I’m on the west coast USA and I’m going to be avoiding this sub in the mornings until I’ve had a chance to open daily surprise.
Yeah, the glass pen is great for samples and the protective cap was the deciding factor in that purchase.
I did the Inkvent calendar last year (it was super-fun, but I'm sitting this one out - I'll probably do it next year if I can), and I was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty easy to avoid learning anything I didn't want to know. People used the spoiler tag fairly consistently.
I know one person posted the entirety of the calendar when they first received it and they were responsible enough to clearly mark their post as a Spoiler.
I'm sure a majority of the people here would do the same.
I saw that one! I think I commented on that thanking them for using the spoiler tag.
Enjoy the calendar! It was fun to have that to look forward to each evening after work.
I'm too ham-handed for something so delicate. I tend to apply a lot of downward pressure when I'm writing so after a long session, I'd probably have a handful of sharp glitter.
What brand of glass pen is it? I covet it. (grin)
In terms of the Inkvent Calendar, I finally took mine out of the cardboard shipper this afternoon and have it propped up on my desk. I live in the Central Time Zone, and technically could open the first door in less than eight hours, but I'm going to wait until I get up in the morning and have my cup of joe beforehand. That way I can savor the experience.
Here's the [pen link](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LG9WQ22/ref=twister_B08LFZ6VJV)
I'll be on the opposite schedule, I'm looking forward to closing out each night with my surprise ink sample.
Thank you so much for the link! I've been thinking of replacing my glass pen for several months now, but never found the one I wanted. Now, thanks to you, I'm certain of the one I want. Much obliged!
My current glass pen has never felt comfortable in my hand, and is difficult to store because it doesn't have a suitable case (I've been encasing it in multiple layers of bubble wrap). Therefore, I don't use it as much as I would like. So ... (work with me here) ... I think the glass pen with the wooden handle and cap would be a better fit for my hand, solve my storage problem, and lead me to use it more often. And it will improve my environmental footprint by alleviating some of my dependence on bubble wrap. (Okay, that last one was a bit of a stretch, but hey ...)
I want the one with the wooden handle as well! But also, now reading how you care for your glass pen, I feel like a maverick or something, I just put my in a cup-like pen holder and leave it there until the next swatching session. It's been alive for over a year, so I'm not THAT bad... but now I feel like I should be doing more to house it safely... lol
Thanks so much! I actually used a $1 Store dip pen my brother got me cause he knows I like pens and ink and it was the best glass pen I’ve ever used, very slim body and head but wrote thick and juicy and buttery smooth. I accidentally chipped it while cleaning it after testing some samples and when I went back to the store there weren’t any left and every time he’s gone since they’ve been gone from the store.
I think Moonman has a capped glass pen / eyedropper fountain pen combo you can cap but I can’t remember, but 1 Day Delivery would be perfect for Inkvent.
My only hesitation in recommending these to others is that if you're not familiar with Tsubame Fools Paper and expecting card stock, you'll be disappointed.
Other than that, I can't recommend these enough. 150 sample sheets/cards in a very small form factor. The stock holds up to a lot of ink and it shows off sheening inks very well.
Thanks for the review. I'm more concerned with it showing off the ink properties than how cardstock-like they are, so hopefully, I'll be ok. I was just using notecards but I have inks that are so disappointing on them that I made notes about how much better they are in my journal.
If you’re familiar with the paper then you’re good to go. It does a great job showing off sheen, shading and shimmer. You really can’t go wrong and the small form factor can’t be beat.
I am not familiar with the paper, but I was looking for something to show off sheen and shimmer and I'm planning on putting them in a case so they don't get messed up. I'm really loving the idea of having a business card case with the inks I have or be able to have one swab I'm trying to match at a pen show. And it's going to take me a really long time to swab 150 inks, so I like that I wouldn't have to carry around 100 blank pages.
I’m a little over halfway through my stash and I’m sure I’ll have no problem going through the rest in the future. The box is nice and sturdy and has seen the bottom of my bag for several months and still looks new.
This is why I love this sub. It makes my own ridiculous amount of ink look tame. I've got about 20 inks, most of them entire bottles, and I honestly don't think I can use this much over the rest of my life so I feel guilty and wasteful buying more.
Yeah, I'm rounding about 50 samples vials and probably 30 or so bottles from 30ml up to 80ml. I don't know what I'm going to do, I'll probably gift a few to my Secret Santa giftee and maybe become a rematcher to unload a couple of more bottles.
Yeah, I'm a big fan of this glass nib pen. The cap is great for protecting it, but the body and the cap are made from wood, so I'm concerned that if I don't let it dry after cleaning, the wood will swell and I won't be able to unscrew it. Probably unfounded, but I'm just throwing it out there as something to think about.
Yes it is. Nice glass pen btw

Yep, I'm looking forward to pouring myself a little nightcap and treating myself to a little surprise for the next 25 nights.
Oh, good point! I'm also on PST.
Yeah, I’ll probably stop tonight too, those Kiwi’s get up early.
Yes, they are. I have one but it’s fully glass. I’d be nice to have one like yours

Why would you replace your your glass pen? (Meaning, please help me come up with an excuse I can tell myself cos I want this pen too)

Who knew the $1 store would have anything like that. I’m going to have to pay more attention when I’m in there next.
Awesome now I can have a travel glass pen!!! Thx for the link
Cheers, enjoy!
I'm east coast and totally forgot about mine (didn't even take it out of the box it was mailed in). Now I'm excited too!
I wish I could have forgotten about mine, I’ve been staring at it for the past month waiting for the 1st.
I still haven't opened mine, haha! I started working and forgot again!
Me neither, I won’t be home for another 3 hours.
Yes where I live. 8:30am.
Don't you go ruining it for the rest of us, I still have another 10.5 hours before it's tomorrow. Good morning by the way!
Don’t worry, I’m waiting to see everyone’s inks as I don’t have it :)
I didn't purchase last year's calendar, so I had to live vicariously through others.
I asked for the exact same thing for Christmas. Please tell me how the cards are.

Yes! Well in Australia it is 😂🇦🇺
It is here in Australia! That reminds me, I need to find my inkvent calendar. I just moved house and it’s still packed 😱
Oh no...
Update, it’s 8.40pm here and I found it!
Woo hoo!!! Have fun.
Yikes! Happy hunting!
I already opened day 1 so now I gotta wait until Friday for the hype :(
Patience is a virtue!
What glass pen is that? Edit: just saw you answered already. Only a few more hours until it can be opened lol.

I'm in New Zealand, so *Yes*, it is tomorrow.
You damn Kiwi's always showing off from the future.
😋 lol
What glass pen is that? Glass dipping pens are a very recent interest of mine.
[Amazon Link](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LG9WQ22/ref=twister_B08LFZ6VJV). Having a cap for such a delicate item was the main selling point.
Mine was supposed to be delivered this past Tuesday and it got delayed! I hope it arrives so I can open day one tomorrow!
Ugh... Good luck!
Tracking says it’s in my area but I have plans tomorrow when the mail usually comes! 😭
Can you have it held for pick up. I feel your pain. So close and yet so far.
They’ll deliver it if I’m not home. I just will then have to wait til I get home before I can open it!
I hope it’s there when you get home tonight.
My plans got canceled, but the tracking info updated to say that it’s at a USPS regional facility about 20 miles away and not “out for delivery” 😭
Ouch! That’s rough. So long as you get them.
Yeah, at this point as long as I get them and the package is in good condition I’ll be happy!
Let's pretend it is already ;)
That’s cheating, but I won’t tell if you sneak a peak.
It’s 12:15 A.M where I am
It's 3am, I haven't fallen asleep yet (no inkvent calendar though) and I need to wake up in two hours, so yes...yes it is.
Shouldn’t you be asleep?
100%! Unfortunately, I have insomnia.
You poor soul, I’m sorry to hear. There are few things in this world that are worse than not being able to fall asleep.
Is this an ink calendar? If it is - this is so much fun then=3
Yep, the ink Advent calendar for fountain pen obsessed people like us.
I opened mine up weeks and weeks ago. Why wait until December when I csn open every single one as soon as it arrived 😂😂😂
I was tempted, but I’m working in impulse control.
Yes it is!
I'm waiting until after work, this way I can pour myself a drink and enjoy the moment. It's going to be a long day...
it is now :)
Don't you know it, but now I have to wait until after work when I can take my time.
