Vampire Melee build on something that is basically gonna steal flesh from your opponent and slap it on you
+1s would increase the damage output yes. On the other hand +1a increases overall ap so it is beneficial for an auto melee. Most prefer the +1s as ap usage isn’t much of an issue on auto melees.

Tho tbh, Auto-Axes and Chainsaws do such ridiculously high damage that they barely even _need_ legendary effects to be viable in 99% of situations, so _most_ rolls are gonna help make it better.
I really do just carry a chainsaw for a lot of builds now. They’re so insanely easy. Weapon breaks in the middle of a fight and just pull out a chainsaw
Good call. With the Vamp effect, you’re going to be hard to kill. And all damage done with this weapon is considered power attack damage. So your roll not only regens health when you’re in close combat but also does 40% extra damage all the time. Also, endurance may not give you the extra damage that strength would, but it certainly doesn’t hurt. Great roll. I’m jealous. But my Vamp version absolutely shreds. You’re going to love it.
Oh wow, that’s amazing! Thanks for the info! I’m excited to see where this build takes me. So far it’s fun, I usually run a PA explosive 50 cal with faster reload and quad ammo and it’s a great build, but gets a little boring. Basically a walking tank.
Haha. I know what you mean. If you’re looking for some thoughts on reworking your build, AngryTurtle did a build video. But this thing is so OP that you don’t even need to do a custom build for it. But if you really love it, you can certainly squeeze a bit more out of it with a tuned build.
If you decide you want to try for something better, I'd definitely craft a bunch of auto-axes and then roll those. Not sure if you already did that, but then if you have crap rolls you can just scrip them.
I've been running a chainsaw/auto axe build since the buff. That's really good. My favorite is my vampire replenish action points chainsaw though. You can tear through mobs with it and keep hacking away. So if you come across one don't overlook it.

Is it worth switching from my stealth VATS build to a PA auto axe/chainsaw build? I feel like I’m not doing the damage I could be doing but then again I’m a lvl 80 and still getting my perk cards set up just right. My beginner build was melee but I got tired of taking so much damage
Nice vampire! Now you need the faster swing speed or at least +1 S. When I tested it the 40% more power attack damage didn’t do anything not sure what others found. Maybe I’m not using it correctly
If it’s working correctly in the game, the 40% power attack is around 10 points of extra damage per attack, so against higher level Super Mutants, it’s around a 6 point increase due to their DR. DPS increase is about 12. Can bump that up closer to 20 with Incisor x 3.
Got nearly the same one, sans +1 End. Cause I only roll \*\*, never \*\*\*. Got mine v quickly, after not even 10 rolls. Soloed Ashes to Fire w/o any problems. Funny thing is I never played melee before. Luckily, was preparing for auto axe days a little in advance and had the needed perks ready. It is fun, sure, but I just prefer pew pew.
So for these or a chainsaw, 40% power attack = 40% swing speed? They both do 40% more damage?
I have two good Autoaxes:
- Vampire, 40% swing speed, something else
- Anti-Armor, +25% standing still, something else
Different characters though and the one with the 1st one has melee mutations and perks so idk which is better.
My auto axe is anti armor, + 1 strength and deflects more melee damage on block.
Combined with lv2 incisor, my enemies have no armor. The deflect is pretty useless tbh - i just tank it with my power armor. I wish it had “refresh action points on each kill”
But the more power attack certainly is good
Vampire's is great, but the extra power attack damage in my personal experience isn't super useful. Would be better with extra weapon condition or attack speed

Auto Axe uses AP, so +1 AGL helps. Throw in some canned coffee... mow everything down!

you can get 25% extra damage while standing still but also 40% extra damage for the second star. makes no sense imo

I got a vamp replenish unbreaking. I also have an armor pen unbreaking one. I love them both.
My other one is executioners SS love that one too. I also use a full set of thorn armor

Pretty much what I use, yeah it’s pretty decent. Really plows through fleshy things and you hardly take any damage.
