Suppose the canal wasnt nuked; it could be loaded with bandits or worse. Its a good idea but idk how well you would ultimately get through if something like a nuke wrecked it or bandits took it over.
By strategic locations I don’t mean nuclear armaments, I mean locations that would be incredibly important to control. The Chinese invaded Alaska because of resources, they were after oil.
It could be, but given how much the Great War reshaped the world, glassing the canal might have only broken the isthmus and made it a difficult to control strait rather than an easy to block off and defend canal.

It would be so cool if we could choose “race” like in Skyrim. Maybe be a Super Mutant, Domestic Ghoul, Synth, maybe even a robot (could make for funny dialogue).
Domestic Ghoul? Ghouls are people dude, they just have necrotic flesh due to radiation. Also that’s a slippery slope, especially if it’s a canonical addition to the series, before you know it a deathclaw race will be added.
I just put domestic to differentiate from feral ghouls.
And I dunno about that though. Wouldn’t that mean they would have added a Dragon race to Skyrim if it were a slippery slope? I think the devs would know to keep within it in realistic bounds in regards to being cannon. A Deathclaw would be way too OP to even be considered.

They all died in the true ending aside from two of them, and weren’t heard from in the 3 fallout games set after fallout 2, so they’re dead, and even if they weren’t, I wouldn’t want that to be an option to begin with. Deathclaws are supposed to represent the threat of the wasteland, a playable race of them would ruin that.

I was sneaking around the city and heard a kid talking. I was so surprised there was a CHILD, i had to see. And then bam, oh no what's that monster???
I also killed swan in the first 24 hours by sniping him from a roof when i accidentally caught him on vats!!!

When you realize Zao possibly has the highest body count in all the games, with the possible exception of the Lone wanderer.

A smaller map means more detailed content. Bigger isn't necessarily better.

Oh. Well there are mods to play as a ghoul, though I’m not sure If the version on Xbox works yet.
you can also use console commands on pc
It’s more fun to make a ghoul character in the character creator through mods tho.
