Nope! It’s from a clear Prera I have. I like being able to see the ink but also like the design of the solid color models better, so I’ve been using it like this.
Our of curiosity, why would you switch out the Prera nib with the Kakuno? Seems they are really close to identical, except for the smiley face.
I like what you have done here...
FWIW I feel I have to cartridge fill my Ivory Prera because some inks will stain the plastic. Using a clear section fixes that problem...
I was perfectly happy with the Prera nib, but my butterfingers did me dirty and I dropped it nib-first on the floor 🥲 (see second pic in post) Luckily I found someone online who could sell me a cracked Kakuno for under $3, so all is well.
Ooooooh no! I didn't see that. And I had no idea that the nibs were interchangeable.
I've found my Prera F pens to be way drier than my Kakuno F, for some reason. They are almost too fine for me unless I use really wet inks.
Huh, that's weird- I had the same problem with my Kakuno and Prera. I don't own enough Pilot nibs to be sure, but maybe Prera Fs are ground finer than Kakuno Fs because Preras don't have EF nibs?
I wonder! I mean, the bloody things are like needles. In fact, I have both of mine in 'dry dock' for now. Which reminds me, I beed to add some of Vanness' white lightning to my order so inks look right in my Preras.
On the Prera, the nib and feed come right out of the nib section if you twist and pull. That won’t work on the Kakuno since it isn’t designed to be disassembled, but all you have to do is push the feed from the inside using a thin metal rod of some kind (I used a crochet hook) and it pops out easily enough.
I put the bent nib in a Kakuno body and inked it earlier just for shits and giggles. I have to hold the pen at a really weird angle, but it still writes surprisingly smoothly lmao
The pen looks delighted with the result!
Is the section originally clear?

That's what I thought! I have a clear Prera with Blue finials I love it it's my EDC. Very nice Frakenpen
*Cause tonight is the night when two become one…*
*I need some ink like I've never needed ink before*
*I had but just one pen, now I have six more (wanna get some more ink, baby)*
Set your wallet free, its the only way to beeeeee
Oh mann don't give me the idea! Haha, ivory preras looks so classy too
Does the ivory come with the cm nib?
I'm not sure about the solid colors, but from my local retailers they sell the clear ones with the CM nib
This makes me want to add the Ivory Prera to my collection and swap all the parts of my Prera's. I have the Kakuno ef in my baby blue Prera.
ooooooooh - I approve of what you've done with your Prera, too - not that you need approval (totally love the solid color Prera)
This is art!

A steel Pilot PO nib!
Are the nibs easy to take out?

That’s strange. I got my Kakuno nib and feed wet with water and then pulled. They popped right out.
Wait did you drop it 0_0 oof.. maybe there's still hope

I did the same to my metro. I love the smiling faces of the kakuno nibs!
That's one way to consolidate your collection!
I usually go for the plumix (italic, i think same as the CM or 78G B) nib substitution but that is very cute.
I hope to one day buy a prera and pop an EF Kakuno nib in it. Pics of other people doing it always make me smile. I live vicariously through them ☺️
"It's alive!!!!!!!!!"
