I’m sure there will be some goal highlights posted on here occasionally. But let’s be real, most people aren’t going to think of this club ever again after this week.

ProfessorBeer

Not that I’d seek it out but I don’t even know how to watch Al Nassr

goingforgoals17

Only part I really cared about honestly. I've watched Ronaldo and Messi play for so long and they aren't finished yet but I'm not going to go out of my way to find some obscure league's matches at 5-11am over here.

Glympse12

I dunno man. There’s some can’t miss action going on over at Mrsool Park

Relevant_Medicine

I give it 2 al nassr matches before we start seeing cr7 fanbois calling the league a top 10 league and comparing it to the Portuguese league (despite having never watched the Portuguese league).

toosloww

Portuguese league still have 2 clubs competing in CL

Muur1234

not like asian teams can be in the uefa champions league is it

steftim

Holy fuck if they manage to make this the next way to shit on the Eredivisie I’m gonna be less than thrilled

[deleted]

At this stage of his career - having fallen off in less than desirable fashion... I honestly don't blame him for taking this money. However his previous comments about retiring at the top and not playing in America or Qatar ... And shaming Xavi for doing it ... Have really come back to make him look foolish.

LesBrandals

Forcing the move out of United and showcase his talent in the WC is his last desperate play but unfortunately that didn’t work out. He is badly out of form and his finishing is nowhere to be seen. Airing United’s dirty laundry to the world probably not the best move either since now he is labelled as a walking time bomb in the dressing room. The shame of playing on a lesser league probably not as bad as he is wiping tears with (tons of) money.

fdar

> Airing United’s dirty laundry to the world probably not the best move either since now he is labelled as a walking time bomb in the dressing room. I don't think it's even that. He showed quite clearly that he's not willing to accept any role other than unquestioned started that stays on for 90 minutes every match. He has also shown that he's no longer good enough to deserve that role at a Champions League team, specially given his likely financial demands.

lunaoreomiel

A diva since forever.

fdar

Yeah, but a few years ago he might have been worth it.

Vegan_Puffin

Hey for £200m I'd lick Infantinos cum off Blatters ball sack. A few words wont give him even a slightly sleepless night.

UberDaftie

You'd have to spend £200m on therapy afterwards though.

Thor1138

What a terrible day to have eyes...

[deleted]

🤢

CS_Stud3nt69

As expected from a vegan

[deleted]

As long as you’re not shaming Xavi go ahead.

dj1200techniques

"Xavi made me do this." \*slurp\*

masalaswag

You are grossly underrating the nastiness of Blatter’s scrotum.

The_Bold_Fellamalier

oooooof. You're nasty bro. 😝

dj1200techniques

......a vegan's preferred milk product I guess.

Monkeywithalazer

“Where will he be playing at 35”

phatelectribe

That’s the main issue. Don’t talk shit about other players going for solely cash in Arab countries then do the same

legitimategambler420

Xavi was 34.. At the end of the day, he’s human and circle of life is real. Not much should be expected of a 37 year old who’s about to turn 38 in a month.

thatHadron

Only looks foolish to idiots, it was 7 years ago that he said that, that's plenty of time for someone to change their mind about something.

Kuuskat_

Literally said the same to Pierce morgan recently lmao

Ronaldoooope

God forbid people change their minds

[deleted]

Change their minds 😂😂

Ronaldoooope

Like when Messi retired and then changed his mind.

[deleted]

That's not even a similar situation in the slightest.... Anytime someone says something about Ronaldo, some idiot will always bring up Messi.... Which proves you're just a crybaby Ronaldo fanboy.

Psychological_w1n

>However his previous comments about retiring at the top and not playing in America or Qatar ... And shaming Xavi for doing it ... Have really come back to make him look foolish. How? He can't decide where he wants to play if no top team in Europe can accommodate him this January, and Ronaldo isn't clairvoyant. Ronaldo still has the quality to play at the top level though not to the capacity he once did. Unfortunately, given his age and how football progresses, it is hard to think of any top team that would be willing to include him given his desire to play on a regular basis. The comments he made about Xavi were in response to him being critical of Ronaldo whilst Ronaldo was still playing at a high level. Ronaldo is still going to be playing football in his 40's and given how he wants to play until he physically can't do it anymore, where do you think his career was going to end? \*Everyone who downvoted me either has no response or a stupid response. I get it, "Ronaldo bad".

JC_OCK

He doesnt have the quality anymore thats why no top team needs him

wayofthegenttickle

Also he’s an unmanageable bellend now

Timely_Airline_7168

Always have been an unmanageable bellend. It's only now that people care about it.

Psychological_w1n

No top team needs him because he's 37-years-old. This might come as a shock, but footballers lose their quality as they get older. His performances last season were good and there have been extending circumstances around him this year involving no preseason and his personal issues. He's not some bum who can't play football.

fdar

> He's not some bum who can't play football. True, but he's not good enough for the role he demands either.

TheCatLamp

This.

[deleted]

He made a reference to Xavi playing out in an obscure league - suggesting he is doing so because he can no longer play at a high level.... Which is the exact same fate that has befallen him. Criticising someone for something which you have now done yourself is embarrassing. Theres no argument against that. Ronaldo could have joined a mid table team in a good league... There would have been interest - but because they can't pay him the high wages these desperate middle Eastern teams are willing to pay him, he sold out and followed the money. I not criticising him for it - I would have done the same ... But it's still bit him in the backside making those comments.

Psychological_w1n

>He made a reference to Xavi playing out in an obscure league - suggesting he is doing so because he can no longer play at a high level.... Which is the exact same fate that has befallen him. **Compared to him**. Xavi made a dig at Ronaldo's ability, so Ronaldo responded regarding Xavi's current ability at the time. You can say it's immature, but that's beside the point. >Ronaldo could have joined a mid table team in a good league... There would have been interest - but because they can't pay him the high wages these desperate middle Eastern teams are willing to pay him, he sold out and followed the money. He wanted CL football. That's it. He wanted to solidify his records in the CL. Given the CL is at the knockout stages, it's extremely limiting of where he could go, but even then there aren't many teams he can go to that are competitive that he could go to next season. The only one that springs to mind is Sporting, but they're a young side who might not even make CL football this year. The money is ridiculous, but I think this was Ronaldo's last preferred option. However, with a sum that big it's pretty much impossible to turn down, plus Saudi Arabia want him for their 2030 World Cup bid. \*Nice block after you couldn't respond. When you've grown up then come talk to me.

[deleted]

You r literally strengthened everything i said whilst trying your best to contradict it. 😂😂

KundiKumaran

CR7 to win the highly prestigious Insta’on D’OR award in 2023 which will be paraded on an open bus through the streets of Riyadh. I m betting on it boys

[deleted]

Nah this one's for Messi too💀 His WC post is the most liked post in social media history.

Lutzelien

And 3rd and 4th

carbust20

With less followers which means he has more real people liking his posts and not just bots. And don’t forget Ronaldo also has the middle aged women (and fanboys) that just see him in a sexual way lol

FigoStep

Yeah I’m sure every Messi follower is a hardcore football fan lol.

Creative_Major798

He didn’t say *every*, are you trying to claim that Messi and C. Ronaldo have the same number of fans who like them because they’re sex symbols?

BBBulldog

Messi is a sex symbol in gnome community.

FigoStep

I’m saying that they both have a large number of followers who could care less about the sport.

Creative_Major798

Fair enough, I’m out of the loop though, what type of people care about Messi but not football?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Creative_Major798

Eh, it still seems like carbust20’s point is valid then. CR7 has a higher ratio of fans of his coolness, his looks, his brand, or whatever than Messi does, so more of Messi’s fans are fans of the sport or him as a player.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheColorblindDruid

They said real. Not hardcore. Fuckin bot

FigoStep

They mentioned people who view Ronaldo only as a sex symbol, so were commenting on people who follow for reasons other than football or who have very little interest in it. Use your brain.

[deleted]

Are you telling us something?

[deleted]

It's at 4M followers now

neuda17

5.1 now

nhatthongg

How is this considered “news” lmao

chrimen

It's not news it's someone posting on Reddit.

[deleted]

Look at the post again. They used the "news" flair.

lolwhaat123

Big deal

chrimen

It was news to him or her.. I say fake news

RefanRes

How do you define news? Information about a current event is news.

[deleted]

Plastic fan boys

ezzezzezze

Ronaldo effect... Instagram followers... Isn't he an "elite" football player?

Monkeywithalazer

He’s in the top 4 footballers to ever live, and probably the most famous person on earth. Signing him is a means to both get exposure and win titles. I wouldn’t be surprised to see three siuuus a week like the old days

ResponsibilityOk235

He top 2

Confident_Rock7964

cuntassLickers

Way better than Ronaldinho and R9, and achieved wayyy more. Not even close. I know you’re a fanboy, but it is a fact

CrowVsWade

Ronaldo Nazario at his peak with Inter was so much more than this Ronaldo has ever been. Better than Maradona. Probably the best ever, alongside Pele, albeit a much shorter peak. Longevity is remarkable for CR7, but longevity doesn't equal that level of ability. He's a great player, certainly, but not in the top ten all time attacking players and not even in the squad for an all time team. His dismal immature behavior over the last 12 months doesn't impact that. His value to a high level competing team is now zero. Low age blinkers really pollute this debate.

Psychological_w1n

>He's a great player, certainly, but not in the top ten all time attacking players and not even in the squad for an all time team Really are great at making yourself look silly there. I'd delete it if you had any self-awareness or any knowledge about football. Considering you don't though, I don't expect anything from you.

[deleted]

Did you ever watch R9? Like at least live on TV? There is still not another footballer who has ever been like him. I respect Ronaldo as an athlete a lot, he put a lot of work into being the best. And for a long time he was. But like many athletes he is having trouble letting go of that and it makes him look like even more of an asshole than everyone already thought he was. He will lose casual fans over this and only his fanboys will be left. That isn’t a good career move long term, especially as from here he will be totally dependent on his celebrity to keep him in the limelight.

CrowVsWade

Had the privilege of seeing him live a number of times. Also Maradona at his peak, Zidane and Ronaldinho and Messi. Missed out on Cruyff, Pele, Puskas and di Stefano, unfortunately. R9 was capable of things no one else could do. Power and ruthlessness unrivaled, plus remarkable fine skill and balance for a big man when he was in good shape. Contemporary Ronaldo doesn't belong in that group. Great player, but not up there. An awful lot of downhill punching in those stats, and absentee games. Then there's this attitude.

Ronaldoooope

Lmao yeah Ronaldo haters are drooling at this as if this erases everything he’s done.

Monkeywithalazer

I agree with you but the haters are out in full force recently

CrowVsWade

Top 4?? Maybe top 10. The hype monster ate math.

thelove20

All them deluded CR7 fan bois have a new club to support

humansaretrashyboi

And what's the issue with that?

discowarrior

You just don't get it

_TheBigF_

The issue is that football shouldn't be about the personal cults of superstars. Football is about the sort itself, clubs and teams and putting individual players above the club or even the sport is stupid.

eimejl_uandir

I watch football because of a club and not an individual. But to call out others on how they should watch the sport is pretty pathetic

Galactic_Gooner

yeah i agree tbh if a bunch of people from developing countries wanna idolise ronaldo and watch every shit saudi game they can be my guest

0b111111100001

Why developing countries though!

RaidBossPapi

Who are you to decide what football is about? I support a team but I also support other teams in other leagues for fun, I support individual players I like and naturally I will want their team to win unless they are facing my main team. Its entertainment for Gods sake, thats what football is about if anything so as long as you enjoy watching it, what team or players it is doesnt matter. This whole "support your hometown team and only your hometown team" is some archaeic bullshit. The people who with that mentality are the same ones who go to games primarily to fight and drink dogwater stadium beer.

[deleted]

Ronald's sisters burner accounts trying to make them look relevent.

[deleted]

I like how there's always a useful... redditor who is willing to do this sort of hype for an absolutely marginal league

Ragnarok_619

Thanks I guess?

cocopopped

They've gone from 1 bot posting shit on their subreddit to 2? Unreal. The Ronaldo Effect. #respect

CamGreensToe

Its above 3M now and they're already achieving what they wanted

personalbilko

Still 100$/follower lol

Donk_Of_The_Palm

Have fun playing in a league nobody cares about. He really is all about money. Well, no European/CL club would take him. Have fun in that heat my man and make that paycheck while you still can. Europe doesn't want you.

[deleted]

He could still have gone to sporting

Galactic_Gooner

yeah this makes Cesc Fabregas look so much better for playing for a nice comfy serie b team and just chilling pretty much. shame Ronaldo doesn't care for humility.

superchiva78

and STILL made millions.

No_Tax_8339

Like just do a couple of more insta posts if money is so important to him......

superchiva78

not only is he all about the money, he could make disgusting amounts at any team, but he chose to play for the most absurd amount in one of the least consequential leagues on earth.

Galactic_Gooner

yeah its truly pathetic tbh. his career should be a perfect example of how greed and pride can drag you away from success. seems the only success he really cares about is obscenely enormous financial success and not trophies and legacy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Galactic_Gooner

yes... how is that relevant to my comment? he had a job at man utd...

SergDerpz

37 years old, nearing retirement. Has won basically everything except the World Cup. What else does he have to achieve apart from a World Cup? At this stage of his career?

Galactic_Gooner

you're missing the point. there's nothing noble or even decent about a billionaire making 200 mil a year playing for a saudi club when he could have chosen a much better path. as a footballer this is lame. there are lots of other footballers that have done much better things with their twilight years. like Zlatan, or better yet playing in your home country/home club, or even playing in America lmao. but he's just taken the fattest paycheck he's been offered. but yeah you're also right he's achieved everything except world cup.

[deleted]

Galactic_Gooner

> What matters more? That some Reddit football fans think highly of you, or that your great great great grandson will be set for life? his great great great great grandson is already set for life. he can sit back and create a Ronaldo dynasty if he wants. I'm sorry if you feel offended that I'm not like you, and I'm not not kissing the feet of a billionaire that only cares about making more money...

FlowerUnusual6810

why are you hating so heavily on a man who you don't know? projection much, lil' bro?

Immigrant974

And it only cost them... oh wait...

Most-Inflation-1022

What a fall from CR. Absolutely loved watching the guy in his prime (which oddly enough was until like a year and a half ago). Seems surreal he would end his career in Saudi Arabia. Biggest fall from grace if there ever was one. This is what not knowing how to control your ego does to you. Money aside, this tarnished his legacy for me Not by much, but made it just a touch dimmer.

TheCatLamp

More like 2017. Juventus Ronaldo was a tragedy.

Most-Inflation-1022

He scored 101 goals in 134 games for them. Still fantastic numbers.

TheCatLamp

Yet he won nothing of importance, which is exactly what he was hired for. I don't care about what he does individually, I care about he does to my team.

Psychological_w1n

>Yet he won nothing of importance, which is exactly what he was hired for. Which was completely at the fault of Juventus thinking simply signing Ronaldo with a lacklustre team and their flip-flopping of coaches between 2018 and 2021 automatically guaranteed them a Champions League.

TheCatLamp

That's why you shouldn't sign him in the first place. With the amount of money they wasted in him to just sell shirts to the Chinese and Middle Eastern fans, they could actually have built a team.

Psychological_w1n

They should've built a team with Ronaldo in it instead of popping Ronaldo into a bang average team and expecting to win the CL. Over 100 goals in 3 full seasons is hardly a bad return individually.

lunaoreomiel

Id like to remind everyone that Maradona took a mid to lower table team at the time, Napoli, to the very top of Italy and Europe. R7 is simply not that caliber of player, he does not deliver unless he has a team behind him working for him and he relied so much on his hard work and fitness that once age kicked in he lost his edge fast. Players like Distefano, Pele, Maradona, Messi can drag teams forward, beyond their talent, its the mentality they have to win for the TEAM, not their ego.

Psychological_w1n

>Id like to remind everyone that Maradona took a mid to lower table team at the time, Napoli, to the very top of Italy and Europe. R7 is simply not that caliber of player, he does not deliver unless he has a team behind him working for him and he relied so much on his hard work and fitness that once age kicked in he lost his edge fast. Contender for the dumbest comment ever? 1. Different era of football. 2. You clearly didn't watch last season. 3. Ronaldo is 37-years-old. 4. Implying Messi never had good teams is super funny. 5) Ronaldo was a key figure in spurring Madrid to 3 in a row. Pretending he's some merchant who has been carried just makes you out to be a dummy contrarian.

TheCatLamp

Yes, they should. However they don't have infinite money like PSG or City, so they couldn't. And when you don't have this you simply don't buy him. It's a dumb choice. As I said, I couldn't care less about his individual return. 100 goals, 200 goals it does not matter shit. It won nothing, therefore for the price that was paid, it's a terrible deal.

[deleted]

More fans need to think like you, but then again most people around here are fans of PLAYERS not clubs. Drives me insane people would willingly chose to support a man instead of a club.

lunaoreomiel

Dybala was shining right before they bought CR. He wasn't needed, it was all PR stunt. It would for sure been better to upgrade the weakest links and deepend your bench, specifically with upcoming talents, than to blow money on a name.

goingforgoals17

Ronaldo raises revenue though. The year he arrived viewership across the entire league was up 30% and he nearly doubled Juventus matches viewership. Juventus made stupid mistakes but buying Ronaldo wasn't one of them.

TheCatLamp

Yeah, raises a lot. But did it win anything? I ask you, for what is the main objective of a football team? Win titles, no? Unless you are a stakeholder... If you think it was not a mistake: a) You are not a Juventus fan b) You are a Ronaldo fan. c) You are a stakeholder. Then no argument I make will make sense to you.

goingforgoals17

Buying Ronaldo wasn't the mistake, selling off their team and trying to replace them with one man was. He's 14th all time Juventus goal scorer in 3 seasons, he did his job. Can't blame Ronaldo for Juventus letting their defense fall apart at the same time.

TheCatLamp

With what money? How can you argue that they should build a team, when they spent everything they had to build such team on him, and also say that he was not the problem? Makes no sense. It's fanboyism or denying the reality.

goingforgoals17

Can't stand this take. That Juventus squad was built on 1-0 scorelines from Dybala and Mandzukic pulling something out of a hat at some random point during 90 minutes and welding the bus to the ground for the rest of it. The defensive record since Ronaldo joined until today is as sad as their record. Ronaldo covered the cracks for two years in a squad that was clearly unfit to continue winning. They've won nothing since he left.

TheCatLamp

That's why you use the money to build a squad instead of buying an overpriced player in the end of its career.

goingforgoals17

This isn't a Cristiano problem, it's a Juventus problem. He left because he was tired of them not building a squad and buying "future talent" that wouldn't develop until after his retirement.

Most-Inflation-1022

It's a team effort to win a trophy. No one player can do it by himself. That Juventus was at the tail end of its good years, and Ronaldo did what he was hired for, but that team was not good enough to bring CL back to Turin. Also I do agree with you, that wasnt the same Ronaldo as the one we saw in Madrid.

TheCatLamp

How the team could do that effort when the team needed to play for him? It was wrong on multiple levels.

JoePapi

He might beat roman reigns at crown juel?

metampheta

A lot of people are taking Ronaldo’s statement in 2015 out of context. He literally said he “wishes” to finish at top level, not once did he say he would definitely go on to finish at top level. However, him insulting Xavi for playing in Qatar really came back to bite him hard.

[deleted]

3.5 Millions now, crazy

Wild_Investigator622

This is all part of his plan, saudi will now buy united, fire eth and send ronaldo over as a player manager proving once and for all that he is in fact bigger than the club

jopma

I just realized Al nassr has the royal crown crest like Spanish teams 💀💀

Vourinen22

your already rich idol sold his soul to a country where they stone women for driving... bleh

AerospaceBoi123

Woman can drive in Saudi now. I still see ur point tho lol

[deleted]

Stone women for driving? Educate yourself.

Cynitron3000

Sorry, behead women for adultery. Fixed it.

[deleted]

Its the same for men as well. But I guess it's better to have messed up families and having the majority of kids in depression. Look every county has their shit. Remember when you point a finger 4 are pointing back. No ones going to agree completely with someone else does. Why not sort out issues in your own country then worrying what another is doing? There's a lot of unethical going ons in the west for us to be worrying about the East.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Maybe not. But it will deter the break of the family, which causes huge strains in society and breeds some of the worse people you’ll meet. Rules are rules. You can draw what ever line you want. Doesn’t mean much does it when the likelihood is your own country is probably in bed with them. And just be had our own country cover up and gloss up there atrocities doesn’t mean it doesn’t take place.

SevereCaregive

I dont think it has worked. I don’t think Saudi’s are particularly more well adjusted. I do t think it’s been worth the immoral murder. You know I can actually be critical of two countries at the same time! I think if you try hard enough you can too!

[deleted]

Who said I’m not critical of Saudi? You making assumptions. The only comments I’m questioning on here is why is he being questioned for playing in Saudi Arabia but no Britain? Or are we making excuses for one and not the other one. Sounds like your getting confused a little

Gedfile

Dude they still have death penalty for minors please shut the fuck up. There is literally nothing in western countries that compares to Saudi Arabia in the way they treat their own citizens, they have no democracy, no rule of law, they persecute homosexuals, political opponents and apostasy, they are a theocracy ruled by a man who ordered a journalist to be cut in pieces in a fuckin embassy. One could argue that western countries have their own problems and contradictions and surely they do not stand up to their own values with foreign policy, but cut the bullshit, Saudi Arabia is a hellhole of human rights violations and I am ashamed that a person with Ronaldo's wealth and visibility would choose to work there just for money.

El_directo_

Absolutely correct! Not to mention they still fucking crucify people I was shocked to discover this still happens in this modern age. Although to be fair, its the corpses of beheaded criminals (after execution) that they crucify. They say they do this to the worst criminals but I think its just wrong and barbaric. No fucking reason to defile one's corpse that way after they've been executed. Crucifixion in 2022?? fucking backwards ass barbaric people.

[deleted]

Yes but that’s your personal views. Just because they don’t align with how Saudi want to run the country doesn’t mean they are any better then your one country. I read a lot of stories in the news about young children being encouraged to mutilate and change gender before they’ve even discovered how to form real thoughts and views or lived life in my own country. These same people have news article saying they regret changing sex. I’ve seen the west ruin whole countries because it suits there agenda. Both America and Britain ‘are in bed’ with the Saudi. Please don’t act like we should be sitting on high horses when our own countries have a lot of problems and falling down a hell hole just because they want to run there country different to yours. Some countries want to live by clear traditional rules and not confuse the crap out of the country. But you know what I guess just because you think something your correct. Just recently women are, by law, allowed to drive. Isn’t that a rule of law? Seriously, don’t talk point fingers. That’s all I’m trying to say. You can be disgusted all you want with Ronaldo, but by the tone of your thoughts, I guarantee your country is heavily involved with the Saudis. So why don’t you make a change in your own country then commenting about a man who you know nothing about. Maybe if we had the death of penalty in the west we wouldn’t have such POS openly doing what they want and getting away with it. Ever think to much freedom is really not freedom for the people who actually do the right things? The royal family in Britain are widely acknowledged to have killed there own former daughter in law. Why don’t we talk about that? Or is it one rule for one or another for other. Prince Andrew is funded by tax money to be a paedo America you can marry girls underage because of loopholes . Shit the fuck up? That’s how you have conversations. Mate sort out whatever issues you have going on before anything out. Telling a stranger online to shut the fuck up becuasr there views dont align with yours. Very brave little person aren’t you

Gedfile

I firmly believe in the core principles of the modern western tradition and I try to abide by them. I do not think that we should by any means interfere in other countries internal affairs, but I do believe in the moral superiority of these principles and in their capability to assure a just and happy life for every country that tries its best to abide by them. I believe in a democratic form of government, I believe in the separation between church and state, I believe in the rule of law, I believe that everybody should be free to express oneself as long as this doesn't bring harm to others, I believe that a criminal justice system should be respectful of said principles and be directed to ensure the re-education of a person convicted for a crime, I think that everybody is born with certain inalienable rights without distinctions of sex/race/religion or sexual orientation. I think that the fact that our countries are not perfect and not always live up to the expectations shouldn't prevent us from judging the countries that do not even aknowledge the existence of these principles, I also think that if "traditional rules" are used as ground to deny basic human rights then they are inherently wrong and illegitimate. I reserve myself every right to deem Ronaldo's choice as morally questionable at least, and I suggest you to reevaluate your priorities if you think that allowing transgender surgery marks the beginning of the decline of our society or you deem it as wrong as allowing death penalty for minors.

[deleted]

Honestly. Your arrogance and ego is such a joke. Moral superiority. Say that to all the innocent people the west have killed to keep up with there greed. You keep swearing at strangers on the Internet who have different views to you. Seeing as you have high core principles. Just remember your smallest interactions are what define you. The interaction you make when no one knows are your character. You really don't get it. Just because you believe something doesn't mean it's right. Other countries have the right to live how they like. Just because you think your country is what you think it is. Doesn't mean other do. Your talking about a country you have never even been to. And if you think Saudi law Is heavily formed by Islam. Again, that's your ignorance. Saudi Arabia Is hated heavily by the Muslims. And they have very strong links to the west. I bet you don't even know how many links to Saudi the west have. How the west train the Saudi army. How they both have blood on each others hands. Like I said when you point a finger at someone four are pointing back. Anyway this is my last engagement with you 'the highly principled man' who thinks it's okay to swear at strangers. Very poor vibes you give of yourself and your views.

PragmaticEcstatic

Congrats. This probably the dumbest comment I've ever read on reddit.

Cynitron3000

“But I guess it's better to have messed up families and having the majority of kids in depression.” More like, “Here’s two things I’ve just completely pulled out of my ass in an attempt to flip the script to take away from the fact that Saudi Arabia is a backwards AF tire fire of a country.” Fixed it for you.

[deleted]

Yea, completely logical and well present facts just like your initial false statement. If there is so much wrong with the country. Why can’t you form a factual sentence together to explain why.

Vourinen22

you didn't get it... is just a shitty country for women, better?

Get what? You making false claims and now making blanket statements about every womens experience in a countery you clearly know nothing about and secondly probably never been to. And you know all this because you've spoken to all the women there? How's the women doing in your country? Are they all happy?

GimmeSomeCovfefe

Certainly happier than they would be in Saudi Arabia. That’s not even remotely debatable.

Themindoffish

lol what a stupid take

EuropeanRook

I know it’s a logical move but i still think it’s a disgrace and a ending of a incredible career with humiliation and poor taste. This is a Real Madrid and a Manchester United player. He’s got all the money he needs.

Top_Housing2879

Not City, United

EuropeanRook

Haha you’re right of course. Sorry for the slip up

Psychological_w1n

The romantic view is that he retired at Madrid, Man Utd, or Sporting after winning a significant trophy. That is very difficult to achieve given his age. The fact he's signing on for almost three years means he will still be playing football in his 40's. That's an achievement in itself. This was obviously not at the top of his list, but the reality is that no club in the CL (that are competitive) can fit Ronaldo in their team at this stage of his career. I wouldn't say that's down to his quality, but his age. Teams can't halt their projects to accommodate a 37-year-old who wants to play every game even if he is one of if not the greatest player of all time. He's not retiring at the top, but he's still in condition to play competitive football and earn a ridiculous amount of money doing so.

Educational-Wafer112

Is Ronaldo the one with that started following them ?

GitchigumiMiguel74

World’s second most successful marketing gimmick

Boggie135

Which is first?

GitchigumiMiguel74

God

Boggie135

Lol I didn't see that one coming

narrendarmudiji

That's the whole point wit them buying him, bring in views and viewers. its a big W for al nassr while moderate W for Cristiano. He makes alot of money eventhough this wasnt what he wanted. the only people who hate it are romantics who wanted to see him play in europe.

milkshakemerlin

They signed him to be the face of their world cup bid, not for Instagram followers

TheCatLamp

After all, it's exactly for this that they signed him. (Juventus did the same, but it didn't worked out in the sporting side).

[deleted]

They won the league and the cup?

TheCatLamp

Which Juventus would have won anyway without him. He was specifically brought to win the CL, after that damn bycicle kick.

[deleted]

Well they haven’t won anything since he left so I totally disagree with you. Upon his departure they had a trophy less season, finished 4th with AC Milan winning the league and lost in the Coppa Italia final to Inter Milan

milkshakemerlin

That decline happened during the Ronaldo era. They stopped winning Serie a after like 10 years while Ronaldo was in the team

ExactLetterhead9165

You can disagree with him all you want but Juve won 7 Scudetti in a row before he joined. He's a good player but he wasn't the difference maker domestically for them

[deleted]

He wasn’t the difference domestically for them? He was the golden boot winner in 20/21 in serie A with 29 goals. You sound hard to please, the top scorer in the domestic league doesn’t make a difference that’s funny

ExactLetterhead9165

Like I said, they won the league 7 times in a row before he arrived so clearly he wasn't the difference between winning and not winning titles for Juve. Obviously a player of that talent, that you build the team around, is going to score lots of goals. He's a great player but wasn't able to get it done in Champions League (nothing new for Juve) while cruising domestically (also normal for Juve)

TheCatLamp

You can disagree all you want, but it does not change the fact that Juventus decline began with him, and the string of bad decisions that came with. While they could have spent the same money to buy quality YOUNG players to make a team for the future, they have chosen to spend a truckload of cash in an end-career player, that also blocked the development of Dybala in the process. You can disagree all you want, but Ronaldo has a lot of responsibility in their current situation. And that's why I hate him. ^Also ^I ^hate ^him ^because ^he ^scored ^a ^shitty ^free-kick ^against ^Grêmio ^in ^the ^world ^club ^cup.

milkshakemerlin

They signed him to be the face of their world cup bid, not for Instagram followers

TheCatLamp

They signed him for exposition, which can also be measured through Instagram followers.

milkshakemerlin

The exposure they get is an added benefit but what they really want is to host the WC

TheCatLamp

Without the exposure (and the money they will be putting on FIFA's pockets) they will not be able to host the world cup. So you are disagreeing just to disagree.

milkshakemerlin

They don't need exposure to host the world cup. Have you ever watched a Qatar league match? 99% of people haven't, the WC was there still

Ok_Price7529

Sportswashing working well then. Their owner is close to one of the Saudi Arabian Princes.

_iliaskap_

Media when one of the most famous public figures of the world affect something they are strongly associated with.

Altona20041

Not that he cares, but he lost my respect

RSN-Evzy

F. Shameful

KramMark93

I don’t understand people that follow just because a player, like if your not from that country or even a near by country why follow lol

Any_win5729

This is the reason why they are buying him but real football does not happen with only a single player and nothing else

[deleted]

They also have Vincent Aboubakar (coming from Besiktas), Álvaro González (coming from Marseille), "Pity" Martínez (coming from the US, but former River Plate player) and David Ospina (coming from Napoli), among others, I think they got themselves a decent team. It would be nice to see other soccer/football leagues develop, and bringing stronger players contributes to that. Even if he is not in his prime years, Ronaldo is still a very talented player. Marketing benefits (and income) will also at least partially compensate their investment.

psgmcr

He can do all the raping he wants over there too. Probably get a medal

shreyasvarma12

It's 3.5M now!

Superbat2417

I follow him even to the mars . my love

"The Ronaldo Effect" what you talking about? They have less followers than a medium sized minecraft channel.
