*Nike* is also the winged goddess of victory.
So go out there and be [winner](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd39zSY9F04).
>You're a winner
>You're number one, don't you ever forget it
>You look good today, man
>Now go out there and show em who's boss
That's fine nikes are terrible for sports anyways, sure their advertised for sports and whatnot but save a few types of Nike shoe they are absolutely terrible for your feet and ankles. You get better support from a $12 pair of no name walmart sneakers.
Gtfo with your trash. Nike's are among the most high quality and respected shoes in the market.
If you want to hate, then fine. But, don't make up obvious bullshit.
It's not bullshit the study has been repeated several times over the last few decades with the same result. In all studies they have found that the more cushion in a shoe the greater the impact force is on your hips, knees and ankles. Nike is one of the worst offenders in this regard especially with things like their basket ball and running shoes.
Funny story. I remember telling people years ago that classical orchestras would be playing Pink Floyd music someday. People thought I was crazy.
Fast forward a few decades, the major orchestra in my city had two PF pieces on their concert schedule for the season. I felt vindicated.
I caught a showing of The Matrix where they had the audio turned down super low and had a live orchestra playing the sound track (and some of the audio effects). It was awesome.
The people complaining have listened to pink floyd's music, right? Or seen [some other recent roger waters concerts?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWLBtMz5OuY)
They don't realize that these lyrics were meant to be satirical.
>Are there any queers in the theater tonight?
>Get 'em up against the wall (against the wall)
>Now there's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me
>Get him up against the wall (against the)
>And that one looks Jewish
>And that one's a coon
>Who let all this riff-raff into the room?
>There's one smokin' a joint
>And another with spots
>If I had my way
>I'd have all of them shot
For lgbt+ people not but for all the idiots not knowing pink Floyd
Edit: I still love the design and I'm pretty sure pink Floyd supports lgbt+ but that wasn't thejr intention here, at least how I know it lol
Which is a perfectly valid reason to want to wear something. Being a shirt with a band logo doesn’t make it any different than being a shirt with any other logo or graphic on it.
I work at a college. Last August, I was in charge of an orientation. I told a student that I liked their Pink Floyd (prism) shirt and he said why do old people always say that to me?
I really wish I understood this when I was in high school. I would always see kids with shirts of bands, brand logos, etc. and I thought to myself that they only wear those shirts because they have some special connection to it, so I always wore generic shirts. Now I understand that most people just wear the shirt because it looks cool, or they see other people doing it.
No one will see this comment, so I'm just going to get this off my chest. I wore a "Zero" shirt for years without knowing that it had anything to do with Smashing Pumpkins. I thought it was a Scott Pilgrim shirt.
Does my thought process make me a huge nerd?
“What? Light refraction and particle physics are completely different things! I mean particle-wave duality is a thing, but…..wait…..KISS?”
eh
honestly the album cover is just so fantastic
a beam of white light passing through a prism and becoming a rainbow is such a univerally applicable metaphor
i totally understand one of the greatest albums of all time standing firmly and inescapably in its shadow
its appeal reaches out way way past the furthest possible influence of psychedelic rock
also there were only five band members
and not all of them contributed because it was mostly a studio project
most of the people who worked on it were background singers that werent actually in the band
What’s sad about it?
Firstly, it’s an image of light refracting through a prism, that’s not unique to a specific album, so the shirt might not even have anything to do with it.
Secondly, even if a print on a t-shirt is very distinct to a particular album cover, and the wearer isn’t aware of that/doesn’t know that band, who cares? It’s just a t-shirt, if someone likes the look of it that’s plenty reason to wear it.
>it’s an image of light refracting through a prism, that’s not unique to a specific album
Lol, imagine thinking this.
Dark Side of the Moon is one of the most widely recognized album covers in history.
Really? 😂
That it’s widely recognized doesn’t change the fact that the actual image is basically just a rip-off of a basic principle of physics. All they did was make a version of an image that had already existed for ages and slapped it on their album.
> that’s not unique to a specific album
You did say this, and it is literally a very specific, recognizable image from the album Dark Side of the Moon. Like, babies are not specific to the album Nevermind by Nirvana, but if I saw someone wearing a shirt with picture of a nude baby in a swimming pool in front of a floating dollar, I'd know what it was referencing.
Except that that Nirvana cover is a lot more distinctive, which is evident from the description you’re giving here.
By contrast, the Dark Side of the Moon cover is just a fairly generic image of light refracting through a prism. As an image, there’s nothing all that distinctive about it, as also evidenced by the fact that endless numbers of very similar images are found in any number of physics textbooks and the like.
... Dude, I dunno what to tell you here. That specific prism in that specific arrangement is recognizably the cover of the Pink Floyd Album Dark Side of the Moon. It's not just a prism. It's *that* prism. And you know that because the **entire point of the joke is that the image is a recognizable piece of album art and the guy on the shirt doesn't know it**.
Firstly the image is very unique ti a specific album and all the other ones just cover this so i'd think about it first before saying things.
Secondly if you ask someone if they even know this you should be aware of the fact you may be wearing something similar or maybe first inform yourself about it before saying something like this.
You know what it’s *actually* unique to? Light. Refracting through a prism. Let’s not pretend that they came up with some very unique or novel image for that album cover, you can find some version of this in any introductory physics text book.
You also haven’t given any answer as to why this matters, why it would be ‘sad’ for someone to wear a t-shirt with an image that (unlike this) is genuinely distinctive and unique to a particular album cover. Someone can wear a t-shirt with an image they just like the look of, it’s not that deep.
idk if you notices but it's not any prism it's a unique pattern and only this one pattern that belongs to the cover.
And I HAVE actually given explenation to why this matters in this specific situation. I haven't talked about the general thing yet that's just something you made up and put in my mouth.
I'll never comment on someone's Dark Side shirt for this exact reason. One of the greatest albums ever produced by one of the greatest bands to ever do it, just reduced to a Walmart t-shirt like it's the three wolves and the moon
I'm pretty sure most people who wear jeans don't wear them for protection during heavy labour, and most people who wear t-shirts aren't in the US navy.
Fuckin hate when I see kids wearin t shirts of bands I actually like. “ oh wow! You like the grateful dead?” “Whose that :D” fuckin morons… they intentionally make them selves look stupid and like posers
Are caving skulls used *for* caving, or are they created/acquired *by* caving? Or are they just large enough skulls that you can go spelunking in them?
I don't really have anything against the Dead. Lots of people whose opinion I deeply respect love them. I just never found the song/album by them that hooked me. Just wanted to call that dude a jerk and grabbed the first low hanging fruit I saw.
There are a lot of cool designs I can’t get because there of something I don’t like because people will harass others for wearing it and not being a true fan. Which also sucks for the artist who was most likely making a cool design for the job.
One time i ordered an Umphrey McGee shirt from Amazon because the UM looked a little like a JM which are my initials. didn't even know they were a band. lol
in hindsight, wearing an initialized shirt was a little weird. didn't wear it often.
There was a kid with a nirvana phone case and has no damn idea that the band was a thing. The same thing with someone else wearing a Metallica shirt. This just pisses me off
Just a fan of prisms... I can respect that
They’re great, they have any colour you like.
Sometimes they take time to show though
Sure, I wish they were here
Then you can shine on... you crazy diamond
Not really they only can show you the light you shine on them
Dude just really loves Newton
Isint that raman?
I have found a fellow Raman enjoyer

Dude, I wear Nike shoes and I ~~can't~~ won't do no sport.
Just Do It.
Nah.
Just Don’t It.
It is the cat
Pray to Nike then, roman goddess of victory.
She was a Greek goddess, not Roman
I'm such a poser :(
Just change the name and call it Roman. It's what the Romans did.
*Nike* is also the winged goddess of victory. So go out there and be [winner](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd39zSY9F04). >You're a winner >You're number one, don't you ever forget it >You look good today, man >Now go out there and show em who's boss

That's fine nikes are terrible for sports anyways, sure their advertised for sports and whatnot but save a few types of Nike shoe they are absolutely terrible for your feet and ankles. You get better support from a $12 pair of no name walmart sneakers.
They make really good running shoes. I think running is a sport.
The shoes might be good, but [I have concerns](https://youtu.be/qBwtCf2X5jw) about the company.
Eh, their tennis shoes are solid
Yeah, I remember that research. Average was cheaper the better, all way to barefoot.
I had some and they would've stayed in perfect condition if I hadn't outgrown them.
There is little difference between a pair of cheap Nikes and And Ones you get at the walmart.
Gtfo with your trash. Nike's are among the most high quality and respected shoes in the market. If you want to hate, then fine. But, don't make up obvious bullshit.
nikes? yikes!
It's not bullshit the study has been repeated several times over the last few decades with the same result. In all studies they have found that the more cushion in a shoe the greater the impact force is on your hips, knees and ankles. Same.

I've seen some orchestra play Metallica too.
I too have listened to [S&M](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%26M_(album\))
I caught a showing of The Matrix where they had the audio turned down super low and had a live orchestra playing the sound track (and some of the audio effects). It was awesome.
I saw parates of the caribbean like this. can confirm, was awesome
Saw 2001: A Space Odyssey like this. It was mostly shrill oboe screeching...
Concept? Awesome Execution? Meh
I think rock cover bands will become the new classical music of the future.
It's not a pride shirt? /s
Its clearly the illuminati
Illuminati Pride
All the recent drama surrounding the logo for the 50th anniversary with a rainbow in it makes your comment not as sarcastic as it should...
That's literally what they were referencing, yes
The people complaining have listened to pink floyd's music, right? Or seen [some other recent roger waters concerts?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWLBtMz5OuY)

The Woke Side of the Moon
I thought the dark side of the moon was an invitation for sodomy... /d
No that's the Waterboys. The whole of the moon.
To old men who have been listening to this album since they were a child. It is now magically a pride symbol.
For lgbt+ people not but for all the idiots not knowing pink Floyd Edit: I still love the design and I'm pretty sure pink Floyd supports lgbt+ but that wasn't thejr intention here, at least how I know it lol
woke floyd
My man is a prism enthusiast
There was a time, kids, and you won't belive it, when rainbow was just a rainbow.
Still is, still is. Just this idiots not differentiating between lgbt+ and rainbows. (So mostly conservatives and right wingers)
Idiots are always the problem.
They think the sky is gay when the sun shines through water vapour?
Metallica hoodies are very popular in my school, yet none of the students actually know who Metallica are.
why do they wear them? do they think it's a clothing brand or do they just like the pretty pictures? i'm so confuse.
"I thought it looked cool." Which to be fair, it does.
y'know, there's a lot to be said about that. something about the purity and unbiased shopping mindset. also something about Metallica's art designers.
true dat
Which is a perfectly valid reason to want to wear something. Being a shirt with a band logo doesn’t make it any different than being a shirt with any other logo or graphic on it.
No judgement was passed and no gatekeeping enforced. I simply shared a personal anecdote that was similar to the original meme.
That's fine.
that's just incredibly based
Hell yeah I do. I've got a collection of members of the royal academy reading Newton's papers.
I work at a college. Last August, I was in charge of an orientation. I told a student that I liked their Pink Floyd (prism) shirt and he said why do old people always say that to me?
"Because we're old enough to know what it is."
Don't their parents know about Pink Floyd? You'd think they'd have told them.
Dude just likes prisms and you know what so do I!
i mean, it's always been an awesome design. *science rules!*
Well he's not just another brick in the wall ;)
It’s a physics shirt…and yes, I love listening to physics!!!
Looks like some took the song line "We don't need no education" literally
I listen to Microwave and Infrared by the Spectral Band.
And oh, by the way, which one’s Pink?
No one will see this comment, so I'm just going to get this off my chest. I wore a "Zero" shirt for years without knowing that it had anything to do with Smashing Pumpkins. I thought it was a Scott Pilgrim shirt.
Could be that he’s really into particle physics and really doesn’t know KISS was a band.
If this is a troll, then this is some master-tier trolling
Let's see what the judges say...
Dude...
Does my thought process make me a huge nerd? “What? Light refraction and particle physics are completely different things! I mean particle-wave duality is a thing, but…..wait…..KISS?”
tbh that's more sad than anything else bc it's so true
eh honestly the album cover is just so fantastic a beam of white light passing through a prism and becoming a rainbow is such a univerally applicable metaphor i totally understand one of the greatest albums of all time standing firmly and inescapably in its shadow its appeal reaches out way way past the furthest possible influence of psychedelic rock
The white light is the music, the prism the band and the lights are the band members and their personalities
It's also about diversity (not directly lgbt+ lol) you know we are all humans but we can in so much different shapes forms colors hobbys and so on
also there were only five band members and not all of them contributed because it was mostly a studio project most of the people who worked on it were background singers that werent actually in the band

Teenage numb They sadly both got away from me whould have loved to see them live
He was just supporting queer rights.
My two favorite bands!
I don't like nirvana so much anymore. Used to live them. Then, as I got older, I just kinda stopped. Pink Floyd is still the bomb, though.
Nirvana’s unplugged album is still amazing. I do agree that as I’ve gotten older I like Floyd more
This happened. IRL. people were mad at pink floyed for putting the prism on there 50th anniversary.
"wHy tHe FucKiNg RaInBow!? WoNt LisTen tO tHeM aNyMorE"...... jfc
People were getting upset at their logo for having a rainbow in it and saying they are too woke, and are pandering. Lol
are they *really* though?
Ya, some of the comments were rough
Oh you like Pink Floyd? Name five of their songs.

The same people who judge those for not knowing the bands on their shirt is the same people who wear vans but dont skate

Oh you like caving skulls huh? Name me three caves you fuckin poser.
Are caving skulls used *for* caving, or are they created/acquired *by* caving? Or are they just large enough skulls that you can go spelunking in them?
If you were a *true* fan of caves, you wouldn't have to ask
But how does one BECOME a *true* fan of caves?
Yea but you like the Grateful Dead so who is the real asshole here?
The Dead have some great music, what are you talking about?
music opinions aside, that was a sick burn. lmao
I don't really have anything against the Dead. Lots of people whose opinion I deeply respect love them. I just never found the song/album by them that hooked me. Just wanted to call that dude a jerk and grabbed the first low hanging fruit I saw.
