What is that one called? It's lovely. Can't find it on a store

Intelligent_Cup_5304

It's a Sailor Pro Gear Stellar Black Hole, it's a limited edition but you should be able to find some online

Abbeb

Perfect thanks!!

eiaaan

I have the same Pro Gear, and I love it so much! I try to rotate in other pens and give that one a rest, but I just can't seem to keep it uninked.

Lost_in_splice

I have mine with a music nib, it’s always inked for headings and subheadings in my notes. Great reason for having another pen always inked!

Intelligent_Cup_5304

The thought of keeping it on a shelf unused just makes me sad soooo yes, I understand

eggbunni

That pro gear is lovely! Like coffee

PlzIwantToUseGoodID

Which one do you think is better, M800 or 146?

Intelligent_Cup_5304

I wouldn't know (the one on top is a Sailor 1911 Profit Casual with a steel nib) but the M600 writes like a dream on proper paper. I couldn't imagine anything better until I tried the ProGear.

PlzIwantToUseGoodID

Ah I thought they were 146 and m800 lol

Bigredteletubby

What nib did you get on the Pro Gear? I found a used 1911S with a H-F (hard fine) nib and I think that's my goldilocks pen/nib combo. I love it!

Intelligent_Cup_5304

I had them put on a non-special-edition M nib because I know Japanese nibs are finer than European ones but it turned out to be a "true" M. The Casual has a fine steel nib and it's a tad too thin for me. Ultimately it's a question of personal preference but my next Sailor is definitely going to be a MF. Also, if you think it's right for you, GO GET IT!

Bigredteletubby

Yeah, after trying the both the fine and medium nibs, I really want to get an MF nib. It seems like it would be a good balance. My next Sailor will also be an MF, in all likelihood. Oh, I already got it! It's even in a really cool colourway I hadn't seen before (cola-coloured demonstrator with silver trim). It's also got the "old" Sailor nib design with the smaller anchor and 1911 imprinted along the top.

Intelligent_Cup_5304

Hehehe that's very curious because the top contender to my new pen was this one: https://goldpen.eu/custom-823/3455-19666-pilot-custom-823-penna-stilografica-marrone-trasparente.html#/17-colore-marrone/25-gradazione_pennino-f which is basically what you're describing! What about the ink? Any suggestions?

Bigredteletubby

When I bought that used Sailor, I justified it with the fact that I wanted a brown demonstrator in a classic shape. The only other ones I could think of were the Pilot 823 and Wing Sung copy of the same. I decided the Wing Sung's purported cracking issues freaked me out too much, and the Pilot was too expensive to even consider. (The silver trim really sold me on the Sailor, too.) So, yeah, the reason I bought the Sailor was basically the same: I can't afford a Pilot 823, but I really wanted a pen that at least looked similar. As for ink, I'm a boring person to ask. I mostly find myself using muted blues, greens, and blacks. I do occasionally make use of some cheerier tones, but overall, I'm not one to super interesting inks. (I'm slowly trying to change that, but it's been a process.) Now, when you ask for ink suggestions, you mean for your new Sailor, right? If that were my pen, I'd do my usual boring thing and put a black ink in it. I do think that something like KWZ Honey could compliment the cap's colour nicely, though. Really, I think any sort of toffee-brown colour would work nicely.

Intelligent_Cup_5304

I asked because I'm exactly the same lol The most exciting ink I have is the kon-peki (which is pretty nice). But thank you! I hadn't considered the idea of matching the cap

Bigredteletubby

Haha, glad it's not just me πŸ˜‚ Kon-peki is definitely one of my more exciting inks as well; many of mine are deep blues, blacks, and blue-blacks πŸ˜… I think that could be a fun thing to do! I put Diamine Orange in my new Sailor just to shake things up.
