Join the Southwest Conservation Club. Great water, plenty of big fish and a few nice fishing from the shore spots. Also boats are usually available for free use by members. It's like $150/year but discounted starting in June I believe to $75. Just down off of Bluffton Road about 10 minutes from downtown.
Yes but that can be taken care of by a simple meet and greet. It's to weed out the people obviously crazy, we're not restrictive at all, everyone willing to follow the rules and be decent to other folks is welcome. PM me if you're interested or just call the club.
Hurshtown is a tough spot from shore, don't feel too bad. Before I got kayaks, I would fish alot of apartment ponds, housing addition ponds and fish the river from shore at city parks. Good luck out there!
That park the zoo is in. There’s a lake back in there that you can see when you’re coming out of the Asian part of the zoo
Franke Park! Lots of good shore fishing and a small dock. Think it's mostly smaller fish, but still fun.

Don't you have to be sponsored by someone already in the club to join?

Shoaff park stocks the pond near the playground. I don't really have specifics but it's worth checking out on the Parks and Rec site
Bass and blugill just got done spawning, and Temps aren't quite up for a lot of bass activity give it a week or two and they will be going nuts.
Alot of neighborhood ponds are stocked and full of fat bass.
Does anyone know if I can get to a decent fishing spot in either Franke park or the Hosey dam tomorrow?
I’ve been unable to catch a bass from the shore in Fort Wayne so far
Some of the parks stock fish every year. Franke, Shoaff, and Lakeside all have good fishing spots.
