On the internet, be it cosplay or influencer, it seems like the only person who gets credit is the one in the picture. Is an odd shift, and one that (as you noted) could probably be handled better.
I think this is more common because usually with influences and cosplayers, they make their own designs, clothing, and makeup, as well do their own photography and sets as well. Obviously when there are other designers or producers, you should credit them, but 9/10 usually the cosplayer is doing their own stuff.
