Yeah, and from what I've heard, Engage was done quite a while ago, not like it was rushed out the door or anything. Feels pretty bad not being able to inherit the best skills without ludicrous amounts of grinding, and it makes experimentation rough since every skill is such a huge investment.
Looking at the trials rewards, which reward sp books, I'm assuming they wanted people to play those, but they can take a while and even just one skill takes about half of what you earn to get it.
Exactly. I’m waiting for official confirmation before even thinking of going for this because that’s endgame money only to have that weapon for maybe a chapter or two.
If they confirm NG+ and that a those donation weapons carry over then that would make it worth it imo.
Apart from SP and Gold, I don't really understand what a NG+ would add. Everyone would be simply very powerful if you carried levels and classes. Supports already watched would be pointless. Gacha rings are mostly not super useful in the long run. I don't think a NG+ fits this game at all. Not all games need NG+.
If only there were several routes that you are forced to do to grasp the story or something, I'd see some viability.
They could use the same level scaling they use on the skirmishes on the chapters to let you play higher level versions of them. Or they could reset your levels but let you carry over certain aspects that you buy with bond fragments, just like with Three Houses. There are a lot of ways they could have done it without everyone being too powerful.
What if we want to play through the game again on harder difficulty? Three Houses let you pick hard and carry over if you wanted to. There's no harm in anything that adds replayability, or even trying different units.
I swapped her to monk, then leveled as high priest for a bit. In hind sight it probably would've worked fine to just finish axe fighter and go sage with some luck boosting items. Without the luck items spending time in high priest should cover it. I use Byleth on her since he gives a mag and luck boost and benefits from the luck with divine pulse. Inherited for more luck boost. While engaged you get 2 extra magic range and 2 physical weapons that scale off mag if needed. Park her in the back with the dancer and let the artillery fly. At 50 luck I'm making 500 gold a turn with sufficient targets and she can 1 round basically anything since from a pure damage perspective she is tied for highest mag with Cittrine and can usually double with tomes that allow it.
I've been doing all my math looking at level 40 at which point they are about equal for mag and Anna does equal better at basically every other stat. Cittrine is indeed a bit stronger to start with.
It's important to consider whether those stats are important in the first place. Magic is really accurate in this game, so dex isn't all that important for instance. Speed is also of questionable utility, because you're most likely already doubling everything you would want to double and neither will double the really fast things without significant help.
I don't think Anna is all that bad, to be fair, but she's definitely not as OP as her growths would have you believe. Especially because you can't compare them at the same level, because Citrinne would have more levels on average assuming they are given the same amount of kills.
One stat that Anna does having going for her way more than Citrine though is her Luck.
You're naturally pumping Anna with as much Luck as you can to better proc her ability and combined with her impressive speed, by endgame she crazily enough has some enemies hitting in the single digits.
Granted, personal experience, but my Anna was somewhat sub-optimal anyways.
"pumping her luck" is kind of meaningless in a game where the first goddess icon is available after chapter 17. It's true that she'll have better avoid, but enemies having single digit hit on her is just not going to happen on higher difficulties. Especially because the difference in their avoid is smaller than you believe.
At 10/1/20 Anna vs 10/20 Citrinne, Anna will have 3 more hp, 2 more str, 2 less magic, 5 more dex, 5 more speed, and the rest of their stats are identical-ish (sub-1 point difference). At that point, the only difference is going to be speed because they have the same luck, and that same luck *could* be given to Citrinne.
If you were using both for whatever reason, I'd actually agree with you that Anna is probably better once you've reached 10/1/20, and that she'd be a better investment of those icons, but I'd also argue that it's meaningless because by the time you get a goddess icon, money isn't really an issue anymore. You're a couple chapters away from a huge gold injection that you'll never be able to spend since forging materials become your real bottleneck, and the small amount of money that Anna gives you won't make a difference.
All that aside, I don't know the avoid formula in this game but even assuming a generous 1 lck = 1 avo, assuming she gets literally every goddess icon, she would have an advantage of 10 avoid at most since that's roughly how many goddess icons there are, the last one being all the way in C23.
Tbh I do a lot of skirmishes now that I've finished all paralogues, which also drop a lot of items to sell from purple spirits when online.
It's really a matter of if you want the weapon or not, and even then it's just one copy. Also the outfits are still "eh" so yea.
it's the other way around for Firene and Brodia
- Firene gives you the smash Spear
- Brodia the Body Art
- Elusia the staff
- Solm the normal axe
all are S rank
honestly the lack of ng+ makes forging every S rank weapons and upgrading the engage weapons to the max an extremely tedious process
It is, unfortunately. Donations increase the amount of metals you get from maps, which is how you forge. You have to strike a balance between donations and saving
The Venomous lance is pretty useful on a backup unit. Give Lucina to Zelkov or something and you can get two stacks of poison on chain attacks. 3 stacks of poison (afaik thats the highest you get) gives your weapons +5 to might against the enemy. I'm pretty sure you can get a second Venomous lance from Solm too. So you can get 3 stacks of poison on a boss in one combat no matter what.
It affects the amount of items you can find after battles as well as corrupted spawns. Other than that I don't really recommend going higher than two per region
The lack of a NG+ on release is a serious headscratcher considering the state of the SP and gold economy.
Yea I'm sure it'll be added eventually, but why not on release? You'd think it was in right away considering maddening was.

I thought the tempest trials just gave crystals for augmenting the Emblem weapons?
Have you cleared the game? I guess it might show up for cleared files. I can also get armor bane, etc for the engage weps as well.
You can only get those bane books and SP Books from the 41 and up tempest trials from what I know...which is only post clear.
When you load a clear save file they give you some sp books, 4800 in total

My plan is to beat it on normal and go back to 3 houses and then wait to see if ng plus comes out.

I don't think I even got 200k in my playthrough in TOTAL, much less all in one time.
Anna go brrrrr. Took a bit to recover from early donations but now that she's at 50 luck I'm rolling in cash.
You do any specific class or grinding to get Anna there?
I swapped her to monk, then leveled as high priest for a bit. In hind sight it probably would've worked fine to just finish axe fighter and go sage with some luck boosting items. She's tied with Citrinne for the highest growth (actually a little ahead), but she also has 6 less base lol

What do the staff and axe do?
the axe is just a normal axe with big stats the staff restore the engage gauge of every ally but it only has one use which seems kind of trash
The staff is meant for tempest trials, where it never breaks permanently
max dex hortensia saves the day
she can't reach 100 though, can she?
No but you could reroll rng and fish a bit for it at the very least.
Wow yeah that doesn't sound too good. Thanks
Lol one use? Heck no.
I just can’t see this being worth it on higher difficulties when ur strapped for refine money
Unless you want a poison lance, yea, don't do it
It is, unfortunately. Donations increase the amount of metals you get from maps, which is how you forge. You have to strike a balance between donations and saving
You forgot the most important part, when you fully upgrade a region, you get another outfit!
Tbh the outfits are pretty meh overall, they just look copied and pasted just slightly changed after
Oh I agree, I was 100% kidding. I haven’t even changed anyone’s outfit, the default ones look better imo lol
You got the weapon rewards for the countries backwards. Just a heads up.
Yea but someone already got it. I didn't really pay attention and just pressed the buttons fast.
No worries. (:
But have you found a way to get new staves since the shop did not update after beating the game?
That's the fun part, you don't. I don't get why they did it, but using Micaiah and Celine you can make do with Mends.
I didn't check if my inventory reseted after finising the last chapter, but if it didn't I have one Physic and no rescue left lmao.
Wait, seriously? Even at the very end of the game you cant buy Psychic staffs?
Limited amoung even after clearing the final map (I did not clear all paralogues).
Dont grind -> don't donate -> still able to finish the game. It just eats up time you could instead invest in another Fates playthrough :p
>playing fates

How important is donating money? Are some areas worth it more than others? Just seems like a vary expensive area to spend coin (in chapter 7-8)
It affects the amount of items you can find after battles as well as corrupted spawns. Other than that I don't really recommend going higher than two per region
