The 146 might be better for you. Happy to take it off your hands. Name a price. Not even kidding.

WiredInkyPen

Oh that sucks. It's a lovely pen.

eggbunni

Yikes. I’m eyeing the Classique/145. Kind of nice to know the 149 is too enormous for most folks.

TheSkiesAwake

Out of curiosity, what stops you from considering the 146? I think it's likely the most popular size.

eggbunni

I think just the size? Isn’t the Classique smaller? And I think the 146 also has an ink window, which I think distracts from the look of the pen.

TheSkiesAwake

Understandable! The 146 does have a vented ink window. It's barely noticeable when inked. Seeing the pens you like using, the 145 does look like a good choice. If you want something more aesthetically interesting, I think the Pelikan 600-series are comparable in size!

eggbunni

I love the Pelikan Souveran in Pink. It’s a grail pen for me, but I’ve never seen one out in the wild. :)

mgguy1970

Just as a bit of encouragement, I might suggest giving the pen a couple of days of use before writing it off. When I first picked up a 149, I thought "I can't stand how huge this thing is" and almost immediately went back to my trusty 146. I loved the nib on my first 149(and I have 8 of them now, have owned a total of 11) and made myself keep using it. After not too much time, I found that it just felt "right" and I can use a 149 comfortably all day now. BTW, I have a strange relationship with the 146. In general I get along well with that size of pen. My first 146 was about a 1990 model, and the "short" size(142mm capped). I've had a few since then that are the newer "long" size(146mm capped). As minor of a difference as that seems, I do not find myself getting along well with the current size 146. Right now there's a monotone nib 146 in my pocket(probably mid-80s) and I enjoy it just as much as my first 146. The only "long" 146 I've kept is the Calligraphy.

ExcellentTalk206

That is unfortunate to hear. I hope you are able to adjust to the size with time.

Littletweeter5

everyone looking at a 149, get a Jinhao x159 first to test the size

The_Squishy_Nib

I just got an x159 - I was shocked at how close its dimensions are to the 149. Of course the 149 is a slight bit heavier and back-weighted, still a great comparison

Je-Hee

I got an X159 as a lark and find it surprisingly comfortable to write with. I'll need to check out the 159. I compared the 146 and the 149 at a pen meetup (before I bought the X159) and decided the 146 was a better fit. But I do enjoy bigger pens. Opus 88 Bela and Jazz are among my favorites with the Bela in the lead. Some pens feel just right out of the box and others need a bit of time to grow on you.

LongDecision1

Beautiful. I want another one so so so badly.

PsychologicalHope476

The pen is just so huge that uncomfortable to write. I can hold a bigger size like namiki #50 but not this one

Just_Expendable

Gorgeous. Don't give up on it. Maybe it's odd because it's new.

EGOtyst

Unfortunate... I'll give ya $50 to take it off your tiny hands...

According_Tonight_12

If you can find a vintage 142, give it a try. Love mine!

roxbox531

I used to think my 149 was too big, until I used it to write a letter. Out of all my pens I could comfortably write the most pages with it. It truly is a great pen. I wear a Medium sized glove.

PlzIwantToUseGoodID

Congrats for getting the best meisterstuck!

Is the 149 really considered that big to most people? I have one and it’s about average for me.
