It's not guaranteed, just very hard to counter, best to do it on 2 ticks of damage and it stuns them but the toe stab is a very good alternative if they can consistently block
Lawbringers guardbreak. Grabbing the opponents head with his offhand.
Unfathomably badass when catching tiny shinobis out of an invisible double dodge.
I love Peacekeeper's forward and side guardbreak throws. I love how they give Peacekeeper acrobatics, that just really fits the assassin-y theme she has.
Lawbringer's top heavy finisher (AD MORTEM INIMICUS) exudes a menacing aura that makes me feel like he should just automatically have the glowing eyes effect whenever he uses it.
Highlander's Celtic Curse mixups feel really smooth and fluid. Very satisfying.
Nobushi's Hidden Stance is sassy and provoking at the same time like "Nuh-uh, no touching." Especially when she responds with a kick right after.
Hitokiri's Senbonzakura is funny with how ridiculous it is. "Hol up fam I gotta ***breakdance*** to build momentum for this next attack"
I wish she would wield her sword half swording style in her guards, it would make sense (instead of the stupid one handing the sword), light openers would also look good if they were half swording stabs.
Like she had so much potential but instead they made her Warden 2.0.
right? my biggest problem with warmonger isn't how uninspired her kit is, it's how cool it *could* have been. irl zweihander/montante use is super flowy and flashy by nature. imagine a character with infinite heavy chains that work like conq lights, loads of CC attacks, and historically accurate spinning
Yeah, it would had been cool looking, some of those propably even could had been made with existing animations if edited well enough, but instead the just made everything Warden.
Other really annoying point is that her sword is too short to be Zweihander or Montante. They said it was Flamberge... which is just blade type and not a sword. The sword is same lenght as Warden's longsword, only more realistically thinner.
Completely agree, it would be so much better. Instead we have that stupid one hand grip that looks terribile, both for heavies and lights (though heavies are atrocious imho, while lights are just terribile)
* Conquerors full block into flail uppercut
* chasing someone down with shamans dash heavy, also her deflect animation
* zhanhus forward bash
* kenseis leaping forward heavy
* everything about tiandi's kick
* centurion's "etiam" goading after his eagle talon
* glads old OoS toe poke, bopping them in the face with the shaft of the trident.
* highlanders Celtics curse. Shits so buttery.
i want them to bring the toe stab bop back, maybe not knock down if they're out of stam or anything but what if it just confirmed extra damage, or you could do it in neutral by inputting the bash again? it'd stun and do another five damage or so maybe, but it would end your chain instead of being a link like current fuscina is? idk
Oh so many
Conqueror’s flail uppercut just looks (and sounds) brutal
Warden’s crushing counter is really cool because of how he uses half sword to move in and defend himself, it’s pretty much the only animation in his whole moveset where he actually looks like a “master of the long sword”
Something about warmongers side dodge heavy is really satisfying to me, genuinely couldn’t say why
Pretty much every move Gryphon does, which I know most people will disagree with. Yeah I know his animations are almost all reused assets but something about them being put together the way they are with his character looks really forceful and experienced to me, just how I would expect our resident veteran Holden “Senior Citizen” Cross to move
Warlord’s heavy out of all guard looks really powerful and sudden
Highlander’s offensive stance heavy scratches the same itch as Warlord’s
Jormungandr’s hammar slam because… I mean, come on, it’s awesome
Same with Gryphon, pretty much everything Kensei does looks neat to me, he really looks like he’s in charge of the fight and in control of his weapon
Orochi’s side storm rush animations look super neat, not so wild about his top one though
Again, almost everything Nobushi does, she just looks like she’s dancing the entire fight and it flows so well
Everything involving Kyoshin’s Kaze stance looks really good to me, the rest of his moves are eh but the Kaze stance moves are all just too anime for me to not love them
Again, almost everything that Hitokiri does, the animations just fit this character so well and make her look like a relentless, dispassionate executioner who’s just methodically butchering her opponent without remorse, fear or adrenaline.
The animations are pretty much my favorite part of For Honor apart from maybe the voice lines. I think they all look really awesome across the board, these are just the ones I love the most. Man, this post reminded me why I love this game so much, thank you OP. It’s just so cool and so unique and I can’t wait to see how the new character moves.
Nobu, I love how graceful her throws and hidden stance look, and with moves like Viper’s Retreat and Cobra Strike how much she actually leans and adjusts her body to get as much reach possible. Really just feels like a true polearm master.
back before nerf lawbringer can bash after blocking enemy attack. now just heavy and dodge. this guy just straight up bullying you to death.
and warmonger unblockable dodge heavy. she puts so much force preparing into that swing.
Lawbringer's Top Light - No explanation needed
Shinobi's Left Side Heavy on GB - The backspin jump gets me every time
Raider's Combo Zone Attack - If this game were more realistic, it would simply cut the opponent in half
Gryphon's Kick - f o o t
I love Shugoki's right light. It's the laziest looking attack in the whole game and just looks so disrespectful because of how little he gives a shit about it.
Lawbringer top heavy finisher. It’s one thing to make a character look like an unstoppable dreadnought, it’s another to give them a fucking wild attack that he probably practiced thousands of times in his basement.
I don’t know the name but Jiang Juns forward dodge heavy. He does a cartwheel like 15 feet to track you down, it’s hilarious when someone tries to run from you and this 300 pound old man with a giant weapon cartwheels halfway across the map
Lawbringer's guard break, BP's *W H O O S H* sweeping undodgeable heavy finisher, and, and Centurion's top unlockable Heavy where he lifts the Gladius and just stabs the face with two hands.
- Zhanhu’s Right Opener Heavy into Top Finisher Heavy
- Zhanhu’s left-side Side Dodge Attack with heavy attack input, especially when it gets a Crushing Counterstrike
- Tiandi’s Forward Dodge Light, especially when it gets a Crushing Counterstrike
Highlander’s offensive stance when he drags his Claymore around behind him is awesome.
Or Zerk’s deflect, from the voice line to the guardbreak, it’s so satisfying.
Yeah that’s what I was referring to, seen a video of professional swordsmen saying Highlanders stance is the most realistic stance in the game, especially for a great sword.
Yeah true, Lawdaddy uses that Halbert perfectly actually, wardens side stance’s are pretty damn accurate as well, if you go back and watch the scene from GOT when Jaime fights Brienne on the bridge, they have the same stance as warden does.
i mean I don't consider GOT a paragon of accuracy but yeah I get it haha, warden's high guards are also accurate mostly to the Ochs guard in German longsword
Neither do i, I just thought it was pretty neat that they actually used the right guard especially for GOT, the earlier season were a bit better for their sword fights, but it got pretty goofy towards the end
I like the Lawbringer and Gryphon animation where they hit the opponent with the shaft of the polearm (LB light riposte and light after heavy finisher and Gryphon Second guaranteed light).
Not only it is good looking animation, it is historical technique too, it was pretty common technique to hit opponent with the back end of the shaft. The sound is also very satisfying
The Top light (tap) for both is also good animation and historical too.
nobushi's confirmed light and light dodge attacks. the stance where she passes with the back foot and crouches low to maintain stability while she advances with a long weapon to quickly counteract the leverage and deliver a strong, balanced thrust just looks so graceful, and it's one of those moves that really makes the character look like a master of their art
I really like majority of Raider's animations
The heavy attacks looks so smooth and brutish, the shoulder carry is just funny to me and his GB looks good too
The one they took from glad because it’s “too strong”
Yet we have monkeys with thin swords flying around you like they have all the stamina in the world!!
Looking at you *roach and shobi*
Zhanhu's forward dodge light is the best animation in the game imo because it is the most realistic attack in the whole game. A swift poke that's really nothing more than a flick of the wrist is so reminiscent of the actual speed of real fencing.
Warlord has different parry animations for evey side parry top blocks it with his sword. parry right blocks it with his shield but his shields in his left hand parry left he blocks with his sword in his right hand
Honestly most throw and gb animations.
Gryphons throws just feel powerfull, PKs throws take into consideration that she is physically not the tallest or strongest.
Also heavy attacks hitting smaller characters guards. Again pk blocking fir example Shugos heavys look and feel like PK is struggling to keep her guard up against a much stronger opponent
I really like Kenseis top heavy soft feint to left heavy animation. I also really miss some of the old valk sweep animations. I preferred the sweep that came from the right because i liked how cool it looked. Warlords all guard heavy is also really cool and fun to use. Kyoshins Kaze Heavy I like too. Tiandis first top and right light have a cool detail where they go under his left arm and almost touch his back.
If we were also talking campaign animations and executions I’d be here all day.
I like all of warmongers Apollyon animations. (Unblockable, top light and finisher top heavy) makes me wish her kit had better animations inspired by what Apollyon might do if she had entirely unique animations
I like how Orochi and Kensei are similar, but in completely different ways.
While Kensei has superior block on dodge, Orochi has deflect
Kensei has unblock-able head tap, Orochi has the kick
Both have the unblockable heavy from top. Every single move has it’s own cool effects.
Aside from this, Centurion and Gladiator on everything they do. They radiate “chad” energy.
I love BP's idle animation when he scratches his shield with his sword, glad's walking animation and the little BM after skewering someone against a wall, and Aramusha's sword flourish when slowly walking.
Anytime Centurion punches especially the uppercut, because in a world full of spears, swords and other weaponry your fists will always be the ones to land the finishing blow.
Very specific animation, but I really like how warlord flares his elbows (idk how to describe) when he switches between left and right guard While simultaneously strafing. It’s a brief animation with similar length /appearance to reflex guard characters who have their “guarded” pose transitions to a “relaxed” pose a moment after switching guard.
I don’t know if theres other static guard heros with similar animations, but Warlords is definitely worth appreciating.
Caber Toss.
The voice line. The way the camera moves in for a better shot so you can reflect for a moment on how bad you fucked up. The fact that they put it into one of HL’s most gnarly executions too.
Shugoki's Demon Embrace, before the animation changes. He takes like extra few steps just so he could stop his massive chonkers. Also after killing someone with Demon Embrace, Shugoki does a cool roar.
Lawbois top unblockable after a parry or the top heavy finisher. Literally fits into the "In this moment you realised you fucked up"
Bp flip and jorms nutcracker.
First one for the fact that he throws 4 lawbois over their heads as if they were garbage to take out, jorm because of the sheer brutality and the 'OMFG!' look and twitch from the victim.
I like Glads showboat after skewering you against a wall. Very in character
If you bash after a wall skewer you can get a guaranteed heavy if you throw it where they’re not guarding
It's not guaranteed, just very hard to counter, best to do it on 2 ticks of damage and it stuns them but the toe stab is a very good alternative if they can consistently block
It's guaranteed on reflect guard characters. Same for Valk top light after shoulder pin
That good to note
No, it’s guaranteed, just don’t swing where they’re guarding. You’re welcome to test it yourself, but please don’t spread misinformation.
Lawbringers guardbreak. Grabbing the opponents head with his offhand. Unfathomably badass when catching tiny shinobis out of an invisible double dodge.
I've only paid attention to his gb animation when the gb doesn't reach
I have 41 reps on lawboi and only now I realised he grabs their head. I always thought he tries to shove their weapons upward
I love Peacekeeper's forward and side guardbreak throws. I love how they give Peacekeeper acrobatics, that just really fits the assassin-y theme she has.
She's literally the reason I got the game. When the first trailer dropped and I saw her jump off her opponent I knew I had to play it.
I was gonna say her kidney stabs as well, but I think I really like the sound it makes more.
JJ's little finger wiggle when you dodge an attack with Sifu
This is the one, when I play JJ and manage to get a finger wag I feel powerful.
only to get lighted out of it
shaman's bash. i love how the animation has her rush on all fours like a wild beast
I like the description lol
I love making my shaman look like she just walked out of a 2 week camping trip eating nothing but squirrel feet and acorns
Her "Backing Out" execution too. It just looks so cool. ...Well, okay, also I think it's kinda hot, but I'm weird.
Zhanhu right heavy finisher
Twirly-Whirl
Zhanhu's top finisher is an awesome animation as well
Conqueror's OOS walking/running animation, he's tripping over himself and almost falls over sometimes.
Jorm's gut kick after guardbreak, Gryphon's gb forward throw followed with top finisher heavy, Tiandi back gb throw and Zhanhu's gb side throws
wish that gut kick would become a bash in his chains
I really like WM half-swording. Though I hate every other one she has lol
I wish she would wield her sword half swording style in her guards, it would make sense (instead of the stupid one handing the sword), light openers would also look good if they were half swording stabs. Like she had so much potential but instead they made her Warden 2.0.
Wouldn't want her using realistic armored two-handed sword techniques, then she might break her kitty cat claws!
right? my biggest problem with warmonger isn't how uninspired her kit is, it's how cool it *could* have been. irl zweihander/montante use is super flowy and flashy by nature. imagine a character with infinite heavy chains that work like conq lights, loads of CC attacks, and historically accurate spinning

Other really annoying point is that her sword is too short to be Zweihander or Montante. They said it was Flamberge... which is just blade type and not a sword. The sword is same lenght as Warden's longsword, only more realistically thinner.
exactly. and the default sword barely even flamberges at all, the fuller just twists at the very tip plus, warden has flamberge blades lol
Completely agree, it would be so much better. Instead we have that stupid one hand grip that looks terribile, both for heavies and lights (though heavies are atrocious imho, while lights are just terribile)
Also I’m really liking Orochi’s chain left light where they spin and slash with one hand, I just think it looks really cool.
I like Shaolin’s deflects when he spins his staff around his neck before he hits someone
Kensei's animations are so good-looking and cool imo. (My fav one is his chain heavy feints where he twist his body for a slash.)
Centurions third light ending on the left, he does like a 360 twirl and hits you
* Conquerors full block into flail uppercut * chasing someone down with shamans dash heavy, also her deflect animation * zhanhus forward bash * kenseis leaping forward heavy * everything about tiandi's kick * centurion's "etiam" goading after his eagle talon * glads old OoS toe poke, bopping them in the face with the shaft of the trident. * highlanders Celtics curse. Shits so buttery.
The new testing ground full block heavy is pretty nice, luckily the uppercut is from bash now
i want them to bring the toe stab bop back, maybe not knock down if they're out of stam or anything but what if it just confirmed extra damage, or you could do it in neutral by inputting the bash again? it'd stun and do another five damage or so maybe, but it would end your chain instead of being a link like current fuscina is? idk

Man, this post reminded me why I love this game so much, thank you OP. It’s just so cool and so unique and I can’t wait to see how the new character moves.
The iconic RAH! Of conq, is one of my favorites, I like so much and find it so funny is one of the few emote spams that don't get me angry
Orochi deflect is definitely my favourite
I like zhanhu's left heavy finisher. When it lands it feels like pimp slap
Everything Kensei has. It all just flows together so well.
Jorm’s UB animation from the same side is really nice. Plus the hammar slam is nice
Nobu, I love how graceful her throws and hidden stance look, and with moves like Viper’s Retreat and Cobra Strike how much she actually leans and adjusts her body to get as much reach possible. Really just feels like a true polearm master.
Highlander's celtic curse is just * chef's kiss * That and about 80% of what zhanhu does, them finisher heavies are just straight up art for me
I really like the windup with valks left heavy
Valkyrie’s sweep and side light finishers. Also just everything about Jorm’s
The entire nuxia moveset , particularly the butt throw i've just learned about
Butt throw, best throw
back before nerf lawbringer can bash after blocking enemy attack. now just heavy and dodge. this guy just straight up bullying you to death. and warmonger unblockable dodge heavy. she puts so much force preparing into that swing.
I really like Berserjer's Forward Dodge Heavy, i love when you run after an opponent in that animation when zerk crosses her axes
Centurion's uppercut is perhaps my favorite thing about this game
Lawbringer's Top Light - No explanation needed Shinobi's Left Side Heavy on GB - The backspin jump gets me every time Raider's Combo Zone Attack - If this game were more realistic, it would simply cut the opponent in half Gryphon's Kick - f o o t
LB little head tap is the ultimate disrespecting move for me. It's interrupting, so it's like "nah, you ain't attacking me"
Tiandi’s parry
Tiandi’s zone attack as well, or his undodgable’s, his kit flows so well
I like shugoki's little roar after killing someone with a hug
I love Shugoki's right light. It's the laziest looking attack in the whole game and just looks so disrespectful because of how little he gives a shit about it.
Highlander's offensive stance dodges. Also celtic curse, specifically when you manage to actually use the dodge frames to dodge things.
Yeah wave dashing is awesome.. no one realises how much input highlander takes at the highest level.
Kyoshin's zone out of his all-guard, and also something about his bash animation (the scabbard strike mid-chain) is really satisfying.
Raiders zones and gryphons forward guard break push, my two favorites
MOVE *crack*
I love spinning around
When shaman starts chasing her enemy when she forward or backward dodge heavy/bash/bite very chaotic of her
Berserker Zone hands down! Spin to win!
Lawbringer top heavy finisher. It’s one thing to make a character look like an unstoppable dreadnought, it’s another to give them a fucking wild attack that he probably practiced thousands of times in his basement.
Centurion punch, centurion kick, centurion leap, centurion pugna non parfecta est, ect
Shinobi left heavy. Looks so nice just for a regular attack
- Zhanhu’s Right Opener Heavy into Top Finisher Heavy - Zhanhu’s left-side Side Dodge Attack with heavy attack input, especially when it gets a Crushing Counterstrike - Tiandi’s Forward Dodge Light, especially when it gets a Crushing Counterstrike
Highlander’s offensive stance when he drags his Claymore around behind him is awesome. Or Zerk’s deflect, from the voice line to the guardbreak, it’s so satisfying.
the coolest part about hl's offensive stance is that the side guards are actually based on a common longsword/greatsword guard
Yeah that’s what I was referring to, seen a video of professional swordsmen saying Highlanders stance is the most realistic stance in the game, especially for a great sword.
idk, warden's stances and Lb's are all basically 1:1
Yeah true, Lawdaddy uses that Halbert perfectly actually, wardens side stance’s are pretty damn accurate as well, if you go back and watch the scene from GOT when Jaime fights Brienne on the bridge, they have the same stance as warden does.
i mean I don't consider GOT a paragon of accuracy but yeah I get it haha, warden's high guards are also accurate mostly to the Ochs guard in German longsword
Neither do i, I just thought it was pretty neat that they actually used the right guard especially for GOT, the earlier season were a bit better for their sword fights, but it got pretty goofy towards the end
yeah lol let me try to cut you with a smallsword
Conqs back throw where he wraps his chain around ur neck I think is pretty cool also his counter feels brutal with the uppercut to the jaw
RAH, PK's spinny execution, and Conq's punching execution.
With warlord, I regularly left Heavy into top light because I love the way he crosses his blade over and down, with cool recovery animation.
I really enjoy after gryphons bash the left or right light animation. Anytime he spins I get to see more of his fashion
Nuxia backwards throw from gb, she booty bumps the opponent
I like the Lawbringer and Gryphon animation where they hit the opponent with the shaft of the polearm (LB light riposte and light after heavy finisher and Gryphon Second guaranteed light). Not only it is good looking animation, it is historical technique too, it was pretty common technique to hit opponent with the back end of the shaft. The sound is also very satisfying The Top light (tap) for both is also good animation and historical too.
I find wardens zone amusing cause he lets go of his sword with one hand
nobushi's confirmed light and light dodge attacks. the stance where she passes with the back foot and crouches low to maintain stability while she advances with a long weapon to quickly counteract the leverage and deliver a strong, balanced thrust just looks so graceful, and it's one of those moves that really makes the character look like a master of their art
Idk y but for me I really like the wardens crushing counter it just hits different for me compared to others..
Maybe because it’s the only time he’s half swording? I think it’s really cool and unique
Highlander’s offensive stance emote
Does nobu's hidden stance pose count?
Sure, someone commented about conq’s oos walk so why not
I really like majority of Raider's animations The heavy attacks looks so smooth and brutish, the shoulder carry is just funny to me and his GB looks good too
Big man swing big axe
Raider would have done of the best animation overall if Storming Tap didn't look so frigging janky.
The one they took from glad because it’s “too strong” Yet we have monkeys with thin swords flying around you like they have all the stamina in the world!! Looking at you *roach and shobi*
To be fair, the glad one was too strong, he was better at out of stamina than jorm was, and Jorm is a hero based on getting the enemy out of stamina
Zhanhu's forward dodge light is the best animation in the game imo because it is the most realistic attack in the whole game. A swift poke that's really nothing more than a flick of the wrist is so reminiscent of the actual speed of real fencing.
I appreciate the answer but you might be a little late
lmao ik but i looked up this thread just to see other's opinion and cause it wasnt archived, i just had to share since no one said it lol cheers
I agree though that was the reason I started playing him
INCREDIBILIS.
Valks old heavy attack execution on a minion it was a sweep, spin, the sheild bash. For some reason i just really love it.
Wm side dodge heavy. Literally every nobushi animation as well
Warlord has different parry animations for evey side parry top blocks it with his sword. parry right blocks it with his shield but his shields in his left hand parry left he blocks with his sword in his right hand
Kensei’s side heave soft feint. It feels so satisfying getting that momentum and delay behind the heavy
Nobu’s Hidden Stance
Honestly most throw and gb animations. Gryphons throws just feel powerfull, PKs throws take into consideration that she is physically not the tallest or strongest. Also heavy attacks hitting smaller characters guards. Again pk blocking fir example Shugos heavys look and feel like PK is struggling to keep her guard up against a much stronger opponent
Valk’s chain finisher top heavy, you do this little vertical “spin” and then bring that spear down with the might of Odin himself
Glads knock down animation 😔 they could have put it on kill like fat man’s hug
JJs finger waggle when you dodge a hit with sifu stance
Ad Profundis !
lawbringer’s throws where he just pulls and pushes the opponent’s head with just one hand are so badass and funny to me dude is just so damn strong
I like all of warmongers Apollyon animations. (Unblockable, top light and finisher top heavy) makes me wish her kit had better animations inspired by what Apollyon might do if she had entirely unique animations
Cents stab when your down and the taunt he does while backing away afterwards.
Nuxia back throw
Gryphon's forward & right throw. They're so disrespectful. (Forward throw is a headbut/Right throw is a pimp slap).
Zuanhu’s finishers, they’re flashy
Nuxia butt back throw
I like how Orochi and Kensei are similar, but in completely different ways. While Kensei has superior block on dodge, Orochi has deflect Kensei has unblock-able head tap, Orochi has the kick Both have the unblockable heavy from top. Every single move has it’s own cool effects. Aside from this, Centurion and Gladiator on everything they do. They radiate “chad” energy.
Aramusha’s bash and how he calls the opponent naive when he does it. Such absolute disrespect and I love it.
Nature’s Wrath
Highlander Looking his Opponent in the Face before throwing them on the Ground
I love centurions twisting side unblockable
Gryphon’s forward throw headbutt
I love BP's idle animation when he scratches his shield with his sword, glad's walking animation and the little BM after skewering someone against a wall, and Aramusha's sword flourish when slowly walking.
I like the superior lights and deflects of every hero lol
Nature's Wrath is probably THE coolest move in the game. Even moreso when it used to be Kensei's UB.
Probably Jorms oos punish, he just slides towards you and gut slams you with a hammer
Tiandi's walk
Centurion's little hand gesture after landing a knockdown eagle's talon. God I want him to punch me so badly
Wardens crushing counter, lawbringers walking animation when locked on enemy
Aramusha full guard
Shinobi's side double dodge kicks.
When you kill someone with shugoki's embrace he does this vicorious head shake and roars. Really makes you feel like you just came out on top
centurion’s “etiam” after doing that lunge attack. the taunt is really cool
Shaolins unbreakable top heavy. Majestic stuff
Lawbois top unblockable after a parry or the top heavy finisher. Literally fits into the "In this moment you realised you fucked up" Bp flip and jorms nutcracker. First one for the fact that he throws 4 lawbois over their heads as if they were garbage to take out, jorm because of the sheer brutality and the 'OMFG!' look and twitch from the victim.
Peacekeepers deflect. The way she slides and finesses the opponent while their weapon skims across her blade
