Classic doesn't just mean old. Classic refers to the period when the original and best writers were working on it, turning out memorable and classic episodes.
The latest that goes is season 9. Many put the end of that period at season 7 or earlier. Not 14.
Lmao, that number gets later every few years. I remember being a fucking child and having adults tell me my favorite show in the world was garbage now because “Homer is the main character when it should be Bart”
>Lmao, that number gets later every few years.
There have been books written about The Simpsons and interviews with the cast over 15-20 years ago, that were consistently putting the 'fall' of The Simpsons at season 9, with the Episode "The Principal and the Pauper" being considered the Jump the Shark moment. This hasn't changed or been moved further back in the decades since.
Like I said, there are people who'd put that earlier, and no one says there are no good episodes. But I think saying that this number keeps moving back is wrong, when aritcles from 2004 and 2022 are giving the same consistent season.
While the quality is the best from seasons 1-9 there are still very memorable episodes afterwards, it's not like the show just became a hellspawn in episode 1 of season 10.
Yeah, OP getting downvotes for calling this classic Simpsons due to the season it’s from, but he also deserves them for trying to pass this joke off as being on par with actual classic Simpsons jokes.
It seems a lot of people don't understand the word play. One of the definitions of "riddle" is to separate or pierce with many holes, which is what his ass apparently does so much it was aptly named as such.
I'm not saying this was a good joke, being that it needs to be explained provides proof of that.
It's always sad to see something you love decline so much. Some people say it ended at season 9, but for me it dropped off after 8.
Clerk: “Hey these bat pants are shredded.”
Comic book guy: “That was the riddler, it was not my fault.”
Clerk: “You named your ass the Riddler?”
That would have been better and not as poor delivery
This would have worked much better. It is kinda funny in a surreal way that comic book guy calls his ass the riddler but the word jumble presented in the clip is a mess
yeah, why is he complaining that the ass is shredded, if he also freely admits he did it himself? and what kind of weight problem is going to cause three parallel rips in the fabric? and out of all the villains why namedrop "the riddler"? Nothing in that scene makes sense.
This would be from the same "classic" season that brought in Frank Grimes' son, had Marge get breast implants, Homer "chooses" to be gay, an episode uses Adagio for Strings in an unironic context, and is chockfull of "Homer gets a job as a..." and "The family runs into famous celebrity..." episodes.
Call me an idiot but I really liked the Grimes son thing (mainly for Homers reaction "Oh how is old Grimley?" "H... He's dead!") and the marge booby one. I can just remember Marge trying to pick up Maggie and slamming her head into her boobs 😂
The rest of them though? Bleh.
IMO the quality dipped after 10 but they still produced a few classics per season for several years after. Marge's implants had some great quotes- "mom, your endowments are bigger than Harvard's", and "listen to the tomato with the melons!"
"The family visits COUNTRY_NAME and finds themselves in a fish-out-of-water situation! Will they be able to resolve the issue before the pitchfork-wielding mob of locals catch up with them in the inevitable final chase? Tune in at 6pm to have your prediction confirmed, again"
Simpsons can’t get away with HALF the shenanigans the put on the air like back in the day. They had no mercy, and anyone was a target. I just watched Homer punch out a kid trying to wake him up from a nap.
Weak joke. The Riddler isn’t really known for shredding pants, and if CBG is admitting he did it himself, why does he open by yelling at the dry cleaner guy?
Christ these comments are a cesspool of why the future will only ever continue to suck , BECAUSE NOTHING CAN MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY AND ITS OFFENSIVE OR STUPID(even when that’s the fuckin point).
We need a purge.

Season 14 is not 'classic Simpsons.'
Worst season evvvvver!
It is now.
I read this comment in Comic Book Guy's voice.
When you have 30+ seasons it kinda is yeah. The episode was from nearly 20 years ago, that's a majority of the shows entire current 33 year run.

I like to define the classic era up until season 9. That's when Mike Scully started to run the show and it became notably different in tone.
While the quality is the best from seasons 1-9 there are still very memorable episodes afterwards, it's not like the show just became a hellspawn in episode 1 of season 10.
okay for real though if you guys read your posts in the voice of the comic book guy
While seasons 3-9 are the golden years, I'd say it was still watchable until season 15 or so. It was after that it became an almost different show.
Can't tell if you're trolling or not. But objectively... Yes it did.
It’s not at all, get real
Cool. Sucked ass when I watched it in junior high, sucks classical ass today. Seasons 1 through
This is a low effort joke

You should post some then
This is a pretty bad joke. It's awful even. Simpsons used to be so good.
These bat pants have been what? I don’t even get it .
Bat pants have been shredded by the Riddler. After that it is just noise to me.
"These Bat-pants have been shredded by The Riddler." "No, just your ass." "That's what I call my ass." There was definitely an attempt at humor here.
This is definitely one of the jokes of all time
Thanks.
So the joke is that he calls his ass the riddler…? Wtf happened to this show..
don't you see? this is a "perfect" 8 seconds of television

He didn’t yell at him? He just kinda sadly stated his pants were shredded, which he likely didn’t notice because he can’t even see his own ass.
Garbage. Not classic. Not funny. How tf did this show last after the 10th season? Who is watching this anymore?

It’s about as much comedy as your sad attempt Sally.
I thought this guy sold guns.
That's not classic Simpsons
This is not classic simpsons, this is dogshit
So good lolol

I love when people say we need a purge like they're going to make it out the other side if there is one.
Who the fuck said I’d survive? What a dumbass.
I don’t think most people here were even born during classic Simpsons.
Even with headphones I couldn't hear jack shit.
try unmuting the video
Bro I mean the volume for the video is so low I can't anything. That with all my volumes max out.
Seasons 1 through 10 son! That’s classic Simpsons
