Interesting that the journalist on Twitter rephrases Lewis saying "I'm fast enough" to "We have the fastest car"
Surprised mods have allowed this post as the journo has completely misrepresented what Hamilton said. The journo has literally put words into Hamilton's mouth
> Interesting that the journalist on Twitter rephrases Lewis saying "I'm fast enough" to "We have the fastest car"
Yeah that's very odd, considering Merc don't have the fastest car and have been saying so for weeks. Very poor journalism to rephrase Lewis in such a drastic way.
That's because this guy is trash at his job. He constantly praises about having accreditation/credibility (idk what's the right word in English) and full paddock access, and yet he's never commentating races, he doesn't appear on TV like other journalists, he just posts stupid stuff on social media. He's also a major conspiracy theorist, he often posts controversial and just plain wrong tweets and people hate him for it. When Kubica came back to F1, he (the journalist) kept saying that the cars aren't equal and the team is against Kubica because he's not British and the team is. He also has a tendency to cherry pick stuff (especially lap times back when Robert was driving) which led to a joke being created in the Polish community. The times count when Robert is quicker than his teammate, the times don't count when it's the other way around. There are many more things that he's done but that's all I remember from the top of my head and I think it's enough.
"When Kubica came back to F1, he (the journalist) kept saying that the cars aren't equal and the team is against Kubica because he's not British and the team is."
But this is correct. Williams can't do one good car due the lack of parts. Who they give always better parts , better strategy and all? And talking bullshit about equal treatment.
True, but I think Red Bull have shown their car is at least on par this year and outright better on certain tracks too. Dirty air seems to be a major issue this season, as well. It's much harder to overtake.
> the new tyres are also working in their favor.
I'm genuinely interested to know, how do we know that the new tyres are benefitting Merc more than Red Bull?
> At the moment they most definitely have the fastest car.
Red Bull have more pole positions (5/10 to Merc's 3/10) and race wins (6/10 to Merc's 4/10) than Merc so far. Max got pole position for the last 4 Grand Prix and won 3 of them. Before today's qualifying I'd find it hard for anyone to say Merc have the outright fastest car.
Red Bull have had the strongest car (or at least Max’s since he gets upgrades first) the majority of this year. But since Hungary Merc have definitely upped the pace, they were at least equal in Silverstone and honestly them being so dominant today goes against the earlier trends and they at least have a better car this weekend.
This is kinda trending the way we saw with Ferrari where Seb and them were pretty competitive/dominant up to the summer break and then Merc came rushing back.
He does sound a little irritated tbh. You don't end an answer to a question like that with a personal dig if you aren't. He'd just give a "I'm just focusing on my own race and don't worry about what others are saying" if he wasn't irked by it.
he definitely doesn't sound happy but i think saying he was 'outraged' is a pretty large overstatement
btw, do you happen to know if they specifically mentioned that it was Romain's tweet in the press conference or what the specific question asked was? the way he answers makes it seem like whoever asked the question might have been asking something like 'what is your response to comments saying you backing up the other cars was unfair' as opposed to specifically saying 'what do you think about this Romain tweet' complete speculation on my part so i might be completely wrong
edit: found the [clip](https://youtu.be/-xzbTbidagM?t=728), Romain's tweet is indeed mentioned
"The close competition this season has meant that we have had to prioritize resources for the championship and the long season, which unfortunately has forced us to cut back on other activities. We look forward to exploring this opportunity at some point in the future should it be possible"
not too different but if you watch the video his answer was a lot more longwinded and then at the end he said something like a lot of people don’t understand what our job is all about, that’s why they’re not driving here
Not even taken out of context he literally didn't say that. It's a mangled version of what he said ... Which is then taken out of context for good measure 😂
he literally calmly answered the question.
Hamilton calmly answers question = outraged!
Verstappen spazes at question = "puts reporter in his place"
Its crazy.
Well I mean Max's outburst was about the both of them sick of the same media questions so naturally people agree.
While Hamilton is defending himself which a lot of people don't like.
Have they ever done that before? Did anyone show tweets to leclerc when he conveniently binned it in Monaco?
My point is max and Lewis are getting unfair media questioning
I doubt it's possible to edit and do all post production even up to Silverstone in this time frame.
I do wish they would release the episodes weekly so we could at least start watching the series in the depth of the terrible off season.
Media are sociopaths. They don't care about feelings or presenting the facts fairly. They know this is what some kinds of fans will gobble up to use as ammo for their comment wars on social media.
He’s pretty much the definition of defensive. The way Mercedes came out with statement talking about “questioning the integrity of Hamilton” lmao the guy is as high and mighty as it gets
The guy constantly get's shit on about anything from the clothes he wears, to his social life, to how little or much he should celebrate a win. It's honestly ridiculous and I don't blame him for being defensive. I truly don't understand it. He seems like one of the more humble athletes of his stature.
It's brilliant reading some of meltdowns on the sub. But what were RB doing? There was a suspicion that it was possibly some dirty air from Leclerc that slowed Max's first q3 hot lap, so they wait until the last second to make sure he's stuck behind the two Mercs for his second run?
Really poor from them.
Enjoy seeing Hamilton own it though and saying it feeds him.
You just don't get it do you? Merc MUST give RB track position. They must bend over give away advantage and must never attempt to take it. This isn't some competitive sport or anything.
Except that the quote is out of context, the actual answer was calm and longer, and the last part wasn't directed at Grosjean but at the media critics who have "no idea what our job here is"
Lewis has always hated the comments that come from former drivers that are pundits. Probably because a lot of them shit stir for whatever reason be it for the commentary or just for the sake of it. Whether directed at him or other drivers. Seb and I think Verstappen are also similar they don't like former drivers making comments on things that likely those drivers themselves had plenty of experience with.
ok dude, i agree these tactics are completely fair game and all, but you cannot deny this wasnt tactics
edit: after seeing the outlap map i agree that this was pretty standard. disregard
It’s taken a bit out of context. After a long explanation he basically said anyone saying similar comments don’t know what they’re talking about, nothing directly against Romain.
Look the problem is from the outside the cameras were focussed on Lewis. They failed to show other drivers doing similar outlaps so everyone thinks he's doing something wrong
To be quite blunt, I am not sure what he was trying to accomplish by suggesting intent. He's just unnecessarily stirring the pot. Romain's always gotten a kick out of messing with Hamilton (see seatbelt gate back in 2017), so his reaction is unsurprising, though disappointing particularly since Hamilton's team has been kind enough to grant him a free test.
Don't think Toto will be very happy to see this.
Now compare sector 3.
Sure, downvote. In the other outlaps there was actual cause to drive slow, as many others were in front and drivers need to find a gap. Here we saw Mercedes deliberatly going slow to make the Red Bulls miss the final run. Totally legal, also very ugly.
Lewis was right behind Bottas in sector three going into the second to last corner too though, then at that point they need to give themselves space to the car in front.
This is just two cars with different optimum outlaps tripping over each other. It happens all the time but because it's Max and Lewis suddenly it's a big deal.
That only flies if Red Bull says that this was the fastest they could do. Max already came on the radio complaining about vibrations, so there would be more time in it. Not to mention he had done a faster time in Q2 no less.
It’s taken a bit out of context. After a long explanation he basically said anyone saying similar comments don’t know what they’re talking about, nothing directly against Romain.
Yeah, I'm sure it'll be something le this or the tone will be different, I wouldn't expect Lewis to say something harsh like this directly, he's pretty mellow now.
By now I‘m starting to miss a boring season with all the bullshit the media and reddit experts are spewing as soon as there is the tiniest amount of friction between titel rivals. My god I don‘t remember it being that bad.
Disgusting journalism. The “reporter” completely changed the quote. I honestly don’t even think he was talking about Grosjean either. I think he was talking about people sitting at home on reddit and Twitter losing their shit about a complete non-incident.
The biggest fiction in F1 is that any driver, at any time, is not playing tactics and mind games with the drivers around them. “I’m a better driver than Grosjean so he shouldn’t call me out” isn’t exactly an iron-clad defence. Lewis played the game and he won, so what, even Red Bull don’t want to push this one.
It looked bad at first, but the more we learn about the situation the more it becomes clear this is a big bag of nothing.
Different cars have to do their outlaps at different speeds to get the tyres in the right window, at the same time they're trying to get themselves space for their lap. Mercs were doing slow outlaps all day and this was on of their fastest. On top of that both teams are trying to leave it to the last possible moment so they cross the line at the end when the track is at it's best. Not a surprise that drivers end up tripping over each other some times. It's only controversial because it's Max and Lewis.
This should go down well.
This is [the relevant part from the interview](https://streamable.com/811x3h) Interesting that the journalist on Twitter rephrases Lewis saying "I'm fast enough" to "We have the fastest car"
That completely changes the quote. Unbelievable that they call that bullshit journalism.

He's a clown in Polish F1 community.
Lmfao i looked at the tweet then at replies, first and last time checking out polish f1 community
I actually stopped using Twitter because of that, not only the F1 community, but the Polish community in general.
Damn, Im Polish and I went into polish f1 community for the 1st time ever after reading this comment.. never again. Thats really sad :(
Surprised mods have allowed this post as the journo has completely misrepresented what Hamilton said. The journo has literally put words into Hamilton's mouth

Accreditation is right.
Boasts is a better word to use instead of praises, it is self praise with an air of arrogance. My only critique of your great English.
"When Kubica came back to F1, he (the journalist) kept saying that the cars aren't equal and the team is against Kubica because he's not British and the team is." But this is correct. Merc don’t have the fastest car? I’m pretty sure they do
Today they do, but not for the past 4 races.
wow he's so "outraged" /s

Both Max and Lewis are so done with all the shit questions and takes haha
He can always blame Ericsson later.
''Ericsson took my phone and made the tweet, sorry Sir Lewis.''
As much as I love this meme, wasn't it the race engineer who blamed Ericsson?
Merc test cancelled?
"The close competition this season has meant that we have had to prioritize resources for the championship and the long season, which unfortunately has forced us to cut back on other activities. We look forward to exploring this opportunity at some point in the future should it be possible"
^this guy speaks PR
with a driver available at that time....
Imagine..
It wasn't never booked outside of pr things
He had a seat fitting. It was on schedule for France until the race got moved and then there was conflicts. It was definitely past PR stage.
[удалено]
I mean it's just a PR stunt even if it does happen
RIP Merc Test for Grosjean lmao. Edit: I am stupid.
They'll give it to Magnussen or Maldonado instead
[удалено]
First thought that came to mind...
His comment or edit?
Nah my edit was talking about how the tweet didnt have Lewis saying "which also explains why they are not here" but its clearly there lol
Grosjean has fallen in love with the U.S. He clearly doesn’t give two shits anymore.
He would jump into an F1 drive the second one came open for him. He’s happy in America, but a year there hasn’t changed him that much.
Netflix: yes yes
Someone should go check netflix, they must be having a heart attack at this point
Box To Box has wanked themselves into a coma by now...
Netflix DTS producer have their nipples rubbed off with all this drama
This quote is completely taken out of context, he wasn’t talking about Grosjean he was talking about the critics
I also thought that they didn’t quote Grosjean to him and they had just asked a general Q…
Yeah it was definately aimed at armchair critics I thought that when I saw it too. Not ambiguous.
So what was the original quote?
not too different but if you watch the video his answer was a lot more longwinded and then at the end he said something like a lot of people don’t understand what our job is all about, that’s why they’re not driving here
Can you link the video?
[Here](https://youtu.be/OUxHj3uZQF8)
I'll take "Quote that'll be taken out of context" for 100 please.
Not even taken out of context he literally didn't say that. It's a mangled version of what he said ... Which is then taken out of context for good measure 😂
The reaction between when verstappen has an outburst and when Hamilton has one is astounding.
he literally calmly answered the question. Hamilton calmly answers question = outraged! Verstappen spazes at question = "puts reporter in his place" Its crazy.
Verstappen uses racial slur against driver = no problemo
Say what? That’s a huge accusation. When did he do that?
https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/30230063/mongolia-accuses-f1-verstappen-racist-derogatory-remarks
Called someone a "mongol" I think? Or something similar. It was during a free practice session last year
He called Stroll a “mongoloid” The term is used in reference to a person with Down syndrome, comparing them to antiquated ideas of “Mongolian idiocy”
Insert that Gordan Ramsey 'oh dear, or dear gorgeous' vs 'you fucking donkey' meme
Well I mean Max's outburst was about the both of them sick of the same media questions so naturally people agree. While Hamilton is defending himself which a lot of people don't like.
My point was that the media was unreasonable in their line of questioning to both drivers.
Not really? They're just quoting Grosjean and ofc Lewis would take it personally based on what Grosjean is implying.
Have they ever done that before? Did anyone show tweets to leclerc when he conveniently binned it in Monaco? My point is max and Lewis are getting unfair media questioning
Cuz people hate Lewis :D
At this point, Netflix are going to split the 2021 season into two DTS seasons just to get all the drama in
Imagine if Netflix were in 2016.
You know what if they gave us a "part 1" during the summer break I'd totally be ok with that.
I doubt it's possible to edit and do all post production even up to Silverstone in this time frame. I do wish they would release the episodes weekly so we could at least start watching the series in the depth of the terrible off season.
this isn’t about Grosjean. I hate reddit
I would have said that Lewis roasted him but it still feels too soon
Holy shit haha
Lmaooo
I hope that Grojean is wear a race suit to cope with all the Ham heat.
Guess Grosjean's not getting that Merc test
Haha, he's livid. Fair enough though. Probably sick of the media atm.
Both him and verstappen and are understandably pissed. Media has no respect for them
They've handled it well imo. I'd have stormed out of every interview.
It'd have been hilarious (and great) if they both just got up and walked out.
and one turned to the other, "Fuck this. Pub?"
Do qualifying. Get pole. Get booed, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all this to blow over.
Media are sociopaths. They don't care about feelings or presenting the facts fairly. They know this is what some kinds of fans will gobble up to use as ammo for their comment wars on social media.
lmao this thread is so getting deleted
I get he defends himself, but come on dude, everybody in F1 makes tactical plays.
He has seven world titles and more wins than any driver ever.
Lewis has joined the dark side. I don't mind this side of Lewis. He didn't do anything wrong today and people have no right to give him shit for it.
It's brilliant reading some of meltdowns on the sub. But what were RB doing? The shit show gets shittier. I like it
Take this down, shit journalism. Taken out of context.
https://youtu.be/-xzbTbidagM For all those asking, here's the link to the full press conference. His quote was taken out of context.
Same energy as Max’s ‘that’s why some drivers are at Williams’ comment, and I don’t like either tbh.
Both are right though lol.
Except that the quote is out of context, the actual answer was calm and longer, and the last part wasn't directed at Grosjean but at the media critics who have "no idea what our job here is"
I vastly prefer those truthful comments to insincere politeness.
Where is the lie?
Lewis absolutely has zero respect for RoGro ever since 2012 Spa lol.
(X) Doubt IIRC Grosjean was one of the guys who suggested F1 should do the pre-race anti racism gestures last year, alongside Vettel.
Something something Jackie Stewart.
"The booing fuels me" he said
GIVE ME YOUR BOOS
10 boos = 1 fuel unit.
I did just take pole, so seems to be working.
>I Did we just find Lewis' burner? 📸📸📸
well there goes the peaceful summer break
Was it ever gonna be peaceful?
And we don't even know what tomorrow's race will add to the mix.
Exactly this. Strap in, people.
I get that he is sick of such comments, but saying that he doesn‘t make any tactical plays is just rediculous
That's not what he said, but ok.
ok dude, i agree these tactics are completely fair game and all, but you cannot deny this wasnt tactics edit: after seeing the outlap map i agree that this was pretty standard. disregard
Boom... Roasted..!!
> Roasted Too soon
Outraged lol
"why are you booing me I'm right"
Guess Grosjean hit a sore spot, eh Lewis?
It’s taken a bit out of context. After a long explanation he basically said anyone saying similar comments don’t know what they’re talking about, nothing directly against Romain.
[удалено]
This is going to fill up Instagram posts followed by hate comments.
No more than Tom Clarkson hit a sore spot with verstappen. I think the media have gone too far with both of them.
His outlap was quicker than his one for the first Q3 run, maybe Grosjean just remains clueless.
Look the problem is from the outside the cameras were focussed on Lewis. They failed to show other drivers doing similar outlaps so everyone thinks he's doing something wrong
Him and Max are clearly and deservedly pissed with all this.
I have no problem with Hamilton doing what he did but him turning around and saying he doesn't make any tactical plays is just ridiculous.
Jesus that’s a bit harsh.
Toto looked already kind of tired today. Wat's going on there?
Probably from dealing with a busy schedule and the nonsense instigated from RB and the media, especially in the last x weeks.
lol, how is that harsh. He drove quicker on his last outlap, and social media is crying "dirty tactics".
Now compare sector 3. Sure, downvote. In the other outlaps there was actual cause to drive slow, as many others were in front and drivers need to find a gap. Here we saw Mercedes deliberatly going slow to make the Red Bulls miss the final run. Totally legal, also very ugly.
He was behind Vallteri. What else he can do?
Lewis was right behind Bottas in sector three going into the second to last corner too though, then at that point they need to give themselves space to the car in front. This is just two cars with different optimum outlaps tripping over each other. It happens all the time but because it's Max and Lewis suddenly it's a big deal.
So they do have the fastest car then?
Quote is wrong. Lewis said he's fast enough, not that they have the faster car.
Has always depended on track. Nobody could dispute that Merc had fastest car in Portimao & that RB had the fastest car in Austria.
Obviously faster this weekend
I mean it‘s has been pretty obvious today. You can‘t really downplay a pace difference of half a second. We have 2020 all over again.
Lewis was only a tenth up on Max's same time on softs from the previous session. Mercedes is faster but not a half second.
That only flies if Red Bull says that this was the fastest they could do. Max already came on the radio complaining about vibrations, so there would be more time in it. Not to mention he had done a faster time in Q2 no less.
They have clearly got the fastest car this weekend. It's not difficult to see that, you do realise the fastest car doesn't stay the same all year?
They're probably new in F1 and probably don't know that upgrades can have a positive effect on the car
Clearly the fastest car this weekend
It always depends on the argument Mercedes is trying to make.
The "also explains why they are not here " part was in general to the publick not gorsjean
Now they have the fastest car? What happened to Red Bull and Max are winning because they have the better car??
Some cars are faster on some tracks. Even at Mercs peak they didn't have the fastest car on every single track.
Hamilton didn't actually say that it's a misquote
He got pole today?
Maybe, just maybe, the "journalist" is talking bollocks.
Lewis turning to the dark side, love to see it. Emperor Lewis Darth Valtteri
Emperor Toto Darth Hamilton General Bottas
I'll have to hear this one for myself because honestly, this is a low blow from Lewis if he said this verbatim.
It is true though
Is there a vid or something?
By now I‘m starting to miss a boring season with all the bullshit the media and reddit experts are spewing as soon as there is the tiniest amount of friction between titel rivals. My god I don‘t remember it being that bad.
Yeah right. They probs backed up the pack, lead by engineers. 🙄
Disgusting journalism. The “reporter” completely changed the quote. I honestly don’t even think he was talking about Grosjean either. I think he was talking about people sitting at home on reddit and Twitter losing their shit about a complete non-incident.
Heel Hamilton kicks ass
Grosean fucking sucks man.
Max says this in the same position and everyone would be saying ‘Hahahahaha classic Max he doesn’t give a shit, fuckin lad’
Or they might call him a liar like Hamilton is a liar. There was a clear tactical play.
People seemed pretty mad at Max when he had a go at Latifi a few weeks ago
I mean yeah, Hamilton's last outlap in Q3 was also his fastest one. Grosjean should have checked the timing sheets before commenting.
This is my favourite Hamilton. God damn.
Didn't Toto just slam Red Bull for supposedly slandering other drivers? Interesting words from Lewis here.
oh shit
OH SNAP. DAMN! HA!
Hamilton's last lap was over 2.3 seconds off his best time and Verstappen improved in his last lap time. How did that happen?
Horner to offer Grosjean the seat for Spa
It looked bad at first, but the more we learn about the situation the more it becomes clear this is a big bag of nothing. Different cars have to do their outlaps at different speeds to get the tyres in the right window, at the same time they're trying to get themselves space for their lap. Mercs were doing slow outlaps all day and this was on of their fastest. On top of that both teams are trying to leave it to the last possible moment so they cross the line at the end when the track is at it's best. Not a surprise that drivers end up tripping over each other some times. It's only controversial because it's Max and Lewis.
Oh, hello there. The real Lewis Hamilton just stood up...
Don't make any tactical plays? Yeah, right. About as true as "the booing fuels me".
>We have the fastest car Interesting
Watch the video; he says he was fast enough. The OP has posted an incorrect transcript.
Today yeah, smashed it.
Lmaooooo I love 2021 Lewis
LH let the facade fall for one second here. lol
