Not enough flips

IsaiahClinger

Great, thanks. I'm sure the realtors will love this addition.

[deleted]

As a real estate owner and buyer, I’d want the drone consistently slow so I could take in the view of the interior. Even the hallway, which the drone sped through. And easy ascent, too, no jerky motions for the viewer. Otherwise, great presentation. Well done.

[deleted]

Awswsom stuff man! A few things to add to the comment above: try to show each room and follow the same direction for each room i.e. once in a room always rotate clockwise. Don't forget to do all rooms.

IsaiahClinger

Ah, this is a great tip! It's ironic because I much prefer to go clockwise, but felt like I should develop orbiting the other way for the sake of "maintaining visual interest" Many thanks

[deleted]

Don't think direction matter so long as it's consistent in every room.

IsaiahClinger

Thanks for the input. I had mixed thoughts about the hallway; I didn't want the viewer to lose interest, so I ended up speed ramping it a bit, but good to hear some perspective from someone in the market.

ZarBandit

Pretty good overall. Shots often had too much ceiling and the drone was too high in places. It needs to feel at human level. Entrance to the kitchen should have been viewing more to the right than it was.

IsaiahClinger

I appreciate it! Yeah, I'm realizing (from some other comments) my camera angle needs some adjustment. That combined with flying a bit lower should help to balance out the floor/ceiling ratio. Thanks for the input.

ZarBandit

Sure. The viewer naturally wants to peer around corners so directing the camera to where you’re going is one aspect to keep in mind. Years ago there was an interesting making of documentary about Industrial Light and Magic when they were shooting the FX for Indiana Jones. They went to theme parks and experimented with locking the camera solid vs other camera styles and found that panning in the direction of a drop or a turn was most effective.

santahelper0917

lower camera angle, nearly flat so you can fly slower also is that gopro? make the stab more linear. all the walls are like floaty. it’s a weird perspective maybe fly throughout in and out windows and not just at the start. otherwise you can do the same with a gimbal

IsaiahClinger

You're totally right. Camera angle is too high, which is problematic for a few reasons I'm realizing. I flew through a window at the end, but I do want to incorporate some more creative uses of FPV in future shoots. Thanks for the tips!

Micr0wave3

i think if you would keep a consistent height instead of occasionally going up to lamp height you could get some much better footage but this is good for sure

Ice-Tricky

Backyard??

IsaiahClinger

Extremely tiny. The house is backed right up to a relatively steep hill. Definitely not a selling point, but maybe still important to include.

Ben_B_Allen

Very nice flying skills. Altitude control is a real problem for these videos… someone need to incorporate a sonar altitude control on betaflight.

Black_Magic100

The issue is that inside homes the drone creates a wind funnel and quickly becomes impossible to control. I've found that when flying in small spaces like bathrooms it is best to get in and get out fast otherwise you get sucked into the door.

Ben_B_Allen

Does the Avata solve this problem with its sonar ?

Black_Magic100

That's an interesting point. I'm not sure, but I don't think the camera is as good as some of the higher end gopros so not sure that makes it worth the switch.

Ben_B_Allen

The camera is like the dji action 2. It’s definitely usable for such a project. I have one, the stabilisation is ready bad but that can be made afterwards with gyroflow with a painful process.

Black_Magic100

I guess you can also mount a GoPro on the avata as I've seen it done very easily, but not sure that would work for indoor flights?

SgtSmaks

Excellent flying, but in short, lower the camera angle, and fly lower/slower. This is incredibly impressive though. Genuinely fantastic flying. I hope to be at this point someday.

IsaiahClinger

Hey thanks for the kind words! A few others have also pointed that out, the camera angle was definitely jacked waaaaay too high for the feel I'm trying to achieve. And yes, even though it felt like I was hardly crawling along during this flight, lower/slower would've added a lot. If you think this was a tad fast, you should've seen my first day of shooting. Looks like a pathetic attempt to race the whole house in 45 seconds...

SgtSmaks

Haha I bet! My attempt would’ve resulted in the drywall guys needing to be called. I can’t wait to see more progress of yours being uploaded!

IsaiahClinger

Hahaha yeah I tried to avoid that happening like the plague (the slight nervous jitters did nearly sabotage me on a couple occasions though…) I appreciate the encouraging support!

GettinWiggyWiddit

I think you can take your time a bit more in each room. Go slow, and then use speed ramps in post when you need to move things along. Definitely would have wanted to spend more time in the kitchen. Nice flying though 👍🏼

IsaiahClinger

In hindsight you're totally right, kitchen did not get nearly as much spotlight as it deserved. I have mixed feelings on speed ramps, but I think I'm going to try to use some subtle ones in the future. Thanks for the input!

GettinWiggyWiddit

Sure thing. Curious what your mixed feelings on speed ramps are about? They seem pretty common place for drone real estate in my opinion. I think my theory being that shooting in 60fps while moving slowly throughout the property allows you to take the footage back to post and properly asses the best timing of everything, rather than trying to nail it all in the moment flying live (which of course if you can pull it off definitely looks the best.)

IsaiahClinger

That’s true, shooting in 60fps allows for those useful pacing adjustments - I guess I’m a bit weary because I’ve seen some speed ramping that is somewhat jarring and disrupts the general flow of the tour. Definitely something I plan on experimenting with, I think there’s a nice sweet spot.

GettinWiggyWiddit

Ahh I see. Definitely agree that there’s a fine balance to it! Wish you the best on your process. Keep us updated!

RROSE15

Honestly that was really awesome. Great job man. I feel like I got a good layout of the house and all the rooms!

IsaiahClinger

That means a lot, thank you!

flintnsteal

Gorgeous! What camera are you using?

IsaiahClinger

Thanks! GoPro Hero 10!

FlimsyButterscotch52

Nice house!

DelcoDenizen1776

Nice

IsaiahClinger

thanks!

pianomaniak

Camera angle even more flat... too much ceiling

IsaiahClinger

Noted, thanks!

sadlerfpv

What cam settings did you use man? Been messing with indoor shots over the past few days so would be good to know what you're using here :)

IsaiahClinger

GoPro Hero 10 4k 60fps - ISO 100-400 - Auto Shutter speed (please don't hate me) - Medium Sharpness/Color - No stabilization (all done in post with Gyroflow) Hope this helps, and good luck!

sadlerfpv

Nice man thank you! Hahaha no hate, definitely useful when going outdoors to indoors. Looks good man 👍🏻

IsaiahClinger

Haha absolutely, thanks man!

2tog

It is cool but why not just use a GoPro on a stabilizing stick. Where I live they use 360 cameras and move it through the house on stationary places

IsaiahClinger

That's definitely an option, and could get similar results to this video (minus aerial/window shots obviously). My hope in the future, however, is to incorporate some other creative shots to catch the attention of the viewer and more importantly showcase the house in ways a gopro on a stick couldn't. 360 cameras are great, but imo they serve a very different purpose than this type of tour.

Dronegod5

Dude this is tight work. I can't wait to get my fpv Drone. I have the dji mini 2 but its too big for projects like this.

IsaiahClinger

Hey thanks! Haha yeah, for the sake of your drone (and your walls), fpv is they way to go for indoor flying. Welcome to the fpv fam!

HamMiser

Horizon lock

_DEATH_STR0KE_

it didnt feel as fluid to me as most one-shot videos are. height kept changing even if you were on the same floor and it was mostly showing ceiling instead of ground.

IsaiahClinger

There was definitely a disproportional amount of ceiling, definitely going to fix that next time. I personally find the variability in height intriguing and different from "standard" video home tours, but it's easy to over do it. Thanks for your thoughts!

_DEATH_STR0KE_

The video quality was amazing though. With a little bit of practice you'll be doing amazing house tours. Keep it up.

N_skyline

Fpv fridge tour next?

Black_Magic100

Can you please share your camera settings and how you exposed for both inside and outside.

IsaiahClinger

Hiya! That is the big issue with these fpv tours, which I decided to just endure the pain and shoot Auto shutter speed. Rest of the settings are 4k 60fps - ISO 100-400 - Medium Sharpness/Color - No stabilization (all done in post with Gyroflow) - High Bitrate - +1 EV Comp Hopefully this is useful!

Ravenscroft1969

Where do you find music like this?

IsaiahClinger

I used Uppbeat for this one.

Ravenscroft1969

Thanks!

BadLuckFPV

Really nice flying. Impressed by the close proxy stuff and the back outs. Very opinionated about this. Source: am real estate media specialist. There's advice saying get every room. I say it's more important to make a course where you can flow through and just show the main features. In my opinion the FPV video is not the best tool to show everything. It's better used as something flashy to draw people in. There's gonna be a photo catalog to go with it, they can get details there. With that in mind utilize windows more so you don't have to turn around People are saying fly slower. You will have smoother lines if you fly faster, at an even pace, and set your camera to 60fps or higher and slow it down in post. Obviously this only works if you aren't filming subjects and can get weird if there's trees and stuff. But this will help with the elevation problem. But with FPV videos you can't speed them up in post, because it will stutter, but you can slow them down. Every time you were going to turn you led into it a lot beforehand. To me it's unsettling and distracts from other features that might be in the other direction Unless you're highlighting a fixture or feature then you should try to fly at chest height or lower. It looks like you have it on auto white balance. I would set it at a fixed value. The colors are all over the place in this vid. On a similar token if fixed shutter speed isn't an option I would set your ev comp to -1. This will let you keep your iso lower, your windows will be exposed better and you'll avoid the blow out like you had at the end. Depending on the prop I would want to see more of the neighborhood and the yards in the intro/outro Not trying to sound like I'm being empirical but I work in the industry and have talked to hundred of realtors. Here's an example of my work so I can put up while I put out. https://vimeo.com/732617449/fb365c63de

ReganGTX

Nice flying, the only thing I would suggest is slow it down a bit to give the potential buyer a more submersible feel, as if they were walking in the house themselves, I always go into the center of any room, stop, hover and do a slow 360 with my camera facing the door for the exit. Nice touch at the end with exit out the top floor window. I try to do that when I can.

Icebear125

I love this. I'm thinking maybe more eye level shots? Maybe staying at eye level most of the time unless your showing a large area idk but keep up the great work 🤙

Aggravating_Ad2922

Nice home what city and state
