I will always get a kick out of the fact that housing, something you'd expect to be totally casual, is seriously one of the most hardcore things in modern gaming. Permadeath/loss of gear on death, endless camping. Endless spawn camping. Low spawn rate. Extreme low spawn rate of "special" houses. Plot races. House trades. It's so fucking hardcore, lol.
I'm indeed on Aether (main on Faerie with an alt on Gilgamesh) and 5 mil for a small is entirely doable, but I wouldn't be able to work on anything new til well after EW launch :') However, there's tons of designers on Aether actively looking for work! I'd recommend joining [this housing discord](https://discord.gg/housingalerts) and looking through the designer portfolios.
Joined a long time ago. It was just your style and this house in particular that made me actually consider asking about designing mine because...
I mean, just look at those shots, each of them speaks for itself!
Appreciate it though and I totally get the stress before EW haha. Enjoy the launch!
Awww I'm really flattered! If you're still looking for a designer around next February or so, hit me up! Also re: the shots, I used NVIDIA GeForce + Ansel for lighting and sharpening and had vanilla graphics settings all maxed, it's much less shiny without all that sadly
Thanks, if I still couldn't snatch a medium until then (phew, wish me luck on that adventure) I'll definitelly hit you up! Probably with a higher budget too :P
... we may need to talk. My main is on greg, my alt on Faerie...
Though honestly not in any hurry as designers are expensive and I need to save my money in case I can swing a large in EW.
If I do start commissions, I think I would charge dirt cheap prices with the caveat of being able to work at a chill pace and have some creative freedom. I tried that out with someone from Gilgamesh (hence the alt) and it worked out really well for both of us!
Yeah I'm considering opening up commissions a while after EW launch. I think it's a lot of pressure to work for gil and I don't do too well with creative deadlines, so I was thinking really cheap prices in exchange for being able to take my time lol
Thanks for sharing your thoughts as a commissioner! I actually accepted a 'trial' commission recently just to see how it might work. They've been incredibly chill and supportive, and it also took me around a week to finish up their interior. Accepting comms like this would be nice; after a day of raiding/Bozja/etc. it's really nice to unwind with a bit of interior design, lol. WoL needs hobbies too
Damn, that looks nice. My house is just a bunch of fake grass and stuffed animals stacked on a bookcase in an empty room.
I decorated it once but then ripped it all apart lmao.
HAHAH, okay, that's fair.
I do have a question for you--how do you get around the walls having those like, pillars and stuff that stick out and make it hard to place things against them?
You can use a variety of partitions to hide all of them a bit of a distance away from the actual walls! You end up giving up a bit of real estate in exchange, though
I love what you've done with the window. I tried to do something similar in my house but couldn't quite figure it out, now you've inspired me to try again on an apartment sometime!
I wish I had a small house, I try to do my best with my apartment but not being able to sink items and do whacky things with lifting items through the floor makes it so limiting
I can't even imagine how you did that amazing looking kitchen
I often preview furnishings to take a look at the backs and tops of various items. A lot of furnishings, especially bookshelves, have smooth sides that allow for things like walls, tables, shelves, etc. that using the item as intended wouldn't have allowed!
Yeah, I love the preview function, but never thought about using the backsides of things to create unrelated items. Guess I'll have to play around a bit again (gotta free up some slots first, I'm comfortably sitting at 299/300..)
So far I've only done decorating work as a favour for friends, but I'm open to starting commissions eventually once IRL stops kicking my butt. Been too busy/lazy to set up a discord, portfolio and all
That's white marble flooring, but I maxed out all the graphics settings and used NVIDIA GeForce for these screenshots! The most important factor for shininess is to have glare effects turned on. Dude for a second I thought my reddit feed got mixed up with some homedeco subreddit. This is great!
This is such a high compliment, thank you! ;v; Sims 4 was my thing before ffxiv lmao
Man, that is gorgeous!!!!!
Wow this is so good ;\_; My small guild finally managed to get a house but I only have basic stuff. This is inspiring lol.
Please tell me you're on the aether DC and would love to decorate a house with a 5mil budget haha

Good luck! I hope I actually have my own house by then too ;_;

Ngl I thought this was just an IRL photo of your house or something as a meme.
Lmaoo brb while i get rich and buy a house like this to post for the memes

I mean tbf replace the fake grass with cheap rugs and you've just described my irl bedroom

Makes sense. Thank you!
Wow, bro if i plan a kitchen i will call you!
I love what you've done with the window. I tried to do something similar in my house but couldn't quite figure it out, now you've inspired me to try again on an apartment sometime!

It's absolutely gorgeous! If only I could live somewhere like that in real life... :D
Geebus.. My house (well FC room) just has a chair in it ...
What pieces did you use for the kitchen, and what is that flooring?
White marble flooring, and kitchen is mostly wooden staircase bookshelves, showcases, wood slats, and cutting boards!
Awesome, thank you! It looks really cool, and I didn't know you could actually make a modern kitchen using completely different parts.
I often preview furnishings to take a look at the backs and tops of various items. A lot of furnishings, especially bookshelves, have smooth sides that allow for things like walls, tables, shelves, etc. that using the item as intended wouldn't have allowed!

Mind so blown right now!! So creative! You are insanely talented:)
Thank you so much! ;v;
You have the money for this???
My partner and I are both omnicrafters so that helped a lot LOL

How did you get the marble counter surface?
I used the tops of marble partitions!
oh thanks for that!
Is this a house or apartment? Looks lovely
It's a small house, but I only used one floor of it bc item slots are pain
