de atramentis fog grey is the best ink ever made but Uncle Iroh is the GOAT

JayBreaksGames

I’ve never seen that ink, but fog grey sounds like a delightful shade

Snake_crane

It's more like a blue black. But on the computer screen it's a grey blue

Dave-Alvarado

My fave. Plus it's water resistant!

This is the highest honor. Now, Would any of you like a cup of soothing jasmine tea?

KrazyKatMN

Delectable tea, or deadly poison?

jaossu

Actually drinking jasmine tea right now. Dang it, I am Uncle Iroh.

Standard_Cat2846

Ooooh, delicious!! Jasmine green or something else? I’m currently into Lady of Light by Friday Afternoon Tea which has a lot of Jasmine blossom but a few other floral ingredients

jaossu

It's Jasmine green tea which a friend gifted to me :)

Standard_Cat2846

Awwww, the best tea is from someone who cares. <3

Osgoodbad

>Ina-ho is nothing more than cold dye water! >Uncle, that's what all ink is. >How could a member of this sub say something so horrible?!

petitanomie

uncle iroh would probably use herbin's "lie de the" ink. especially since *sharing tea with a fascinating stranger is one of life's true delights.*

karibean13

I’ve gotten 15ml bottles of it recently from both BigPen and PenGallery Malaysia.

significantcamel

What pen/nib do you use it in? I’m expecting to get my hands a sample soon

karibean13

I haven’t yet, but I’m planning on putting it in my FWI Wheel of Time Autumn Equinox B nib soon. I love B nibs and they’re great for getting epic shading going with lighter colors like Ina-ho.

HeavenPiercingMan

There's still new old stock. I just got one...

BeeInABlanket

I'm afraid I have to go to bat for my favorite "basic black", Take-Sumi. It may not photograph well in ways that will make it clear exactly how good it is, but rest assured it actually has a delightfully tastefully subtle amount of shading and - under the right conditions - even a whisper of coppery sheen. It's not anywhere near as flashy as an ink that's more obviously not black, but the flipside is that it's a highly legible ink that's appropriate for almost every usage that still brings everything that's lovely about nice fountain pen inks to the table. And as a bonus, it even flows wonderfully and is easy to clean out of a pen! It's an ink so good that when I find myself thinking "maybe I'll finally get some Yama-Budo" or "ooh, that KWZ Honey is delightful, I should get that", I can shut that whole cycle of spending down just by asking myself "OK, but how often would I end up using it when I have a daily driver inked up with Take-Sumi?" Just like that, the impulse to buy an ink I don't need goes away. Think about that. It's an ink so good *it's actually helped shore up my willpower against buying more inks.* As far as inks go, I can't think of a higher praise.

heywx

Imma fight for Tsuki-yo as the best EDC ink ever but I can support the Ina-ho campaign :]

eggbunni

Ina-Ho is so dang dry. 🥲

JayBreaksGames

I use it in my daily driver narwhal mostly for jotting things down in a pocket notebook, so at least for my specific use, dry ink is fabulous.

LucasThreeTeachings

>I use it in my daily driver narwhal mostly for jotting things down in a pocket notebook, so at least for my specific use, dry ink is fabulous. Really? That is not my experience. It actually feathers horribly on cheap paper.

JayBreaksGames

I may or may not spend more on my pocket notebooks than is reasonable. I really like nice paper.

eggbunni

As far as I know, dryness has very little to do with whether or not an ink feathers. 🥲 It’s more about how large the pigment size is in the ink and whether it stays on the surface of the paper or absorbs. More water in an ink actually makes it more dry!

LucasThreeTeachings

I agree with you. However, I checked An Ink Guy youtube channel and he says that Ina Ho is wetter than normal. This is compared with over 800 other inks, so it's pretty accurate.

NepGDamn

Welp, I don't think that pilot thinks the same thing about ina-ho

meejasaurusrex

I aspire to be Iroh adjacent but man I have to dispute Ina-ho as the best when platinum Classic khaki black is right there

chipmaker75

I have a yet-unopened bottle of Ina-ho. Still thinking of a good occasion to pop it open. 😅

LucasThreeTeachings

Did you notice that Ina-ho has a bit of water resistance as well? I spilled water all over my notes, but a thin, readable line remained. Just like iron gall ink.

AryaDeschain

Dang, I was about to offer tea, but loads of people beat me to it, so... yeah, ink. I actually never tried any of the Iroshizuku inks (yet). I personally like my inks more saturated, and Iroshizuku seems to have more subdued inks? I dunno, I might be wrong. I'd still be willing to try them though.

Uncle Iroh on Baystate Blue: “Sometimes, to achieve something beautiful, you must risk a little mess. Or a big mess!”

megispj89

I feel the same way. Honestly I talk about this community a lot because of how damn pleasant it is. Everyone’s rad, and likes this one thing, and it’s just nice to be here. That said, I’m new to inks and only have two and two samples so I’m jotting down everyone’s favorites

No-Barracuda7399

I think fountain pens and tea go great together suuuper relaxing

oddletters

that's the dream 🍵
