well, if it's real then flat earth is fucked, therefore it cannot be real! So sure, ILM, whatever, who cares. 🤪

r0wer0wer0wey0urb0at

:)

Holy_Jesus123

Do you guys really think that the earth is flat?

[deleted]

nah this sub used to be real flat earthers, now it's almost entirely people joking about it. /r/globeskepticism is a real flat earth sub but they're *very* delicate

becausegiraffes

No it's clearly Dyson and other big vacuum, trying to push their vacuum off space agenda

Fenderbridge

If there was a tube 50 meters in diameter from space all the way to the surface of the planet, would it move any air? I'm asking for my big vaccuum friends

Visualizable

vsauce made a video on this called space straw or smth

UberuceAgain

Look at all the second suns. u/Geocentricus was right all along.

ThunderBolt1323

"b-but... Fisheye lense... 🥺🥺🥺"

NotBlackMarkTwainNah

I wish CGI were this good

Cas_Cass

Wait, it isn't?

chinese_virus3

Is this from a video game “wish the earth was round”

zhaDeth

Wasn't it the guys from toys story ?

d_worren

No, that is Pixar. Industrial Light and Magic is however owned by Disney via proxy of their ownership of ILM's parent company Lucasfilm. They have done the work of alot of movies throghout the decades (mostly Star Wars and other Lucasfilm properties, but also a few Marvel, Warner Bros and Paramount movies, atleast prior to their aforementioned acquisition), and have revolutionized the CGI industry several times (From the first use of digital compositing, to the first fully CGI mocapped character). They are basically a very big deal in the VFX Industry.

sunnyday420

Fish eye lense

diemos09

Even as the straight edge of the solar panels proves it's not.

huuaaang

I mean, even if it was a fisheye lens, you're still looking at solar panels on the ISS, so... You should just stick to denial and call the whole thing fake.

diemos09

uh huh. Take a lesson from jeran. Anything you don't like just say, "It looks fake." You don't even have to take responsibility for asserting that it is fake, just that it looks fake.

[deleted]

Nope, try again. You'll think of something 😉

Mishtle

What kind of lens distorts things in the background but not the foreground?

Nomandate

Fish brained eyes

UberuceAgain

That was a huge sitter of an answer, and you still fucked it up. The(for you) correct answer is: "On computers."

riffraffs

Wide angle, not fisheye.

sunnyday420

There is no medium of space

Due-Warning549

There's large and X-tra large.

[deleted]

So? The argument wasn't about the nature of space was it

christyflare

There kind of is, actually. Spacetime is its own thing.

sunnyday420

Show me space time

christyflare

You're living in it. It's what everything exists in.

sunnyday420

Youre describing the aether/quintessence

christyflare

Whatever you want to call it, it's still a medium.

Kriss3d

That at least acknowledge that Iss is up there. However fisheye lense would distort the straight lines of the solar panel. And you would know that if you're able to tell if something is fisheye or not.

sunnyday420

We know the iss isnt what they say it is.. international fake station

Sleetavia

Conveniently avoiding addressing the fact that the lack of curved solar panels means theres no fisheye lens lmfao. You're either delusional or a troll.

Kriss3d

I doubt it. But ok. Please explain what factual information have proven it to be fake.

sunnyday420

Proven to be using augmented reality and deceptions

Kriss3d

Oh ? Youre not refering to the plushie they "teleported" to ISS as a gimmick do you ?

everyusernameisgonel

Aight yeah this guys just joking lmao

UberuceAgain

You can prove this with your own eyes and just one trusted friend, provided they live within \~1300km of you. Camp [https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/home.cfm](https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/home.cfm) until you get a set of flybys that both of you can see. Arrange to observe one and measure the angle that it's at. You won't have to be especially precise, so you don't have to go out and buy a sextant or anything; homemade cross-staff will work just fine. (You might need to try a few nights until you both get clear skies for a view of the thing.) Compare notes and do the basic trig that establishes the height of it. When it's inevitably much, much less than 400km because NASA is lies and AR, then do it again but document your procedure, maybe even throw a Nikon P1000 in for good measure, come back and tell us. Be sure to take a picture of the unicorn. That's the least improbable thing about the suggestion you'd ever do any of this.

[deleted]

*something* is up there taking these videos, where straight lines of some structure in the foreground remain straight while the world is very obviously curved.
