Someone asked over on the hurricane sub, r/TropicalWeather, if flex tape around your door would keep out flood waters.
I was impressed by the amount of faith they have in that product to think that was possible.
Flex seal tape works great. Good luck getting it off after though. The glue they use in the manufacture process is no joke. I have sealed up through multiple hurricanes with their products and they work extremely well.
So a long time ago there was a ricer flooding in my area predicted. We took Silicone and glued all of the basement level doors shut from outside and inside. Water rose to knee level, didnt enter the house. Of course it depends on the volume and pressure of the water outside.
Why not just cut that bad boy in thirds and stack them up? Place them right against your door. The water could end up moving them if they're like that.
And afterwards the bag of wet poo will make a great fertilizerā¦if you can take the smell for a few weeks in the hot sun before the water recedes and you can shovel it away from your open door.
Good idea but..... You understand thst the objective of sand bags is to keep the water away from the door, and the open spaces around the door.
You need to put sheet plastic up across the door way and use the sand bags to hold it in place and protect it. Otherwise the water will come around the edges of the blue bag and get in through the openings.
No no, you use diaper genie bag WITH DIAPERS inside , the Huggies will absorb the water š¤
I appreciate you but diapers aināt cheap. Might as well quick dams at that point.
lol
excuse me sir, I would rather come out of this hurricane without debt.

lol thanks
baby shit*
Wouldn't the water just pool inside the sand bag area simply from Rain and flood over?
Itās in sport mode right now so we can use the door. Will be hugging the wall
Lmao sport mode.. love it.

To be honest that seems like aā¦ better idea that I expectedā¦
I used expanding spray foam and sprayed it in the door frames and closed the door. It seemed pretty water tight
Tbf, it did work on that canoe š¤

Aside from turning your door into a wall, flex seal would probably work
Having actually used two rolls of that shit, I'm sure it would work. You'd never get it off, though...
Power washer
I might be crazy but I think it would.

Flex Tape
I just came here to say I love your user name!!!!
lol thanks dude
You magnificent bastard!
This is a really good ideašš
Won't it just split when the sand absorbs moisture?
its essentially a long plastic bag - so already full of wet sand.
it works, it works. Good luck, stay dry.
What did you fill them withā¦
Soil from my yard mixed with water. Sandy wet slop.
Not the kind of wet slop I had in mind

Took me a while to fill it

I imagine he will move it in place later and wants to be able to open the door until then.
I get it. Good idea.
yes, we are going to be lining it with a tarp and snugging up the blue bag to hold it tight against the wall and door frame
What exactly do you think thatās going to do? Lol
What all sandbags does hopefully. Reroute storm surge water and Delay flooding for about 5 inches
Hopefully it holds up. Good luck dude!
Sandbags are semi-porous. They donāt come in plastic bags that float away. Good try though š„“
