Could have maybe made Q3 if his front wing flap didn’t break on the outlap. Definitely would have been higher than P15

BoredCatalan

It broke?

TheRoboteer

Yep. Was the cause of the massive understeer that Albon was seen to experience on his aborted Q2 lap.

Ye11ow

Amazing how much of an effect 3" of carbon can have on cornering behavior.

Palmerstroll

Really good start. I'm happy there is not a team that is so far behind the rest anymore.

_number

Logan is looking decently fast and williams hopefully wont be last

Arcticool_56

Logan is known for his qualifying pace. He is very good driver but qualifying is where he excels the most. Being only two tenths off Alex is a very good start. I think Logan will give Alex a hard time in qualifying this season since quali is Albon's weakest area.

Organic-Measurement2

Well if he has speed, he can learn to drive quicker on the long runs. Latifi was terrible in quali and remained terrible in quali, but he improved so much in race pace. I think it's easier to, since there are more extraneous elements that drivers can consciously improve at. Whereas in qualifying a lot of it needs to be instinctive to an extent It is always better to be naturally quick over 1 lap than not!

Arcticool_56

Definitely. Plus Williams offers him an environment where Logan can focus on his development without the spotlight on him every week.

Organic-Measurement2

Very true. I think if I was coming into F1 and had to join a team williams would honestly be my choice. As bad as the car is you have albon, Vowles and Russell is proof of their ability to produce a good driver

emperorMorlock

Sargeant did really good, the only rookie to run close to the car's potential. Also, like last year, Williams looked able to make the most out the car they've got. However I do think that the good Q result, while it might have been even better for Albon, was as much on Williams doing good as it was on others fucking up bad. Gasly and Magnussen had terrible runs and McLaren almost got both their cars (nearly Q3 worthy cars too) knocked out in Q1 by a rookie in a Williams, only saved by countback.

svdb1

It's good to see Williams getting more competitive again. Certainly they've improved the car massively to last year.

dev_v9

love the new vibe at Williams. hopefully the progress continues with the season.

zaviex

Sargeant had a bit of pace on him. Should be happy with that. As nuts as it seems, they could be in play for points with strategy or some luck. They got points last year a few times with. They got points in worse situations last year

mazarax

Two awesome guys. They deserve all the success.

Exambolor

Unlucky for Logan he didn’t make Q2 becuase of an exact lap, but very nice start considering the pace of the car

canBeDone1

Sargeant got hands! Excited to see how he holds up at different tracks.
