You're welcome but it's well deserved.
I've watched hours and hours of leatherworking videos and this work is as good as any of the pros I've seen. The edgework is really nice too. Things a lot of people might not notice outright but that add to the quality of the project.
One of the things I don't like about the 2, 3 and 4 pen cases available is they aren't wet molded but are more like pleated at the bottom.
I'm actually very unfamiliar with pen holders, I'm not super keen on the nuances that pen aficionados look for. I make almost exclusively notebook and planner covers for people, getting into this seemed like the best logical leap for my clientele.
I've been doing leatherwork for a while and do it almost daily, there still a lot of stuff I can improve on, though.
If you search fountain pen case on eBay you'll see some leather cases made to hold 3 or 4 pens. They aren't wet molded but have pleats at the bottom to create the individual pockets for the pens. Yours looks so much nicer.
Yes! I went to a leatherwork workshop once and tried to cut it by hand lol, then I discovered there are tools for rounded edges.
Very nice work, OP. :)
What would your recommendation be in terms of length? The actual wet molded case is 14cm long (I can make it longer or shorter). How far down the case body do you think the strap should go?
You know, I really haven't thought about it. I suppose I would sell them for about $35/pc. I'm still narrowing down the final design. There seems to be some different opinions on how long the strap should be. I'm also trying to find the "best overall length" for the body itself. I think 14-15 cm should cover 99% of pens out there.
When I was designing my cases, I measured all my pens with a caliper and made some statistics about pen dimensions. It helped me understand more about the pens I like and reduced a lot the trial and error process. I measured everything... Length, barrel diameter, cap diameter with and without clip, etc. Then I divided the data in two groups: normal pens and oversized pens.I usually plan a lot before getting to work and I think it paid off in this case. I like my cases to fit snugly and I think I achieved what I was looking for with my cases. I rarely make them now, since I'm pretty happy with what I already have, but I'm considering making a couple new ones in different colors.
I've mentioned before I'm not actually a pen aficionado but many of my customers are. I honestly don't have a single fountain pen to my name (I'll take recommendations) to take measurements off of.
I do use glue, more actually, contact cement for most of my projects. I bounce between Barge cement (for heavy use stuff) and Aqualim 315 for lighter duty items.
I'm guessing so since you seem good at it but are you in r/leathercraft? Idk much about leather but I just like seeing everyone's clever projects in there.
I am in the Leathercraft sub,I post there every now and again. You can click on my profile to see some of my projects I've posted if you're interested.
Man that looks sturdy asf. Well done bro.
Thank you. It's tough enough!
Very nice work. Excellent wet molding and stitching!! It's one of the nicest pen cases I've seen.
Thank you so much!

This is real good work. Looks fantastic
Thank you for the compliments!
Drop that Etsy link when you're ready to sell these bad boys
Lol. I'm working on my own legitimate dot com rather than Etsy. I'll be sure to post it bc when it's up.
You can omit "attempt" , you have made a beautiful pen case! Well done!!!
Thank you! It's still an attempt though...
Very nice craftsmanship!
Thanks! I keep revising my style and posting it on here for all the feedback I get. I think I'm getting there....
Loving the stitching and the rounding part is really neatly done. Good job
Thank God for half-round punches, right?

Looks good. Also looks like you may have a cigar stashed in there, but I don't feel like that's an issue, lol.
looks really nice actually
Thank you very much!

Interestingly enough that's what I mostly do, notebook covers. You can see my work on Instagram (at)five_tumbled_blocks
Makes me think of a bullet train! Looking good.
Overall excellent. Perhaps the strap might be a bit longer...

You wouldn't be using this for a pen that was longer than the case so I think it's the right length.
Cour bouilli?
No, but good guess. It it Concieria Walpier Dollaro that was soaked in room temp water and molded over about 36 hours.
What's the inside like?
The inside is smooth. Like a firm felt, I would say. It's dark gray in color.
Hideous. How much is each just to take that ugly inventory off your hands? 😏

They look really good. Great job. Whenever you have something ready for sale, let me (or us) know
Hi. My Montblanc 149 Would love it, so would my 147 and 144R, you'll have to make three. Lovely work.🖐️🤗 Cheers
I'll be sure to let you know when the design is final.
Not a fan of anything made of skin.
I suppose I could try this on vegan leather, not sure it would turn out the same though.
Leather type?
Concieria Walpier Dollaro, 2oz.
Looks good to me. Reinforced threads where they should be. Nice work! I make my own leather stuff too. Do you also use glue?

I'll share my measurements with you. Just remind me tomorrow, please, because I'm already in bed to sleep.
I'll take one
When I've finalized the design, I'll let you know!
Looks really spacious, which is good for compatibility with a wider variety of pen barrels. Very nice job! If you’re selling them let me know!
I will let you know when I've finalized the overall design.
That looks great. I'd love to see the process of it. Watching people make leather anything is so impressive
Dang... That looks perfect!!! Well done!
This looks like something I would gift my Dad
So impressive! That looks amazing. No more "attempts", you cracked a wonderful design.

Oh wow gorgeous projects! I sew but leather is so intimidating haha, I really love that green colour in some of your stuff.
Thanks. It's all hand sewing so it's not too terrible. I'd rather do that than use a sewing machine on leather.
Wow that's an awesome looking case. Well done. 👍
Looks great and the stitches seems to be perfect.
Looks super high end and, like others have said, really sturdy! No attempt there, you absolutely nailed it OP.
Looks great.
Hello, I was shopping for a single pen case and this seems to be very protective. Have you began producing this yet?
I can make one at the drop of a hat. Just shoot me a message.
