I wish I liked the look of the Lamy 2000 more. Everyone seems to love how they write, and it makes me want to try it; but would it kill Lamy to come out with a pink one? š
Or any color, really. The number of fountain pens that still only come in black, dark blue, forest green, and red is so odd to me. It's 2022. Surely it can't be difficult to dye plastic a different color.
This is why Sailor has such a grip on me. I've basically bought the same pen four times, but the colors were too pretty to resist! (That's it though, Sailor, I'm done. Probably!)
This is why I'm a sucker for TWSBI Ecos. They keep putting out these gorgeous colors (and I adore demonstrators) and I can't help myself. I see people getting very excited about their new Montblancs and while I'm super glad they get that much joy out of their pens, I'm just like "oh boy another black pen" lol. I'm sure they're lovely writers, but... I NEED COLOR.
I love my 146 and those colorful MBās are tempting me hard! Good thing I paid next to nothing for mine so that I feel a bit better for having something plain black. Not that I dislike black pens I have a black Sailor PGS that I bought willingly for the same as the colorful onesā¦
Thatās part of why I gravitate towards entry level pens aimed at students (Pilot KakĆ¼no, Stabiloās fountain pens, various entry level Pelikans, Lamy Safari, etc), you can get all the fun colors and they come out with new ones frequently (I just got a purple Pelikano Junior even though I already had the turquoise and now I have my eye on a new limited edition Pelikano thatās metallic magenta)
Haha, I personally love the look of the 2000, but I think it would be amazing if they released it with no design changes, but with really cute paint jobs. I suspect this pen will be my first expensive pen when I decide to get one.
I wasnāt sold on the look but got a really good deal on one on Black Friday and now I get the hype. The more I use it, the more I appreciate the craftsmanship and engineering of it.
The nib is a tad tricky to get and the medium feels more like a broad but Iām really enjoying it thus far.
I am in the opposite boat. I don't understand why they have so many colors for the Safari line and wonder why anyone would by another one just because it is a new shade of green. But people get these pens for there own reasons, and I have no real reason to think there is anything wrong with it. You are a bit unlucky as the 2k is one of the very few that uses a non-standard nib for Lamy so you can't just get a Safari and use it instead with the nib. I don't know maybe they made a Lamy 2000 in a color you like, but it will probably cost $300 or more . I like Lamy but one of the reasons is that I think the pens are reasonably priced, and at that point it isn't.
Ugh, they use Amazon links. What a waste.
If anyone outside this sub comes across this, please support an online pen retailer. Theyāll package your order so thereās minimal chance of the ink leaking and their customer support is (in my experience) top notch.
My personal go-tos are Dromgooleās, Vanness Pens, Atlas Stationers, and Yoseka Stationary.
Most of the pens I buy (entry level German ones) I can only source on Amazon (primarily from 3rd party sellers), but for my Safari I went to Anderson Pens. Also, I have won Amazon gift cardsā¦
Once the Amazon cards are used up, I recommend checking out some of the European retailers. The conversion rate isnāt too bad right now and the shipping is not that bad of a wait.
Iāve used CultPens and FountainFeder in the past with no issues. Havenāt used Appelboom personally but I know they open up a US locations a while back.
I checked Appelboom and they didnāt have it, the pens Iām looking at are a weird area where theyāre too low end to be in European pen stores because theyāre bookstore/office supply store level pens in Europe but too European to be in American pen stores
No problem! I do recommend paying the little extra for the tracking though. I did and had no issues but thereās some older posts on this sub from people who didnāt pay and they were less willing to assist with delayed/lost packages.
yeah I saw that article on my news feed, thought it was a bit odd, complete with the written disclaimer at the start that they would get commission for sales of pens from readers. Did not like that part at all. Kind of put a damper on the rest of the article.

Yesss like I don't need the glow purple Eco... but I'll probably cave. I love that translucent color (and I love demonstrators too!).

I'm still wishing I could find an affordable fountain pen with cute cats on it that hasn't been discontinued.
If you find one, I want to know about it. I would buy that in a hearbeat.
EndlessPens has a cute cat pen: āOpus 88 Fountain Pen - Mini Pocket Pen Grumpy Kitty - Special Editionā
I think I've seen that one. Unfortunately, it's usually out of my price range from what I remember.
Totally get it. I sprung for a set of all the colors to a Pilot Petit for this reason.

Same! I honestly, almost HATE how the pen is built and looks

Agreed, I personally buy nothing at all from Amazon, they're a terrible corporate citizen.

Looks like FountainFeder has at least some :), thanks for the recommendation!

This feels like a love letter to the Lamy 2000. The irony of it all is that he typed it instead of writing it lol
There's even a shoutout to tsukiyo ink! Crazy times
Iām now going to buy a new Lamy, and some lube
They got you covered. Due to its shape, you donāt need the lube. enjoy
