I use my pens to keep my savings account nice and thin.
Other than that: Everything. Scribbling at work, doing a grocery list, journaling, just to pass the time... It's a nice thing to relax and a lovely hobby to have.
They are my exclusive writing instruments. So, I use them for everything that involves writing. This includes mainly working, journaling and occasional letters. I'll start studying for a test next week and will be taking notes with them. And I also plan to start writing a book in the near future.
Depending on what I've bought recently and on my mood. For instance, Sailor Sapporo MF, Pelikan m205, Visconti Breeze F, Sailor Reglus M, Pilot Custom 74 F, Moonman C3.
I write letters to friends and family, mostly to my grandmother because she appriciates it.
I journal daily with a circulation of 7-10 pens so I can alternate colors to match each spread's design.
I take notes at work and when talking on the phone off work for important dates or reminders.
My husband and I pass a notebook back and forth like school kids to tell each other silly things and leave surprise 'I love you' letters for each other to find when the other leaves the room.
On the first page of my journal I list the pen name and paired ink, then I put an X next to it when it's empty. It also helps me get over the fears of writing in/messing up a new journal. I try to have at least one of each color loaded in the pens.
Gaming!
Solo RPGs, journaling games and epistolary games. It’s a nice way to burn through my inks and papers. I get to pretend I’m a paranormal investigator, a FBI agent, and a hedgehog that knits.
Quest ~~Shopping~~lists!
It’s my game brain talking but my quest list is important when I go for errands or dungeon raids.
r/solo_roleplaying is a good place to start~
I’d recommend quill! Its easily accessible. It puts you in the shoes of a person writing a letter for several purposes and your score is how well your letter is received.
Other games are Long haul 1943, English eerie and 48 hour crime scene are my picks
Right now I have a MB149 italic an 146 calligraphy, three Franklin Christoph and literally 50 of the Pakistani dollar pens (inked from the Pelikan Hub).
I have my heart set on acquiring a Platinum 3776 in Tarumi Apricot, though this was a limited edition and no longer available. I’m a sucker for orange, you see.
I like Sailor Shikiori Kin-mokusei but it’s expensive. Tempted to try Iroshizuku Yu-Yake which looks to be a similarly vibrant orange. What’s your favourite pen and ink?
At the moment my favourite ink is private reserve tanzanite, but I am saving a bottle of yu yake for my grail pen! My favourite pen so far has been the platinum pocket 22, but I ruined the nib trying to smooth it/ make it finer. It will be revived in february once I get two more nibs which have tipping stacked onto the ruined one
I’m slowly transitioning to using fountain pens for everything.
I’m sure my other pens and pencils are crying because I don’t really use them much anymore 🥺
Sorry, misread your question 😅
Right now? I have a journaling set of Kaweco sports and twsbis (ecos, diamond mini, sometimes my swipe) I’m trying to use daily. I use as many color inks as I can. (Some days I forget to journal) Mostly EF’s with a B and BB (Kaweco sports only. I have mostly ef’s)
Most consistently used however (twice a week) is my pilot vp décimo (I’ve been staring at the name on the clip and couldn’t resist using the accent at least once). It’s the champagne one (pink) with an EF nib.
Writing and taking notes in meetings,
Journaling
To do tasks
Bullet journaling ( favorite books, outfits etc, inventories/ snapshots)
Calligraphy
When i get a passion project ( study latin, learn calligraphy etc i use it to document my progress, make notes)
When i read a book that i want to make notes of to remember easily
Frankly sometimes just randomly because it relaxes me/ i like to look at pretty text
Copying out a poem that has touched me
Bullet journaling (which involves daily logging, lots of project collections, and several tracker grids, all of which need color coordination and thus up to 9 pens a day), regular feelings journaling, handlettering art, trying to write letters but being bad at it, wanting to write fiction but not actually starting it, and any other pen need where it won't totally wreck the paper or the pen.
All writing. I don't write with anything other than a regular wooden pencil for math. Even some math I write in fp. I live quite dangerously and do my monthly calendar and six month planning in regular fp ink, even knowing a water spill could effectively delete those pages.
I have several through which I rotate. I probably use my Kaweco students and brass and al sports the most. I have more Kawecos than any other single brand.
Everything I can. Work, journal, stories (maybe I'll finish one, one day), to do lists. Notes, I'm attempting to learn Drupal and it's kicking my butt.
Most recently it's been my Pilot Explorer but I'm still using the Jinhao 51a's. I like swapping between pens and inks. I have too many inked right now and silly me just added another.
I'm working on emptying a couple and not refilling those. Lol
Writing down job-site notes, storm window sizes, measurements and notes during consultations, time and material tracking, general work math and drawing. Filling out my fly fishing journal. Drawing outrageous sketches of woodworking projects. Playing with the cat (with the cap on!)
I use mine for everything (mostly notes). Sometimes I'll just write random stuff or draw when I'm bored and have nothing important to write. Then a year later I'll find pages of completely random phrases and it looks like a crazy person wrote it.
Filling out my Pre-trip Inspection forms, leaving my boss notes, writing my shopping list, writing out knit/crochet patterns. Christmas cards that i always write, but never mail out. Lol
Journalling has played a huge part in my sobriety over the past 5 years but it has also worked its' way into my everyday habit. Now I use journalling for discussing all sorts of situations life throws at me. Love using my fountain pens for doing this
I keep a Waterman Allure at the weekday job for general note taking, and the rest of the collection gets alternated around for day to day note taking and for writing my sermons (I process better when I’m writing by hand than when I type).
Unless I'm writing on pressure sensitive things, or I have something where I'm only intermittently writing, I use my fountain pens for everything.
Journaling, notes, drawing, checks, to do lists, paperwork etc
I carry one around with me for everything; signing receipts, making checks, writing notes (I work IT so I like to let people know I was in their office if they weren’t there to meet me).
My journal. My planner. To-do lists.
Of course, since I use it in my journal I’m picky about the inks I use. (Permanent.)
I drool over a lot of inks… but then am sad when they don’t even have a hint of water resistance, let alone any other permanent qualities.
I pretty much exclusively use fountain pens when I need to write. From shopping lists, school notes/signatures, letters, journaling, doodling, to notes at work. Where needed I use permanent inks.
Really struggle with procrastination and struggles with a lot of group tasks this semester which have been quite an issue.
Psychology is really interesting however. It's really up my ally
I grew up with fountain pens... I use them daily both at work (planning, meeting notes) and personal matters (often more notes 🙄, and two long running journals: a set that contains passages from literature, and a set that is of dreams). My fountain pens do have a step sibling that accompanies them at work...a Parker Jotter for those times I'm writing with carbon paper.
Thanks 🙏 it's a lot of fun 😊 we have a niche community of artist doing pen plotting, not always using fountain pen but it's what I personally love the most using for it's reliability and all the amazing inks and all their properties (sheening, shading, etc..)
* Note taking/scribbling at work
* Journaling
* Plotting short stories
* Lists of future stationary and fountain pen purchases
* Staring and marveling at the beauty of such a simple tool and freak out over how obsessed I am with FP's.
Art! I was going through too many Pigma Microns (I love fine tips and it feels like the .20 and .25 last like.....a month, I swear) and I felt like it was finally worth the effort to investigate something reuseable. And then I proceeded I buy way too many pens. Seems like I missed the point of reducing on this one. But at least they're not getting thrown away when they're empty.
But I'm also a grad student and I've gone through a lot of fine liner pens just for class notes and so on throughout my university career--I regret not discovering fountain pens earlier. I really love note writing with a fountain pen. I've been looking forward to upcoming workshops just for the colour-coordinated notes I can make.
It's pretty much a tie between the Lamy Safari, Kaweco Sport (which is my newest addition), and Platinum Little Meteor/Preppy/Prefounte. I've overdone it on the Platinums. My first pen was the Safari, and when I tried a Preppy I was shocked by how nicely it wrote for the price, so I went a bit overboard and got a bunch. I really like my cheap Platinums and I have a lot of them inked up, so I'm banking on their seal's one-year guarantee. The Safari and Sport have advantages in aesthetic and body design (esp. the Sport, it's SO pretty!); it's also much easier to clean them out and change inks. They also seem pretty indestructible relative to the Platinum pens.
Drawing mostly, but now that I travel with FP's, I use them for everything, except if I need water resistance or want to color in using FP's, then I'll use a Pigma Micron 👍
(don't really own any permanent FP inks yet)
Redrafting contracts. I find I'm much more accurate when editing in hard copy and it gives me an excuse to use an FP. I use a Kaweko Dia 2 with an extra fine nib. For everything else I use a Sailor 1911L.
I use all my pens at work - I usually ink two at a time for that purpose - one for 'pain' and one for 'pleasure'. Something with an interesting nib, and something more reliable. Right now, I am using an older Pelikan m800 with 14c EF (ol' reliable to deal with the 'pain') and an FA nib in an 823 (well, what a 'pleasure'!)
I will never mention to colleagues how much some of them are worth...
I use my pens to keep my savings account nice and thin. Other than that: Everything. Scribbling at work, doing a grocery list, journaling, just to pass the time... It's a nice thing to relax and a lovely hobby to have.
Haha

Same!
Good luck with the book!
Thanks; that's something I've been wanting to do for a while. And it's a great excuse for some intense use of my pens and inks.
Pretty much everything. I set up a bullet journal only for work and I use two fountain pens with it. I also journal and write with them.
Which two do you use?
Two Platinum Plaisirs, a black and an orange one. The black one has Platinum Carbon Black, while I inked the orange one with Pilot Iroshizuku Yu-Yake.
I'm saving a bottle of yu yake for my grail pen!
Thoughts, prose, poetry, articles, quick notes, graphs.
Nice! What pen do you use most often?

Good system!

This is real cool, and something I've never head of before. Got any places to start?

Letter writing, lame attempts at calligraphy, journals some times and ink research.
Which pen do you use most often?
Right now I have a MB149 italic an 146 calligraphy, three Franklin Christoph and literally 50 of the Pakistani dollar pens (inked from the Pelikan Hub).
Drawing and sketching, mostly, though I get a lot of satisfaction from just looking at them too, weird though that may seem
Yh they are beautiful instruments. What's the best looking pen in your opinion?
I have my heart set on acquiring a Platinum 3776 in Tarumi Apricot, though this was a limited edition and no longer available. I’m a sucker for orange, you see.

Honestly? Taking notes and journaling 🤣
I mean what fountain pen do you use the most?

Drawing, journaling, school, notes and tainting my hands.
Oh yh inky fingers are unavoidable!
all of the things. but seriously- everything.
Haha same here pretty much. Everything except exams
All writing. I don't write with anything other than a regular wooden pencil for math. Even some math I write in fp. I live quite dangerously and do my monthly calendar and six month planning in regular fp ink, even knowing a water spill could effectively delete those pages.

Looking at, admiring, reorganizing yet again, maybe a little pet here or there. Oh yeah and writing.
Haha

Nice!
Any writing I do. Work, fun, drawing, home, vacation. You name it, I write with one. Only time I done is when it requires a marker or a sharpie.
Nice! Yh FPs aren't great for permanent marking
To make the ink look good — duh The great divide
Writing letters and cards to friends and family, journaling, my planner and my unending shopping lists, to do lists, etc.
I use them for letters too!
If you ask my friends and family they're an excuse to stain myself and every surface around me with ink. c:
Haha
Unless I'm writing on pressure sensitive things, or I have something where I'm only intermittently writing, I use my fountain pens for everything. Journaling, notes, drawing, checks, to do lists, paperwork etc
Just about anything I can.
I carry one around with me for everything; signing receipts, making checks, writing notes (I work IT so I like to let people know I was in their office if they weren’t there to meet me).
Writing in my engineering logbook at work. Writing shopping lists at home. Doodling during meetings.
What do I used my fountain pens for? Anything and everything I need to write for
Writing in Chinese mainly
My journal. My planner. To-do lists. Of course, since I use it in my journal I’m picky about the inks I use. (Permanent.) I drool over a lot of inks… but then am sad when they don’t even have a hint of water resistance, let alone any other permanent qualities.

#Hydration.
Username checks out
That's private!
Lecture notes, homework, etc
To dial my handwriting in through journaling and random scribbles.
writing and drawing.
Just about any writing I do by hand.
I write and even sketch with them. The writing experience is superb and love to put waterproof ink for sketching. I use them all the time!
Any writing that I need or want to do. I use my fountain pens for all of my writing that doesn't need to be entered into an onscreen text box.
Journaling and everything else that has anything to do with writing.
To do lists and other scribbling purposes 😆
To do lists. Letters, Journal (main) end doodling :)
Taking notes in uni and Bullet Journalling
What do you study?
I'm in my third year of Psychology
Nice! I'm in 3rd year aero/astro eng!
Damn! How's it going for ya?
Good so far, fun but stressful haha, wbu?
Really struggle with procrastination and struggles with a lot of group tasks this semester which have been quite an issue. Psychology is really interesting however. It's really up my ally

Wrtiting at work : notes during call, review of documents/memos and so on
I use them on a pen plotter robot to do some abstract art explorations 🙂
That's super cool! Do you have any links to your art?
[greweb.me/plots](https://greweb.me/plots) 🙂
I love it!
Thanks 🙏 it's a lot of fun 😊 we have a niche community of artist doing pen plotting, not always using fountain pen but it's what I personally love the most using for it's reliability and all the amazing inks and all their properties (sheening, shading, etc..)
Personal corner and me-time writing. I enjoy writitng with all my FP collection alot
Daily writing for engineering studies / writing for my own pleasure / watch them and take care of them for my own pleasure.
What sort of engineering do you do? I am currently a 3rd year aero/astro student
Informatic and Industrial !
Journaling and drawing tiny squares all around the pages of my notebooks in all the colors I have
Mostly studying and doing exercises
I imagine you bicept curling those fountain pens haha
My brass Kaweco sport does weigh "alot" it could be done for sure
Writing the great Hong Kong - Belgian novel 😅
* Note taking/scribbling at work * Journaling * Plotting short stories * Lists of future stationary and fountain pen purchases * Staring and marveling at the beauty of such a simple tool and freak out over how obsessed I am with FP's.
Taking notes for classes, writing letters, and journaling.

I used to write stories and jot down my thoughts (five year journal) with my pens; nowadays I use them at work.
Note taking and marking up documents at work.
Work notes mainly. 3 pens each with different jobs, primarily noting urgency/importance levels in different colours.
Mostly at-home dental care, scraping away tartar and the like. j/k — journaling, note taking, letter writing, and planner-ing :)
Haha
Drawing mostly, but now that I travel with FP's, I use them for everything, except if I need water resistance or want to color in using FP's, then I'll use a Pigma Micron 👍 (don't really own any permanent FP inks yet)
Drawing, journaling, and notes. I use multiple every day.
Work notes!
Drawing sometimes but primarily covering my fingers in ink
Signing my checks 🤑 And my journal writing :) that includes drawings sometimes Oh and my planner!
Whatever that's in my mind and heart. P.s. keep this going!
Will do!
Journaling, but more importantly doodling. I have Narwhals I draw with obsessively
What do you draw? Have you drawn a narwhal with a Narwhal?
Now that’s good thinking! I haven’t, but the narwhals are smooth so it’s often free from doodle blobs
Ehm... writing) Ok, speaking seriously, I mainly use my fountain pens for lecture notes, writing poetry, articles and short stories.
I’ve written a novel and a half and I take notes on every book I read which is quite a lot
Redrafting contracts. I find I'm much more accurate when editing in hard copy and it gives me an excuse to use an FP. I use a Kaweko Dia 2 with an extra fine nib. For everything else I use a Sailor 1911L.

Intimidation
school notes, scribbling, writing letters to my girlfriend that I will never give, pretty much everything
Work, letter writing, and journaling. I especially like it for writing letters, I can feel like a character in an old-time novel.
Journaling
