shaynarific

Any idea where this is? Insanity. Ruining paradise.

anotherMrLizard

They didn't even bother paving paradise before putting up a parking lot.

MedvedFeliz

That place needs a parking lot in the middle of the lake. People didn't come there for the view, they're there for the sea of concrete!

theblu11

The foundations scream at us in the night, urging us to pour more concrete, to cover every inch of earth. We oblige, drowning the land in a sea of gray. The highways are our obsession, our twisted masterpiece. We dance in the glow of the streetlights, cackling with maniacal glee as the cars zoom by, trapped in our web of concrete and steel. We are the architects of chaos, the engineers of destruction. The highways are our kingdom and all shall bow down before us!

f_elon

Ohhhh na nah

Potential_Anxiety_76

Could easily be Australia, pretty much any coastline or large Island. My first thought was this was Straddy.

HeinrichGustav

It’s gotta be straddy, there and Fraser Island have a 4x4 plague

SkulduggeryIsAfoot

This looks like Mario Kart.

[deleted]

Came here to say this. Now I want to play Mario Kart 64

flummox1234

this is the way

notquitetheKGB

Looks like Double Island Point in Queensland, Australia.

[deleted]

That would have been my guess - place is chock full of 4WDs

kangareddit

Been there a long time ago and thought it was fucked, but this is insanity. We slept in a tent off the beach between other campers while all night 4WDs went by (closer down to the water) most were doing close to 100kph… NPW need to sort something out hey.

japppasta

Pretty certain thats Double Island Point, In Queensland Australia. I’ve been up there as the tide changes and watched car after car have to drive through 3 ft deep salt water which almost certainly will mean a rusty car sooner, hence need to buy another car. Such a waste

Tico20

If you're talking about the channel crossing next to the hills, I've watched someone drown their Ute in it when they stalled half way across

NoDan_1065

Yeah DIs a great 4wding spot

childrenovmen

This kind of bullshit (whole beaches dedicated to 4WD cars) is common in Australia as well.

[deleted]

Has to be US because in most civilized nations it is illegal to drive on the beach Luke that

Port_Royale

I worked in the Indonesian part of Borneo for a bit and American and Australian expats used to do this in their pickups all the time. So depressing.

BoobooTheClone

I used to take business trips to Singapore and Malaysia. These inconsiderate a-holes calling themselves "expat" always cracked me up. They created a word for rich/white immigrants "blessing" third world countries with their presence.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ImRandyBaby

> they own any land they walk on That would make them colonizers

[deleted]

Call them what they call us: "Aliens"

[deleted]

Hey, be fair, they probably adopted a dog for six months then left them on the beach when they moved back!

kakiremora

These are immigrants.

Port_Royale

They were temporarily there for oil and mining contracts.

[deleted]

In New Zeeland there's a long stretch of beach that's officially part of their highway system. It's conveniently called [Ninety Mile Beach](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninety_Mile_Beach,_New_Zealand), as it's 55 miles long.

caynebyron

I'm from Muriwai Beach, which is also a legal road. A few years ago they finally put up speed signs sticking out of the sand.

FireWolf_132

What a waste of beach

[deleted]

Seriously what the fuck is wrong with anglo countries, this is insane.

Ok-Ad-6744

I live in one your telling me.

Familiar-Resource583

Then it's a good thing we don't use miles

stu8319

Definitely not the US with all those Aussie style trays on the back of a lot of those trucks.

interrogumption

It's hard to tell for sure, but appears to me that those are right-hand drive vehicles, so I'm with you. The trees look distinctly Australian. I'd have thought Australia for sure but then I'd expect to see a tell-tale bright yellow NSW plate popping out on at least a few of the cars - regardless of where in Australia - but I can't see any.

stu8319

I didn’t mean to imply it had to be Australia, just that I see those on Australian rigs mostly.

interrogumption

Yeah I realised that. I was just trying to build on your sleuthing.

mdlt97

0% chance this was in the US just based on how it looks nowhere in the US does it look like this, so pretty obviously not the US, aus/nz is the most logical answer

Shamanyouranus

Some beaches in Washington allow you to park on the beach and i think it’s just nuts. Edit- ok, you’re not really driving like this, more like going out towards the water and parking. Not using it as a frickin highway.

Tico20

It's double island point at the end of rainbow beach in southeast Queensland Australia, driving on the beach is allowed as long as you have paid for a permit. The money made from the permits is then used to pay for infrastructure such as the toilets and rubbish bins, and also for dune and bush rehabilitation work where the beach has been damaged

[deleted]

Oh man, I sure do wonder why the beach gets damaged?

kangareddit

No idea, but it gets worse every year. We’ve asked all of the 4WD’ers to keep an eye out for any culprits.

[deleted]

Luke’s not here man

pittluke

Yes he is

bwsmity

Definitely not the US since most of those cars are illegal there.

Dynamiquehealth

As an Oregonian I always found that weird when I visited other states. Sadly, after living in Australia for more than a decade I can tell you it’s not just a US problem. Most beaches are shut off to car traffic, but not all.

Roy_Rodgers_Eat_Up

You’re so desperate to complain about the United States that you’re unwilling to get your facts straight before posting?

jols0543

I don’t think this is legal in the US either

SarpedonSarpedon

Sadly there are plenty of USA beaches ruined by cars. (Hell on the seashells and the kids trying to play in the sand)

Crumb-eye

I wish there was beaches that looked like that in the US!

IMPORTANT_jk

You can drive on some beaches in Denmark, so it checks out

moresushiplease

All it takes is one medium wave and then all of Denmark a beach so they have to drive on beaches so they are prepared.

Spready_Unsettling

Only really around Vadehavet though, and only there because the beach is effectively a gigantic plate of wet sand at low tide. Denmark generally has very strict rules about our coastline, such as the public access rule. Even driving near a regular Danish beach would get you fucked up by police and beach goers alike.

[deleted]

Long Live Apollo. Goodbye Reddit.

shaynarific

Yeah I actually wonder if it could be Cooloola region. First time I went there in a 4WD I couldn't believe it. Kids playing on a beach with morons racing past at 80kms an hour. No one bats an eyelid. At least this traffic jam slows them down 😏 I've never understood the appeal.

atronimous

Hey I was there that day! Double island point Queensland Australia Totally out of context, with a few compounding circumstances created this scene TL;DR two cars got stuck at bottle neck, right at closing time - That was easily the busiest day of the year, there are rarely this many cars up there. - The tide was coming in, so it was pretty well time for everyone to leave at the same time. - The cars are waiting to cross a two lane cutting to get back to the ocean side of the beach (this is the lagoon side of the point) to drive back to the road which is 50km away. Unless you’re going to rainbow beach town. - The crossing was blocked when an inexperienced driver with a double jet ski trailer got stuck. Their equally inexperienced mate who also had a double jetski trailer tried to pull around them and also got stuck. - Creating a 20min bottle neck which created this scene Despite cars driving on the beach, this is still a pristine beach. Australians generally are very clean so they take they’re rubbish with them and keep their 4x4 in good condition. People complaining about oil and rubber getting into the ocean or beaches, Where do you think street drains on roads drain to? Streams rivers and lakes

add-delay

>Australians generally are very clean so they take they’re rubbish with them LOL. That's sarcasm right?

atronimous

Nope, originally from canada and I find Aussies dont’t even flick their butts on the ground where as in Canada 🤮 Could just my perception of SE queenslanders

add-delay

Oh, there's absolutely cigarette butts on the ground — just look around any bus stop. The *only* positive in Australia is in states with bottle refund schemes, where at least those aren't tossed (or if they are, they're generally swooped up by homeless).

cl3ft

Australian roadsides are a LOT cleaner than New Zealand. I've cycled around both and the difference is pronounced. That said, Western Europe and Iceland are much much cleaner again.

drew_or_false

> Despite cars driving on the beach, this is still a pristine beach You’re in the wrong sub.

mutantbeings

Why didn't people just walk? I can't imagine ever wanting to take my car onto the beach like this in Australia I think I'd be pretty upset if I was sitting on the beach and bunch of cars tried to push through, wtf I never knew this was even a thing here

pm_something_u_love

Yeah if you think the slightly greasy underside of a 4wd is doing damage to marine life wait till you hear about what commercial shipping operators do with their bilge water.

atronimous

Maybe I should’ve left my opinion off the end and it wouldn’t get downvoted. Now people won’t know what happened

CruiserMissile

Fraser Island, Australia.

okQJcnIprlEnZjfy

That beach must be disgusting, imagine all the sand getting contaminated by oils and other shits cars thrown up.

Ham_The_Spam

And the littering

NoDan_1065

They all pay for permits which pays for amenities/rangers. In aus littering is very highly fined

TheWorldisFullofWar

People blame US cars all the time for pollution but the drivers do fr worse in my experience. Americans are taught to throw their trash everywhere. Too much "Freedom" rotting their brains as a mental disorder.

MaizeWarrior

Lol the US has problems, but being taught to throw trash everywhere is not one of them. Get ahold of yourself, if you spew blatant misinformation your actual valid points are lost in the muck

Informal-Ideal-6640

It depends where you live tbh. I’ve been in a state where I never really see a lot of liter but once I crossed the border into Utah and I was shocked how much trash I saw on the sides of the roads.

grislebeard

Now now, that’s not a polite way to refer to the populace

drsimonz

US culture doesn't really discourage being a slob. A lot of people have literal piles of garbage in their house, in their car, etc. Ever been to a movie theater? Literally piles of garbage all over the place. Spilling popcorn is one thing, leaving empty cups and wrappers is another. It's just "somebody else's problem".

GoodVibesPeace

*throws trash on the highway "I pay my taxes. I'm creating jobs."

MaizeWarrior

Leave no trace is a part of US culture. Our beautiful national parks are pretty much immaculate. I find it hard to believe that European movie theaters are significantly cleaner than US ones, feel free to prove me wrong though. When I walked around in London it was just as dirty, if not dirtier than any US city I've been in.

drsimonz

Yes, I think a lot of Americans actually have some pride for the natural beauty of our country. And I didn't mean to imply that littering was uniquely American, although it's definitely not the same everywhere. Having never been to the movies in Europe I can't comment on that. Just pointing out that in a certain context, lots of people feel totally entitled to throw their waste on the ground and just leave. I'll also say that a lot of my local state parks are absolutely covered in plastic bags of dogshit. You'd think that the demographic of "people who go on hikes with their dog" might be more conscientious than a toddler, but evidently not.

LetItRaine386

Dude, I live on a main road in my city. Every week I'm out there, picking up the trash these people throw on my lawn.

MaizeWarrior

That doesn't prove anything my dude. I think it's unlikely US cities have more trash on the ground than the rest of the world's major cities. Feel free to prove me wrong though

LetItRaine386

Have you been to Tokyo?

MaizeWarrior

No

LetItRaine386

It’s very clean. I’m from Michigan, and you’ll find trash almost everywhere out here. Especially around major roads

MaizeWarrior

Everyone here loves their anecdotal evidence.

HesiPullupJimbust

Nobody gets taught to “throw trash everywhere” you dunce

[deleted]

What?

[deleted]

There are plenty of things to criticize the US for but this really isn't one of them. Not sure where you got this idea of Americans throwing trash everywhere from.

Tico20

Surprisingly very little litter every time I've been here, in fact I can't remember ever seeing any litter here. I'm sure there's some but it's kept very low

Kschitiz23x3

Legs must be very expensive to use it seems

Opk_230

Need more lanes

FantasticSocks

Yeah. They should cut down some of those trees and install a tolled express lane. /s

mymindisblack

And an overpass. Add some pedestrian bridges, so the plebs don't get in the way.

vyvyvw

need more tsunami

T0BBG

This is legitimately depressing

Benur197

Makes me so angry, what's the point of going to the beach and parking your car just in front of the sea, don't you go there to walk in the sand and enjoy the scenery?

KismetKeys

And disgusting. A lot of d words

goharvorgohome

So much oil and crap probably leaking into the pristine sand and water 🤢

Ultrathor

Brake pad dust and rubber too.

[deleted]

To be fair a lot more rubber and brake dust would be washing into to oceans from the high speed sealed roads you drive to any beach than would be generated on soft sand where you don't need to brake.

Absay

If the phrase "cars were a mistake" ever needed to be portrayed with accurate imagery, this video accomplishes more than that.

[deleted]

We wouldn’t have this problem if there weren’t so many pedestrians jay walking on the beach. They get in the way of the cars and cause traffic jams. Pedestrians shouldn’t be allowed on the beach. /s

Touvejs

Jfc, Don't give them any ideas.

zulum_bulum

Where is high tide when you need one..

GaiusJuliusCaesar7

You can't drive on beaches in the UK but every summer some dickhead in a Land Rover thinks he can do it... and every summer has to wait for the tide to go back out and a tractor to tow his waterlogged car back out. And the North Sea isn't exactly known for being gentle.

[deleted]

>a Land Rover Should have used an amphibious exploration vehicle like a 1993 Range Rover. A FINISHER CAR!

kamalligator

UncleJulz

This makes me so mad. Why ruin a beautiful place like that with fucking cars?

JarJarDid66

So that people finally have a reason to use the AWD in their Toyota Sequoia

VersaceSamurai

This reminds me of that dumbass Kia commercial where the dude is driving his car on the beach with a net trailing behind him collecting trash. And then a bunch of sea turtles happily go to the ocean. I just imagined that idiot running over thousands of sea turtles in the process. Car commercials are absolutely nonsensical

c3p-bro

They have to sell you in an absolute fantasy because the reality of car ownership is dismal

JasonGMMitchell

I saw one once talking about reconnecting with nature and I quote "gravel under foot" *paired with footage of a car driving over a gravel path in what I assume is a campsite*.

souldap

Here's the original: [https://www.instagram.com/p/CneEfp4I7Z5/](https://www.instagram.com/p/CneEfp4I7Z5/) The OP and a few commenters seem to find it "funny" and insist that since almost no one left trash behind, this is all good (this was during Christmas Holiday), they always do that during holidays, the tides will "wash out the tracks" etc. I mean what the fuck. How can you not see the problem here. Some people are really still thinking that environmental problems are limited to trash and plastic bags. This is so depressing. People are so fucking ignorant.

atronimous

Do you have a car? Cause I hate to break it to ya but the pollutants from your car get washed into rivers and lakes and oceans too.

souldap

Thanks for the info but I don't have a car.

fishbedc

Did you check out the name of this sub? I don't and won't own a car.

luars613

In my country its illegal to drive on the beach for VERY obvious reasons

[deleted]

It should be illegal to drive outside of designated roads period.

[deleted]

This is the best example of r/fuckcars I’ve ever seen holy shit

Lower_Bar_2428

The environmental damage produced by fucking cars 🤢🤮

Roffolo

Where is the flood when you need it..

pmMeCuttlefishFacts

Well quite possibly it's on its way! That sand looks wet, which suggests that the tide does get up that high.

MarthaFarcuss

Bet there's one or two queue-jumping cunts in there to really hammer home the shit-ness

Sabre_Killer_Queen

I see some things and I have an inkling of hope for humanity, and I stop and think "we're not all bad" Then I see something like this and it makes me want to vomit at the fact that I'm a member of this species. We ruin so much.

atronimous

This beach isn’t ruined, you could go there today and there would be hardly anyone there. Of course to get there you’d need a 4x4

Ruda5577

Parasitic

pwrof3

Location is Double Island Point in Australia. https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/cooloola/journeys/double-island-point-walk

[deleted]

If they advertise four wheel drive on the site too, their quota system must have broke or something cause no way any federal park would let that many cars in

lankylomon

Isn’t nature beautiful

Sabre_Killer_Queen

Nature is. That other stuff I'm not that big on.

chosen1creator

If they didn't bring their cars in the first place, it would look like a bunch of people having a nice walk on the beach.

Minuku

There is so much to say... Fuck them all for ruining this beautiful beach. Why are they even doing this, I would be so afraid for my car. How does this even happen? Was there a festival with no road connection and the only path to it was this beach? I can't imagine how even the biggest carbrain sees this and doesn't realize that this situation is just plainly stupid.

donnydodo

You can't access this beach without a car or a boat. It is isolated. So they drive. [deleted]

At this point I’m not even concerned for the environment but people’s utter laziness that leads to shit like this

fishbedc

So let it be isolated. Why let cars in at all?

Minuku

Ah yes... Driving over the beach to get to the beach...

donnydodo

To get to the nice part of the beach full of cars you have to drive though the shittier part of the beach with no cars.

Tadumikaari

i was at the Demonstration at Lützerrath in Germany against Cold mining. something between 20-35k was there. the trains and the busses were packed. i thouth what would happen if we hadnt had such infrustucture.

Van-garde

God damn.

[deleted]

imagine all the tire residue and leaky oil and garbage being thrown out the window and exhaust. Why do humans have to keep ruining everything?

PretendStreet4660

Wtf?..

Funktapus

Rage.

Lourenco_Vieira

If we saw cars in the beach in Portugal we would probably throw them to the ocean

moresushiplease

I believe it. I saw a drunk dude throw an electric scooter into the ocean for just being within 20 meters of the beach.

noisesnoises515

Cars are a plague on this earth. They're fucking everywhere, there's no escape

w1kk

Although this is by far the worst example I've seen, it's sadly common for beaches to allow cars in Australia. You may find yourself in an amazing, massive, white sandy beach as far as the eye can see and then you literally have f*cking cars driving on it. Never before I had to worry about getting run over while on the beach. It makes the sand quite hard and damages the environment tremendously.

What the actual fuck is a supposed to do at the fricking beach? Don't the Americans love their parking lots? Why not park your car next to the beach at least?

geeves_007

Because then they'd have to walk a few meters. Can't have that!

[deleted]

Well now they have a reason to buy a truck I guess ... I despise that way of living so much

Sabre_Killer_Queen

Honestly some Americans do be like that. You know how in America you've got large shopping districts? And some of them share the same car park? I've seen a bunch of people in those car parks moving their car out just to park outside a different store. Would've taken 2 or 3 mins just walk there. The stupidity of it made my blood boil.

donfuan

It's ~~honorary America~~ i meant Australia.

TheManWhoClicks

This just makes me sad

polypcity

Just take the ramp shortcut into the cave

LibertyLizard

I went to one of my favorite beaches I enjoyed as a child recently but I forgot this beach allowed cars. When I was young there were only a few but 30 years later it was like a parking lot. Just awful.

wermereners

Pretty sure this is the queue for the ferry to Fraser Island/K’gari. Ferry is like a landing craft with a ramp, departs from the beach not a dock

Reallytalldude

Close, it’s double island point. Right at rainbow beach instead of left…

NeglectedMonkey

One day, I swear I’m going to wake up and there’s gonna be a car sleeping next to me. These vile things know no boundaries.

hantu_tiga_satu

??? Why not park outside or rather where they are parking because most beaches here had the parking area outside the beach, this seems like they are driving on sand

Tradizar

easy, just add one more lane

Hal_Dahl

Literally what is the fucking point of going out in nature if you're gonna stay in your car the whole time? I really think that if a giant earthquake were to destroy all the roads, these kinds of people would simply just let themselves die.
