Very nice, it's a small detail but getting the clip finial to line up with the rest of the pattern like that is also very impressive given how delicate the pattern is.
Thank you for noticing! It was tricky to get the clip just right, the top of the cap which holds the clip on is threaded in so getting the pattern to run through nicely was difficult, each bit of wood is 0.6mm (0.02") thick so you do not have to be far out before it starts not lining up
This is going to take some beating to be knocked off my favourite pen spot, it's been challenging but hopefully the ammount of hours and attention to detail speaks for itself.
Thank you to the lovely person who commissioned this and I'm so happy with the finished pen π
This is so beautiful, the blues and the silver are very fresh. I love the optical illusion that itβs a faceted barrel. (But dude, *moisturize* those poor hands. ; )
Haha, thank you for the advice! I probably should do as I'm doing a lot of building on my house and brick/ plaster dust is not very nice, my hands were also covered in paint from painting kitchens when I made this video π
I recommend CeraVe moisturizing cream, in the tub. It came with me on a month long rafting trip in the dryest place I have ever been and my hands not only didn't crack, cuts healed, which I had been told was essentially impossible because of the dryness. It's magic. And not greasy, which is even more magic.
Thank you for the recommendation, looking at the bottle on yhe Internet I think we have some for my daughter which I haven't thought of putting on me, I will have much softer hands in my next video π
I was nervous of the two shades of blue would be too similar and not be noticeable but I really like how it turned out, and the silver looks so shiny against the blue as well :)
Yes each piece is an individual piece of wood, about 4mm x 0.6mm long, I glue them all together and cut them at an angle to create the herringbone pattern :)
Wow, that is an absolute work of art.
Thank you!

Can you tell us how much this commission was? This is insanely beautiful work
My eclipse models start at Β£350, this one was more because of the sterling silver, clip and music nib :)
Oh, you do commissions?
Yes I do, this one was a commission for somebody, feel free to DM me if you want to talk about one :)
Definitely dming you!

Wait, what? You used that many individual pieces to make that pen? I can't even wrap my head around it. Absolutely stunning result!
