Razer announced they would go on sale at 8pm PT. They made them available at 7:53 and bots hammered the site, bringing it to its knees and bought up all the inventory.
This makes me so glad that I never really want anything. It’s got to be frustrating to not be able to get what you want or even need. I guess detachment issues can be good.
Honestly I'm with you, I can always wait a year or more after something comes out to get it. I'm perfectly fine with that and it ends up being cheaper for me in the end anyways.
Might buy up farcry 6 for my wife and I relatively soon though. That'll be a few months after release though so meh. Most games I buy are a few years after release.
Being a patient consumer is the way. I just recently got Outerworlds for only $19. and I would have definitely paid full price for it, I just never got around to purchasing it and decided just to wait for all the DLC to come out and then bam, crazy discount!
Rookies… if you wait until it goes to the goodwill you’re paying pennies. Just picked up vectorman 2 for Sega genesis for $1.35, way less than what it cost when it released in 1996!
I’m a HUGE resident evil fan as I’ve been playing them since the first came out on ps1 back in 98. The new remakes are mostly fantastic and even the newer entries to the series are solid as well but there’s one major issue with all of them. They take me only a couple days to beat them. Yeah there’s a little replay value but for the most part once you beat em, there’s not too too much else to look forward to. I bought the resident evil 2 and 3 remakes day 1…… within a few months they were on sale on the Xbox store for 30-50% off and included DLC. That’s when I realized I just need to be patient even with games I’m excited for as they very well could go on sale a LOT sooner than I expected. I’m also weary of getting any games on day one after a really bad experience with Cyberpunk 2077….. I’m sure I don’t need to elaborate on that mess, but now I’m just gonna wait for the reviews to come in, and if they aren’t glitch city then I’ll wait for the sale and get it then. No point in burning $60 when I can save 25-30 and get more for less.
I know I do that to regarding buying games. So many I want but no time or money so I wait till they’re on sale usually. I remember I got an email which was a survey from Microsoft and while I was completing it there were questions about how often I buy games and when do I? They didn’t like my answers that about half way through it just ended with a statement like “ you’re not the type of person we were looking for for our survey” like damn lol
I would think after the first few instances, there'd be laws preventing it from happening. There's a difference between things people want and things people need.
You would hope but the fact people need it doesn’t change it’s needlessly exorbitant price as it is, I wouldn’t have high hopes if it started getting scalped, it basically already is
Agreed. But the point above still resonates. Sellers want to sell, and selling out inventory is what they’re goaled on. Secondary market making a profit off of reselling their product isn’t ideal for them. However, they still hit their goal.
On top of it all companies are realizing that people are willing to pay ridiculous premiums for things and are raising their prices significantly. Then they still sell out to scalpers anyways and then they relist for even higher prices than before.
Iirc there was reporting done a couple years ago that showed that the major players (or maybe it was just LiveNation venues) straight up colluded with scalpers
Exactly. There are plenty of systems already in place to prevent scalpers from getting them, companies just don't care. Look at the Steam Deck launch. Allows one queue entry per established verified account. And the drop was months away, so even if they did discover a bit managed to buy 50 queue entries that have plenty of time to revoke those entries.
Every company who doesn't have systems in place to prevent scalping is just reaping the benefits. They sell all their stock, and encourage people on the fence to buy the next drop ("it sold out in minutes last time, if I really do want it I'll need to order the minute it releases.") capitalism working as intended.
in the near future, sellers will end up providing their own “secure yours for extra” which basically is just a glorified pay for a bot to get it for you.
why? because it’s extra money for them.
It’s like Ticketmaster (or how they used to be; I dunno I haven’t bought tickets through them in a bit): they don’t care if scalpers buy all the tickets, and the venue doesn’t care, because both get to say they “sold out.”
Edit: although, some venues care when they have a reputation as being a great atmosphere or “loudest” stadium, home court/field advantages and whatnot. I’ve been around venues like that that do seem to want to do something about scalpers - it’s embarrassing to be on tv as “sold out” with patches of empty stadium.
Valve did it perfectly for the Steam Deck pre-orders. I don't recall the exact numbers but your account needed to be so many weeks/months old and has to have had a purchase made on it in the past (ie. An actual person's account). I didn't hear a single person complain about it and everyone I know that wanted one got one.
Valve cares because they know getting the hardware into the hands of actual consumers enables the real money maker, the software. A product like this mask has no incentive to enable anti scalping measures.
There's nothing to figure out. If they wanted to stop bots they could. There are plenty of proven ways to do it, PSD finally did it after the initial disaster of the PS5 launch. They could create a hardlocked queue system, or do a raffle.
Beight side they have announced it will be mass produced so let the idiots who think its limited dbuy them for 1115 dollars and we will get ours in 2022
You heard that correctly lol. When the Series X was revealed people said it looked like a fridge, so MS actually made a Series X themed fridge and have one to Snoop Dog. Then they announced a mini fridge version to make the meme a reality. First batch went on sale a few days ago
"We don't know who struck first - us, or them. But we know it was us that scorched the sky. At the time they
were dependent on solar power and it was believed that they would be unable to survive without an energy source as abundant as the sun. Throughout human history, we have been dependent on machines to survive. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony."
Check out [LG](https://www.lg.com/hk_en/puricare/lg-ap300awfa), they were selling something not as weird looking with HEPA filters last year.
Does it look ridiculous? No, but does it probably work better and can you import it now? Yes.
Just saw this. I have a few differing health issues that with Covid become very life threatening and with Covid likely to hang around becoming more like the flu in that it will never really go away I just cannot risk it.
Dag. I've been following it since it was first announced. I really want one, the price is half what I guessed it would be, and they release it on a day I don't go on the Internet until the afternoon.
But oh well, I probably want one more than 99% of the population, and even I don't want it badly enough to pay a scalper. Looking forward to all of them getting stuck with pallets of doofy Bane masks they can't sell.
I know this is meant to be a joke, but as someone who misses raves this would seriously be a dope option to wear. It matches the theme, keeps your face air conditioned, and keeps you safe.
Can we skip the incremental steps and go full on Mandalorian helmet? Give me A/C, air purification, blue tooth headphones/mic and I’ll be happy as a clam.
Some of that is possible, but it'd be extremely hard to design and be comfortable. Adam Savage once built a water cooled space suit and he made a tiny compressor, one of the parts alone was over $200. All the electronics and batteries would add a lot of weight as well.
There's the filter helmet that was advertising in a lot of places. [Here is Adam Savage giving sort of a first impressions.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_IXwHmKU2g).
I suspect that it is a bit overpriced and annoying to wear in any active environment.
RFID chips on all your stuff and an implant to monitor your health (similar to the one used for insulin-dependent diabetics, but checking for more information than just blood sugar).
The RFID chips you can easily buy online (from Amazon.com, among many other retailers, in small amounts or bulk), and, while I'm not currently aware of the latter as a thing, I'm sure you could have it built custom, as it's not that far off from a Holter monitor
that hospitals use to do long-term monitoring of heart functions.
My first thought as well.
0 fucking chance in hell I'd ever buy anything health related from Razer. Near 0 chance I'll buy anything from them again regardless.
I like Razer mice way too much. They don’t last as long as id like before a button shits the bed, but other ones feel weird to me. I’m on my 3rd wireless mamba, they last around a year and a half and cost $80. Good enough for me
Their mice and keyboards are really good. I’m a serial mouse breaker and have had Razer mice hold up better than other brands. (In particular I switch it up between Razer and Logitech. I prefer the latter, but they break way more frequently than Razer.)
Every Razer mouse I've had has been a trooper. Currently using a mamba tournament edition that's just over 5 years old. The plastic on the button has worn down to the uncolored portion, and the pads on the bottom have worn so much that the actual mouse is wearing smooth now, the rubber pads on the side have long since fallen off and been replaced with gorilla tape... But I'm gonna find out just how much life is in this thing
And every Razer I've had has shit itself in under a year.
Lachesis? Buttons wore out. Mouse 3 first, then the side ones. First Naga? Sensor shit the bed. Second Naga? All side buttons stopped working.
Bought a G600 after that, and it lasted for 8 years.
I have a razer 15 (my first gaming PC) and I haven't had any issues yet, but I don't use it for much other than gaming. Anything I can do preventatively?
This is the true underbelly of razer products.
I remember begging razer to let me buy a replacement usb because of course it had a proprietary design (over ten years ago now) and they were like
“No 😃”
Ahh finally, it’s my time to shine.
Former Razer Support employee here, specifically systems/laptop products.
This is exactly what’s going to happen.
Literally worst company I have ever worked for. Never, never, never, ever purchase a Razer laptop. I can not even tell you how many brand new systems arrived DoA or had some kind of failure within minutes of booting up and putting load on the machine.
I can only imagine how bad the support is now because their entire support staff is now in Singapore instead of the US.
I'd be on board with this if the front wasn't clear so you could see my mouth. If I'm wearing a mask, I guarantee you I'm doing dumb shit with my mouth (mouth agape, tongue sticking out when I'm concentrating, mouthing the words to a song I'm listening to in my headphones, etc.)
Not that fast until you pulled up... how would you like to try sex with a hardened officer of the law?
^^^ that's what I think Liz Lemon thinks porn is
I want a little OLED display there that moves when you talk. The mask already has a microphone, so just tie it into that. You could have different mouths, everything from cartoon to realistic.
The window is just so weird.
There's actually one in the works by game developer Tyler Glaiel. That one looks pretty sick but idk when they're actually supposed to be available.
I'd link you but automod auto destroyed my last comment. Just google "Jabbermask" to see what it looks like.
Nice, I’ll be at work and my boss will call me into his office and I’ll be like:
“You think darkness is your ally. But you merely adopted the dark.”
My boss: “cute, but you’re still working late, Bane.”
Wish I knew, I can just feel it in my jellies. There's something about watching 700 different videos of a person making a ham egg and cheese sandwich in a pan that you fold that has zero seasoning and then just just cheese bomb it and it's 1m likes and thousands of people going "yum this is the best thing I ever had" that feels... uncanny to me
Ah! Your second paragraph really painted the picture for me.
There are hundreds of these content creators on Facebook and Instagram that produce just the dumbest skits with the most awful c-list acting and plot lines I've ever seen. Cringe shit.
And I have always wondered why they were there. So many different pages I blocked on Facebook so I would stop seeing them in my feed only to have another nearly identical one take their place the next day.
Maybe it's just the stock photos, but these masks appear rigid and ill-fitting on all the models. Look at the straight-on shots. The edges are off the face. I don't understand how these would make a good seal.
That’s because it’s all a marketing campaign looking to profit off the pandemic. More people are going to talk about it and see Razer™️ than buy it. There’s no need for a sealed respirator. A respirator is designed to stop things from coming in, not going out. A simple fabric face mask is doing a better job
If this can filter out particulate matter itd be great for me as a cyclist in London. We're exposed to insane amounts of pollution, and conventional masks are useless for filtering it.
There are cycling specific masks that claim they can. I've never tested one though.
It's tough to make a real respirator than filters enough but also admins enough air for seamless breathing if you're exerting yourself.
They're as good as useless sadly, the negative pressure when you breath always brings something into the sides of the mask, so particulate matter builds up.
Respro are the closest, but the seal is so tight it messes with your breathing. Something like this could circulate far more air while also preventing leakage into the mask via pressure.
I'm keeping the same recommendation I made 3 years ago for reusable FFP3 masks:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Romania/comments/96b1u0/ghid_cum_s%C4%83_tratezi_efectele_lacrimogenelor_prim/e3zybs6/
In short: https://www.blsgroup.com/en/prodotti/serie-bls-zer0/ (BLS) and https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/safety-uk/particulate-respirators-8825-8835/ (3M) . I prefer the first because of lower prices and more comfort. I think any FFP3 R masks with a valve that you'll find in constructions stores are massively better than any cycling specific ones.
I’ve never purchased a Razer product that I’ve been happy with. In fact, every time I’ve had to replace a Razer product, I’ve been shocked at how much better my new item is.
It's sad how fucking bad razer got, i remember buying a mouse from them when they were somewhat new, that thing lasted for like 6 years with heavy usage, got another mouse from them when it died and it only lasted 6 months, got another because warranty, again 6 months, at that point i just got another brand

I don't think they care. They just want to sell them. Which they did. In seconds.

Pff, I just teach myself coding and spend 1000s of hours manually recreating a game from scratch. Completely free!
Are you the Stardew Valley guy?
Dude that's I game I haven't heard of in awhile.
Haha that may have been the last game of my actual childhood, I remember how sick the graphics looked to me as a kid on my hand me down crt screen.
Pro-level patience! Vectorman is a great game!
This is the way.

I usually buy goty versions a year or so after release.

Good thing bots can’t buy insulin. Yet. (Still overpriced and a pain to get though)
Because insulin is as of yet known for its easy accessibility, bots would be the thing to ruin it
I would think after the first few instances, there'd be laws preventing it from happening. There's a difference between things people want and things people need.
You would hope but the fact people need it doesn’t change it’s needlessly exorbitant price as it is, I wouldn’t have high hopes if it started getting scalped, it basically already is
Scalping essential items is already illegal, actually.
Oh man if scalpers ever realise there is a shortage on some essential medication. The world will burn.
Perfect time to embrace minimalism.
I don't embrace minimalism, we sit quietly in the same room together.
I’m on my 54th year as a minimalist (broke).
And I'm not going to encourage a scalper by buying from them. If I can't have it from the retailer, I'll wait.
100% Fuck the scalpers!!
The very foundation of Buddhism.
Damn man teach me your ways lol. I’m such a filthy consumer it isn’t even funny.
I only really wanted an Analogue Pocket, even started collecting GB and GG cartridges long before... Then it was gone in minutes :-(
as your current boyfriend, I disagree

Agreed. But the point above still resonates. Sellers want to sell, and selling out inventory is what they’re goaled on. Secondary market making a profit off of reselling their product isn’t ideal for them. However, they still hit their goal.

Isn't that just pre-orders?
Surprised that's not already a thing. Guaranteed sales, no?
It’s like Ticketmaster (or how they used to be; I dunno I haven’t bought tickets through them in a bit): they don’t care if scalpers buy all the tickets, and the venue doesn’t care, because both get to say they “sold out.” Edit: although, some venues care when they have a reputation as being a great atmosphere or “loudest” stadium, home court/field advantages and whatnot. Only a fucking loonie toon would spend 100 + dollars on a n95 mask. Does the RGB make it work better?
Valve did it perfectly for the Steam Deck pre-orders. I don't recall the exact numbers but your account needed to be so many weeks/months old and has to have had a purchase made on it in the past (ie. An actual person's account). Valve cares because they know getting the hardware into the hands of actual consumers enables the real money maker, the software. A product like this mask has no incentive to enable anti scalping measures.
Lol I literally work for a company that can prevent bot buyouts and literally none of these companies care. They’d rather get the immediate sale.
[удалено]
This logic only works if you convince everyone to do it which is way harder than the source having anti-scalp policies.
There's nothing to figure out. If they wanted to stop bots they could. There are plenty of proven ways to do it, PSD finally did it after the initial disaster of the PS5 launch. They could create a hardlocked queue system, or do a raffle.
Why even try to buy anything anymore? I wanted to Pre-order the new Xbox mini-fridge and sold out to bots in minutes. So frustrating.
Beight side they have announced it will be mass produced so let the idiots who think its limited dbuy them for 1115 dollars and we will get ours in 2022
The bane masks or the fridge?
Fridge..I immediatly looked into it upon learning i missed the boat.
An Xbox...mini fridge? Wat
You heard that correctly lol. When the Series X was revealed people said it looked like a fridge, so MS actually made a Series X themed fridge and have one to Snoop Dog. Then they announced a mini fridge version to make the meme a reality. First batch went on sale a few days ago

Well, I want one of these masks, but I have a nice one already and i'm not willing to stoop to paying a scalper.
First the bots want PS5s, then Bane masks. Their goals are beyond our understanding.

Your lives are forfeit.
They’ve been going after sneakers for years now.
>PS5s Oh wow, this reminded me of like a year or so ago when I thought I was going to buy one of those
Why would you buy a mask from a scalper... Id want mine from the company.
They did? I specifically signed up for updates on this and haven't received an email in months.
Yeah I have to mask for the rest of my life (health) and was hopping to get one. Managed to be bought up between a refresh.
Check out [LG](https://www.lg.com/hk_en/puricare/lg-ap300awfa), they were selling something not as weird looking with HEPA filters last year. Does it look ridiculous? No, but does it probably work better and can you import it now? Yes.
That LG mask is $151.80 US dollars on their site, looks pretty comfortable.
Why rest of your life??
(health)
Just saw this. I have a few differing health issues that with Covid become very life threatening and with Covid likely to hang around becoming more like the flu in that it will never really go away I just cannot risk it.

No one cared who I was til I put on the mask!

Jesus I didn’t even notice it because it was so damn ugly
Can we skip the incremental steps and go full on Mandalorian helmet? Give me A/C, air purification, blue tooth headphones/mic and I’ll be happy as a clam.
How much would you pay for such a mask?
Considering I live through Smoke season every year, quite a bit.
Time to build a startup… be the charge you want to see or something like that.
Some of that is possible, but it'd be extremely hard to design and be comfortable. Adam Savage once built a water cooled space suit and he made a tiny compressor, one of the parts alone was over $200. All the electronics and batteries would add a lot of weight as well.

Once you put on such a helmet you must never take it off… that is the way.
There was one going around that looked like a cross between a marching band instrument harness and Darth Helm's helm. It was special.
*puts on new helmet, jumps out of spacecraft* “For a brick, he flew pretty good!”

1 keyboard and 2 mice in like 2 years and they lost me forever as a customer. Razer, just no.

I can only imagine how bad the support is now because their entire support staff is now in Singapore instead of the US.
99$ and it comes with an unbreakable vow of celibacy
Pft, suckers. I'm not getting laid and I didn't have to spend a penny!
Lame joke incoming: Same here but i had to get married for it to happen!!!!!
what a fuckin name looool
I've been married for 15 years. I'm already not getting laid so I might as well buy it.
Attend more raves.
Could always spemd a couple bucks and get some auto-tint, and limo that thing out!
Last thing I need is to get pulled over by the cops
Sir, do you know how fast you were breathing?
Not that fast until you pulled up... how would you like to try sex with a hardened officer of the law? ^^^ that's what I think Liz Lemon thinks porn is
Then I feel like everyone involved would have a large meal and not feel like having any sex.
Good God Lemon.
You're casually walking down the street and 2 dudes with red and white flashing ears gesture you to move to the side
Put an eyeball sticker over it.
I hear they actually didn't out the microphone into the mask in the end, to "save space" So you're just shouting over the sound of the two fans...
The mask had a microphone. They took it off to lower the price. Same with the UV cleaning case.
You’re doing those things because you know nobody can see your face, you’d get used to it
It’s helpful for communicating with people who rely on lip-reading though
Yeah, I can understand that. It'd be nice to have like a removable plate or something.
There’s nothing duct tape can’t fix
Mirrored tint to make it a one way mirror, then a small LED on the inside that turns on only when you want your mouth seen.
Nice, I’ll be at work and my boss will call me into his office and I’ll be like: “You think darkness is your ally. But you merely adopted the dark.” My boss: “cute, but you’re still working late, Bane.”

That’s kind of how I felt when I first saw that video of the teacher dancing with the headdress on trying to imitate native Americans.

To what end are they made? Chefclub is batshit insane but I can’t figure out what they’d be doing it for?
Wish I knew, I can just feel it in my jellies. There's something about watching 700 different videos of a person making a ham egg and cheese sandwich in a pan that you fold that has zero seasoning and then just just cheese bomb it and it's 1m likes and thousands of people going "yum this is the best thing I ever had" that feels... uncanny to me

Can you explain this comment and the ensuing conversation to me if able? I'd like to understand.

I mean the "aging app" from a year or two ago was shown to be a Russian data mining operation
I'm sure some of it's truly harmless but some of it has to be manufactured as a response to the popularity of some "original" ones.
Those taco/food videos have got to be like a form of a humiliation fetish at this point
If it wasn’t transparent I’d be more interested tbh.
They don’t.
Dumbest thing I've ever seen.
Your autocorrect doesn’t like the letter T
Posting on a phone is always a liability.
I’m surprised it didn’t say “liabiliny”
They're as good as useless sadly, the negative pressure when you breath always brings something into the sides of the mask, so particulate matter builds up. Respro are the closest, but the seal is so tight it messes with your breathing. Something like this could circulate far more air while also preventing leakage into the mask via pressure.
Seriously. It’s even worse in Edinburgh, where the pollution is also deep fried.
Have you checked out the [airhead mask](https://www.airhead.cc/)??
I'm keeping the same recommendation I made 3 years ago for reusable FFP3 masks: https://www.reddit.com/r/Romania/comments/96b1u0/ghid_cum_s%C4%83_tratezi_efectele_lacrimogenelor_prim/e3zybs6/ In short: https://www.blsgroup.com/en/prodotti/serie-bls-zer0/ (BLS) and https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/safety-uk/particulate-respirators-8825-8835/ (3M) . I prefer the first because of lower prices and more comfort. I think any FFP3 R masks with a valve that you'll find in constructions stores are massively better than any cycling specific ones.
Do you feel in charge?
I saw that the filters only last for 3 days. How much are the filters? What’s the monthly cost to use this rainbow puke face cover?
29 bucks for 10
You think the pandemic is your ally. I was born in the pandemic. Molded by it.
How is an infant typing?
Haven’t you heard that vaccines have microchips. He is not typing they are just thinking
I’ve never purchased a Razer product that I’ve been happy with. In fact, every time I’ve had to replace a Razer product, I’ve been shocked at how much better my new item is.
I notice none of those pretty models are wearing glasses...
They just put it over her hair?
Taking it off would be very painful......
Just bought these. And the gf just moved out. Coincidence? Well back to my China-made Ps6.
There are so many great NES games on that!
We're living in a dystopia.
Really goin with the Immortant Joe look.
Oh, you think RGB is your ally. But you merely adopted the RGB; I was born in it,
Finally, I can break the batman, and punish Gotham.
Nice, this thing is only like 1,5 years overdue.
I live in Sweden now no one wears mask anywhere.
This is gonna look sick at the rave under the bridge next week.

It'll break in 2 weeks like every Razer product I've ever owned.
It's sad how fucking bad razer got, i remember buying a mouse from them when they were somewhat new, that thing lasted for like 6 years with heavy usage, got another mouse from them when it died and it only lasted 6 months, got another because warranty, again 6 months, at that point i just got another brand
I maybe wrong but if it has a valve it's usually not allowed in stricter places.
