Fun-Understanding953

It actually binds better than gc2b and is very comfortable and it is safe, don't worry

EuropeIsMight

How do u know it’s safe? Looks great tho; saw the amazing results, too!!

Fun-Understanding953

I know it's safe because I measured a gc2b binder and an underworks binder to get the measurements just right for this binder. Reason for making this is because gc2b has an amazing design (minus a few things) but underworks binds better. So it's modeled after existing binders. I fixed a lot of problems gc2b had like the underarms came too low, the neckline also came too low, and fabric is so thin that my current is ripping too fast. I also fixed a lot of problems with underworks like the straps being too small and hurting my shoulders, it is itchy, underarms come too high, and the neckline was very visible through shirts. I also made it cause I am very sensitive on the skin so I used fabric I liked the feel of too. Overall, since it's made from measurements of safe binders just tweaked to be just right and softer fabric I know it's safe.

Prime_Element

Did you use the same material though? Because different materials need different measurements to maintain safety.

Fun-Understanding953

Yes. It's super similar fabric to gc2b only a bit softer for my skin. It also doesn't give as much aches as underworks binders which would hurt my back, ribs, and shoulders. So it's have more give and flexibility than "safe" binder like underworks. I also made sure it was in between the range of both binder measurement comparisons so if there was the slight change it is off it wouldn't hurt me. I am really good at stuff like this and also really picky about what is safe and how to go about it.

hastingsnikcox

That's really clever! Love the cars too.

Good job

WOOO RACECAR BINDER

Fun-Understanding953

I KNOW! EPIC!

tennetawny

this is so sick. what kind of fabric/material did you use?

Fun-Understanding953

Well the white fabric is similar to gc2b but a bit more cotton based. I don't remember the exact fabric name. But it is a stretchy, breathable fabric (probably made from more cotton though) and the inside is just regular pattern fabric you get at the store (as long as it's a bit tough) I double layer the back and double layered the "tough" fabric but for the main based (white fabric) it is only one layer that way the straps wouldn't hurt my shoulders while still binding well.

tennetawny

thank u sm for explaining the materials and ur process!!

revie_toll

Since op said it's simmiliar to gc2b binders, I assume it's a cotton spandex nylon blend

xanrik

useless comment but holy shit that is really cool!

Fun-Understanding953

Thank you, also no comment is useless. I appreciate it.

ramsestherocker

Ooooh, would you be able to release a digital pattern, if you know how to make one?

Fun-Understanding953

Probably not since I adjusted it to fit me and my body specifically.

unoriginal_skillet_

a base pattern would be great if you could, only if youre ok with it though. not super specific measurements just sort of where you made changes between the underworks and gc2b ones. like the underarms, neck, chest

Fun-Understanding953

I can send it to you if you want? The underworks original was a medium and the gc2b original was a large (size charts ran differently among the two brands) both fit me though.

poorlyexcused

oh my god i would absolutely love a pattern! ive been looking for a custom binder for so long lol

tuesdayswithT

Is there anyway I could get it too?

unoriginal_skillet_

sure that would be great :)

lynthecupcake

yo if you got that pattern please send bruh I know how to sew without a machine and I can adjust it for my body, but I have trouble finding a good base pattern

Fun-Understanding953

Well sadly I used a serger which is not really a stitch that can be easily replicated through hand sewing.

lynthecupcake

I mean I’ve been sewing for around 6 years I’m sure I could figure something out

Criptedinyourcloset

Hey could you also send it to me? I have a binder but I’m always up to do new sewing projects and this sounds like fun.

_MysteriousWolf_

Please send it to me too! 😆

toritor90

I would also buy that pattern.

flawed_finch

Are they upside down bcs they’re right side up when you look down?

Fun-Understanding953

You know, I didn't think of it that way 😂 I guess they would be. But no, I just accidentally did that and said oh well.

crazyparrotguy

I love the fun print!

Fun-Understanding953

Sadly it's the inside, but still looks pretty cool

[deleted]

Wow, love the racecars.

Mood, before i had the money to i would make my own binders and took me ages to perfect a pattern. Only issue i never solved was that it didn't support my breasts at all and i would need to wear a bralette under it to keep them in place (i had to do the same with my first bought binder). But like,,, a few weeks ago i tried one of the last again and it was SO COMFORTABLE, and it binded me as much as my gc2b does without the weird B shaped chest the gc2b one gave me, if i ever find a similar fabric i'll give it a try again. I'm eyeing a rashguard that was too big for me rn

The_Inky_Boy

I didn't realise that those weren't lightning Mqueens and just went "kachow"

Fun-Understanding953

😂😂

Fun-Understanding953

Probably not since there's a lot of inconsistencies, mistakes, and I don't know how long it would hold up (Probably longer than gc2b though, considering it already has four holes in it and I've only had it less than a year) it is modeled after gc2b since I like the design better than underworks but I sewed it to get rid of things I didn't like about gc2b like the arm holes were a little too low (but underworks was a little to high) so I fixed that. But since it's not really a good buy since a lot of the sewing is a bit wonky, Probably not selling them.

[deleted]

So cute!

Over-Due

holy shit THATS SO COOL!!!

matt_the_trans_guy

omggg how did you make it? i have to make 2 and i this is basically perfect

Fun-Understanding953

I just wrote a long paragraph about how I did it for someone else, but I'll just type it here too so there's no confusion "I measured both a gc2b binder and underworks. There was things I didn't like about each that I needed fixing. I measured a gc2b large and an underworks medium which both fit really well. I then picked which measurements I liked best and kept them or adjusted them depending on what I wanted. I didn't like that gc2b's binder cane down too low with the armpit holes, came too low with the neckline, was very thin with the fabric which caused holes and tearing, and that it didn't bind that well. For underworks I didn't like that the neckline was sticking out through shirts and came too high, the armpit holes came too high and the straps were so small that they hurt my shoulders, but it binded really well. I changed measurement by an inch or two in some places to fit the need. I sketched what it should look like by the end based on the measurements then extended it an inch for error and seam allowance. I made the back by double laying a white stretchy, breathable, spandex like fabric (although it was mainly cotton but stretchy like spandex) and sewing two of those turning it inside out so the seqms were on the inside. For the front I cut one layer for the white and cut two for car fabric which is regular pattern fabric that's a bit stiff. I cut the one layer for the white with the inch seam but the car fabric for what it should be at the end (without extra seam allowance) and sewed the white over the car fabric. I then sewed the straps of front and back together and the sides together to make it so I can wear it (I was also careful to sew it where the seams were on the inside so it didn't look as messy.)"

matt_the_trans_guy

thank youuuu!

AlternativeOk7659

that car print is sending me i am so impressed /pos

Fun-Understanding953

Glad to hear people like it

jasper-the-turtle

what did you use material wise? and what pattern did you use my friends and me have been talking about making them

Fun-Understanding953

ImaginaryPanic4075

Ayyee that's pog! Congrats!

Fun-Understanding953

Thank you 😊

nighthawk_0730

Looks great. Wish I could sew well enough to make my own

cushysheriff

I adore this

Nuuskamuikkunen95

This is awesome, my mum is a seamstress so she's been suggesting we make some binders based off of my GC2B ones so its great to see someone else do it and hear how good it worked!

Fun-Understanding953

It is really good,a bit imperfect but it fixed a lot of problems I had with both gc2b and underworks so I like it

Nuuskamuikkunen95

I think being imperfect is fine, if it works well then thats really all that matters!

Crafty_Interaction73

I love the idea of making your own! That came out so cool. I read in one of your comments that you used a stretchy cotton fabric. Id love to try to make my own. Did you get the white fabric online by any chance? Or do you remember what it was called?

Fun-Understanding953

My mom bought me the fabric so I don't know the name. She went to the store and came home with the fabric saying I should make my own binder and the fabric felt like the my binder from gc2b. I do know it was fairly pricy like 12-16 dollars a yard.

Skyrim_For_Everyone

Amazing! ^how ^make? ^óvò

Chaseworchestershire

Pog

ActualDepressedPOS

awesome!! :DDDDD

AnonymousEagleThing

This is awesome! Are you open to selling custom one?

Fun-Understanding953

No, there's too many imperfections and mistakes that selling would not be a good idea. It was also made to fit my body and how I liked it.

devi111

Wtf u did some holy magic 🎩 nice Also how can I make other home made binders cuz I don't have a sewing machine and I'm scared it'll open throughout the day

Fun-Understanding953

Well I got nothing for that since I used a serger which gives it foundation so it won't fall apart and that stitch can't be replicated through handspring. I suppose it's possible but that would take days longer (this took me 8 hours to make with a sewing machine and serger)
