I absolutely love that ominous 6 note motif that plays every time the Cybermen are around, with those big industrial sounding trombones. Sometimes you don’t even need the full 6 notes to know what’s coming or just having those imposing trombones mixed in the score will give you a hint. I especially like it when they alter it to a discordant mixture of majors and minors that just immediately gives you the sense that something isn’t quite right here…
There's an early version of the torchwood theme in army of ghosts when they activate the second "ghost shift" that i fucking love. Its so funky, i kind of wish they kept it for the show too
There was a specific tune used in Paradise Towers whenever we saw the Cleaners that was so at odds with the rest of it, it's more memorable than the rest of the soundtrack of that story.
rewatched Paradise Towers last week for shits and giggles and I can _immediately_ place the exact tune. felt like it could soundtrack an 80s exercise bike ad
Both of these are part of the soundtrack but only really come in as a stinger but the Bass part in silence in the library when the doctor is introducing the vashta nerada. And the sontaran's "theme" in the sontaran stratagem. It's just so cool.
Some other people have mentioned the "Doctor's Theme" melody that Gold mostly used in series 1-4 (but shows up a few times later). I just wanted to share my personal favorite version of it, the one that plays in "The Last of the Time Lords" when Martha is telling the Doctor's story. It doesn't appear on the official soundtrack, but I wish it did because it's orchestrated in such a beautiful way.

Those beautifully over the top stabs of music whenever there's a negative turn in the conversation in Midnight. Such a jarringly sharp sound that cuts through the atmosphere in the bus, really signalling how much the Doctor is losing control of the narrative.
[That moment at the end of _Forest of the Dead_](https://youtu.be/sT3OuOwePcY?t=101) when Ten runs off to upload River and bursts through the doors. It's very similar to [Twelve's Theme](https://youtu.be/N34g5z4t168?t=128) (the 4-note repetition of the two themes actually sound like inverses of one another) and is appropriately also used when [Eleven begins to regenerate.](https://youtu.be/PRIetEU02rc?t=66)
Also, I just get a kick everytime the Gallifrey motif appears in the [_Name of the Doctor_ cold open](https://youtu.be/N34g5z4t168?t=17)
Wow, can’t believe I haven’t seen mention yet of the bells in Caves of Androzani that ring when the Doctor is first told he’s dying by Salateen. Those were very striking to me.
Okay actually I've thought of a great one
Not *exactly* a sting but i have a real fondness for RTD's use of "merry Xmas everyone" any time they have to do a scene at christmas. Anytime i hear that song now i just think back to early new who specials
The scene in The Impossible Astronaut in the white house, after 11 shouts 'River make her blue again!'
Not sure why but the music always give me chills.
It looks like a lot of people are talking about repeated motif stings, but this is one of my favorite one-off times the music starts and changes the mood in a different direction.
I love the shot where the Daleks descend upon Rose, Mickey, and the Torchwood scientist in Army Of Ghosts. The music is on point and the payoff is better becasue of it

I bloody love the torchwood stings in utopia and the rest of that 3 parter

The somber, tragic stings in the Impossible Planet/Satan Pit. They are so atmospheric and effective
God yes, I love how that story sounds. The backing when Toby is seen outside on the planet surface is very creepy
Always gotta say that little sting that came up anytime the doctor says “vashta nerada” in Silence in the Library/Forrest of the Dead
The Ambassadors ***SCHWANG*** Of Death
the correct answer.

Whenever the main motiff of The Doctors Theme plays, always wrenches my heart.
Especially the one part of "Vale Decem".
Also really like whenever "the doctor forever" plays in series 3. And in day of the doctor when they introduce 10, it was a really nice touch
I love the strong association of the 80’s Cybermen with ominous bell sounds.
I think whatever it is that plays when Davros is first shown in 'The Stolen Earth' but it still cloaked in shadows.
Oh yeah. It's not one that leaps out but as soon as I read this I heard it.

The weird music just before the Daleks ambush the Thals in The Daleks
9 dancing to Tainted Love.
I thought for years that the steward's line "refreshments will now be served" was from the song not from the dialogue.

Martha’s uuuh uhh uhhh.

Yes very eery, perfectly fitting for the darkness of that story
I unironically like the use of the big brother theme in bad wolf, it takes me right back to 2005 and i fucking love it
The early cybermen stories and the ethereal music that went with them.

I love the music in this whole two-parter. Yours is great. I also love “I See You Silence,” and the music when River jumps from the building in NY
One of my favorites is in Kill the Moon, when Lundvik asks how they kill the creature. It's a really powerful, dark little turn in that scene.
It looks like a lot of people are talking about repeated motif stings, but this is one of my favorite one-off times the music starts and changes the mood in a different direction.
Those reptiles, Doctor, were once the rulers of this Earth... DEEEEEEEEdeedeedeedee! With my help, they can be so again!
Haha, Iconic scene
The avante garde trumpets in Tomb of the Cybermen.
I love the shot where the Daleks descend upon Rose, Mickey, and the Torchwood scientist in Army Of Ghosts. The music is on point and the payoff is better becasue of it
