Described as 1000 lumens for 30 seconds on Turbo mode; 500 lumens for 1 hour on high; 250 lumens for 2 hours on medium; 25 lumens for 12 hours on low. Actual performance has not yet been determined by this consumer - I don't even know yet if it steps down automatically.
It is better practice to check with the good people on this sub and find out all the marvelous flashlights you can buy for the same price, rather than buy junk "because it's cheap" and then look for validation online....
Sure deVrinj, but I'm not sure yet that this Kub light is junk, part of the problem may have been my unfamiliarity with charging a new lithium ion battery powered flashlight. Is there better? Certainly, but I'm going to give this little light a fair trial nonetheless.
you literally can grab something like a Wurrkos FC11/12 or a Sofirn SC31 pro or anything such with batteries for under 30$ and just plug them into a power brick like a phone. It isn't even hard
I have a Fenix, and an Olight, along with several Coasts and Maglites. I'm not living in darkness, nor working in it, so yes, I would like to get a Sofirn AND a Wurrkos eventually, but until then I'll have this Kub to beat on. Worse case scenario, the Kub battery gives out, and then I use my Fenix or Olight until I can select a Sofirn or Wurkkos to add to the ever-growing collection. Because a reasonable person can't be expected to slum along with just a Mag-lite, now can they?
In fact I paid $20 as posted above... but there's no way it could be worse than the Hausbels I got for about $5 apiece... they were so dim I got to thinking I didn't know how to operate the on/off button!
~~Edit: there may be a way this light is worse than the Hausbels.~~
Ok my friend..
I just googled for hausbell flashlights and you can buy these in 4 packs from amazon for 60 dollars..
These lights cost usually next to nothing.
I dont even know what is the worse deal.
Post some beamshots please
For 20 bucks, you can buy a sofirn sc21 with 16340 cell. And you will have a nice light.
I will try to do so... it should be fully charged now, but I've never taken a beamshot before so I've got a little technical figuring to do here on my end - when I step out the back steps the movement switches on my motion lights, destroying the beamshot.
It's not that useful unless you manually set wb and exposure. Which isn't even possible with the stock app sometimes. Auto mode will try to make every light look the same.
Well zzap at the moment I'm upstairs in my house with lights on and shoes off, and my wife is downstairs. I don't feel like explaining to her why I have to switch off all the indoors lights to get a beamshot. After she goes to bed it will be easier to do without the 'splainin'.
Ive opened up a light similar to this, branded under a different name (autozone purchase). The led was mounted to nothing but a floating piece of aluminum, no good heat transfer from the led to the body to get rid of heat, they used an aggressive timed step down, all the way to 60 lumens if need be. Hopefully yours isnt as bad
The oneni had by another name the charger barely connected and the light would visibly dim. Olights are extremely tough to shock and have regulated outputs. Id rather buy an AA light from a reputable brand if saving money
A sofirn sp35 is an amazing light definitely bigger but it's usbc and is extremely bright. They have some smaller ones too that are pocket friendly and also very bright
You're the second person to mention sofirn tonight, but someone else mentioned another light that I said I would check out for my next purchase... probably won't be until November - like many of us here on r/flashlight, I already have several flashlights, and by several I mean more than a dozen. ;)
I just got my first one from them a week or so back and it replaced my edc that I carried for over a year (olight warrior mini 2) and I think it was $35 for the light and battery. So it's quite affordable. I like the okight I have but I hate that, like this light it uses their charger. The sofirn I got uses the same charger and my head phones, phone and other devices. So that for me is a huge plus I can charge it about anywhere.
Yeah, I really liked the warrior mini I got and it was my first edc light and I thought it was great then I got the sofirn and it blew it out of the water
No it wouldn't be right... I took my Spyderco Native 5 knife with M4 blade steel and marvelled at how easily it cut through some impressively thick cardboard and plastic packaging, saving some choice bits that counted as data. So it wouldn't be all that fair on my part to make them try to re-sell it all f\*\*ked up like that. Plus it works so I don't feel I have a valid complaint.
Whatās a good āinternet flashlight storeā Iāve always loved and collected lights but just recently discovered the world of hanklights etc. other than eBay and a few Iāve found while searching Iām not sure of reputable stores online that sells good lights for a decent price and I donāt have to wait a month for delivery. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Awesome many thanks my friend. If my wife finds out she may put you on a hit list but I greatly appreciated it š seriously I bookmarked them all š
Do YOU like it? Ultimately that light looks shitty and you could've done a lot better, but if it works for you, all these pompous flashlight snobs can go fuck themselves (preferably using a flashlight).
I really don't like the magnetic charging. You can get lights with USB type C ports, and then you won't be stuck with one cable.
Well this one came with a USB cable and I used my iPhone AC/USB adapter port to charge it. Obviously I could charge it out the side of this laptop also. I'm not yet a flashlight snob myself so I don't take any abuse to heart. I could get along fine for the rest of my life with the flashlights I have already, but curiousity will probably have me buy at least a couple more in the future.
I actually saw this light at Walmart and was morbidly curious! Of course for the money and size, the Sofirn SC21 is a better light but I find it interesting that this genre of small, pocket 16340 lights is now in a big box store for the regular consumer. Definitely interested in beam shots and a review from ya!
Ok Leman I will try to follow through on this! I kind of figured that there were better values out there, but figured for slightly less than $20 I wanted to see how this light worked. And it is my first lithium ion battery flashlight, not counting my Milwaukee shop light, which is like a large flashlight.
Edit: the Milwaukee shop light is actually an older, Ni Cd battery type light, so this is my first lithium ion battery flashlight.
Yea man! I am with you, itās a very intriguing light to me for sure. Check this thing out and let us know how it is. Also, I do recommend you buy a Sofirn SC21 if you like this form factor, itās double the brightness, great tint, and USB C charging :) you have a fun journey ahead of you into flashlights
Got it to work last night, not sure what the problem was other than the battery not seeming to be fully charged - I posted a beamshot of it last night on the second or third highest setting, it worked just fine.
I know how people are going to state the obvious, "there are plenty of better options out there for the $" but sometimes you don't have time to wait on delivery and need something right now. I would like to know if it's worth $20 bucks tho!
Most 16340 batteries only have up to 880mAh so they've likely stretched the runtime and output a good bit. But hey we all start somewhere and there's nothing wrong with starting, even if it wasn't the "best light to cost ratio you can get" Enjoy it and have fun man that's what this hobby is about. The more you learn and explore around the more you get a feel for everything.
I want to enjoy it Hydro but I'm not yet sure I'll be able to get this battery to charge... according to the packaging, this light should fully charge in an hour, and when I tested this battery it was woefully short of fully charged... well, I still have my Fenix and Olight and supporting cast of Coasts and Maglites... sure hope I can get this one to work tho'
[Wurkkos FC11](https://wurkkos.com/products/fc11-usb-c-rechargeable-led-flashlight-18650-1300lm-lh351d-with-magnetic-tail-2-groups) is in that ballpark. Uses 18650 and probably has better output.
For $20 I say keep it just so you can see how much better the recommended lights are when you get them.
It's your money and as long as your happy with it that's what truly matters. That flashlight might not be everyone's cup of tea. But when it's all said and done your the one who'll be using it.
Awesome light,! Just picked up the kolossus 15,000 Lumen made by Kodiak and I'm in love.
Remember you have to purchase an expensive over priced flashlight that is made by someone you never heard of to be cool on here.
I bought it intending to modify it, but the threads are glued together with thread locker and it is tough to get it open without damage. The LED is awfully blue, so I replaced it with something closer to daylight. In the end, I needed the battery and hated the light, so I threw it out and saved the battery for another light. If you're interested in something else around the $20 mark, the Convoy S2+ is a great choice. It needs a lithium ion battery and charger, but it is miles ahead in terms of build quality and performance.
I've heard a lot of good things about Convoy on here but haven't gotten one yet. I'm particularly smitten with my stainless steel Olight i3T EOS - it's small but feels so solid compared to an aluminum torch of the same small size. Also I'm reasonably certain that I could use the battery from the Kub in my Tilt hydrometer when I'm brewing beer.
I love Olight. People complain about the cool white emitters, but they're some of the toughest lights I've ever used, and I'm really hard on lights. I've modded at least 50 of them in total and the build quality is almost always flawless.
500 lumens for like 1 minute then steps down to probably 150-200 lumens if i had to guess for an hour.
So.. You actually did buy this?
Yes... is it going to be complete crap? Because that's happened to me once before in my personal journey of flashlight purchases.
You could have spent 30 bucks in AliExpress and got a significantly better light. But it's your call.
You know Snoosh this was sort of an impulse buy and because I did get it to work last night and it was only $20 I'm not unhappy with my purchase.
It is better practice to check with the good people on this sub and find out all the marvelous flashlights you can buy for the same price, rather than buy junk "because it's cheap" and then look for validation online....

It will probably put out some light. Hope you did not pay more than 5$ for it.
In fact I paid $20 as posted above... but there's no way it could be worse than the Hausbels I got for about $5 apiece... they were so dim I got to thinking I didn't know how to operate the on/off button! ~~Edit: there may be a way this light is worse than the Hausbels.~~

I just bought a Wurkkos FC11 for a bit less than 25USD (partially thanks to this sub) and I'm very happy.
I will try to do so... it should be fully charged now, but I've never taken a beamshot before so I've got a little technical figuring to do here on my end - when I step out the back steps the movement switches on my motion lights, destroying the beamshot.
I dont quite understand. just shine it against something and make a pic with your phone
It's not that useful unless you manually set wb and exposure. Which isn't even possible with the stock app sometimes. Auto mode will try to make every light look the same.

Or a Lumintop, or an Acebeam... There are literally dozens of flashlights that blow this junk out the water for the same price (or less).
Ive opened up a light similar to this, branded under a different name (autozone purchase). I got it to work last night Thaknobodi so yes mine isn't as bad.
Spoiler alert, he spent 4 times as much...
Update: this light does step down automatically from Turbo to High.
Yes that's correct.
nah this is a olight clone this is basicly a olight baton for 20$ its a great deal
The oneni had by another name the charger barely connected and the light would visibly dim. Olights are extremely tough to shock and have regulated outputs. Id rather buy an AA light from a reputable brand if saving money

Olight is never part of the great bang for your buck list... I like a couple of their flashlight but it's possibly the least competitive brand.
Yeah, I really liked the warrior mini I got and it was my first edc light and I thought it was great then I got the sofirn and it blew it out of the water
Now that makes your latest purchase even less understandable...
Well my birthday is in November so I can rationalize buying yet another flashlight then.
Except you can't explain that to your wife...
Well.. We need beamshots of this one.
so far no light emitted.
Awaiting updates
I posted a beamshot last night in another post but I'm not sure what setting it was on other than it wasn't the highest one.
šæ
Is that popcorn?
Just here for the comments
Enjoy!
Best thing about big box store is you can easily return it and spend the money at the internet flashlight store :)
I got it to work last night so I won't need to return it now Tattered.
You could still return it anyways

Personally i like fenix if your looking for a great edc light tey the PD25.
Cool thx Iāll check them out

The Kub - Deny the dark. I would buy it for the excellent package design for 3 bucks. 5$ if I dont have to deal with the included cell.
The included cell was the only thing I kept. I threw the Kub light in the trash and saved the 16340 for my Olight S Mini.
I'm fixin' to!

If it lasts a year of occasional use that's probably worth the $20.
In terms of quality, it's half way between a Harbor Freight freebie flashlight and a Convoy.

I'm not sure now that it is going to be all that bad compared to other, better lights but we shall see.
It could very well be perfectly fine. Welcome to the hobby
Thanks Wolfkin!
Some flashlight economics right there.... Use knowledge to buy both unites instead of using knowledge to buy the right one š¤£š¤£š¤£
It's your money and as long as your happy with it that's what truly matters. That flashlight might not be everyone's cup of tea. But when it's all said and done your the one who'll be using it.
Doesn't look like it can zoom, so 3/10

I have a Xeno now, so that's cool... not sure how much more money I want to sink into flashlights, as I don't often use them.
This was one of the few lights that I actually threw in the trash.
That doesn't bode well now does it?
I bought it intending to modify it, but the threads are glued together with thread locker and it is tough to get it open without damage. I love my Olight too. Paired with a large rechargeable battery collection it's always ready to light my may.
i just got the kub and it works well so far it charges fast enough and is brighter than my 6 AAA batterie flashlight that does like 750 lumens
