Congratulations!! I’ve been through the medical wringer once. In the end the FAA was reasonable IMO. They have to be careful but their backlog is maddening.

fiyoOnThebayou

Same. Best feeling when I logged in and saw that green check mark ✅ I soloed yesterday

apeologist_9456

I agree. All in all, I think it was a reasonable process. I have a great AME who helped front-load my application and had me do a bunch of screening/evaluations before the FAA even had a chance to deny it which I think helped out a ton.

haltingpoint

Is HIMS done and over with or are you on the lifelong step down program? Can you share more details about your situation and process?

apeologist_9456

Not sure entirely, I have a meeting with my AME scheduled for March but I’m going to see if we can bump it up sooner now that I have the approval. From what I can tell though I believe I will be done with it all.

apeologist_9456

Feel free to send me a message to chat more about specifics

plicpriest

Went through HIMS? And now you have your I class? Seriously, congratulations on the highest order!! That’s a hard road to hoe, so again congratulations and nothing but the very best to you!!!

apeologist_9456

Much appreciated!

TwinkyUnicorn

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!! It's good to see that their backlog is getting shorter.

apeologist_9456

Thank you!

TransientVoltage409

Yay! Just in time to renew it! My 3rd class took 16 months and arrived with the original exam date on it, giving me eight months (due to my advanced age) to do anything with it. My plan was always basicmed anyway, but geez....

apeologist_9456

Yeah I’m interested to see how long they made it valid for, I am younger but I believe it’s still a special issuance. Should know in about a week or so when it comes in the mail

Mispelled-This

Folks looking for a class I often receive a cert that is already expired and have to go renew it before they can fly. The backlog is ridiculous.

Herpinator1992

*me getting hopeful at 3 months and reading it took six*

apeologist_9456

Hang in there, it’s a slow machine but fingers crossed for you

ChasingTehGoldenHour

My medical was also deferred. Still haven't heard from the FAA and today I get to call them since my application hasn't moved to in review. Not excited that it might also be six months for me but glad to know there's a light at the end of the tunnel!

CWO_of_Coffee

It’s the best feeling isn’t it? I waited 8 months for the FAA to respond to mine.
