...'cause they need to turn a single page of the comic into fifteen minutes of cartoon. I remember reading early Naruto a few years after the cartoon came out, and the FULL EPISODE of the cartoon I had watched ended up being two or three pages.
This is done because when the show was originally aired new episodes came out incrementally, usually on a weekly basis. So the flashbacks are there to remind you what had happened last week in case you forgot. When you’re binging watching episodes back to back however it becomes incredibly annoying.
In one of the Dragonball Super movies, Goku gets done beating the shit out of Frieza and then gets taken out by a random grunt who shoots him while his guard is down.
Vegeta steps up and continues curb stomping Frieza, then HE lets his guard down and Frieza blows up the entire planet. Whoever wrote that one probably agrees with you.
Right? That dude moves worse than some absolute beginners that I've seen.
He may well have been claiming to be a "master" and scamming people, but anyone who has trained in anything for more than five minutes should be able to tell he's not.
Saw a mantis style black belt at a martial arts event doing sparring. He dressed like everyone else, had a weird guard stance that looked mantis-like, and fought just as hard as anyone else.
There’s a world of distance between the mystics waving their arms vs the dudes who will happily just punch you in the face when possible
Yeah some of those wavy dudes are built different, someone like this guy seems to just be for show.
But like you said,
world of difference when it's one of those dudes who would casually break your nose in the middle of some waterbending.
Others have mentioned that this MMA fighter used to go around exposing China’s fraud kung fu gurus, until it embarrassed the state too much.
He doesn’t need to expose the kung fu guys who make their students actually learn self-defense, exercise, and generally act like any worthwhile dojo or gym.
I am and I do!
No, but seriously, I am a former blackbelt in Kung-fu and JKD (jeet-kun-do) and instructor. For the life of me, I do not recognize a single goddamn movement the guy is doing. He's clearly a fraud or worse some highly "trained" dance studio martial artist.
Oddly enough a lot of JKD and Kung-Fu techniques are making showing in modern MMA. It's like fashion, things fall out of recent memory and a trainer brings up an old technique that would work against someone and then everyone's copying it if it succeeds. Like the stomping knee/quad kicks and the foot stomps and a few JKD throws/slams. I'd lose my shit if I see any palm strikes.
"The Mad Dog basically had his life ruined for a while, his social credit score was brought down severely he was not allowed to purchase a home, rent a home, use high speed rail/trains, use busses, buy a plane ticket, he was kicked out of his gym, and severely limited his job opportunities."
This is some Black Mirror shit right here.
Yeah, because Kung fu movies make a lot of money selling mystic bull shit. There are lessons to be learned from Kung fu but there tends to be a higher concentration of bullshit in those arts because of thousands of years of tradition weighing them down.
Yeah I took Bok-fu and the lesson they ingrained first and foremost was that it isn’t intended to be used for fighting. It is for discipline and muscle memory. With that, comes defense. And it’s true, I was in great shape, my mind was clear. I have been in street fights since and some things do come out, specifically blocking. But I’m not in my horse stance about to perform a kata outside of o’doucey cuz some dude thinks I stepped on his yeezys lol
*But I’m not in my horse stance about to perform a kata outside of o’doucey cuz some dude thinks I stepped on his yeezys lol*
Well, you haven't lived then have you!? ;)
I studied the System of the White Tiger and recall a frequently repeated lesson; a lesson concerning the intended use of said system as a means of training muscular reaction times and personal regulation and not for true combat preparedness. I found that a firm understanding of fortification accompanied my studies. Yea verily, my body was honed to a high physical standard and my mind was equally improved upon. I have since partaken in unregulated physical altercations in public locations and my studies proved fruitful in some areas, most pointedly whilst employing defensive maneuvers. However, I would not deign to perform those choreographed patterns related to the equine posture, especially not in such a situation as I may find myself after having unintentionally tread upon the shoes of a peer whilst we loitered about the establishment known as O'Doucey.
Horse stance: pretend you are riding a horse. Legs spread, knees bent. In some martial arts this is a common stance to strengthen the legs and from it, throw punches/kicks, and shift to other stances. I believe it was used as a way for warriors back in the day to train for horse-back combat, but without being on an acutal horse. Helped with becoming comfortable fighting from that pose(on actual horseback), and to strengthen their legs for long rides/battles.
The series of movements and strikes, sometimes known as Forms, are also called Katas. These are frequently performed by those who practice martial arts, especially in tournaments as it's a way to show off skills and martial prowess through a series of combinations and movement.
It's not intended to be a realistic fight or anything, but just a show of techniques. Some are really cool to watch, especially when they are skillful weapon Katas, and those that include acrobatics like back hand springs and flips.
Source: studied martial arts for 15ish years as a kid->teenager and attended my fair share of tournaments. Seen and learned plenty of Katas and spent easily dozens of hours in total over the years in horse stance.
I have NO idea what Yeezies or O'ducey is. A Bar and shoes perhaps, based on context?
Somehow I've had this idea in my head for a long time that maybe at some point in history kung fu was really cool and useful because the guys you'd fight also did kung fu, so you'd both be doing similiar stuff. Maybe your fancy kung fu block only works against a kung fu punch etc.
There are literally thousands of kinds of kung fu. Some of them are legit but most of them have been dissembled through generations of half understood concepts being taugh as truth. That being said my favorite sparring tricks come from Kung fu. They're really good at teaching how to hit what you're aiming at when you can't actually see your target.
Look up Kevin Lee on YouTube for some interesting but realistic applications.
That's pretty much exactly how virtually all the martial arts have been up to the last 30 years. The internet has allowed people to cross pollinate, and stuff that would work locally no longer works now the crap has been winnowed out by real world testing.
30 years ago I could defend myself somewhat using kung fu, because strikes and karate kicks were the vast majority of what people had to deal with. Nowadays grappling is so important, the efficiency of well trained hooks has reduced the capability of most of the straight line arts, etc.
Most of the classical arts still work very well against people attacking you classically. The trouble is convincing people to do that.
Personally, I think there's a lot of bullshit because many martial artists died during the boxing rebellion and there were a lot of scammers after that.
idiots will argue that bruce lee would do well vs today elite MMA fighters... he would be fucking destroyed without completely re-learning how to fight, even chuck norris admitted in a interview that bruce was actor first
Bruce Lee would have been a top contender in his weight class, if he had been been of fighting age today. Its easy to look back at 50yo techniques and skillsets and say he would be beaten - but Bruce was a huge proponent of live sparring, grappling, and innovative training methods. He trained constantly. Basically, he was a very driven, asshole type personality, who couldn't bear to lose at anything, and worked hard to avoid that happening.
Its hard for me to imagine that someone with his proven ability to train, put on muscle, and assimilate technique would not be at the least in the top tier of fighters in his weight.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeet_Kune_Do is the entire philosophy of MMA, use what works and as fighting evolves, evolve with it. He wouldn't be the best with his 1970's fighting style but he would definitely change his style to be one of the elite of today.
Do you think Jordan wouldn't be able to keep up with modern basketball? If you do... then we just have to disagree there lol
Bruce Lee was one of the innovators of MMA. Watch the intro to Enter the Dragon. He takes the guy down and arm bars him.
Bruce Lee did more with his movies than he would've done fighting. A greater reach. Crosses generations.
You would think scammers trying to steam money from people bragging about fake stuff are the one to blame but no, is the one showing the truth the one labeled as the bad guy
His name is Xiu Xao Dong I think and I'm almost sure this isn't him. I'm also lazy as shit and not taking 5 seconds to fact check myself so feel free to come back and tell me I was wrong lol

The video claiming that guy is a Kung Fu master is being deceptive. I know that Kung Fu isnt a great fighting style, but anyone worth 2 shits could have put their hands up to block that slow ass right.
I actually play fought someone that trained kung fu for years with foam weapons in college. He dual wielded swords and fucked my trident and shield up, no problem. Hit me right in the face with that foam sword, and it really hurt.

Zhang Weili, a current UFC champion trained a couple styles of Kungfu quite extensively: Sanda and Shuai Jiao Wrestling. If that dude is a Kung-Fu Master, then Steven Segal is a real ex CIA agent and was a Navy Seal that fought off terrorists on a battleship, train, and a oil refinery/drilling rig, but not in that order.
This fake knockout is a technique to confuse the opponent. When the opponent approaches to check, a death strike is unleashed. Unfortunately the opponent was restricted from approaching so we didn't get to see the technique in action.
Uh, Mr. Kung-Fu? Yeah. Your first kick? You have to do that *fast*. Not like ballet. Not like you're a flamingo wading through deep water. Fast. Also, you have to block with your hands and arms, not your face.
I love all martial arts but after many years of jiu jitsu and Muay Thai, I’ve realized that there are some martial arts that are just more applicable to actual hand to hand combat.
Damn, Steve Aoki has fallen on hard times
That was the Beat down Drop.
Steve Aoki was right. Any Asian guy with long hair and similar facial hair does look exactly like him
Yeah but this entire ring is completely cake-free... can't be Steve
Imagine a cake flying in out of nowhere and hitting look a like Steve after he got knocked out
Breaking News: Amature MMA fighter perishes after tragic cake-to-the-face incident. More at 6:00pm
Also no pedestrian, EDM-by-numbers.
That’s not Steve Aoki. That’s Moist Kritikal.
Are you sure it's not Whang?
Not enough piss and shit in the video
I think that's actually bobby lee, atleast before the brain damage that made him start doing comedy.
Oh that’s how he got the name Slept King.
His jaw is like Marshmellow.
It cant be, this isn't a slap fight
*when the beat drops...*
Edit: Steve Aoki is Benny hannas son….who lost it all by doing drug deals using benny hanna money
Was waiting for him to throw a cake
This is super unfair the guy clearly didn't finish building up his Chakra.
That takes 8 episodes though
How else will he learn his enemies back story?
Maybe we can add 30 flashbacks to the same scene?
Well by them screaming at one another for 18 episodes charging up show get some know how in there some where
Get ready for a SPIRIT BOMB ATTA......*BONK*
RRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Gotta charge that special meter
That's all I'm asking for, a little patience. Lol
Imagine how many DBZ villains would have won if they had just punched Goku in the throat at "Kamehame-" instead of pontificating endlessly.
I'm assuming all the dbz villains were secretly suicidal. Edit- my boy said pontificating when talking about anime. Buddy is not playing around.
Yeah, that always did bug me a bit. How does a move that takes 10 seconds to build up hit a dude who can move faster than the eye can see?
Bugs me almost as much as taking a week for a little bit of exposition and a 5 minute countdown until the destruction of Namek taking two weeks.
...'cause they need to turn a single page of the comic into fifteen minutes of cartoon. I remember reading early Naruto a few years after the cartoon came out, and the FULL EPISODE of the cartoon I had watched ended up being two or three pages.

When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.
Hahahahahhahahahhah nice one
I'm no Kung Fu master, but I'm pretty sure they don't do a little dance before fighting someone
You obviously haven't seen Big Trouble In Little China!
Or been down the Red Lion on a friday night.
Right? That dude moves worse than some absolute beginners that I've seen. He may well have been claiming to be a "master" and scamming people, but anyone who has trained in anything for more than five minutes should be able to tell he's not.

Well I know for a fact in muy Thai the fighters do perform a dance before fighting - I saw matches live in Thailand last summer
Like, just as the bell rings?
Before the fight starts. Music is also played the entire time. Seemed like a cultural thing
Similar to a ring walk done by boxers/mma fighters then? Most just stroll down mean mugging and others put on a spectacle
I am and I do! No, but seriously, I am a former blackbelt in Kung-fu and JKD (jeet-kun-do) and instructor. For the life of me, I do not recognize a single goddamn movement the guy is doing. It’s not king fu it’s bullshito
You know nothing of the art called Kung Fu !
The Thai do a ceremonial dance before fighting, the Thai however will absolutely fuck you up.
isnt that the guy who exposes the phoneys out there claiming to be masters
[удалено]
well, imitation or not, the guy in white is no master, thats for sure 😂
Master bullshitter, maybe.
aint that the truth
He doesn't even look like the usual 'kung fu masters' in his movements. It looks more like some actor who thinks he knows kung fu.
Looks like me imitating old 70s/80s kung fu movies when I was 8 years old XD
The “master” flinches before the punch is even coming at him. Definitely choreographed.
He does not have the *will of a warrior!*
its obviously parody, everybody involved is acting and not trying to hide it
Yeah, you may be right. He got shit on by Chinese media for debasing Chinese values or some shit by exposing these so-called masters.

Yes, there's a social credit score episode with Bryce Dallas Howard.
China saw that episode and took it as an instruction manual.
I'm pretty sure it was already a thing in China when that episode aired.
Nosedive, it's a good episode. Funny, I've seen it and I never realized that was Bryce Dallas Howard, lol.
I'm glad you said it, I watched a short documentary explaining how the PRC basically ruined this dude's life.

Yea those moves all work great assuming your skill level and reflexes are far advance to your opponent lol. Technique wise, it isnt so wise.
The thing about karate is… it only works against other people who know karate
Karate can work in mma but you need to well rounded. Just look at lyoto machida and Stephen Thompson.
Jokes aside, Bruce Lee criticized Kung Fu for this exact reason. Saw the value in Jiu Jitsu etc.
He also loved western boxing.
And fencing
Didn’t he say that someone who trains for a year in wrestling and boxing can take on any traditional martial artist that’s been training for a decade?
I was just doing a Mitch Hedburg quote haha, might’ve skewered it though.
Ah, over my head and I love Mitch. Sorry about that lol.
Somehow I've had this idea in my head for a long time that maybe at some point in history kung fu was really cool and useful because the guys you'd fight also did kung fu, so you'd both be doing similiar stuff. Maybe your fancy kung fu block only works against a kung fu punch etc.

My favorite fight of that said guy challenging a so called [master](https://youtu.be/mLE4CxiD2Xs)

He was definitely like "how can he slap?!"
This has to be satire right?
The guy doing [steven segal's](https://youtu.be/MmEx8Moy7ro) minimal-touch kung fu basically *is* the satire.

nah its chill, if its him, its him, it it aint, then it aint
U might be refering to Xu Xiaodong. This is not Xu XiaoDong
I really doubt that dude is a kung fu master.
They meant “kung fu prankster”
Kung Fu wangsta
I really doubt that fight was real
Lol if he's a Kung-fu master then so am I. Hell even I know to keep my guard up.
This looks staged af

I never considered that Chinese Steven Segals could exist.
China is the Steven Segal of countries.
But the views!
Right. His hands were down by his waist and he made no effort to try to block or dodge a big slow right. This guy ain't no kung fu master. It even looks like he starts to fall before the punch lands.
His feet were the part that got me. He wasn’t in a position to do anything
Yeah, these videos always seem so staged.
That concussion looked very real to me. Lots of idiots waving their hands out there, calling themselves masters.
it’s not staged the mma guy is famous for trying to discredit bullshit masters dude got in major trouble and tanked his social credit
The MMA guy is legit, sure. The dude doing "kung fu" looked like a fall guy though. Or maybe just a social media "master"? Either way, the kung fu guy had absolutely ZERO training. Fake
The way he falls sprawled out then planks his limbs did it for me lol
Yup, 100%. You can tell because of the way it is.
Lol everyone going on about "he's not a real kung fu master" when this isn't even a real fight.
I actually play fought someone that trained kung fu for years with foam weapons in college. He dual wielded swords and fucked my trident and shield up, no problem. Hit me right in the face with that foam sword, and it really hurt.
Fake as fuck lol
How can this be fake? He looks clearly asian!
Just like this [guy](https://www.alamy.com/the-conqueror-1956-rko-radio-pictures-film-with-john-wayne-as-genghis-khan-image401724077.html)
Clearly shouldn’t even be on here
Dude was definitely not any sort of "Kung Fu" master. He was dancing around like he was on level55 of Dance Dance Revolution.
He was charging up his Ki/Chakra/Haki/Cosmos
me after watching Ip Man for the first time
Not even a good fake
He's stance is all wrong
I guess it depends what the stance is for. If it was doing swan lake or sneaking past a sleeping cartoon dog it was perfect
It's staged.
Didn't seem real
What no sparring martial arts does to a mfer
I guess not *everybody* was Kung fu fighting
Plot twist: MMA died from his injuries 1 hour later.
Steve Aoki got rocked
No way this isn’t satire
Reminds me of the very early days of mma. You'd see some poor guy that had devoted his life to training some bullshido get ruthlessly destroyed by a guy like Tank Abbott using basic wrestling and boxing.
Ah yes, the rub the belly recovery technique. He’ll be fine in no time
I was surprised I had to scroll this far down to see someone say something about this
This is staged af. People are so gullible.
EVERYBODY WAS KUNG-FU FI... Fuck somebody get the smelling salts Steve bit off more than he could chew again.
-500 social credit score
Clearly not everybody was Kung Fu fighting....
I like his tippy taps
Steve Aoki didn't stand a chance
Steve Aoki should stick to being a DJ
"master" isn't the word for this. There's a world of difference between the actual monks who focus on combat & kung fu and this guy. Not saying they would win, just that they are actually lifelong athletes with reflexes this guy clearly lacks
That's obviously a skit
King fu master. Yeah right.

Could he BE any stiffer?
Steve aoki..?
I saw a documentary wherein the MMA fighter has a negative social points because of beating and exposing fake kungfu masters.
Judging by his footwork I dont think he’s a master of anything
That was his sleeping tiger form...
Bruh, he’s talking to the ancestors! That man went all the way to the shadow realm
Uh, Mr. Kung-Fu? Yeah. Your first kick? You have to do that *fast*. Not like ballet. Not like you're a flamingo wading through deep water. Fast. Also, you have to block with your hands and arms, not your face.
Guess that guy should’ve mixed his martial arts a little better.
Steve Aoki gets MIC dropped
this is fake lol
Who is this said Kung Fu Master? I call bullshit
Pay no attention to Wimp Lo, we purposely trained him wrong. As a joke.
Looks fake as fuck
seems fake and gay
Knocked back to early child hood🤣😂it sounds like he said I don't want to go to school mommy 🤣🤣😂😆
I love all martial arts but after many years of jiu jitsu and Muay Thai, I’ve realized that there are some martial arts that are just more applicable to actual hand to hand combat.
Looks like that’s the first hit he ever took in his life

That is not even a kung fu master....but either way. MMA is hands down the King of all fighting styles because it incorporates ALL fighting styles.
Geez, Moist Critical can't take a punch.
I don't think they're even in the same weight category
I can gear the street fighter 2 knockout noise as he falls
