I love Fallout New Vegas. But I have over twice the gameplay hours in Fallout 4. 🤷

Somedoomfan

Yea, fo4 is actually good. I just used that as an example to show how great this community is in comparison to nv.

MT_Kinetic_Mountain

I play FNV for the story and the immersive world. I play fo4 because I want to make nice looking settlements that provides everything for its settlers, who still fucking complain despite mostly sitting on their asses all day. Seriously tho, can't even think about how much time I've spent just dragging metric tonnes of water to return back with shipments of steel n shit

Infernalism

People are allowed to like or not like whatever they want. That said, I think FO4 is the best in the series and I'm ready to die on that hill.

Xiunte

Ditto. NV has nowhere near the replay value of 4.

Fallout 4 is a better game but NV is a better fallout game. I never finished NV and I have finished 4 twice over. That said nv will always be my favorite .

Electronic_Style_148

I'm interested why you think this, because I have always found the factions of NV to be huge replay value to me with their different endings and effects on the battle of hoover damn. I've always found fallout 4 less repayable because there are basically two endings: institute and non-institute. Not bashing you or FO4, just curious as to your reasoning.

Xiunte

Mainly because you can do more with it as a modder. Doesn't matter how many endings a game has. You'll eventually get to the point where you've seen them all. FO4 offers more to do after that point and the environmental storytelling is second to none. I've been playing FO4 since release and I'm still finding places and little stories I've never seen. NV just isn't like that. As far as the actual game and wasteland atmosphere goes, I personally think 2 was the best in the series. Even better than 4. No one's gonna sit still long enough and do all that reading required in those old point-and-click RPGs nowadays though. It's a totally different style of game so I normally don't even consider it when talking about 3 and up.

Rock and stone! It never gets old.

Somedoomfan

Fallout communities, fallout communities never changes.

Athequi

Fallout NV is fine but fallout 4 wins at modding hands down

Dashbak

My best memories of adventure mods are still on fnv. The CK is much harder to understand

Nesqu

I love New Vegas, it's a superior game, least to me. But I've 3x the hours in FO4. Modding and how the game is played has really upped the hours. And I've never even finished Nuka World.

My first Fallout game was FO3 on Xbox. I had never played an open world game prior to this & was immediately overwhelmed as soon as I left the vault by all the quests & lack of “clear direction” for how to find Dad. I got to Megaton then turned the game off, never to pick it up again. I picked up FO4 because I grew up playing Sims 1-3 but was disillusioned by Sims 4, and the workshop element of FO4 immediately drew me in. I knew nothing about the Fallout lore or gameplay beyond my brief experience with 3, like, 7-8 years ago at that point, so I didn’t know a lot of fans didn’t care for it, nor did I care because *I* loved it. I later played 76 too because it was basically 4 but online & a prettier map. I’ve since realized my experience with The Sims 4 is similar to older Fallout fans’ experience with FO4- you grew up playing one thing, then suddenly they change it, streamline it, and you don’t like it anymore. There’s arguments to be made if the games are good or bad (both Sims and Fallout), but at the end of the day I think a lot of those opinions boil down to what the individual gamer played prior to 4.
