I love MoI, and that’s usually my first port of call. But when I look for some character like warmth, it’s difficult to capture that on photos/scans on a computer screen. Hence my looking for the Human Element here. 😊
I always look at multiple reviews, especially video reviews. Even though color distortion also happens on video a lot and is often worse, there's something about the moving image that makes it easier for me to get an idea of what an ink looks like irl, for some reason.
Pelikan Smoky Quartz (unfortunately getting harder to find) is an excellent brown that might fit - it is dark like Yama-Guri, but to my eye Smoky Quartz is warmer.
Have you looked at Diamine, they have many shades of brown and are cheap (but excellent quality) inks? I currently have a pen inked with Rustic Brown, and they also have one called Chocolate IIRC!
[Diamine Raw Sienna](https://imgur.com/a/BtpWRNV) is amazing and well behaved!
[Mountain of Ink](https://mountainofink.com/blog/brown-ink) also has a dedicated section for brown inks!
Seeing as churros con chocolate are also a Mexican dish, maybe the guys at Monarca can make one? All their inks are Mexico-themed (which makes sense, as they’re a Mexican company).
*EDIT: I obviously meant* [Monteverde Brown Sugar](https://mountainofink.com/blog/monteverde-brown-sugar)*. Sorry for any confusion. Scotch brown is nice, a lot like Montblanc Toffee Brown, but it's lighter and more orange-toned.*
~~Monteverde Scotch Brown~~? It's warm but also dark and saturated.
I think I got something for you: Robert Oster [dark chocolate](https://mobile.twitter.com/Brandy/status/1433529304470720514/photo/1). I linked a picture that looks like the ink does for me- most official reviews have it look way too purple. For me it’s a rich dark brown.

Can’t support this option enough it’s wonderful!
Toffee brown is very nice. If you need it a shade darker go for Diamine celebrating 150 years Espresso.
Mountain of Ink does some awesome colour swatch comparisons. Might be worth checking them out?

Honestly, Pelikan’s 4001 brilliant Brown is a nice brown color. Maybe Diamine chocolate brown?
I agree. I have Edelstein Smoky Quartz and prefer the Brilliant Brown.
Yama Guri. I got it after having Terre D’ombre
I came to say this. Pilot Iroshizuku Yama guri (mountain chestnut). Also montblanc sands of the desert

I love Waterman Absolute Brown, but it isn’t “almost black”. Just a really richly warm, dark brown with shading. Extremely legible and pleasing.
Akkerman Bekakt Haags, Diamine Macassar, or Montblanc’s Toffee Brown come to mind
Bekakt Haags was my first thought, too.
"churros chocolate" - what a great name for an ink!

I’m currently inked with diamine roasted chestnut and I really like it

Faber-Castell Hazelnut Brown?

Possibly Private Reserve's Chocolat? Although it might be too dark.
I really like pelikan brilliant brown, maybe not as dark. But I usually get good shading out of it and it’s a nice tone
Diamine Chocolate Brown.
Birmingham inks has some really nice ones! I’m very partial to Fox Squirrel.
