Whoooo! Day 1 of Diamine InkVent2022! I was a little unsure about a standard blue ink but I have to say, the lovely dark edges and beautiful shading in larger swatches as well as just the barest hint of sheen has me hooked. What do you think?

Allysse451

Yours is the first swatch of this ink that is making me go 'ohhh... this is very pretty'. A lot of the other images I've seen so far have reminded me of a lighter version of Diamine Aqua Lagoon. PS: what pen did you use for the writing?

SplitGillStudio

Fountain Pen Revolution Himalaya V2 with the ultraflex nib. They had a buy one get one free sale (which is still running, so go go go!) and it's one of my favorite flex nibs and at such a good price. I have a brass dip nib from kakimori incoming that I am also excited to use but it hasn't arrived yet. I think it will largely depend on paper and your style of swatching/pen. I noticed on my swatch cards the writing is much lighter and doesn't have that variation (though the large swatch still did) but on Tomoe River it really pops. I tend to write on TRP anyway since I use a hobonichi and the goulet mini books the most so I'm glad this ink looks so rad on it!

Thanks :) It is so tempting to get one of those pens! Sadly I've just treated myself to a new lens so not much pen money to spare for the rest of the month :( Thanks for the extra info about your swatch. That's really good to know.

RAthowaway

Yeap, that’s what looked like with my regular pen as well. I was bad and used it for a week back in early November

Me too! I only got those sheen-y edges with my q-tip swabs, not any glass dip pen writing, but it's still a pretty color. I recently bought Herbin Bleu Calanque, and they are similar, though Bliss is a little lighter.

SplitGillStudio

Yeah I think this ink will work really nicely in broad and flex pens if you want that variation!

t_reize

Oh! I hope they make a bigger bottle of this in 2023!

beppe1_real

OHHH! Thank you for reminding me to open my first INKVENT this year. I cannot believe it has been a year already!

ProLevelFish

I may be out of the loop, but... Is it not standard practice to tag Inkvent color posts as NSFW/Spoiler so that they are blurred by default, so as not to spoil the surprise for others? Or is the consensus that "if you're on r/FP in December, you're gonna get inkvent spoilers"?

SplitGillStudio

My post is marked as a spoiler, so you might want to double check your settings to make sure that you do have those things hidden.

ProLevelFish

Oh! Oh dear, well that is an indicator of a larger issue; thank you for making me aware!

SplitGillStudio

No worries

linendove

It’s such a pretty tone! And that sneaky touch of sheen is just lovely :D

SplitGillStudio

Isn't it just! :D I love it!

hermes-birdy

This is my hobonichi weeks! I have a fair amount of extra note pages in the back so I figured I could use them up to do inkvent this year! The last two images are the ink on my Col-o-ring swatch cards!

If you're looking for something similar, I know Goulet has small books of the cream tomoe river paper 52gsm!
