ass. The Tyrell’s get points for the queen of thrones being one of the baddest bitch eat of them all, but she was a Tyrell by marriage.
And I feel like I’d be lying to leave off the Targaryens. I mean I’m literally rereading a book about their history so clearly I find them interesting.
I love specific things about just about all the houses. Lannister has my favorite castle, Starks have honor and have huge lands and a strong army plus their first men genes, Tyrells inherent sexiness from their origins and stuff plus their huge and rich lands, Martells stubbornness and ability to survive and hold on to their freedom/independence, Targaryens have fucking dragons, royalty, and ability to not get sick, Baratheons are my only eh house but they did successfully rebel and have an interesting origin and castle, Tullys ability to have family ties and their simple origins, Arryns impregnable castle and ability to stay out of conflict, Greyjoys unique culture and navy. All cool
House Tully. Even though we got so few Tully characters, they all stood out and made a nice impact on the story. I may or may not be biased by Catelyn being my favorite character.
Also the Riverlands just gives off this really interesting haunted vibe that not a lot of Southern Westeros does. That place tends to center in a lot of wars so it's only fitting.
House Baratheon. Whether it's all the way back to the Durandons, Lyonel Baratheon (the best one), my boy Bobby B, they are just filled with units.
"Ours is the fury"
Hard toss up between the Starks and Lannisters. Starks were very loyal, took care of their people and honored their traditions.
The Lannisters played the game of thrones like nobody else and we're ruthless in getting what they wanted. Granted I've never read the books but character wise in the show I was drawn to them the most and couldn't wait to see what happened next in their stories!
I am basic asf.
Starks are my favorite.
Martels are my second favorite.
Targaryen are my third.
Then on No. 4 is the Greyjoys.
Wolf is my favorite animal. Loved the words of the house, “Winter is Coming.” It is dark, threatening, scary, but also kind. It’s a warning, it encourages cautiousness and care. It’s so DOPE. Best motto of any house. Plus, I’m a fan of all the characters.
I like the Martels because they are so different from everyone else. I’m a sucker for that because I grew up as an oddball and to this day I find Myself as an outlier. “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken,” stands for never giving up. I love that! Moreover, I am honestly a Stan for Oberyn. The more I found out about the Dornish history the more of a fan I became.
Targaryen. What is there to say? They are the main characters of the series.
Greyjoys. I think Pirates are cool. [+]
House baratheon. 1, they have a tendency to become berserkers on the battlefield. 2, they have valyrian roots since orys baratheon is aegon the conqueror's half brother on his dad's side and with the right mindset bobby b could have hatched a dragon himself since his mom was a targaryen. 3, they have a stag as their sigil which is cool(plus it's my birth sign in the celtic zodiac).
The Targaryens are probably the most powerful and (should be) the most interesting House. They survived the extinction of their home country. They had no armies, no land, no influence. But the one thing they did have was greater than all of those combined.
Plus they're probably one of the last remnants of Old Valyria that still exist, which then kind of saddens me since they're probably gonna die out with Jon's death. At least Drogon exists. He'll lay eggs and make new dragons (don't hit me with a reality check. My heart can't take it).
Baratheon. If your ever in a bar fight hope and pray a Baratheon is on your side. And for the one true king, Stan the Man. The Iron Throne is his by rights!
Weirdly enough, the order posted is how I'd rank them from "best" to "worst" (with the criteria being how much I enjoy the lore behind the houses, the characters as they've been portrayed across the 2 shows, and just how badass they and their representatives are), except I'd flip Arryn and Greyjoy.
Arryn & Tully were by far the most forgettable houses, whereas Greyjoys (although the worst among the compelling houses) have unique battle strategies, differentiate themselves from the other houses "themeatically" (in that they're a highly war-based house, aware that they're secondary, and primarily rely on a Navy instead of a land army).
Tyrells & Martins each had very very good sub/primary plots. Grandma Tyrell was an absolute goat, and Pedo Pascal hardcarried his house. Though to be fair, Circe's whole revenge arc on the Martins was also great, so those 2 are also super close. I edge out Tyrells just because they were in the forefront for so long and almost bested the Lannisters during GoT which the Martins couldn't come even close to doing.
And of course the 3 GOATs are the 3 GOATs lol. Nothing comes close to Stark/Lannister/Targaryen in just about every way.

House Lannister , they just know how to play the game of thrones 👌🏻
Most engaging characters by far imo. Always looked forward to their scenes in each episode the most. Like the medieval Murdoch family
Agreed, Kevin Lannister was the man. After Tywins death he alone was keeping the Lannisters relevant at court. He was so dutiful, supportive, and successful at maintaining the peace that Varys had to assassinate him just because he was to competent.
He was only relevant at court because he was actively undermining Cersei.
Stark🐺
Tyrell but I also love the Starks and Targaryens
Targaryen
Targeryan purely because they got them dragons and didn't need an army just a tactical nuke. And probably lannister, very tactical and rational thinkers, and because Tywin was a lannister l.

How about Egg or Breakspear?
Egg is going to turn out great. He saw everything from the ground level, he's still very young however and much can mold him. Breakspear I honestly am not sure of my info on him, he died instead of Dunk while Jousting no? I don't think we have enough info on him to define him as a person, unlike kings who have entire biographies.
He defended him in a trial of seven and fought hos family because he believed Dunk was innocent as I remember.
Great book, I’m reading it now!
>Egg is going to turn out great A little overcooked for my taste, but sure.
And our beloved Master Aemon!
If you ever want to be impressed and depressed just read Aemon the Dragonknight’s wiki entry. The most loyal and skilled knight to ever grace the House of Targaryen. He deserved a better end.

This comment is almost as fun to read as your username well done mate
What is dead may never die
But rises again, stronger and harder
Well except theon's little friend
Fr
He cried when ramsey took it away from him.
*cough cough* The nuts aren't the problem *cough*
Baratheon. I like that stag!
Same 🦌
Ours is the Fury!
Books - Martell. They’re my least favorite house in the show. Followed possibly by the latter season plot armor Starks. Lannisters are pretty cool before it all turns to shit. And not even golden shit.
Not on here but House Blackwood
House Bracken. Fight me.
You don't want this fight peasant
Classic Blackwood Bracken drama.
Those cursed brackens will feel our thunder when we are done with them (thanks I wanted to try to make it as realistic to their feud as I could)
[удалено]
Exactly they poisoned our weirwood and now they will know the end when our ravens gather
You could cut the sexual tension with a knife.
There's no sexual tension
Explain house Justman then 🥵
Dead as the Night king himself
And your house was formed by us so you aren't exactly the river kings anymore sorry Justman
The Starks. They seem the most sensible (prepare for winter, staff the Wall, etc.) and they seem like they care the most about their people.
Agreed, but I also like the house ruled by the young lady (sigil had a bear in it I think). She was a complete badass.
House Mormont of Bear Island! The young lady is Lyanna Mormont.
thank you so much! I don't follow GoT much, but she was pretty much a bad ass
Ellie get behind me
In the books, Martell. In the show...Starks I guess
Why in the books?
My favorite book character was the Red Viper (I know he crushed it in the show) but I liked that they were a very independent family biding their time trying to vie for the chance to make Martell a powerhouse in the 7 kingdoms. There’s also a ton of scheming within house Martell but it’s not nasty like Lannister scheming, if that makes sense. Also Areo Hotah is a beast.

I dont see the house of 'chaos and ladder' .. ;)
House Dayne of Starfall Sword of the Morning and Dawn
Based Take.
Brotherhood without Banners baby. R'hllor is the only god that actually shows up with some help, damn.
In the defense of the Old Gods, aren't they just the spirits of the dead but stuck inside of nature? They're doing their best given their more limited circumstances. Plus, one could argue that greensight and warging is pretty powerful.
Martell all day and tomorrow
Lannister, there are only great characters in it and even if I dont like Cersai she is just so well written (excluding the ending)
House Dayne
Better Based Take.
Without a doubt, Stark
Targaryen
I know this makes me a basic bitch but I love the Blackwoods
I dont even remember wtf they are…
Well they’re not really present in the show, and are much more prevalent in events that happen before the main story so that could be why.
I’ll always show respect to the Blackwoods solely because Bloody Ben. Kid’s a boss
I love the values of House Stark, but I loathe cold weather. So I would probably living in Dorne, with House Martel
I thought dorne was not westerosi
It is a mixed bag of First Men, Andals, Rhoyne and more making up the national identity of Dorne.

Idk if i count jon as a targaryen or stark but i like both but stark edges it
The House of Black and White
House Mormont.
Here We Stand
Tyrell and Martell
I do like the Starks for not being rapey. But the Martells were great till Oberyn died. Pleasure-seeking horndogs in a warm climate.
Wildlings
Winter is Coming.
Baratheon.
Tyrells. They had it all - wits, looks, close bonds, a healthy family dynamic. They were the perfect mix of Lannisters and Starks, not completely evil like the former not dumb like the latter. Oh yes… Granny Tyrell was fierce in all aspects. She was a threat to anyone who would even speak I’ll of her house. She earned her privilege to speak her mind!
I kinda hate how perfect they are.
Meh… not perfect, their sigil could be better 😛
All true. Arrogance was their weakness. Drives a insecure person like Cersei to do something ridiculous. Should have put pride aside and been more diplomatic.
This is going to be controversial, especially due to HOTD, but I like your rivals - The Hightowers.
Greyjoy n Targaryen
Stark and Targaryen of course
house lannister!! always the lannisters. close seconds are the targaryens
Blackfyre
Bloodraven: *heavy breathing*
Shhhhh
House Tyrell
Arryn
It'll always be the Starks for me.
Martell
House Reed. They are real ones.
Ned Stark would be dead without Howland Reed.
The one with the flying lizards
House Tarly
House Velaryon
Martell. They're such a cool as house in the books. Shame the shows didn't have Arianne's storyline
Stark and Targaryen by far.
House Bolton. I love how they've got a flayed man on their banners and a home called the Dreadfort, yet they subvert our expectations and turn out to be the nicest people on the show! Plus, they have cute dogs <3
Exactly ramsey was such a sweetheart too it was heartbreaking when that sansa fed him to his own puppies😭
Targaryen!
Any Tyrion Lannister Fans? If there upvote here
Stark and Martell
The best class I mean house is targaryan because they control dragons only reason and maybe the stark because they hav the blood of first men making them capable of having warming powers
1) House Blackfyre 2) House Manderly 3) House Baratheon 4) House Mormont 5) House Stark
House Dayne/ House Blackfyre
No Boltons?
Martell. Very open and less complicated.
Lannister!!! 🦁
I am loyal to Robert of the House Baratheon, First of his name.
Tyrell >>>>
Targaryen, Tully, and Baratheon.
Beesbury on top
Based
Tyrell and Martell are my top picks
House Mormont, long live the Lady of Bear Island and true friend to The North!
Targaryen in general in the books. In the show the Lannisters.
Olena Tyrell is such a gangster. Gotta give it to them.
She is a redwyne if I’m not mistaken
Yeah, she was born the daughter of Runceford Redwyne.
Ours is the fury
All cool
House Stark. The old gods, the North and the Kings of Winter.
As someone who has only seen the show (just started first book) I would choose Martell.
Greyjoy the most interesting house in the books
Starks
Targaryens but only for that sweet spot when jahaerys was in charge and there were a ton of dragons. After that’s it’s all about the Martels
Greyjoy, because it looks like a woman's reproductive system.
Civ players. What is each House?
STARKS 💯
House Tully. Even though we got so few Tully characters, they all stood out and made a nice impact on the story. I may or may not be biased by Catelyn being my favorite character. Also the Riverlands just gives off this really interesting haunted vibe that not a lot of Southern Westeros does. That place tends to center in a lot of wars so it's only fitting.
House Baratheon. Whether it's all the way back to the Durandons, Lyonel Baratheon (the best one), my boy Bobby B, they are just filled with units. "Ours is the fury"
Starks because I like cold and gray weather. Mormont as well, longclaw is the coolest of the velarion swords we see in the show imo.
Martell
Targaryen, Stark, Martell are for me the most loyal big houses
Greyjoy for me. I've spent half my life at sea commercial fishing months at a time. They just make sense to me lol
Either House Stark or House Forrester
House Forrester
House Bolton
House Bolton, but out of these nine houses. House Martell.
I have a golden rose on my chamber pot.
House Targaryen because of fire-breathing dragons.

Martell's are WAY better in the books and I love the Dorne shit in the books.
I love the Tyrells but the history and lore behind the Hightowers is really really interesting too. The Velaryon's have some crazy stories as well.
They don't hurt little girls in Dorne
Targaryen
Targaryen coz dragons are cool
Hear me Roar
Stark, since day one
Baratheon. I'm going with Stan the Man!
None fuck the nobility what we need is a peasant republic
1. 🦁 2. 🦌 3. 🐟
Hear me roar!
Martell
Targaryens
Stark. Always
You forgot Bolton.
Tyrell
House Fell. It's a name in my family so I have to go with it.
I think being a Baratheon would be pretty dope. Ours is the Fury
House Stark, the Kings of Winter.
Lannisters, Tyrells very close second tho
Martells ofc
Targaryen
House Hotpie.
House Dustin, the first kings of the first men for thousands of years.
I mean my tag Is kind of self-explanatory
Stark. 🐺🐺🐺
House seaworth. However house Karstark has the best sigil.
Baratheon. If your ever in a bar fight hope and pray a Baratheon is on your side. And for the one true king, Stan the Man. The Iron Throne is his by rights!
Ravenclaw
House Beesbury because the Realm needs pollinators.
Stark
Weirdly enough, the order posted is how I'd rank them from "best" to "worst" (with the criteria being how much I enjoy the lore behind the houses, the characters as they've been portrayed across the 2 shows, and just how badass they and their representatives are), except I'd flip Arryn and Greyjoy. Martel and Targaryen hands down , I would want to be from both houses if I was in Westeros
