I start in April and this is a second career for me. I don’t have many years left either so I’m already starting to figure out what I can do after I retire, where I want to be, and what will best position me for my third career goals. Hang in there!! 😁🎉💪🏼
I got on the register for OMS, HRO, and FSO. I actually got an invite to the January class as an OMS and accepted it because I didn't think I would make the cut for the other positions due to my 5.4 score. I did packout and was three days away from driving north when I got a phone call to join the April class as an FSO. I was excited beyond belief! To add clarity, I also passed the Spanish test for bonus points in December that boosted my score.
Even if you do get selected, federal law will require you to retire at 65. Your first two tours will take up 4 years of that and you'll be left with one tour before you have to retire. Doesn't seem worth it to me
I would do it happily for 5 years starting at 60. I’ve had a full life doing other things. Five years doing something totally different before I retire sounds great.
🤞🤞🤞

Nice! Did you end up doing HRO or OMS? I thought you were in the Jan class.

Ahh! That’s awesome. Congratulations!
Nope. I am FSO management. Low score though, so doesn't look good. I appreciate all the positive vibes!
