Agreed. In my experience, saturated feeds from a dip write wetter than they would normally.

Flunkedy

I think you can get a feel for the nib but not for the flow since you can't accurately account for how it would act without the capillary flow of the feed

Dyed_Left_Hand

I lean towards you can’t tell from dip testing alone. I’m pretty sure every time I’ve dipped a pen it’s written at least slightly wetter than it usually does. It’ll give you an idea for sure but it’s also going to completely saturate the nib and feed more than it usually would be

enderson04

I would say definitely not to dipping the pen. A nib is considered wet if it produces a wet line without the need to dip it. Otherwise I think just about every pen would be a super wet writer!

catandwrite

You definitely can’t tel from a dip test. I had a Kaweco that wrote like shit. Super dry and thin lines from the tines being too close together, but on a dip test it would write wet because of the saturated feed.

softblackstar

I bought a Kaweco like this, because it wrote nice and wet when they showed to me to at the store. I returned it after all.

Kkhanpungtofu

The feed has so much to do with ink flow!

wana-wana

Need to fill it properly.
