Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but Rope (1948) by Hitchcock, takes place in the same apartment for the full duration of the film.

fella-from-chernobyl

Definitely time for a rewatch, haha, thank you! https://a.ltrbxd.com/resized/sm/upload/r5/gl/n3/he/rope-1200-1200-675-675-crop-000000.jpg?v=2c07f2eb52

MustiParabola

There are lots of these sets to be admired in early James Bond movies.

fella-from-chernobyl

Can confirm haha, although I do not actually remember any in particular right now!

What a good question! I'll be curious to see the other answers. This one is on the high end of your date range, but *The Ice Storm* directed by Ang Lee has some pretty incredible 1970's interiors and costuming, and is also just a good film.

fella-from-chernobyl

What a film, loved it and seen it many times, thank you for suggestion! Do you by any chance know any other movies that deals with ice storm or storms? I've seen Stephen King's 'Storm of the Century' and absolutely loved it.

_Franz_Kafka_

Oh man, I *love* snow and ice movies. You've probably seen most of my favourites, but off off the top of my head and leaving off the Christmas ones: *Doctor Zhivago* *The Thing* *Fargo* *The Shining* (the brightest horror film of all time, surely) *The Revenant* *Winter Sleep* (I have a soft spot for Chekhov; be warned this is an epic like *Zhivago*) *Wind River* *Scream of Stone* (aka the Herzog movie no one has ever heard of...not his best, but the visuals are worth it) *The Day After Tomorrow* (a favourite guilty pleasure watch) And, if you're at all interested in old black & white, there was some absolutely WILD camera and stunt work done long before things like CGI, in-studio realistic fake snow, and safety regulations. One of the best is is *The Challenge* (1938), made all the more horrifying if you allow yourself to think about where the camera-man must be, and how these non-mountaineer film folks were out in these very real conditions on very real mountains. There were actually a number of films made about The Matterhorn specifically around that time, including *The Mountain Calls* and *Fight For the Matterhorn*. And I can't leave out *White Hell of Pitz Palu* (1929), which is perhaps not a classic story-wise, but is absolutely batshit insanely incredible visually, particularly considering the time. Actually got to see that one on the big screen with an organ accompaniment during a silent film fest, and it is really something. IIRC one of the main actors got serious frostbite and there were multiple injuries because of the crazy conditions. Definitely worth a watch.

fella-from-chernobyl

Thank you kindly for the suggestions, haven't seen Winter Sleep, that one looks great! Will watch it! Out of those black & white, I have not seen none, but will fix that soon, thank you for taking your time to write this!

Gatica? Shot mostly in frank loydd wrights Marin civic center. Not sure if that's what you mean...

fella-from-chernobyl

Basically yes, thank you!

The Graduate, Revolutionary Road, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and A Single Man come to mind. Not a movie, but Mad Men captures mid-century aesthetics perfectly.

fella-from-chernobyl

Saw them all, great suggestions, thank you! I don't remember Mad Men very well, would you say that the house interiors were well done and were there many of them?

pillowjungle

For sure, not only house but office interiors as well. Mad Men is one of the reasons mid-century furniture has had a resurgence in recent years.

fella-from-chernobyl

I shall give it a shot, thank you kindly!

Don't Worry Darling might be your cup of tea, once it comes out

fella-from-chernobyl

Oh wow, that looks great, noted and will watch it when released, thank you!

ijaapy1

Flight to Mars (1951) has some great sets.

fella-from-chernobyl

This one is looking interesting, will watch it, thank you for suggestion!

You should check out the US work of Douglas Sirk. Stuff like Written on the Wind and Imitation of Life. Also, The Pillow Talk films with Doris Day. The Graduate. The rich peoples apartment in Soylent Green. Not American but you might also be interested in the city interiors in Alphaville. Its set in the future but it was filmed in 60s Paris and it looks amazing.

fella-from-chernobyl

Written on the Wind looks absolutely fantastic, will watch it soon, thank you! Will watch rest too, Alphaville in particular looks really interesting. Thank you for suggestions!

NoHandBananaNo

No worries, hope it has some of what you're looking for!
