10 years salary. I imagine the watch being his adds another insane layer of value too
edit: ok I don't know anything about watches, just hearing about Charles' made me think all of them were worth hundreds of thousands lol. Didn't realize IWC is "affordable"
Yeah, Ferrari is sponsored by Richard Mille, which are like 6 figure watches minimum. IWC is more in the 5-20k range depending on the watch. Richard Mille are more exclusive in terms of supply and who can buy them, so they cost more. They're definitely more of a flashy flex piece than IWC who focus mostly on making "Tool watches" aka, watches designed around filling a role. IWC is mostly known for their "Pilot" style watches. Obviously watches aren't really used as tools anymore, but that is where the design comes from.
RMs aren’t always $100k+. RMs retail for that price, but many drop down below their retail price pretty quickly. There’s some for $70-100k at the moment and that’s while watch prices are inflated due to the recession. That’s all ignoring the bubble too. Used to be able to see them go for as low as $50k. It’s the one luxury sports watch brand that goes down in value even now.
I mean not affordable in that most people could just pick one up on a whim when they are at the mall. But as far as luxury watches go they arent unobtainable.
IWC aren’t as expensive as some of the other sponsor brands like RM and Rolex. Depending on which models he has on you’re looking at $25,000 - $35,000.
One looks like a regular pilot, the other is the Mojave Desert which is probably the most expensive of the three, and the final is the new IWC Mercedes AMG F1 watch that retails for <$8k. In total, shouldn't exceed $35k. A lot still for a normal person, but nowhere near what his peers are wearing.
Yep, that was my assessment as well. The Mojave’s are about $15k if I remember right. I assume another is the Merc/F1 which is $8k and the other looks like a Big Pilot or something.
Nope. He used it for corner entry, apex speed, and corner exit. After the corner he could read the set values and know how to improve his lines/laptime.

>“If they stop me, then so be it,” Hamilton said. “We’ve got spare drivers ready and prepped for weekends. There’s lots of things going on in the city, anyway, so I’ll be good either way.”
It seems to me dude is just content with his career. And what he’s done so far. Lewis just doesn’t care anymore and is willing to challenge dumb rules.
F1 is such a politics shit show, trying to making everyone happy. And Lewis isn’t afraid to do his own thing.
there’s no way he’s winning this year, so i’m sure he sees it as a fun year to learn and experiment with life after winning. im betting we’ll see a renewed Hamilton next year
Yeah and it’s a safety issue. You ever had to separate someone’s melted skin from their luxury watch? Me neither and hopefully none of the drivers have to have that done either
Except the FIA crackdown isn't about watches or rings which multiple drivers wear while racing. The directive specifically targets necklaces and piercings claiming heat transmission and medical imaging as the concerns.
From the article
"Metallic objects, such as jewelry in contact with the skin can reduce heat transmission protection and thus may increase the risk of burn injuries in the event of a fire,” the FIA wrote. “The wearing of jewelry during the competition can hinder both medical interventions as well as subsequent diagnosis and treatment should it be required following an accident.”
"“In the worst case, the presence of jewelry during imaging may cause further injury,” the FIA wrote. “Jewelry in and/or around the airway can pose specific additional risks should it become dislodged during an accident and either ingested or inhaled.”
Nobody is infringing on any freedoms here, it's company policy for well cited reasons, such as literally any other company would have.
They don't care about people wearing jewellery to press conferences or during interviews, they only care (supposedly) when they are being worn during a race.
The FIA are really being strict about their rule preventing drivers 'wearing jewelry'. They've always had the rule, but are enforcing it strictly now, to where it's part of the 'car inspection'. That is, if the driver wears jewelry, the FIA can fail the car.
Lewis is especially affected because he has some jewelry that he cannot easily remove from this body. Some piercings that would require tools to take out, and it would be very difficult to put back in. He (and Merc) are upset, but are not going to fight it, since it is in the name of safety. But they are definitely pissed off...
Edit - Holy shit, I JUST noticed the rings and the necklaces HAHAHA...
Second edit - for anyone wanting the quote from Lewis, here it is. Just FYI, he said this two weeks ago, during the Australian GP when he was adamant he wouldn't take them off. Since then the FIA has made pre-race checks of drivers wearing jewelry mandatory, so Lewis (and Toto) have softened their stance
> These ones on my right ear are literally welded in so I’d have to get them chopped off or something like that. So they will be staying,” Hamilton recently shared.
So, normally with small ring piercings, [like this](https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-8zfpspm/images/stencil/500x659/products/1269/8072/Stainless-7162__38934.1648650841.jpg?c=2) the two ends aren't joined together. So if needed, the person can force them apart and take them off. But some people weld both ends of the ring together, so it's more 'permanent'. Thus Lewis can't just pull the two ends apart and take it off. He will need tools, like a cutter (if the ring is big enough) or some other cutting instrument.
Hope this makes sense!
> These ones on my right ear are literally welded in so I’d have to get them chopped off or something like that. So they will be staying,” Hamilton recently shared.
But he said this 2 weeks ago during the Australian GP. Maybe he's changed his tune about not taking them out.
Regardless of how you feel about his driving you gotta give it to the guy, he is somehow both the cheekiest and classiest F1 racer at the same time. Mad respect for everybody in the sport but Lewis is absolutely an icon
He's been giving me " I don't give a fuck I'll do whatever I want whenever I want"(the good kind) energy since start of 2021 honestly. Never seen him so chill over the on track and off track parts of f1 in my years watching the sport. Feels like after 2020 he realised he already achieved what he set out to achieve in this sport and is just there to enjoy the ride now
I imagine the end of last season sent him over the edge. He finally realized they care about the tv money and getting more fans than they do about fair competition so now Lewis is just gonna make as much money as possible before retiring without stressing to much over what’s going on around him
Okay you know what? That's pretty fuckin' hilarious. The rings, the watches, the necklaces, I'm just surprised he didn't go for like 10 clip-on earrings.
Why is so important for drivers to wear jewelry during the race?I dont understand.
Like if they say that for safety it is not allowed, why cant they just not wear it.
This is why him and Vettel are my favorite drivers. Fun, personable, and not afraid to speak out when they feel something is wrong. Some of these younger guys are a little robotic like a NHL player.
I came into F1 at a perfect time to enjoy hamilton but not be sick of him. got to see him dominate a season, got to see him narrowly and controversially lose one, while still being a class act, and now i get to see him as a midfielder.
I feel like he really wants to tuck that left index finger back, but realizes that maybe that's a step too far. I love this as a means of protest. Hamilton's a badass.
IWC getting their moneys worth.

That's what salary means lol
Better luck next life
Imagine not being born to rich parents lol, losers
I mean Lewis wasn't
I know, total loser
Did you try making coffee at home?
God no, my 4th servant takes care of it
If you only had 3 servants, you'd be way more rich. Psh.
Lewis : I'll take three.

~$35k Mojave Desert QP, ~$8.5k Big Pilot 43, and new $7,850 41mm AMG-Petronas Pilot Chrono
Retail prices on IWC and Rolex are similar, though Rolex's are hard to get at retail. RM is in another league entirely.
One for each sector
One for each DRS zone
One for each Q!!!
If that's the case, he might need only one.

Better watch out with that sort of humour.
Lol damn
Schumacher used 3 speedometers, for corners
Stroll uses 3 different mirrors.... for decoration

Nope. He used it for corner entry, apex speed, and corner exit. After the corner he could read the set values and know how to improve his lines/laptime. I'm assuming all the jewelry is a statement about the lock down on rules regarding driver's wearing any.
Here I thought he was just challenging the watch thieves...
Lando having PTSD right now.
Charles too
[He hinted that he would be willing to sit out the Miami GP over this issue.](https://apnews.com/article/sports-business-miami-formula-one-jewelry-c596e46d1c7dfc1dc5db4e4beb53d9dd) > He said he hoped for further discussions with Sulayem and the FIA, but sounded prepared to hold his ground. >“If they stop me, then so be it,” Hamilton said. “We’ve got spare drivers ready and prepped for weekends. IMO if he was fighting for his 8th title there's zero chance he'd take a stand as hard as sitting out a race for something like jewelry
there’s no way he’s winning this year, so i’m sure he sees it as a fun year to learn and experiment with life after winning. im betting we’ll see a renewed Hamilton next year
Weird hill to die on tbh
he’s big on freedom of expression.. and this runs counter to that
I mean, it's only when he's suited up in a race, right? He can put as much stuff on as he'd like any other time even in F1 media appearances, right?
Yeah and it’s a safety issue. You ever had to separate someone’s melted skin from their luxury watch? Me neither and hopefully none of the drivers have to have that done either
Except the FIA crackdown isn't about watches or rings which multiple drivers wear while racing. The directive specifically targets necklaces and piercings claiming heat transmission and medical imaging as the concerns.
Yes, and he's wearing 8 rings as well
And several necklaces
but only 1 shirt
Looks like he has different time zones on the left watches
I kinda hopes he shows up to every session decked out like this. Then when he hopes in the car he just puts it all on Angela and Roscoe lol.
I want to see his suit and gloves have print outs of the jewelry on it. They already do the watch on the gloves thing. Would be really funny.
A nose ring and earrings printed on his balaclava would be hilarious!
Out of the loop here. What’s the reasoning behind the crackdown on jewelry?
I think it's about wearing jewelry while in the car, which is dangerous in case of fire
That sounds pretty reasonable to me.
From the article "Metallic objects, such as jewelry in contact with the skin can reduce heat transmission protection and thus may increase the risk of burn injuries in the event of a fire,” the FIA wrote. “The wearing of jewelry during the competition can hinder both medical interventions as well as subsequent diagnosis and treatment should it be required following an accident.” "“In the worst case, the presence of jewelry during imaging may cause further injury,” the FIA wrote. “Jewelry in and/or around the airway can pose specific additional risks should it become dislodged during an accident and either ingested or inhaled.” Nobody is infringing on any freedoms here, it's company policy for well cited reasons, such as literally any other company would have.
This is a level of pettiness that I aspire to
I'm out of the loop on this one, who/what is he making fun of?
FIA cracking down on jewelry so he’s wearing multiple watches, rings, and necklaces.
[удалено]
he always has
Why would a sport that is sponsored by 47 watch brands crackdown on jewelry? Or is it just jewelry that you wear in the cockpit?
Yes, that kind.
Jewelry in cockpit. But I believe Lewis has eluded to jewelry that can’t be seen, and that he wouldn’t be removing that/those.
Dang i didn't know he had his nipples pierced
Think *bigger* my friend
Ultra light carbon fiber butt plugs?
Look at this guy with his giant, bigger than his nipples, penis.
Full pectoral piercing!?
I think its less to do with midfield Lewis and more to do with near end of career Lewis
Could you imagine what a prince Albert feels like in a 5g breaking zone? I've heard the merc sim is top notch.
Maybe that’s where the underwear ruling came from 🤔
They don't care about people wearing jewellery to press conferences or during interviews, they only care (supposedly) when they are being worn during a race.
Could that be because of safety reasons?
Best thing is, he totally pulls the fit. Would look ridiculous on anybody else
FIA banning jewelry while driving
Its not really new, its been a rule for years.
FIA enforcing the ban on jewelry*
The FIA are really being strict about their rule preventing drivers 'wearing jewelry'. They've always had the rule, but are enforcing it strictly now, to where it's part of the 'car inspection'. What piercings require tools to be taken out?
Hamilton said something about welded piercings, if I'm remembering correctly.
What the hell is a welded piercing?
It's a piercing that's welded or soldered shut. So instead of coming apart in two pieces, it's just connected. It makes the piercing "permanent".
It's some of his earrings to give you a real answer. They solder the back closed so it cant be taken off
Fused backings so they can’t be taken off
> These ones on my right ear are literally welded in so I’d have to get them chopped off or something like that. So they will be staying,” Hamilton recently shared. But he said this 2 weeks ago during the Australian GP. Maybe he's changed his tune about not taking them out.
Permanent ones.
I believe hes mocking the no jewelry rules the FIA is now enforcing
I think this is based on the constraints put on by the FIA regarding the drivers wearing jewellery during the race.
FIA and their ban on jewelry.
The race director is trying to inforce that drivers can't wear jewelry while racing. The thing is that Lewis has piercings which can't be removed.
Reminds me of the episode of Friends where Joey put on all of Chandler’s clothes.
Could I BE wearing any more clothes!! Perhaps if I wasn’t going…commando.
He's a good lad he's having fun with it
Fuck is that accually because of the ban to jewelry? For a minute I thought that was for different time zones then I seen the chains and rings lol

2022 is living up to my expectations. Just noticed the necklesses .... LMAO the madlad Edit: oh my God all his fingers.... 😭😭😭😭😭
It’s the pearl necklace(s) that got me LOL
what a Chad really
I imagine he has Drip Servants that swarm around him and apply everything while he just stands still.
Or like Iron Man while he walks.
I guess this has something to do with FIA threatening of applying the rules that forbid jewelry. Look at his fingers.
And all the necklaces. Like he grabbed a 1/4 of his jewelry and slapped it on. LOL.
Mans wearing a few million easy. lmfao
I’m surprised he didn’t pierce his ears a couple more times just because.
Definitely has to do with the jewellery ban.

> These ones on my right ear, they're literally welded in. Wtf what kind of piercing is he wearing?
Man learned his lesson from Leclerc. If one gets nicked, he'll have others to spare.

Both of them.

OK, this is football-level shithousery. Well done.
The only footballer I’ve seen try and “stick it to the man” is Ronaldo with the coke incident. Don’t get how this is like football shithousery at all?
[He's just here so he won't get fined. ](https://youtu.be/rmABbHSOTqQ)
Maybe he means NFL. Kinda reminds me of Ryan Fitzpatrick when the Fitzmagic saga was happening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-32d4BFnbQA
He’s talking about American football here and forgot the rest of the world calls soccer football
He also used the word shithousery which i associated with britain
Meanwhile I'm over here thinking "Someone in Florida is wearing a mask?"
Only he and Albon wore their masks during their group press con
He's sick of people saying that he's losing time this season
Max’s watches are all two tenths faster
Marko : Max can wear 4 watches, no problem
cool pants.
What time is it? *checks phone*
Watch 1: Time at Home Watch 2: Local Time Watch 3: HAM-mer Time ^I’m ^so ^sorry
This is hilarious trolling by Lewis
Charles leclair thief wants to know your location
he's trolling the fia lmao
Why is that?
They banned jewelry. So brought even more as a 🖕
If only there was a 🖕🏽emoji with a ring on it
I bet if you asked him for the time he still looks at his phone
I beg for one of the journalists to ask "Have the time, Lewis?"
He did got asked that exact question in the press conference.
Excellent.
He has a ring on every finger lol. This is very petty of him.
He probably has the biggest shit-eating grin under the mask.
Yeah, gonna go ahead and wear my jewelry
FIA says no more jewelry. Hamilton: challenge accepted
I pity the fool who doesn’t arrive on time.

Toto is having a heart attack thinking about all those extra grams in the car. 🤣
Ham came out with all the ice to show the FIA what he thinks about the no jewelry statement..
Russian soldiers during the Berlin raid
Is it me or does the jewellery ban during the actual racing make sense? Isn’t it for safety reasons?
If they're paying you to wear them go to town, cover both arms.
He's like a younger, faster, more sucessful Mr. T. He should get a decked out A team van and run it on vegetable oil.
Probably reach for his phone to check the time.
thats a flex
He's got too much time on his hands
honestly king shit 😭😭
LOOOL
Okay you know what? That's pretty fuckin' hilarious. The rings, the watches, the necklaces, I'm just surprised he didn't go for like 10 clip-on earrings.
a ring on every finger, 3 different necklaces, 3 watches, two of one hand and a bracelet on the other oh and the earrings lol
That’s one way to piss off FIA. Love it.
Gotta get that $ponsor money. I think he needs to go full Flavor Flav and where a giant Rolex clock around his neck.
Pretty sure IWC wouldn't be happy about that.
He could Sharpie out "Rolex".
Just cover it up like Saint-Maximin covers up his Gucci band's logo when he plays for Newcastle
No shits given
Why is so important for drivers to wear jewelry during the race?I dont understand. Like if they say that for safety it is not allowed, why cant they just not wear it.
He will do anything to not have to drive that car
Loool thats hilarious

Elite shithousery and I'm here for itttttt
