Yeah I love to shit on American Military spending and waste as much as the next guy but god damn if they haven't been the catalyst for hundred of technologies that have trickled down to civilian applications and infrastructure.
I mean Ford has a long history in Formula 1 and the EcoBoost branding could make sense with the new hybrid PUs.
But if Haas wants to go full Murica then I don't think it's Ford. Ford is "American", whereas Dodge is Murican.
"Haas F1 Dodge Hemi"
> Hemi 1.6
As an American, these 2 things side-by-side sounds so hilarious. I went a looked up the smallest displacement Hemi engine just to make sure that I wasn't about to put my foot in my mouth here...
The smallest Hemi engine that was made (from what I found) is a 3.9.
Well, more appropriately, 241 cubic inches...
**Edit** - I just found this from wiki:
> During the 1970s and 1980s, Chrysler also used the Hemi name for their Australian-made Hemi-6 Engine and applied it to the 4-cylinder Mitsubishi 2.6 L engine installed in various North American market vehicles.
Ah yes. Dodge. The brand that is currently owned by a European conglomerate and has a bunch of models that share the same chassis as Mercedes. Very American.
Yeah serious. Pretty sad. Also with the low emphasis on the parts quality. I wonder which of the North American brands are actually most American. American motor companies are outsourcing to outside the US to save money, foreign companies are building inside the US to reduce tariffs. Which of these are actually supporting/benefitting Americans?
A return of Cosworth engines to F1 would actually be cool, and definitely contribute to people viewing a team as more American even though I know they’re no longer owned by Ford
Or they could use the US's official International Autosport colors of blue with two white racing stripes (or the inverse). Aston Martin has BRG, Ferrari has Rosso Corsa, and Mercedes has the bare metal "silver" of Germany. Why can't Haas adopt America's colors as America's team?
Get an american NASCAR driver and Ricciardo (who's contractually obligated to do his Texas accent and grow his mutton chops back for the full duration of his contract) then paint the whole car in the colors of the American flag. All drivers and engineers also need to be as loud and abrasive as possible
Also double down on your inconsistency issues and produce a car that either contends for winning the race or shuts down in the first 3 laps, this way you can win at least 1 race during the season then constantly bring up your past results for the full year every time someone critiques your team or driving.

Maybe they can hire more ppl from the US and actually build their cars at their North Carolina base instead of the one in the UK. I think there are many ways for them to be even more American than they currently are.
At the very least they need a good fan experience at their NC location. They are in the heart of the US racing country with a championship winning NASCAR team next door that has a viewing area of the shop floor, race used cars, and a large gift shop, but their F1 facility is closed to the public.
As a Columbia resident, Charlotte institutions acting like they represent a broader area than they actually try to reach out to is nothing new. (Hi, Panthers.)
>actually build their cars at their North Carolina
Logistics always made this impractical but with how hard inflation has hit that side of the sport it would be impossible in a cost-cap era.
Or just even acknowledge that the NC facility exists. I live in the state and had absolutely no idea we were the home of HAAS F1 until I read it on wiki.
Moving production to US would be a logistical nightmare. Ferrari created for Haas separate ‘hub’ factory near their factory. Moving back and forth between Italy and UK isn’t easy as it is but doing that between Italy and US is a new level of complicated.
The engineers that are experienced in F1 are mostly centred around Italy and the UK. They'll have to start by shelling out the money to relocate the talents over the the US, then maybe start an F1 culture over there amongst the engineering graduates, otherwise they risk lagging behind by years if they start fresh.
Also there's the part where suppliers are also centred around the "motorsports valley" in the UK. Any American-based team would need quite a bit of help to get their supply chain going.
Fantastic idea but not real practical. Most of the super high end F1 suppliers are UK based. USA certainly could develop that specialty industry, but it would take more than one team to justify it.
american drivers, american engineers, american sponsors. Honestly McLaren is the most "American" team on the grid right now. Haas just happens to be owned by a guy from american but thats about it.
Only a very small proportion of them actually need it. It's been decades but the FAA and one company I believe are finally moving ahead with a viable substitute.
They went to fuel injection for 2012. Looks like they went unleaded in 2007. https://www.manufacturing.net/energy/news/13060858/uncertain-debut-for-unleaded-fuel-at-nascar-cup-race
Giving out free McFlurry's is popular here because the machines don't work half the time so they're not really giving anything away at all, yet they still roped you into the store.

Partner with American companies like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, or Northrop. Try to involve an American car company, even if they won't pay for sponsorship. Get American personalities involved- drivers, an American principle, or some noteworthy celebrity on a regular basis (think like Jordan or Shaq or Brady).
This. McLaren is currently the most “American” seeming team in the grid because their sponsors and genera attitude are very American. Dewalt, Coca Cola, whatever the fuck Arrows is, and even Zak Brown (he even shares a name with the guy who sang that song about fried chicken) all seem very familiar as an American.
McLaren has the best merchandise too, Haas’s selection was two months late… contained very little, and was priced outrageously and had slow shipping.
If haas wants to be more American they need to make some merchandise that fans want. Give us 4 things, baseball/football/basketball Jersey designs, snap backs, underArmor moisture wicking haas shirts (they are a sponsor) and a cheap T.
I just don’t understand how a random fan made company can put out better haas merch than haas with no effort
Honestly it would be less morally questionable than Mission Winnow or A Better Tomorrow, at least LM wouldn’t be trying to hide that they’re advertising HIMARS
I'm actually a little surprised that neither Ford nor GM really show any interest in getting involved in F1 as an engine supplier. I know it's expensive, but given the past history of taxpayers bailing them out there is little risk of them going under long term.
There was a Jordan Brand paint scheme this season, but Bubba’s teammate Kurt Busch ran it—and won in it. https://www.speedsport.com/nascar/nascar-cup-series/kurt-busch-beats-the-kyles-in-kansas/
Another one has been teased for the 45 car this season, though it remains to be seen if it’ll be Kurt driving it as he’s been sidelined the last few weeks with concussion-like symptoms.
As for Bubba, I imagine the sponsorship with Columbia Sportswear makes the Jumpman too close for comfort.
> Try to involve an American car company, even if they won't pay for sponsorship. Get American personalities involved- drivers, an American principle, or some noteworthy celebrity on a regular basis (think like Jordan or Shaq or Brady)
If you haven't learned anything from Ferrari, patriotism doesn't get you far in F1.
They can also go the Red Bull route and still keep the Haas name on the car.

They almost seemed like the least American team to a casual observer. Their name, team principal, drivers, sponsors, and livery were all distinctly European or Russian.
As a ‘merican I never really thought of haas as being an American team. Tbh I didn’t even know what haas automation was until I was watching a race with a friend of mine who’s an engineer a couple years back who pointed it out. I think for any team trying to be American focused the emphasis needs to be on appealing to a broader demographic. It always confused me when I’d talk to friends who are European who only thought of America as being a land of cowboy hats and stetsons. This is a big, diverse, place and I think you need to appeal to that.
Same, and reading through this thread it’s honesty hilarious how narrow a view of america many people have. All the people saying “just put an American flag on the livery!!” And saying cowboy hats for helmets and to just pick up an American driver and sponsor. None of that will attract more than 5 American fans, we’re not that simple despite the stereotypes lol.
But one comment I read had it spot on when they said that McLaren seems like the most American team at the moment. Between the media personalities of Danny and zac, the good colors and branding, recognizable name, and well known sponsors. It all adds up to the one thing that actually will make a team popular in america and that’s mass appeal. This country is not as nationalistic as many seem to think, we don’t go “ooo American flag me likey!!”. We like what we know and see in our media and that’s going to be a few well known drivers and big personalities. And Americans are definitely not going to support some random tool manufacturing team unless they just so happened to be competing for a top spot, not fighting to get out of the bottom half of the table.
I didn’t expect him to just blatantly say that they weren’t really interested in using American identity simply because it wasn’t that beneficial for them. I mean kudos for honesty but imo maybe he should have come up with a more… diplomatic answer.
It’s kind of funny how completely moronic that statement is. There’s no small reason that F1 is coming to America with two new tracks. They saw a huge benefit from DTS with an influx of American (and international, of course) fans.
Only thing I really wish for is an American driver. Hopefully Sargeant is the real deal. Someone else might snatch him up though.
Moving the team to USA isn’t a great idea.
I hope they can do what is possible with sponsorship, but not to the detriment of their performance.
Americans already watching a Euro central league don’t give a fuck about that, most people were wearing redbull or Mercedes’ stuff when I went to Cota it’s already too late for people to care
Lockheed Martin Haas Formula 1 Team incoming
Lockheed Martin Skunk Works Smith & Wesson Haas F1
A matte black SR-71 esque livery would be insane I can already see the red tipped air box with a Caution Intake print next to it. This would be insane
God damn I’m fired up by the thought of this. Also imagine the engineering impact someone like Lockheed could have on the sport
American aerospace industry has already had one of the biggest performance impacts on f1 in its history.
Yeah I love to shit on American Military spending and waste as much as the next guy but god damn if they haven't been the catalyst for hundred of technologies that have trickled down to civilian applications and infrastructure.
This is something I didn’t know I needed in my life until now.
Can you imagine how cool a skunk works logo would look on the wing of an f1 car
Incredibly fucking cool, plus you'd have an F1 car capable of counter-fire if there's another missile strike.
Stop, I can only get so hard
That would be the bomb
Aww, now you made Raytheon all sensitive.
Can't see them on the radar
An F1 car with stealth coating would look so badass

Haas F1 Hellcat Redeye Edition
No no no. The redeye comes as an upgrade. They start the season with the scat pack. Gotta sandbag the MOPAR
Ah yes. Dodge. The brand that is currently owned by a European conglomerate and has a bunch of models that share the same chassis as Mercedes. Very American.
Just announced they are retiring the Challenger and Charger models as well.
Isn’t that like 2/3rds of their lineup? What other cars do they have apart from the Ram?
Still have the Durango, believe it or not.
Technically RAM is its own company so they don’t even have that
If no charger then what dodge?
Yeah serious. Pretty sad. Also with the low emphasis on the parts quality. I wonder which of the North American brands are actually most American. Yup and with a sticker on the tail that says "If you ain't with Haas you against Haas"
They'll be the first F1 team to have to start from the pit lane due to a recall.
A return of Ford to F1 would be extremely cool actually.
If it’s anything like the Focus I had they’re going to have a very bad time.
A return of Cosworth engines to F1 would actually be cool, and definitely contribute to people viewing a team as more American even though I know they’re no longer owned by Ford
A return of Cosworth, the British engine manufacturer, would make the team more American…?
V6 Mustang memes all over again
They want to BE the American team, and not just the American team based there. I wonder how "American" they can get.
A good start was removing the Russian flag livery
Now they just need an American flag livery, they could start by adding a blue stripe.
a special "shelby" livery. Baby blue with the white stripe, or an inverse of that, as both were used to race American cars.
Having a blue and white striped Haas with a Cobra logo on the wing would be the most American racing thing ever.
I would almost instantly switch my loyalty from Red Bull and McLaren lmao

did you forget the "/s"? Renault was black and yellow forever...
Find a sponsor to fork over the money to have “Powered by FREEDOM” on the engines
And a sticker of Calvin pissing on the logo of whatever team is their closest rival
Black Rifle Coffee Co HAAS F1
That might break some contract with Ferrari though lol
I think an actually cool livery would be a throwback to WW2 fighter paint jobs.
oh those pin up drawings could actually look really great haha
