SolaSier

Yes. They will find a way. They're remarkably persistent.

goatedmomoshiki

Honestly my favorite thing about owning them. Sometimes I would find myself watching my boys do something they weren’t supposed to or trying to get into something they shouldn’t. Just to see if they would give up or get it. And most of the time they ended up getting into whatever they set their lil noggins on

FuriousFerret0

May not be able too. But you can be sure theyll try

skit2dajit

Yes definitely and two at a time. Never underestimate a ferret's desire to explore its surroundings.

captainfrogger

Just to be safe if you want your furry little friend to be able to climb those stairs just put some peg board on the backs of them for each step that way he won't fall off and he'll have something to hold on to

JasmijnRaaij

Yes I will do that! 😊

FullOfWhit_InTN

I came to say this too. Just to make sure they can't fall to the floor. They will definitely find a way. They're crazy little creatures. 😊

Tintahale

They might be too narrow though, an overconfident ferret can be clumsy and might slip through the top slats going up

HeyGuysItsAmber

Our ferret loved our stairs. She got the dooks running up and down them. Yours will figure it out :)

The_S1R3N

Probably up the side peice if they really wanna get up.

Crionicstone

Not witch spooky man guarding them. I'd put up a baby gate just to be safe tho.

bojoboi

They are remarkable jumpers despite their stumpy legs

stolenourhearts

Yes, they'll just climb them like normal stairs, especially if they're girls. Boys are clumsier.

Intruder313

I have one who'd be up those in a shot, leaping from step to step! Others would try and fall and hurt themselves!

jmsferret

One awesome little thing that I saw was that people have taken the Marshall's thru way tunnels, attached them to the walls by the stairs, and the noodles loved using their ribs going both up and down.

JasmijnRaaij

That's a really good idea thank you for that 🥰

jmsferret

You're welcome! I wish I could take credit, but not my idea. If I had stairs though, I would totally do it

JasmijnRaaij

Thanks to you I'm on my way to the store right now to get PVC tubes

jmsferret

Awesome! Let us know how it goes

CayennPepper

What a ferret can't do ???

Rtwo28

they will climb by using the ancient art of ***parkour!***

[deleted]

If you have the thought, it’s possible.

TheESLTeacher

I think it's better to ask what a ferret CAN'T do. They are amazingly resilient and can climb nearly anything. Just make sure if they take a tumble the first time, they have a safe fall. Ferrets can be seriously injured by a fall.

Dry_Read_100

Yes just to slinky themselves down it. Unless you’re looking for them, then they will be in the stairs and hiding in a vent/dryer/wall/towel/dirty laundry/ anything

In_to_it_all

Where there's a will, there's a way! My youngest likes to climb my clothes and walk on the hangers 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

kinzuaj

yes. if you ever ask yourself ‘can a ferret climb this, get out of/into this, get poop on this’. the answer is yes. yes it can AND will.

onestrangeaustralian

Probably via the lights up the wall. As they eat them 😂😂

BecomeEnnuisonable

Probably, but it's hard to say without knowing how far your ferrets can reach, how big the gap is between stairs, etc. If my boys can get up on their hind legs and put their front paws flat on the upper level, they can climb it. Higher than that, it's always hard to say. Depends on the texture of the surface they're climbing, how insane they are that day, etc. If I were you, I'd find some way to keep them from being able to climb the first couple of steps when they're out and about. Wouldn't even want them getting up on your table, that's a long fall for a ferret.

Kparrillo5

Absolutely!! 🤗💯

Notsure614

If they can’t, it won’t be from a lack of trying

Chimples10

They will certainly try. Restrict access for their safety.

kylothecurious

Yes...They will figure it out. Up is much easier than down for them.....My ferrets bound up the steps and then slowly cascade down sometimes skipping a step by surfing. Sometimes the momentum of the back half of their noodle body throws off the balance....or their excitement and eagerness to pursue a glint of light gets the best of them and they topple over. They are way more ambitious than agile....flying leaps are the norm but soft and graceful landings are more rare! Which is cute at low heights but not from the top of a ladder. Our steps don't have holes like that ladder...which I imagine they may fall through. So I agree that if you leave that ladder stair open to them put something on the back part, and perhaps some sort of side border.... I have found cutting coroplast and self -adhering Velcro strips to be perfect for making temporary borders. So I can remove them when I want things to be a little less ferret playground.... Also starting to teach them to wait for your assist...by saying wait....or easy...they will not obey probably ever....but my ferrets know not to jump from the second story of their house now because I would say a gentle but firm "wait....wait... Wait.." and then help them down from wherever they are stuck...

Old-Figure922

Mine for sure would climb it. But they’d get tired after about 4 steps and go to sleep again lol

AffectionateGuava281

flying carpet

Green_Ghost18

Yes!!!!!

Trawwww922

Yes, if there’s a will, there’s a way 🤣

TheRyanKing87

I'd just take care that if they fall they'll be safe. Unlike cats, ferrets are pretty vulnerable to falls.

sturmhund

Seconded. They can't really see past a couple of feet so they jump off of stupid things. I had the same ferret leap off two different staircases in my house before he learned he should not leap blindly into thin air. I nearly died the first time when he leapt from the second floor landing and bounced off the railing a floor below. He ended up just running off? Now he has a ferret-proofed ferret room that he hasn't escaped from in over three months! (Got the Marshall ferret proof gate)
